If it’s Friday in the Muslim world…

…it’s a Day of Rage.

Brian at Snapped Shot spotlights some of the early outbreaks of fire and fury at Denmark, America, and Wikipedia. Check out his full photo gallery. Here’s a sample:

What’s next?

Watch out: They’re going to be burning snack foods.

Senior Muslim figures have said that they are shocked that a number of Walkers snacks contain traces of alcohol and eating them is therefore against their religion.

Lawhawk:

I have to wonder just how many of the protesters actually know what Wikipedia is.

Demonstrations also took place in Indonesia and Kuwait, where one of the signs indicated that the demonstrators are more than willing to sacrifice their sons for the cause. How comforting.

This episode is just one more example that terrorists and their sympathizers won’t go away just because the Dems want to ignore them. This is the result you get when people tell you what to think and what you should be… either that or what the typical Obama supporter would do when you say “mean, mean” things against their rock star.

Just as it’s not “racist” to expect people to learn English, it’s not “racist” to classify questioning a religion (because there are white, black, Asian, and Arab Muslims) as being violent.

There is violence inherent in Islam above and beyond any world religion. Violence that continues to this day (so the argument that religions were *once* violent is a non-starter). Islam is the only religion that really, consistently acts as if it’s still the 16th century (even ice and falafels are haram because they didn’t exist in Muhammed’s time). That airplanes, nuclear warheads, and advanced weaponry didn’t exist in Muhammed’s time is a merely an inconvenience, I guess.

Islam is a religion that forcibly oppresses women and girls, that severely punishes homosexuals and other infidels, and sentences those who convert to another religion to death. They riot over cartoons. They riot over teddy bears.

At the same times, Christians boycott drivel like The DaVinci Code and we’re classified as ignorant, backwater rubes. But I notice Tom Hanks and Dan Brown are not in hiding, fearing for their lives – not even from the supposedly dastardly members of Opus Dei.

Meanwhile, authors like Salman Rushdie, cartoonists, reporters and “apostates” live with the very real danger that they could be executed for “offending Islam.”

Look at what happened to Theo Van Gogh – slaughtered in the street. Or Ayaan Hirsi Ali, who lives in fear for doing what we do on a daily basis (free speech).

That multiculturalist loving, diversity tolerant liberals heap all religion together as either being bad, or draw disingenuous connections between Islam and other religions (specifically Christianity) is frustrating and just plain wrong.

There is a vast difference. Some cultures are not created equal, and not all religions are bad for humankind.

Sadly, however, as it stands right now, Islam is a problem to the peace and security of the rest of the world.

The solution is not to ignore it, PC it away, or work to eradicate all religion but to specifically and firmly deal with terrorism, radical Islam, and jihadi apologists. And to defend people like Ali, Mark Steyn, and other justified, educated, and correct critics of Islam from the speech police and politically correct gestapo.

It’s interesting that what we see in Islam is Christianity of 800-1000 years ago. At one time, women could have businesses along with their male counterparts. Unfortunately, society turned against them. For a long time, witches were considered a superstition, until one pope said it wasn’t. That started the mass burning of women/girls as witches. Men were burned for heresy. Christians were a violent people in Europe. One reason for the Crusades was to stop Christians from “killing each other”, and direct that violence to the Moslems. The Church became more powerful and controlling. With the plague and the Renaissance, the Church finally lost some of its power. At some point, I suspect Islam will “mature” too. But, until that time, it is a serious world threat, both to other religions and itself.

This sentence perfectly illustrates the difference in worldviews.

While these crazy barbarians are trying to kill us and establish sharia and a caliphate over the entire world, poster #69 feels it is important to show that there is “…expression of hate from our side.”

Polar opposite worldview, moral equivalence, rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic all rolled into one compact package.

If the stakes were not so existentially high, that sentence would be LOL priceless.
One really could not make something like that up.

Where? Defining those who engage in violent, dangerous and rabid behavior/riots as “animals” isn’t racist. Any group that engages in that behavior are animals because that level of violence, with such unwarranted reason (or really for any reason) and who treat their fellow man the way radical Islamists do does very little to make a case otherwise.

