What Michelle Obama said
Here’s the video via Hot Air of The Soul-Fixer’s wife admitting that she hasn’t had a real moment of pride in her country for the duration of her adult life:
I believe it was Michael Kinsley who quipped that a gaffe is when a politician tells the truth. In this case, it’s what happens when a Democrat politician’s wife says what a significant portion of the party’s base really believes.
You’ll note the immediate applause after she delivers the line.
But, hey, DON’T QUESTION THEIR PATRIOTISM!

“That people are hungry for hope and hoping for change. Hungry for change. Hoping for hope. Change and hope, hope and change… Now I can finally be proud of my country.”
If she has never been proud of her country in her adult life, she must have a very narrow view of what is praiseworthy.
All I can say is, wow….
and she stayed in America, why?
More Blah, Blah, Blah from the Obama camp. geez.

Charles Barkely said some things over the weekend that pretty much reveal the true mindset of liberals.
I really hope he follows through on his promise and runs for office.
She will always have to live with the knowledge that she said that when Bush was in office.
Ha-Ha!
Yeah way to shoot your husband’s campaign in the foot, sounds narcissitic America it is all about Me and my husband the rock star..Dumb, Dumb, Dumb. I stated it before back in the Obama soulfixer blog. Michelle Obama is reading and buying her husband’s press, she has got to be more savy then that, Mrs Obama, drinking the people’s koolaid.
It sounds like she’s as empty as her husband.
What Mrs. Obama said was puzzling and I’m sure that if she stopped to think about it, there would be plenty of things that she would say she’s proud of.
But there’s also a lot of stuff that doesn’t warrant pride. Which is why the “DON’T QUESTION THEIR PATRIOTISM!” bit is really disconcerting. What she said has nothing to do with patriotism.
I’m sure you’re sick of hearing this from liberals such as myself, but patriotism isn’t tantamount to loving everything done in America’s name. One part of patriotism is always wanting your country to better itself. I, along with many others, don’t think that’s happened in my lifetime.
Mrs. Obama will probably come out with a press release mentioning a bevy of developments that she’s been proud of in her 40+ years. And that will be the end of this little mini-controversy.
My question is why is the entire media reporting that she said “really” proud and not just “proud” THERE’S A BIG DIFFERENCE!
If this termagant has never felt proud of our country, why is she still here and not in Saudi Arabia, where she would be more at home? Hussein Obama and his wife are the scariest creatures we have ever had this close to the White House.
I really hope that McCain’s advisors are compiling material for political advertisements.
Mr. and (now) Mrs. Empty Suits.
Oh… we’ll get change alright if Obama gets elected.
I hope it never happens.
Here’s a woman who pulls in a salary of over $275,000 a year working as a community outreach director for a hospital. And pulls in another stipend of over $100,000 a year for serving on the board of directors of a food company. And ws provided with the opportuity for an Ivy league BA and JD.
Add in her husband’s income and the Obama household enjoys over a half a million dollars in cash income a year.
And she has never felt pride in the US until now? Give me a break. There is no other country in the world that would have given her the opportunities and the livelihood she enjoys here.
While she may now be trying to spin her words, she cannot unring the bell. And her words will be viewed as a revelation into her true character.

Truly unsettling the way you are so eager to serve as apologist…
America gives more aid and assistance to other Country’s bar none, take a look at that missy.
Each day that passes McCain though not my first pick looks 100 times better than any Dem out there.
Someone please show the Obama’s and Clinton’s the door.
I vividly remember the late Justice Thurgood Marshall saying the Constitution held nothing for a black man, or words to that effect.
Why did the man not have the integrity and balls to leave the Supreme Court, in that case?
I guess that question answers itself.
“Faux New’s Alert”
Michelle Obama and Bill Clinton seen entering a Swanky Hotel together!
Rumor has it they were there plotting who could be the bigger jackass for their spouse’s campaign.

Just a few things that can come to mind to take pride in America: the humanitarian aid we provided after the 2004 tsunami, how we came together as a nation after 9/11, how ordinary Americans will do whatever they can to help those they see in need… And she can take no pride in ANY of that? How sad…
Then leave.
Find a country that you *can* be proud of. The fact that I am able to speak my mind, worship freely, get an education, vote, drive, live where I please, go to the store and get food without quotas or rations, etc. is a pretty good indicator to me that America isn’t all that bad.
You want Communism, go to Cuba. You want oppression, go to the Middle East.
I am so sick and tired of these people who hate America but have no problem profiting from its system of government and economy. Everyone in America - even the seemingly poorest people - have more and are freer than people anywhere in the world.
