The most amusing part of this is this...

One of the challenges developers have, in the area, in terms of dealing with their stormwater impacts is that fact that many areas of King County have soil conditions that are nearly impermeable to water infiltration. The sand and clay has been compacted to near impervious conditions.

How, you ask?

Well, when there was a mile-thick ice sheet (melted thousands of years ago) covering much of Western Washington at the last Ice Age, the weight of all of that ice...

The Catholic Church had a similar program to carbon off-sets a long time ago... It was called "indulgences", and they allowed people to sin as much as they wanted, so long as they bought "indulgences" from the church that off-set their unholy ways. (long story short)

All this global warming nonsense is a profit-driven scam by a bunch of lefties, who are willing to make money off of other lefties (and righties through legislation). They aren't stupid, but they are greedy.

BTW, Leap Year is a major cause for global warming. One day every four years is not enough of a "correction" for the seasons to work with the calendar. Thus, the global warming folks have this as proof of their cause. So misguided...

sausage said:
Personally, I think Conservatives in this country are really missing a trick when it comes to the green issue and what it can do FOR business and the economy.

When you think 90 percent of the debris in the ocean is plastic…it’s terrifying.

So being “green” is good for business..which means good for jobs, good for the overall economy.
In theory you are right. Greenies' desire for less atmospheric pollution and conservatives' desire for greater energy independence (along with techies' desire for cool futuristic efficient toys) should be a natural synergy.

But as 30 pcs and AlohaGuy pointed out, the true serious solutions are blocked more often by the Left than the Right. Improved CAFE standards, energy-efficient light bulbs, and paying more for plastic shopping bags (remember we always pay for them anyway, just the cost is hidden in your grocery bill) are negligible in their overall impact. In the short term we need more domestic oil production to replace foreign oil sources. In the long term we need nuke plants everywhere, at least 1 for every 6 million citizens, more as we start using plug-in hybrid cars. And in the long long term we need a better source of bio-fuel than corn such as algae.

But who blocks domestic drilling and construction of nuke plants? Which candidates promised to halt waste disposal at Yucca Mountain? And because the road to D.C. starts in Iowa, the corn lobby is much more powerful than the pond scum lobby. How can GW doubters be convinced to yield to solutions when Global Warmians themselves are unwilling to take the serious steps? It's like listening to a sermon on the evils of liquor from a preacher who happens to be a hard-partying booze hound.

We are in Colorado for a vacation and wow - never seen so many greenies in my life. (there aren't too many in the home state of Oklahoma).

The saddest thing was the fact that the Denver Museum of Nature and Science gift store had an entire section of books about global warming they were selling - including Gore's book! I was a bit disappointed that a museum would sell that junk but this is Colorado right?

Love being here though...it is beautiful.

This is 'Tax-to-the-Max' Ron Sims, King County Executive.

He runs the King County Elections office like his private fiefdom. You know where felons, the dead, and imaginary friends vote (and vote often!).

There was an initiative to separate the Elections office from the Executive, but Ron was able to change this to a question on the ballot on weather to have a question on the ballot on separating the Elections office. Of course this won't happen anytime soon - and not until after the '08 election when he can try to get the Governor re-elected.

As Ann Coulter said in her book Godless, the law of big numbers says it will always be the hottest, coldest, wettest, or driest somewhere on the planet.

The only thing green about this entire scheme is the folding stuff the gov't is stealing in the name of the environment.

When we had massive "global warming" around 1000A.D., agriculture boomed. Greenland was green around the coast and suitable for settlements and farms. They even had vineyards for wine in Northern England (streets up there are still named for them). People had food and things went well. When "global cooling" hit about the 1600s, agriculture took a massive downswing. There were famines and people starved. You can't grow crops very well, when it's cold. The Thames froze every winter, though, and fairs were set up on the river. So, if I had my choice....bring on global warming! Besides, I like to walk around in shortsleeves.

Iowa, where I live, is having its coldest winter on record. It is already the 5th snowiest winter on record with permasnow. I say this to global warming: "Bring it on"

This year Durango is measuring snow fall in feet, over 20 so far. The ski resorts are having another banner year on the slopes.

Most of the East is covered in this white stuff that appears to be frozen water in a one form or another.

So if I start to plant trees and shrubs in my mountain valley home, will Excell (the energy provider here) give me a break on the natural gas and electricity I use?

Are you kidding me. My rates are already going up thanks to Gov. Bill Ritter.

This global warming propaganda is out of hand with liberals. I guess what I fail to grasp is that it is nothing more then a money grab of my wallet.
