Hillary on the 700 Club: She’s “misunderstood;” Update: “Grim slog”

By Michelle Malkin  •  February 26, 2008 08:35 AM

Down in the dumps and desperate, Hillary has found a new voice: It’s her same old voice! Hard, harsh, shrill, and shriller. The NYT has the latest on her “5-point” attack against Obama.

I’m guessing she’ll put the snarl away for her first ever 700 Club visit.

David Brody has details:

I just want to let you know that today on the ABC Family Channel, Hillary Clinton makes her first appearance ever on The 700 Club. CBN Senior National Correspondent David Brody (The Brody File) sits down with her one on one.

She says she’s misunderstood, says her enemies have an agenda against her, says her faith saved her and talks about forgiveness in her marriage. She also talks about how Barack Obama’s campaign is defined mostly by celebrity and presentation.

My piece runs about 5 minutes and looks at the overall state of the race and whether Clinton can make a comeback.

You can watch it at 10am on the ABC Family Channel ( it repeats at 11pm tonight) or watch it stream live at 9am at www.cbn.org.The piece hits about 9:15am or so.

Gag alert:

Brody: Are you misunderstood? And if you are, why?

Clinton: You know, I have to believe I am because time and time again, people – who have been criticizing me in very harsh and personal terms – once they have gotten to know me, have apologized to me and have even asked for my forgiveness.

Sing it, Ella:

***

Phrase of the day: Grim slog.

Hillary’s selfpity and selfcongratulations are reason enough to see her lose even if the result is Obama being a stronger candidate. Her remark that people who get to know me “apologize” is so self serving. Apparently she never has done anything and all her enemies eventually realize that they have wronged Hillary and come groveling to her. I wonder why the interviewer didn’t ask her: Did Billy Dale apologize to you for all the bad things he did to the White House Travel Office and for making you correct all the bad things by putting your Arkansas contributers into the White House Travel Office? I wonder why the interviewer didn’t say: “Did Gennifer Flowers apologize to you because you accused her of lying about her relationship with Bill and then it turned out that of course you were right once again, Hillary? Her statement that her enemies eventually apologize to her is a sign of clinical narcissism. It is really dangerous for a president of the US to be so totally selfabsorbed that she really thinks that it’s about everybody else getting on their knees and apologizing to the deity (HIllary).

    Great question except…

Pat Robertson endorsed Rudy so I think abortion in not an issue for Robertson. That is why (well, one of many reasons but the latest reason) we no longer watch The 700 Club.

You are absolutely right….. BUT, she is a member of the United Methodist Chuch. I challenge you to go to their web site and read their doctrines – They all read like Hillary Clinton talking points. Pro-choice, pro-gay marriage, pro-illegal immigrant (They literally believe all illegals should have the exact same constitutional rights as US Citizens), pro-welfare and social entitlements, pro-felons having the right to vote, etc, etc….

They have a very good search engine on their web site where you can litterally search for any hot button issue and find their official written statements of where their church stands on that issue….. WARNING: It might make you puke!

So in summary – I not only think she is misguided politically, but when judgment day comes, she may have a good bit of explaining to do.

To be fair, RagingR, not all UMC congregations are like that. As with most of the former mainline denominations (e.g. PCUSA, ECUSA, ELCA) the leadership is out of touch with many, if not most, of it’s membership. Those who have not left the denominations have formed groups within them to counteract the liberal influence. Often they apply the term “Confessing” to themselves and their work. For example, here’s the
    Confessing Movement Within The UMC

(But it’s a pretty safe bet Hillary doesn’t count herself in their numbers!)

    Hiya Soap -
If it was the denomination (UMC) her family was affiliated with she didn’t have to do much “searching” since, like many former mainline denominations, it has changed dramatically in the last 50 years! (and not for the better)

    Yo peep!

I agree with you. Like many (note I did not say all as that would start a whole new debate) denom’s, after 4 to 5 generations they become liberal and the remnant moves on to start other chruches. Could be why there are thousands of denom’s around today. There is one to fit any need.

    From the UMC website:

Our belief in the sanctity of unborn human life makes us reluctant to approve abortion. But we are equally bound to respect the sacredness of the life and well-being of the mother, for whom devastating damage may result from an unacceptable pregnancy. In continuity with past Christian teaching, we recognize tragic conflicts of life with life that may justify abortion, and in such cases we support the legal option of abortion under proper medical procedures. We cannot affirm abortion as an acceptable means of birth control, and we unconditionally reject it as a means of gender selection.
We oppose the use of late-term abortion known as dilation and extraction (partial-birth abortion) and call for the end of this practice except when the physical life of the mother is in danger and no other medical procedure is available, or in the case of severe fetal anomalies incompatible with life.

I grew up in the UMC and the majority of my family still attends. I can say that alot of the policies and beliefs expounded on the UMC website do not reflect what I was taught. And I would agree that the council that makes up the policies is out of touch with it’s members, at least in small southern towns and country churches. The big city yokels may have gone to the liberal side, but the small churches are much more on the conservative side.
I guess we need to coin a new acronym for Hillary at least in my mind:
    MINO-Methodist In Name Only.

The pastor as does the church think all good people go to heaven and even the muslims too. They are so lost and misguided. I have wondered if you have had similar experiences.