If Michelle Obama is disappointed in America, she should sell the house and her possessions that her (and her husband’s) careers have earned, forsake their citizenship, and pull up stakes for a nation not quite as unappealing to her.
And she wants to be First Lady?
Give me a break.
The above quote from the Newsweek cover story on Micky O grossly mischaracterizes the Third World Center (TWC). The TWC was no party house. It was a hayta house, home to every radical, revolutionary organization on campus. As I recall it was such a hostile environment that native Puerto Rican students (most of whom favored continued commonwealth status) were harassed by radical, NYC-born Puerto Rican-American members for not being authentic Puerto Ricans! You could find a Che, Castro, Biko, Mao or Malcolm X poster in nearly every room.
I’d wager that a little digging through the CAP (Concerned Alumni of Princeton–to which Sam Alito belonged) archives could turn up a trove of embarrassing data. Wish I had the time to do it myself.
What a great attitude for a possible First Lady. I can just imagine the mess and lack of respect for the historical treasures that she and her family will inflict in that great white house.
Is anyone really surprised over this? Come on, admit it.
Hope. Change. Empty promises. Socialism.
Darn little else. So are we surprised?
The problem is not that we don’t want America to be better - it’s that we look at someone like Obama’s “vision” for America and see that it is exactly like those governments who sought to provide equal, fair government for all via socialism or communism. In the economy. In healthcare. In taxes.
Which results in one equality: all are impoverished.
Those who support Obama have a very real streak of desiring an end of American democracy, as well as an end to things like free speech (see the “Fairness” Doctrine) and free religious expression (see the ACLU). They deny the very important roots of our country, consider the Constitution a “living, breathing” (read: morally relative) document, and consider gay marriage and abortion as more important “rights” than the right to bear arms (something actually enshrined in the Constitution).
They want to get rid of all the *good* that is America and remake the nation in the image of Mao, Stalin, and Castro.
So yes, I question their patriotism. Patriotism does not mean blind allegiance to one’s nation - but rather an unyielding respect and love for what’s good (read: freedom) and the values on which the nation was founded (Christian Judeo values, the nuclear family, individual responsibility and prosperity, etc.) - values that will continue to make America great if the left doesn’t annihilate them first for being politically incorrect.
EQ, the “then leave” bit is as unpatriotic as anything Mrs. Obama said. The idea that America is a “like it or leave it” place is inaccurate. I can hate America’s racial history,, our invasions of Iraq and Vietnam, and all sorts of other details while still loving my country and hoping it gets better.
I think Jim M. said it best. America has been very good to her. The message shouldn’t be “then leave.” It should be “think of all the opportunities America has afforded you.” Let’s work from there towards positive change.
It seems at odds to say that you have never been proud of your country, but still love it. I don’t think there’s anything disconcerting about questioning the patriotism of someone that would say this. It appears as though Mrs. Obama doesn’t love her country, but rather she loves the ideal that she thinks the country will become with her husband as leader. That’s not patriotism. Sorry. Even if Obama or Clinton gets elected, I’ll still love and support this country. My love for the U.S. is not conditional like it is for the Hollywood Left. I’d want our future president (and first lady) to have that same conviction.
It could be a gaffe and likely was not intended to have the outcome that it might. However, I doubt spinning it after the fact will completely wash away the connotation. It’s not just a mistake in words as the tone and flow of the speech seems unmistakable.
It’s obvious Michelle doesn’t travel out of the country much. You know, even as a kid (9), during the Nixon debacle I was still proud of my country, as a teen during the “malaise” of the Carter years I was still proud of my country, even during the Clinton scandals I knew that there was no better country on this earth, even with all it’s faults then the USA. Perhaps if Michelle and Barack would travel to places other than the grand resorts on Oahu she’d have a different point of view.
Yes Rusty we’re sick of your liberal “I don’t like the way this country is going” garbage. I am sorry you’re so unhappy here but if it’s so darn bad go somewhere else and rid this country of malcontents like yourself and Michelle. Of course you won’t, you know better. You also know that there is a lot this country does for others as has been pointed out to you but you are too hatefilled for Bush to understand that. Oh, forgot to add you love the troops too! If Michelle isn’t proud of young men and women who serve this country then she is a bigger simpleton than even you or lgm.
Lady marries an Arab-American who was raised in Africa (schooled in part in Africa? depending on which story you read as to what it is) calls himself an African -American, has a white mom…
This husband and wife go to Ivy league schools, she jumps jobs at $250,000 per year making more than 96% of the entire country, her hubby makes it to the US SENATE and she has NEVER BEEN PROUD OF AMERICA?????
