Illegal alien van driver arrested in Minnesota schoolbus tragedy
The local Fox affiliate in the Twin Cities finally confirms what the local papers didn’t seem to want to mention about the horrible school bus accident that killed four children. It didn’t have to happen:
Authorities have confirmed that the the driver of the van that struck the school bus that killed 4 students on Tuesday is an illegal alien.
Officials at the Immigration and Customs Enforcement are checking to see where she came from and how long she’s been in Minnesota. FOX 9 has also learned that the name she gave to police, Alainiss Morales, is an alias.
23-year-old Alainiss N. Morales was taken into custody on suspicion of criminal vehicular operation. She was arrested by the State Patrol Thursday afternoon and is being held in Lyon County Jail. County Attorney Rick Maes told the Marshall Independent charges could come later Thursday or Friday…The van was driven by Alianiss N. Morales, 23, of Minneota. The Fox 9 Investigator found Morales pleaded guilty in Chippewa County in 2006 to driving without a valid license.
State Patrol officials said Thursday they were not immediately able to confirm if Morales was unlicensed, nor could they confirm whether Morales ran a stop sign. Lt. Mark Peterson said that was still under investigation, but that the investigation was “moving forward very quickly.”
The school bus was carrying 28 students. Cottonwood Fire Chief Dale Louluagie confirmed that 3 fatalities of the crash died immediately upon impact and the fourth victim died around 8 p.m. Tuesday night.
Minneapolis is a sanctuary city. In 2003, the city voted to bar police from asking about immigration status or enforcing immigration laws. The mayor, R.T. Rybak, even asked federal agents to stop wearing vests labeled “police.” St. Paul and Worthington are also sanctuary cities.
Open borders, deadly consequences. When will they learn?

What did “Morales’s” employer know about her illegal status and when did the employer know it?
Has she evaded deportation orders? How many?
What didn’t local police ask about her immigration status when she pleaded guilty to driving without a valid license two years ago–and will the parents of the schoolchildren hold officials accountable?

The state of Mn, where I live, is strongly friendly towards illegals and as Michelle has noted, Minneapolis is a sanctuary city along with St. Paul. The media outlets have long been protective of revealing illegal status of perpetrators and it may soon come home to roost. Well, One can hope anyway.

Last nite I caught all 3 local News broadcasts on this story, and not one of them even theorized about her ’status’. Then finally on local (conservitive) talk radio this morning the host was all over the question as to whether or she was illegal, he was trying to find the answers. The State Patrol, no one, was saying anything.
Good thing it came out this evening; at 7 PM CST the Governor will speak at the memorial service in Cottonwood. I hope some citizens of Cottonwood have a chat with him.
The Governor -Tim Pawlenty- who is highly rumoured to be a VP Candidate. Lets hope he does something about it, no matter what his good friend John McCain prefers.
A terrible tragedy, made more so by the fact that it never should have happened.
To expect people who break the law to get here to follow the law once they are here is not a logical expectation. In fact, it is a thought process that flirts with insanity.
John McCain has made it very clear that he is not going to be the one to tell a soldier that his illegal alien family member is being deported (a poor example given the statistical odds), but I wonder if he would be willing to call the mother of one of those children killed to break the news to her that her child just died at the hands of an illegal alien.
I sincerely hope the parents of those children sue every city and school official that had the slightest responsibility for harboring and hiring this illegal alien.

He is a liar and cheat who dispises the police, the private sector and religious beliefs. His voting base is government workers and welfare recipients.
Our biggest problem here is not the illegals from Mexico, it is the Somalians. They hate America and Americans and are here to get all the freebees they can. Drivers license is always the issue with open borders nuts.
Any citizen, from any country can come here with Their home country’s valid drivers license and use that while they visit our great land. They can even get insurance with this license, but at a much higher price than a citizen with a US license. The pols are always confusing the average citizen about licenses making illegals safer…..BULLS**T!

One small good thing, this area (where the accident happened) is represented in the legislature by a very good, very conservative Republican - Marty Seifert http://www.house.leg.state.mn.us/members/members.asp?district=21A .
Marty is the Minority Leader in the house (because the liberals won the state house and the senate in 2006). In making something out of tragedy, if anyone can do it, Marty will use this to change some things in State Govt(while our popular Governor was supporting McCain, and our State GOP leader was supporting Huckabee, Marty was a Freadhead early in the recent primary.)
Also, this accident was in rural MN, 150+ miles from Mpls and St Paul. So Mpls and its liberal Mayor cannot be sued but MM is right about asking all the questions of the employer and especially asking why the State Patrol, or whomever stopped her in 2006 and found she did not have a license, did not question the status then and deport her. That makes it the Governor’s questions to answer.
Every liberal leaning American parent who is willing to sacrifice the life on one of their children for the economic benefit of an illegal immigrant raise your hand.