You seem to have all the pretensions of goodness without the appearance of it (props to Jane Austen “Pride and Prejudice”). It would seem that your grasp of religion is the kind that glosses over the lack of acceptance of all others by one in particular. It would seem in your high, educational, ivory tower you have forgotten the real world in all its complexities. It would also seem that math can calculate precise conclusions but the human heart escapes your grasp, dear troll.

If you actually want to have a substantive debate about the merits of the “religion of peace” vs. “the religion of hate,” perhaps you need to renounce your membership from the Troll Liberation Front. your analogy is incongruent to the actual sad state of events. Perhaps, CAIR will let you sign on as an honorary member?

I’m a huge fan of Ms. Austen. She was a keen observer of human character… especially of the craven kind. She was an author of a different caliber altogether. Too bad most publishers gave her a lot of junk for being a woman and paying her such a pittance for her books. Pride and Prejudice is definitely a book for the ages.

Austen’s Pride and Prejudice will always be my favorite book from her. I was lucky enough to read it in high school. I was a bit of a bookworm and had my head in every regency period British literary work I could find. Another favorite book of mine is Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte (a bit more Gothic) which delves into some of the same issues as Jane Austen.

I actually had a semi-tolerable, 10th grade, Language Arts teacher (a liberal) who was always nice to me. She opened this small town girl’s eyes a lot with these two books. Their authors encouraged me to write, express myself, never give up, and to become a writer. I’m sure they’re still shaping the minds of young people today (the ones who read and want to make something of themselves that is).

emjem24 – When I was in junior high I was looking for something to read (a bit of a bookworm myself) and my mom gave me her old copies Pride and Prejudice and Jane Eyre. I love them both right away. When I was in 12th grade P & P was assigned and while most of the class groaned I eagerly opened the book for the third time. And if I remember correctly, the Brontes were also marginalized because of their gender, even writing under masculine pen names.

[Actually, my mom is in a book club through church and she convinced them to take on some classics. They're reading Jane Eyre right now and I got the pleasure of lending her the copy of the book that she gave me so long ago.]

Well, great to see some people who have read Austen and other classics. I have read Austen, but have to admit, my favorite was “Silas Marner”. Sorry. :) These days you wonder if anyone reads them anymore. When I was working in Fairfax County Schools, the “classics” were shown as movies to the students, even though they were terribly done and totally inaccurate. After watching a Patrick Stewart movie (Moby Dick) with students, I asked the teacher, “Why did you show this movie, being so inaccurate to the book?” He replied, “It’s the only way I can get them to know the story.” Pretty sad, in my book. No pun intended.

There are mammoth foundational/structural problems with our education system that, I believe, cannot be tinkered away.
What will be needed is wholesale cleansing of the Augean stables.

The back of the teachers’ unions (NEA and AFT) will have to be broken.

Education will have to be removed from the grip of the “educationsts”.

A far less expenseive, far more efffective, far more responsible alternative to four years of college will have to be developed.

This is just for starters; of course, this will have to be accompanied by a sea change for the better in our overall society/culture.

I’m not sure that the necessary changes for the salvation of our nation/society/culture will be able to be brought about in our current cold culture war.

That we are living at a critical (in the historical sense) time, with tremendous, existential consequences deriving from the decisions we make, is something of which I am being more and more convinced with every day that passes.

Pray – pray very often and fervently – for our country.

I agree, Granite. The worse classes I saw, were the history classes. (History has been a hobby of mine since I was in college). Kids are using calculators in Math and have no idea how to do simple arithmetic. They don’t get the idea of logic and reasoning…so important in understanding concepts. English is terrible…why is everyone talking in “similes”? (I’ll let you all look that one up). Physical Ed is optional and we wonder why they are getting fat. Cafeterias have a lot of nonsense food. I’m no longer there anymore…I worked with kids that were on ventilators and needed someone close by to make sure all was okay…but I’m sure things haven’t changed. It’s all about pushing the kids through the system and getting them out the door. Education be damned.