Obama’s- B. Hussein & Michelle , please go to another country for a decade or so until you can respect this one!
oh yeah, above mentioned lady is black.
no success stories here tho.
Mrs Obama needs to spend an hour with Don King. Yes, that Don King, the boxing promoter. He can help her to see all the wonderful things in America that are hidden in plain site. If you have never heard him speak about his love of our country, you should. He is truly an American success story and he knows why.
She apparently is quite accomplished. I wonder where she would be today without the USA. No First Lady there that is for sure. I want a First Lady who is proud and has belief……not Hope.
Jeepers!
I hope this doesn’t affect the outcome of the Hawaii and Wisconsin primaries today!

abominate \uh-BOM-uh-nayt\, transitive verb:
To hate in the highest degree; to detest intensely; to loathe; to abhor.
Todays word, ironical?
Rhymes with?
Ty-ronical? Yes ’shootet’:):):)
Please, folks - don’T Feed the trolls. It’s simple - if they don’t love their country enough to stand up for it, they don’t love their country. That’s all.
The main issue I have with Michelle Obama’s speech is that she wants others to agree with her that America has been this dark place unworthy of pride throughout her life and only now, if her husband becomes president, will it be saved and worthy of pride and love.
At least, that’s how I’m hearing it… I admit I’m biased.
Really? Well, I guess you learn something new every day…that genuinely surprises me. But, then again, I’m not much on boxing so I know little about Don King.
Rusty - my position is no more extreme than Ms. Obama’s. The notion that - since 1982 (when Ms. Obama was an adult; she’s 44) - she’s been proud of nothing this nation has done is disappointing.
I would think it a good exercise in appreciation if those who believe that, in the past 25 years, nothing in America is praiseworthy, spent some time living in a country where a woman would never even learn how to read, let alone be given attention on a national scale and perhaps be months away from being the most powerful woman in the nation.
Obama’s vision of America (socialism) and mine are very different. I see a nation that has lost its heart and soul to liberalism, and liberals deny the good of America in their frenzied attempt to make America a nation Karl Marx would approve of.
This is a battle that will only be won by changing the hearts of individuals on one side of the fence or the other. And those of us who’ve studied history and know that there *is* still good in America and has been since its inception will never have our hearts moved to betray the country we love.
Our only hope is that those who hate America will realize just how blessed and fortunate they are to be here.
You’ve never been proud of your country even once in your entire adult life? Well there’s one HUGE reason for NOT having you and your husband in the power chair.
Yet another entitlement whiner.
#18-Maybe their hotel gig was about something else. You know Bill has been with more black women than Barry:)
One of many problems with Democrats is that they want to govern (rule?) America but the don’t really seem to like it very much. It seems to me Michelle Obama has been treated very well by this country, and certainly is reaping the benefits of being an American. She should show a little gratitude.
Invasion of Vietnam? I’ve heard and read many things to describe our involvment there but never this. Is that what the government schools are teaching these days?
Salt - That’s how I heard it as well. It certainly sounds like she’s painting a picture of America as a cess pool that only her husband can save. And the only way she mentioned (in that part of her statement) that he will save it is through “Change.”
[I know... maybe he will save the country by tossing us all bottles of water and giving us room to breathe.]
EQ, Don King is frequently on the “Neil Cavuto Show” at 4:00 p.m. or 1600 on FNC. He’s a hoot but very up front about how this country has been great to him his entire life and how he thanks God he was born here as opposed to somewhere else. Even with all it’s warts, he’d rather be here.
Michelle Obama on the other hand has no clue.
What about her children? Are they suffering too from this depressed nation we call the United States of America? Are they educated? Are they healthy? Is their father running for the highest office in the country?
Damn! I sure wish I could find a better place to live too!
I wonder how she would respond if someone walked up and told her “You know,Barack is the first time in my life that I’ve ever been proud of black people.”
JLP
Ms. Obama’s darkest day was when the US defeated Communism in the form of the USSR. For me it was our finest hour!
Her model of the dream Utopia vanished overnight, along with the hopes that she and her radical hubby could somehow mold the US into the image of a Peoples State like the former totalitarian regime.
That’s why she has never had a proud moment about the USA in her entire adult life. She and her husband stand in opposition to everything that makes this country great.
Way back in the 1980s, Bill Cosby was the most popular entertainer in America. His show was numbe 1 for years. All the cast members made a fortune from Disney commercials. Oprah drove Donahue off the air. I guess this shows how racist America is, right Michelle Obama? But the MSM will never subject the Obamas to any scrutiny. None.