BlameAmericaLast, by all accounts the driver of the bus was experienced and conscientious, and the bus company maintained it’s equipment well. The woman in the minivan apparently blew a stop sign, possibly in the glare of the morning sun and hit the bus near the back, tipping it over.
The illegal did not drive the school bus, but the van that collided with it. This is still an outrage.
May the children rest in peace and their loved ones know no further sorrow.

#38 : The school bus driver was a hero. As soon as he became conscious he did everything he could to get the kids out, with help then from passersby.
The minivan with the illegal alien driver that T-boned the bus at the rear axle blew a stop sign intersection at full speed. No morning sun, this was the afternoon, these kids were on their way home from school.
Understand also, this was out in the middle of nowhere, you can see for miles, there is little other traffic; this was the intersection of two rural highways.
There was a guy at our local caucus a couple weeks ago that said it was illegal in Minnesota to ask immigration status until after you hired someone. The rest of us thought that seemed far-fetched, but the guy said they had a family business and that’s the way it was. I’m sure we’ll learn more. Nothing surprises me here anymore.

If the mayor can’t be sued, the parents should find out every individual and agency who can, from the person who made the decision not to question legal status all the way down. They should be sued in their personal capacity as well as professional capacity.

This sort of thing always amazes me. And I hope what I am about to post makes sense.
Think about this: when sex offenders are released, many do not go back out and commit more sex crimes. However, those who do commit more sex crimes (especially against children) cause us to rush to enact tougher laws and sentencing against sex offenders across the board, in order to not take any more chances; because, says our logic, if they were never released, and were still in prison, the new crime never would have occurred. Our logic then overlooks the fact that sex crimes against children are also committed by those who have never been to prison, and statistics say that more sex crimes are committed by first time offenders than those who have previously served time for them. After all, it’s for the safety of the children, and no expense can be spared.
Then, many times we also hold elected officials accountable if it is felt they had any hand in the previously lighter enforcement and sentencing by bringing these issues up in local and statewide and even sometimes in federal elections. I mean come on, try running in the face of allegations that you are light on sex offenders, and someone released under your watch harmed more children.
This is all logical to us, and pretty much everyone agrees, left and right, liberal or conservative, etc. It’s “for the children,” and we must overlook certain statistics, because we do not want to risk the harm of any more children, no matter what.
That said; apply the same type of logic to illegal immigration. When illegal immigrants come to this country, the majority does not commit crimes, or cause accidents that kill children. However, given that they are “illegal” and shouldn’t be here to begin with, why do we not rush to strengthen immigration laws (just as we rush to strengthen sex crime laws) when an illegal immigrant commits crimes or kills people (especially children) in a car accident? After all, if they were not here to begin with, these children would still be alive, and some crimes would have never been committed.
However, when it comes to a case like this, it’s suddenly against logic to say “if they were never here to begin with, this would never have happened.” Instead of going after cases like these, and using them to encourage stricter immigration controls across the board, “for the children,” the media and the left suddenly avoids the facts, avoids reporting on the legal status of the person who committed the crime or caused the fatal accident, even in cases where children are involved. The side that is normally parroting “it’s for the children” at ever other opportunity for whatever other cause they can come up with is deathly silent here.
Yes, it’s true that most crimes and fatal accidents in this country are committed and/or caused by legal citizens; but why are illegal immigrant crimes and fatal accidents held to a different standard than other crimes that would not have otherwise occurred? Suddenly, it’s racist and against logic to suggest such things.
And again, why do more people not hold elected officials accountable if it is felt they had any hand in the lighter enforcement (like the discouraging of deportation and reporting that comes with sanctuary cities) by bringing these issues up in local and statewide and even federal elections? Why does a large group of non-illegal immigrants suddenly jump up and down and scream “racist” and tell us we don’t make any sense?
After all, isn’t it “for the children?”

