Hillary exploits the ghost of Ann Richards–over sons’ objections
Well, she said last night she intends to do everything she can to win.
And that means using the ghost of Ann Richards in an Internet video to drum up women’s votes in Texas–over the objections of two of her children.
The two sons of Ann Richards, the late former Texas governor, are objecting to an Internet video published by Hillary Rodham Clinton’s presidential campaign that suggests their mother would have supported Clinton.
Clinton’s campaign had permission from Richards’ youngest daughter, Ellen, who said in a statement provided by the campaign that her mother was an “ardent feminist” who would be thrilled by her friend Hillary Clinton’s candidacy…
…But sons Dan and Clark Richards, partners at an Austin law firm, say nobody can know who the outspoken and opinionated former governor would have supported in the race between Clinton and Barack Obama.
“As her children, we never presumed to know her mind when alive and we are not prepared to make a claim as to who she would endorse or what she would do if she were still with us,” they wrote in an e-mail last week. “We are not granting permission for her name to be used in advertisements on behalf of either candidate.”
The e-mail, provided to The Associated Press by Dan Richards, was sent to Cathy Bonner, a friend of their mother’s and member of Richards’ administration. Bonner is working with Clinton’s campaign and sent Dan and Clark Richards an early copy of the video on Feb. 19 “to make sure you are okay with it.”
Dan Richards said in an interview Tuesday that they denied permission and he’s angry the campaign published the video anyway. He said the campaign contacted him again last Friday to ask him to reconsider, and he repeated his objections.
“They asked me if I would sue the campaign, and I said no, I wasn’t in the business of suing the campaign, but I didn’t think they should do it,” he said in a telephone interview. “To try to present who she would endorse a year and a half after she died is offensive to me.”

Here is a woman who has always been obsessed with power. It’s been pretty obvious for years. She promises to cure the world of all its problems; with no intention of doing much of anything, except dictate policy. Just once, it would be nice to have someone interrupt her (and Obama), in the middle of another string of promises, to say that she is possibly in the wrong country. We have Presidents here…not dictators and emperors. She is so obsessed, she will step on anyone and anything to get the chair in the Oval Office. She is the one woman who, if she wins, will set back women in politics for a very long time to come.
Sorry Raging Rep., Jesus already endorsed Huckabee. Didn’t you get the memo? On the other hand, the Clintons did get the Buddha’s endorsement back in the 90s (along with large campaign contributions from monks who took a vow a poverty, a miracle for sure)!

McCain is it for the Rep/Conv set so I’m going to go vote for Billery on the 4th in Tx…This is just too good to end - I want to finally see the “real” Hillary on national TV…you know, the one that screams and throws objects when she does not get what she wants…I think we are close. If she gets all the way to the convention and loses it she will explode and take the building with her. I don’t look for McCain to get many votes in Texas…we will all be otherwise occupied.

I heard a forth hand report from my sister (My sister was formerly involved in Dallas-Fort Worth Democratic politics so might have an inside scoop into this) that Ann wrote to both Clintons letters to be mailed after her death. Bill was asked to come and speak at her funeral. Hillary was told to not come to the funeral.

Well, to be fair a certain Michael Reagan did write recently that “if his father were alive, he would vote for John McCain.” Maybe so, but when I saw the headline I had to wonder: really? I mean, how could he know? Just a couple of columns before he wrote “John McCain hates me.” Would his father vote for someone who hated his son? Now it is easy enough for a conservative to confirm that John McCain hates him. All one has to do is call up Mr. McCain as say: “Hi! I’m a conservative …” and hear the reply, “#(*^$@)(^%)_).” But for the rest, it’s speculative.
Personally, I think Ann Richards would have wanted George Bush to go for a third term, but that’s just me . . .

Old Trooper, I tried to find an old cartoon done by Mike Thompson (now he’s at The Detroit Free Press) but then he was at the State Journal Register that had the Clinton’s standing over an open grave. On the tombstone they had the various was listed on crossed out with one not checked of. THere was a soldier standing in front of the grave with the caption of Bill saying “Fall In”.

Ann Richards was as liberal or more so than Hillary. My liberal sisters just “loved” Ann for her insightful, feminist rhetoric. I was always gagging when they spoke of Richards in such glowing terms. Hillary’s already in so much trouble, having Richards’ endorsement, in my opinion, would make her lousy situation even worse–Texas Repubs would turn out in droves.