Well time to get to know Obama. Racism at Punahou? Are you kidding me? Punahou is an elite private school in Honolulu. In 1979 I was teaching 1 block from Punahou at Mid-Pacific Institute. He obviously was one of the trouble makers at the school. Cocaine? That is hard core. That alone disqualifies the guys in my opinion.
Multi-racial heritage? Could have fooled me. The press calls him black and he NEVER contradicts them (unlike Tiger Woods). Why not be proud of you heritage Obama? In Hawaii everybody is multi-racial. I assure you it was not a stigma. His heritage is both black and white. Even the black half is NOT African American. It is African. He does not have the history of an African American.
Then he goes to school at Columbia. Isn’t that the school that produces the liberal press.
All I can say I am starting to get a picture of just who he is.
Is this a surprise? Remember wearing an American flag lapel pin is below Obama. Also remember the picture from the Democrap function where he was the only one on stage who didn’t put his hand over his heart during the national anthem.
I realize this stuff is symbolic but I also believe it speaks volumes about him. Imagine, wanting to be president of a country you hate and have no respect for.
Why Rusty, you little scamp, you assured me some months ago that you absolutely weren’t a liberal!
Mister P, I may be wrong but when we lived in Ewa Beach (until last March), Punahou was the most expensive private school on Oahu. I never hear him being mentioned as a “scholarship student” like the did with Mayor Mufi (Iolani) when he was running for his office. I’m not sure if it was that expensive during the time he was there in the 70’s but I believe it always was pretty steep to go there.
EQ and terrig …
Don King is frequently also on H&C and F&F, as well as on Hannnity’s radio program … He always is carrying and waving US Flags and espousing the virtues of being an American, his pride in the brave men and women in our armed forces, and encouraging people to get out and participate in all that is America.
How would you describe it. It was gradual with Kennedy sending in “advisors”, then it kept expanding with Johnson to the point we loss 50-100 soldiers per day. It was based on the domino theory that if they became communist, the other countries would follow. So it seems we went oversees to invade Viet Nam to stop the spread of communism.
But it was a mismanaged war, one in which Johnson refused to tell the American people the truth. Add the drafting of a million or so men (myself included) and we persisted through Nixons first term with a failed war. We eventually got out with Buchanan’s “Peace with Honor” slogan and escaped, leaving over 500,000 Viet Namese friends to be slaughtered.
Not only was it expensive, but it was very hard to get into. Generally the waiting list would start at preschool. On a side note I remember seeing OJ Simpson playing tennis against Rod Stewart at Punahou (I was a tennis coach).
If you think this is unusual, go talk to any recent college humanities grad. The O’s have been indoctrinated by the boomer leftists and are now producing a second generation of socialist America-loathing robots. The Che poster in their office is just the tip of the iceberg.
Remember, people applauded her. Scary.
The name “Sherry Palmer” keeps popping into my head for some reason.
terrig said:
We like to think of them as beauty marks.
This too falls in the catagory:
Have to have some first.
Wait, what? Really? I’d like to see that. I mean, I’m not a liberal on every issue. Maybe it was in a thread regarding gun ownership rights or something.
And all this Don King talk is kind of silly. The man is a convicted murderer who has a reputation for bilking his clients.
Here’s a list of boxers who have sued him.
He’s proof that a crook and a killer can make himself rich off of others. Let’s not hold him up as an example of the opportunities that America offers.
I bet that was pretty funny. Do you remember who won? I’ve always heard it was pretty impossible to get in there.
Michelle Obama was born Jan 17, 1964. The civil rights bill was passed July 2, 1964.. She’s not proud about that? What about the moon landing? What about the pull out of Vietnam? Ladies and Gents, I submit that most Democrats have a hate America mentality. I do question their patriotism. Hey dems are you with America or against us?
Osama Obama was also born in Hawaii in 1961. Fortunately for him I guess he was not born a year earlier before Hawaii was officially a state. In fact has anyone investigate his birth records. Is he actually not be qualified to run for President? Imagine that coming out.
She just tanked at First Lady 101.
Seems to be pretty standard in Washington to have no pride or patriotism. It’s globalism, open borders with Mexico, chamberpot immigration. The parties have pretty much abandoned the commonweal for self-interest.
WOW - WOW - WOW.
America has not “bettered itself” in 25 years.
I guess there really are two Americas.
So in Rusty’s liberal world, people can’t redeem themselves and better themselves. What about the actor Charles S. Dutton, he spent time for stabbing a man to death and now he’s a big star. I believe Tim Allen spent time in the slammer too as I’m sure others have. Sorry the flag waving of Don King gets under your skin but not at all surprised by your statement statement.