This is so heartbreaking. I feel so badly for those families. I’ve seen what so many deaths of children at one time can do to a community. And I know that this will impact everyone there for a very, very, very long time. I will be praying for them all.
What is surprising is that McCain and Kennedy still get elected and re-elected. This may upset many Americans but if you think about it what does this say about American electorate? I’ll tell you… American electorate now consists of foreign enemies of America (so what if they took an oath for American citizenship? Reagan may have prayed for his would be assassin, but he didn’t pardon him. He allowed justice to go forward. If one of these children on the bus had been your’s (or if you were capable of imagining that one of these kids was your’s) you would understand why we are angry that this needless tradgedy occurred and why we want justice.
If someone kills a security guard during a robbery, he’s still guilty of murder even if he had no intention of hurting anyone. If anyone intentionally breaks the law, like driving without a license, that person is responsible for what happens whether intended or not.
Does anyone recall that the director of “A Christmas Story” and his young son were both killed by an illegal alien drunk driver in Malibu, CA? I know this happened a while ago, but seems a poignant example (a person who created something killed by a useless ad on top of that illegal perp); It seems that this stuff happens way too often.
I’m aways amazed, and dismayed, at the number of people who can find some way to defend someone being in his country illegally, using a false name, lowering the wages and taking the jobs of legal Americans…..and often making demands of the nation and the people they have invaded. Yet, there are still people here who defend them and ask, “why so angry”.
And then a 100% preventable tragedy like this happens.

Papa, I have two of my own. I have a friend that works with a parent of one of these kids. I did offer a prayer for the young woman that apparently caused this and I stand by it.
I just think it’s too easy to heap all the hate on her, as if she personally opened the borders 40 years ago. I have a lot more for the off-my-meds-everyone-hated-me-so-I’ll-shoot-up-my-school freaks.

Last year, after an illegal alien, previously released twice on bail for other crimes because of sanctuary policy, killed 3 young students in Newark, and tried to kill a 4th, NJ finally reversed their sanctuary policy. A machete was a suspected weapon, in addition to a gun.
In the NEXT TWO WEEKS after the change in policy, the first two arrests because of the change were of illegal aliens weilding machetes in their own immigrant neighborhoods.

This was a 3 vehicle accident. The Illegal Alien minivan T-boned the rear axle of the bus causing the Bus to careen out of control and topple over onto a pickup travelling in the opposite direction.
It was the impact of the pickup with the bus that killed the 4 kids, they said they were crushed. So the innocent pickup driver victim has to live with it being his vehicle impact that killed the 4 kids. I would always question myself, could I have done better defensive driving, etc?

But am I the problem with this country? I’ve voted for conservatives since my first vote in 1980, and have never missed one, except perhaps a few at the caucus level. I have always contributed to my local conservative candidates as well as those around the country that do things like oppose gun control, support the Minutemen, beat Tom Daschle, and other causes like the Swift Boat vets and Soldiers Angels. I am a lifelong member of the NRA and actively lobbied for concealed carry in Minnesota. I have the hats from many campaign volunteer efforts. My wonderful children attend parochial school so that they aren’t brainwashed and by the government - yet - and they send packages to Minnesota soldiers in Iraq. My son looked the governor in the eye when he shook his hand, and he hugged a fireman that was a bell-ringer for the Salvation Army. I was a charter member of TownHall and PowerLine, and the only reason I wasn’t at President Reagan’s funeral was that I had already returned my rental car and couldn’t figure out how to use the Metro. There is some irony there.
I enjoy Michelle’s site many times a day and I wish her and all of you the best.

Virginia’s attorney general and federal immigration officials yesterday said they are in the process of deporting 171 foreign-born criminal sex offenders, including about 20 living in Northern Virginia.