Boy are proHussein pundits parsing this to mean Michelle is always proud of our country but now hope and change by her hubsand makes her really proud of our country. So she still qualifies as our first lady. The thing that bothers me is how far from the tree did her husband fall and does the hope and change they would bring to the White House include their subculture and expectation of privilege they have enjoyed. From her public track record I find it easy to say she is an ingrate and does she have the culture to address the world as the First Lady of our country. What would Laura Bush or Nancy Reagan do.
at the 44 second mark:
Unfortunately that’ll be the conservative base propping up McCain to defeat you. Still hope he picks a real conservative for VP.
bit,
Nancy Reagan saw it coming and fell down two days ago.
Did she not live in the Cliton”s time? A heck of a put down for them.
I’d have gone with:
moon landing
miracle on ice
election of Ronald Reagan
Just thought I’d mention that.
I don’t really care what Mrs. Obama says or thinks.
Maybe he is about 2 days old
The truth slips out…you cannot “parse” love for America so thinly. Especially if you want to be first lady.
Terri, Dutton and Allen did spend time behind bars. Since then they’ve stayed out of trouble.
King is still a crook. He made his fortune by being a crook. That’s the difference.
Can you imagine the embarrassment IF she were the First Lady for four years?
OH MY GOD, she would humiliate America… weekly.
That really is a terrifying thought, imo.
BO and Michell’s church of 20 years is a black saparatist church. The church preaches allegiance is to Africa, not America.
Mrs. Obama’s comments are a slap to every proud Americans face.
Rooster

She’s a skinny Oprah.
There seems to be a fine line for democrats as to whether they actually hate America or hate Bush and that which he represents along with not being totally in control whereby they can sincerely care for our citizens as we all become dependent on governmental mandates, limitations, and controls. Government controlled thermostats in our homes, anyone?
If elected, I truly believe that Barry Obama’s greatest challenge will be that of getting Michelle to wear a burka. His coming out (from his state of taqiyya) will be easy compared to controlling her under his long range, unmentioned, hidden, no one’s asking, agenda to allow equal-opportunity sharia law.
And, I suspect if her husband is not elected as President, Ms Michelle will return to her state of not being proud of the country which has thus far given her so, so much.
Things to not be proud of in Mrs. Obamas lifetime.
1) Man on the moon
2) The civil rights movment
3) The Bicenteniel
4) The destruction of the Berlin Wall
6) The convenance of the internet
7) The cell phone (just an example of the tech we developed from the space program. All of which would not be possible if not for the transister.
Just a few things not to be proud of that have happened during her life time.
What a tangled world we weave when we practice to decieve …. the truth of liberal life.
Rusty said “One part of patriotism is always wanting your country to better itself. I, along with many others, don’t think that’s happened in my lifetime.”
Unless Rusty was born last week and kept his head in a dark hole not the womb. Our country has done much to better itself and that of others world wide. I guess the billions that have been given to aid other nations is nothing to be proud of. The fact this country has the best living standard in the world is nothing to be proud of. The fact we try to give a hand up to others and not a handout is nothing to be proud of.
Patriotism is more then a bragging right Rusty. Patriotism is a feeling that comes from the heart and soul. It is the tear in the corner of ones eye when the see the American Flag flying high and proud in the wind. Patriotism is standing up against all odds and saying “Hey thats not right” and fighting oppression.
Patriotism is having a slice of applepie from the nieghbor even though you know it taste awful, (because the nieghbor can not cook).
Patriotism is knowing that you have the right to disagree with morons and not having to conform to their beliefs.
patriotism is putting on that old nasty, dirty baseball cap and working in your own yard planting the ugliest flowers you can imagine.
Patriotism is helping your nighbor dig his car out of the snowdrift he parked in.
Patriotism is the soul coming out and standing tall. Looking out from Purple mountain Majesty, from sea to shinning sea. Knowing that you have a couple bucks in the bank and can afford food and a roof ovwer your head. Why because those who came before you gave all for you.
Patriotism is reverance to those before you.
I can go on and on but it is lost on those like rusty who just do not understand that standing and saluteing the flag or crossing ones heart is part of this. To them it is a sign of fascism and oppression. It really is to bad they will never understand.
“Its pathetic what they give you” right Rusty?
Did anyone notice this was headlined on Drudge yesterday and mysteriously disappeared today?
Michelle Obama is a wonderful example of the perils of listening to your own propoganda repetitions for too long: you end up falling for it yourself.
Swallowing their own “master race”/”divine race”/”Superman” bullsh*t was instrumental in hastening the defeat of the Germans and Japanese in WWII, because it led them to an unwarranted contempt for their enemies which in turn led to disastrous consequences at Stalingrad and Midway.
Similarly, Michelle Obama clearly has come to accept as “truth” that she and her husband really are the Second Coming, only unlike her he remains cagey enough not to let the side slip.
Just like we say “It’s the liquor talking” when some plastered individual makes outlandish or intemperate remarks, Michelle Obama is drunk with her own sense of superiority and entitlement - and talking accordingly.
It’s easy to trace the trajectory of the Obamas through a series of parables, starting with the Pied Piper and descending to The Emperor’s New Clothes, finally ending up as Humpty-Dumpty.
The most interesting question is whether the inevitable hubris-based crack-up will happen before enough donkeys see through “The New Messiah” schtick for Bill & Hillary to avoid becoming their first victims.
Sometimes I’m completely taken aback at what people truly think and how they can live in the same country as me and not have seen the same things I have. It actually causes me emotional trauma to think people like Michelle Obama may have a say in how our country is run. Only someone who denies reality could have said the things she said and, to me, a person who denies reality is insane. I know there is no test for sanity to get in the white house as the Clintons lived there.
Wow…and Ivy League Education, lots of Corrupt friends putting piles of money in their pockets, …. and She is complaining?????
If only more us us could be so lucky to have 26 years of that kind of misery.
I don’t agree with what she said but this nit picking every little thing that every body is saying is getting childish. If what she said was unpatriotic, then what Bush and McCain attempted to do to the citizens of America with SHAMNESTY REFORM was not just unpatriotic, but RAPE and character smearing (calling everyone bigots, etc.)
It’s not nit picking when they are running for the Highest office in the land its learning and listening and her message is ignorant. We are allowed to scrutinize ones comments if they expect us to consider them for this position.
The Democrats appeal to those who feel marginalized for some reason, real or imaginary. Those folks feel absolutely no pride in their country because they don’t think it has ever done anything for them. The Obamas want to sell them the idea that if they do win, they’ll finally feel “proud” of their country because it will finally pay what they think is owed to them.
Of course it’s all absurd coming from people who have been nothing but successes in life. The difference is conservatives can see right through it, while libs who have an emotional stake in sticking it to the man can’t.
I am proud of this:
National Anthem
Made me cheer!!!
Rusty said: I’m sure you’re sick of hearing this from liberals such as myself, but patriotism isn’t tantamount to loving everything done in America’s name.
Wrong. We are sick of people who hate America and want to change it into a member of the socialist world state. Those of us who love this country do so knowing it isn’t perfect. If the difference isn’t clear to you, go to the back of the class and stand in the corner. Don’t forget the dunce cap.
Yesterday, I stated that I suspected that a couple of newer posters on this site were really liberals posing as MDS sufferers in order to keep dissatifaction with McCain high and election turnout low.
Renee VA’s quote above pretty much supports my belief.
If Michelle Hussein Obama’s Marxist comments don’t bother you, you ARE a liberal. No true conservative would want these two Hussein Obamas anywhere near the White House.
As much as I hate, I mean Hate the Red Sox, you have to admire they’re fans. They have shown me class many many times over the years. and no I’m not a flippin Yankee fan.
Ok, no.
Hey her husband, would-be Commander-in-Chief can’t even pledge allegiance to the flag.
Obama is now running ads in Hawaii telling parents to turn off the TV so their kids can study. Good advice but he wants to be POTUS, not PTA Pres! How will someone who has no feeling for the country run the place? OK Mrs. McClain, I’m practicing holding my nose…
Michelle—have you heard the saying “Open mouth, insert foot?” However, few people have inserted BOTH feet!!! Congratulations!!
Hey Ms. Obama,
Since you don’t have pride in America, name me one other country on earth that has done more and given more to help humanity around the world. I’m waiting.
Are we always perfect? No. Do we always do things exactly right? No. But the bottom line is all the other countries combined can’t match the efforts, blood, sweat, and money the United States has given to the world and good of mankind.
TAKE THAT B*TCH!
Thought you might like that AJ.
Yankee fan = oxymoron.
Let the bashing begin!
Black elitists.=oxymoron
Well, she will only be first lady. Not like they matter much.
(not trolling, just taking a cheap shot at hillary.)
One can only conclude that she is proud because she’s doing well. If Hillary was winning would she be proud of her country? No.
Michelle and B Hussien Obambi may be worse
narcissists than Bill and Hillary. Me..me…me….
Michelle, before you contribute to everyone taking a few sentences out of
context you should take the time to watch the compete speech. Leading up to that video clip you posted she was talking about the bar being raised for Obama’s campaign as they succeeded during each step they have taken so far, like so many people getting involved at the grass roots. THAT IS WHY SHE WAS REALLY SO PROUD FOR THE FIRST TIME IN HER LIFE! In the context of what is different so far in this campaign compared to her past experiences.