McDonnell, a Republican. “We are going to make sure that those people who come here illegally and violate the criminal laws of Virginia, are detained, prosecuted and deported.”
Mr. McDonnell, who plans to run for governor next year, said the offenders facing deportation were a mix of illegal aliens and immigrants with temporary legal status.
“Among the sex offenders we’ve arrested on the street are those convicted of rape, carnal knowledge of a minor, sexual battery, sexual abuse and taking liberties with children,” said Bill Reid, special agent in charge for the D.C. office of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
The state and federal partnership, dubbed “Operation Cold Play,” falls under the umbrella of ICE’s “Operation Predator,” targeting sex offenders across the country.
“Since [Operation Predator’s] inception in 2003, more than 10,900 child predators have been arrested nationwide,” said Vincent Archibeque, acting field director for ICE detention and removal. “Of these arrests, almost 85 percent were noncitizens, and of those noncitizens arrested, more than 5,600 have already been removed from the United States.”
Mr. McDonnell said the success of “Operation Cold Play” had a lot to do with laws the General Assembly passed in 2006 to improve the state’s sex-offender computer registry, which is operated by the state police.
That year, lawmakers also added 45 new state troopers to help ensure registry laws had teeth.
In July, Mr. McDonnell requested state police thumb through the roughly 14,500 names in Virginia’s registry to find all those who were foreign-born.
State police shared the resulting list of 527 names with ICE to determine which persons were illegally present or “aliens who had committed crimes,” Mr. McDonnell said.
From that list, federal officials discovered 135 “convicted criminal alien sex offenders” were being held in state prisons or local jails in Virginia, 84 had already left or been deported and 36 were walking the streets after having been released by the Department of Corrections.
Alexandria had the highest number with eight, Manassas had four, and Woodbridge had three.
Mr. McDonnell said the state should soon have additional tools to arrest criminal illegal aliens, thanks to a bill Delegate David B. Albo, Fairfax County Republican, is pushing that would require local jail or correctional facility officials to check the immigration status of every foreign-born national in custody.
In addition, lawmakers are considering a plan that would establish a presumption against bail for illegal aliens convicted of minor crimes.
Department of Labor unemployment rates from January show that black unemployment is highest at 9.2 percent, compared to whites and Hispanics.

I watched WCCO (CBS) local news and there was no mention that she was an illegal alien. She was an unlicensed driver, and according to state stats, they are twice as likely to be involved in a deadly accident.
The news station did find time to cover the McCain “affair” story as printed by the Times, however.

The only way I see the politicians and idiots that support an open boarder is when some tradgedy happens to them and opens their eyes as to what is happening. A sad comment but the way I see it.
This is why we need to give undocumented workers the opportunity to receive a legal driver’s license: they’re going to come here and drive anyways, so the best way to ensure that they’re learning the rules of the road and being responsible drivers is to open up the process to them.

The ugly truth about drivers license has it’s roots with Bill Clinton. “Motor Voter Registration”. It is all about getting the fraudulent votes.
I came here with my German drivers license (Lived in Germany 1987-2006, US Army) and was allowed to use this until I renewed my stateside license.
How many illegals actually ever had a license in their native land?
Getting a license in Germany, if you are good and pass everything (Written, Theory, Driving) on your first or 2nd try, it will cost you around 1500euro ($2000+). This is why many might want to take advantage of our nominal fees for licensing here in America.
If all these illegals are “in the shadows” why is it I see them everywhere by the hundreds, sometimes thousands? They are in the stores, on the streets, on TV complaining about being mistreated, demanding their rights, etc, etc. I admit a few that I think are illegal could actually be legal. That is a fairly remote possiblity however.

You watched the local CBS affiliate and saw no mention of the illegal alien status in the story, I watched the local NBC station and also saw no mention of the immigration status in the story. Its crazy, they want to ignore it? The only place I’ve heard of it is KTLK Talk Radio, and Fox Ch 9.
Both of our Senators were at the service last night. Amy Klobuchar (D-MN) has voted with the open borders crowd every time. She deserves an email making her aware of how her votes harm people.
Given the choice, what would Morales’ home country donate their efforts and money to: her defense fund or the children’s memorial fund?

1. Who owned the minivan? If she doesn’t then who does and who gave it to her? Sue them.
2. Was it the illegal’s and how did she pay for it?
3. Did she get a loan for the minivan? How?
4. Did she have it register and license and if so, how?
5. Was it insured, if so, how?
6. She had an alias, why?
7. Is Minnesota a no fault insurance state?
These would also be some of the questions I would want to be answered in order to pursue a law suit along with the other questions asked here.
If illegals can get a loan for an automobile to drive here in the U.S. then the laws should be changed. If the papers for the minivan, bank and insurance were forged, then these charges should be added to her.

The real question here for the Washington crowd, could this have been prevented by helping Mexico secure it’s southern border? Could it have been prevented by securing our Southern border?

4) Our so-called “elected officials” are ALL BOUGHT and PAID FOR on this issue of amnesty. Sure…some talk tough about getting the borders secure and blah, blah, blah, but if you listen to McCain on the subject he talks about how he would have every border state governor certify that their border was secured!? W.T.Hell? Rick Perry would give that pledge today if THEY wanted him to..so how does that help? Look, the simple fact is this…..in the minds of the real powers that be…the USA has to be brought down in order to complete their master plan of a North American Union. That is THE ONLY WAY to get Americans to go along with giving up their sovereignty. To break us all down and “re-build”. One of the ways to break us down is to bring down our economy, jobs, standard of living and other key economic targets.