Later in the speech she talks about, paraphrasing “a great nation like ours having an impact helping out poorer nations in the world” among other positive ideas.
You and all the people trashing Michelle Obama here in comments need to do is listen to the speech at C-Span in it’s entirety. You may not agree with some ideas, but in no way was she dissing this country like you have suggested.
You all should be ashamed of yourselves for latching onto to this firestorm from a few sentences taken out of context.
Video from C-Span.

Or goto C-Span’s website and look under Recent Programs on the main page, here.
I’ve been reading your blog closely from the the very beginning back in 2004. Jumping on the bandwagon here taking something out of context is what you usually stand up against.
What are you going to do now? Go on Fox News later today and contribute to taking this out of context in front of a national audience?
Mister P~
If we got into Vietnam with the blessing of the legitimate government of the nation of Vietnam, that’s really not an invasion, now is it?
spin it however you like olympian, shes an ingrate. and all they do is speak in sound bites, obama hasnt voted on any issues and is the king of pandering, the queen being hillary.
Ask not what your country can do for you but what you can do for your country… Or something like that.
America is great. If you are looking for perfection you will not find it here on earth. That my friends, (I couln’t resist.
) is in the heavens. However, people from all over the world flock to America - why is that?
Michelle cannot even see the irony in her statement. Nothing to be proud of? WTF?? In what other country would they have the opportunities that they have had here? The world is not emough.
Not spin. The spoken words prove it, but you have to listen to the speech. Something a bandwagon character assassin expert like yourself is probably too lazy to do.
enough
lol olympian I’m glad you have figured me out it’s taken my girlfriend years to do. sure your names not karnack?
I agree 30, emough is emough.
You made the “ingrate” comment, not me.
Her speech overall, considering the audience she was speaking too, was excellent. What she said about common sense values would stand up to any conservative litmus test. (32 minutes to about 34 minutes in the video)
aj,
From a fellow bca (bandwagon character assassin) to another. Truth be told I was to lazy to hit the ‘n’ on the keyboard.
Of course, after you smear someone, then enough is enough. Let’s not look at the facts.
Sure its an invasion based upon the request of that government. Just as we INVADED Normandy. The problem as I see it is that you are giving it a negative connotation.
Doesn’t he really mean, turn off the TV so they can take cocaine like he did?
What do these two issues have to do with one another? If you are looking for a pretext on which to launch into an anti-Bush tirade, I’m sorry, but this isn’t one.
This is about a woman whose husband is running for the highest office in the land. We have a bounded DUTY to “nitpick” everything she says to determine exactly what kind of persons would be occupying the White House.
Bush/McCain’s stance on illegal immigration is a complete non sequitur and bears absolutely ZERO relation to the thread at hand.
BACK TO THE SUBJECT AT HAND…
My 95 year old black grandmother just died last month, and if she heard what Mrs. Obama said, she’d immediately pronounce her a fool.
My take is that Mrs. O thought that by saying what she said, she was repudiating any and all recent “Republican progress” over the last 25 years but she probably honestly forgot that it included the Clinton reign as well. Or if she did recall it included the Clinton golden years, she’d probably argue that “progress” was stymied because of a Republican congress.
But I wonder if Barack asked her later, “What? You weren’t proud to marry me??”
I was just playing with 30, shes a friend, that wasnt meant for you oly.
lets just not speak to on another shall we. thank you.
Great post Major O. And I sorry to hear about your grandmother.
No problem.
BTW, your next chance to trash Michelle Obama, Michelle Obama in Warwick, RI, Wednesday, February 20th.
Well he did say he wants kids to have every opportunity he had.
Here’s a link to his old high school - the tuition page…

Let me help you out here. Take your favorite brownie recipe and add a sprinkle of dog poop. Now tell all your friends and see if they want to partake. I am betting no.
Some of us can see through they yummy part and notice the poop.
I’ll go ahead and dutifully play my role as a-hole lawyer polemicist in an effort to keep it just a little real and attempt to counteract the demagogery of the echoe chamber that is this thread. Here goes:
…for context, I’m a McCain guy (and except for a brief flirtation in this election cycle, have been since the 2000 election), and I disagree with most of Obama’s policy positions (at least the ones I care about).
…as olympian pointed out, listen to the whole speech before you make silly comments. Politics being the game it is, she probably should’ve stated her thought differently, but any reasonably intelligent person knows what she meant in the overall context of the entire speech. I think it’s important to be just a little intellectually honest, especially when discussing individuals with whom you disagree on substance. If you want to be taken seriously that is.
…there’s a difference between criticizing a particular administration and making negative comments about your country. Guessing most of you will experience this phenomenon firsthand over at least the next four years during the Obama presidency. Paraphrasing Jefferson, “love your country, but distrust your government”. Make sense?
BTW Gabe, you crossed the line quite a while ago. Your ridiculous and unfounded comments regarding Obama are irresponsible, defamatory and not worthy of this site. You come off as a fool and a mirror image of your counterparts over at DKos. You might want to trade some of those degrees you claim to have for a bit of common sense.

But that’s just the problem, isn’t it? She didn’t stop to think about it, but rather went with her instinct. And among the far left, hatred of all things American is so deeply instictual.

Ah, she said adult lifetime. So to be fair, we should only include things since she became a legal adult in 1982. The first thing that came to my mind was, she’s not proud of all the aid we sent to the tsunami victims in Thailand and around the Indian Ocean in 2004?
Pretty high, but I will say that the public schools in Hawaii are just terrible. We actually got together a paid for a girls tuition at St.Elizabeth to get her out of the public schools. My nephews went to Damien.
This is not the first dumb comment I’ve heard from her, nor will be it be the last. And of course the only outlets that publicize these comments are talk radio or bloggers like MM. Everytime she opens her mouth she’s whining about hard her life is.
Again, you and your husband are very lucky - successful, wealthy, you have a lovely healthy family, and you live in a country where you can freely speak your mind. Why don’t you learn to appreciate it?
If all the “unhappy” leftists in this country really wanted “change,” and truly wanted to move the US in the right direction, perhaps they would be willing to leave, en masse, and leave the U.S. for good.
That would be a GOOD CHANGE. Not only would they help the United States become a better country, their absence would provide jobs for millions of the “happy” citizens left behind, and all those poor illegal immigrants that they so soundly embrace, as well.
I am sure most of the world’s socialist utopias would welcome them with open arms, as they would only strengthen their political ideology. How happy would they be in Cuba, Bolivia, Venezuela, Spain, Italy, Russia, Serbia, Angolia, and other places whose leadership they love and align with so much?
I suppose then is that she’s not proud of our First Black President! Poor Bill and all his worthiness.
Patriotism isn’t being proud of your country unless it turns into something completely different either. That’s what you numbskulls don’t understand. I can name many, many things I’m proud that my country has done and how it has bettered itself, if you can’t, then plain and simply you are not patriotic, period.
Bottom line here is that in “certain company” this comment would not only be perfectly reasonable and accepted but some would even cheer….see her audience. It really doesn’t matter whether or not she means it.
Also, the video cut Michelle has posted here has been tampered with or it’s a bad recording. When I watched the C-Span video in it’s entriety the word “really” isn’t cut off like it is here.
It’s disappointing to see a high quality and quantity columnist, blogger and excellent contributor to Fox News like Michelle Malkin post this video without any context at all.
If your DUTY is to nitpick everything she says, you’re not doing a very good job of it by picking a single sentence out of a 30+ minute speech and ignoring the rest.
You might want to think about quitting your day job. I’m guessing her calendar is pretty full for the next couple months. And I’ll bet there’s a backlog of work for you to catch up on. Now get to work!

Context? Enlighten us please
See my first post up above with all the details (and video link at C-Span). Michelle Obama referred to our country as a ‘great nation’ in this speech.
omg, Signed up with McCain yesterday, someone please call hell and see if it’s freezing over, dakine and I have more in common than I ever would have dreamed of.
I suppose you can look at the “great” nation from many angles.
China is a great nation (population, size) - unless you take human rights into account.
To make reference to the USA as a great nation is a no-brainer. To say for the first time in her life she is really proud of her country is just nonsense. Also, “hope is making a comeback”? Because of BO? Where has hope been? And putting the farmer in Iowa in the same boat with people on the south side of Chicago is just pandering.
The glitch on the word really is just something that happens. If you have watched as many videos at Hot Air as I have, you would see plenty of audio burps. Now who is nit-picking?
way OT-
This is beyond off topic, but if any of you have a walgreens nearby all Valentines candy is 75% off and they have the good stuff. better hurry though.
Don’t be lazy. Watch the video. She said that we are a great nation because of how we assist poorer nations. If you watch this video in it’s entirety and come away saying she was dissing this country then you are dishonest. It’s obvious she wasn’t.
The clip that has been cut from her speech can make it seem that way though.
She stated in the video that her reasons weren’t ‘Just because Barack has done well..’
She knew exactly what she was saying…and it’s just what THAT audience wanted to hear, which is why she said it.
She’s an ingrate.
