Terrific: Illegal alien students registering US voters
Sovereignty? What sovereignty? The Tri-Valley Herald headlines a story about illegal alien students registering voters and lobbying for the shamnesty college tuition break DREAM Act this way: “Legal or not, immigrants are getting political on campus.”
Jose Ruiz is like many college students.
He’s outspoken. He’s politically active. And, most importantly, he wants to make sure as many people as possible hit the polls come Election Day.
Why? Because he can’t. Ruiz is an illegal immigrant.
Buoyed by Super Tuesday’s record Latino voter turnout, a San Jose State University student group — made up of both legal and illegal residents — is planning a widespread, grass-roots campaign to register voters, especially those who can speak for them at the polls.
“I don’t need to live in the shadows anymore,” said Ruiz, a 24-year-old San Jose State student whose mother brought him from Mexico on a tourist visa when he was a child.
The campaign is already sparking some controversy, with immigrant advocates applauding the students’ efforts and opponents arguing their efforts could have grave consequences for U.S. citizens. No matter the reaction, though, it’s another step forward for the group known as Student Advocates for Higher Education, which has challenged lawmakers to pass a bill granting certain illegal immigrants a pathway to citizenship if they graduate from college…
… Such activism is nothing new, but experts say this movement, led by illegal immigrants enrolled in college, is the latest phenomenon to grow from marches held across the country in 2006 to call attention to immigration reform.
Those marches, experts believe, may have played a role in the unprecedented number of Latinos who turned out to vote in California’s Democratic presidential primary Feb. 5.
“It encouraged and politicized people,” said Stanford University history Professor Al Camarillo, considered an expert on Latino issues.
Anyone can lead a voter registration drive, academics have noted, but it’s unusual for those who are legally barred from participating in democracy to take such strides to play a part in the electoral process.
An inconvenient reminder for you about where the leading presidential candidates stand on the DREAM Act illegal alien magnet:
Hillary is for it.
Obama is for it.
John McCain wasn’t just for it. He was a co-sponsor of The DREAM Act in 2005 and 2007, led the fight for the comprehensive shamnesty bill that included the DREAM Act of 2006.
What would he say about illegal alien students registering American voters?
His half-hearted robo-answer vowing to “Secure the Borders” is not sufficient.

How did these people get selectred to register anyone to vote in the first place? Does not this smack of some sort of fraud? Might as well make mexico part of the states then maybe we might be able to get them to pay for the services the use and maybe pay taxes even.
Just a dream. Mexicans paying taxes.
Come on, they pay taxes. Sales tax (except in New Hampshire)
Somebody call ICE asap.
Why do citizens of foriegn countries get so much say in the United States political process. Is it not bad enough that in many local elections ILLEGALS get a vote but now it looks to me they will be registering ILLEGALS to vote in the national elections. Isn’t this against the law.
Who is verifieing that those newly registered are even eleigable to register? This is crazy!!!!!!!!
Illegals For McCain, Hillary and Obama.
I will not vote for any of these idiots. They feel safe knowing they are doing the traitorous work that Americans won’t.
The right thing to do was to support American patriot Tom Tancredo. Since America has not supported Tom, now they have to deal with:
- Hillary “No-woman-is-illegal” Clinton.
- MuBarak Hussein “licences-for-illegals” Obama.
- Juan McCain!
In a democracy, people get the govt. they deserve.
That really says it all. I don’t think I any longer have the energy to be outraged by this. Our government continues to indicate to We, The People that it has no intention of meeting it’s constitutional obligations. If the sheep and bed-wetters continue their current voting trends this isn’t headed anywhere remotely good.
In San Antonio they go a step better. The illegals there VOTE!!! No only illegals who vote should be deported, they should rot in prison for a good 20 years first. Governor Good Hair aka Breck Girl #2 needs to go.
Corruption, corruption. Bush is indeed the worst president in history.
And Americans have to take their share of the blame for RE-ELECTING, the ‘worst president in history’, and not even impeaching him, while he sells the country to anyone with a peso or a petro-dollar, if you see the irony….
So what is a Texas voter to do tomorrow but to write in Fred Thompson?
It’s not enough to complain about what these leftist activists are doing. Take a look at yourself and ask if you are willing to go out and register voters who will vote to protect America?
And you guys who say that you won’t vote in this election… I hope you realize that you are not helping.
I was hoping that the probable nomination of McCain would get the Individuals of the Right to step away from their keyboards and get active locally. Instead I hear a bunch of people saying that they didn’t get a Government Agent in McCain to do everything they want FOR them. Is THAT what the Republican Party has become? Do we really think we need somebody in office to do our work for us? Get out there and register voters, help local politicians who are supporting our goals, donate to the causes that will help. Our ‘Not One Dime’ campaign has really been felt at the National level, now rub the salt in it by donating your funds to Pro-Border Control candidates nationwide.
If the politicians notice swelling bank accounts for the guys and gals who protect our borders and shrinking bank accounts of those who support the Dream Act and such… THAT will have an effect.
If they notice a swelling of volunteers in the ranks for those who are Conservative and less help for those who are not, THAT will have an effect.
In the meantime, don’t wait for some Leader to come around and do this for you. Being a Citizen has responsibilities, and one of them is to get involved personally and do the work required to get things done. The most accurate bumper sticker I’ve seen was on the car of a radical Lefty:
Illegal Aliens are showing up this election… are you?
Ummmmmm, that has never stopped them before has it? I am sure he could find some dem supporter happy to help him vote. Hey! If it works for dead people, why not an illegal.
As someone who has lived in a couple of third world countries (Inlcuding Mexico) I can assure you that the good ol’ USA is the only place where foreigners are granted so many rights. Illegals? Can you say jail and immediate deportation? Hanging a flag other than the country flag where I am living? Can you say jail and immediate deportation? Protesting the actions of the government? Can you say jail and immediate deportation?
Voting? … I think you get the picture!
I think McCain is about to drop another F-Bomb on us…
Acorn?
They know WHO they are & WHERE they are, can’t anyone do something about this??
Does this mean as long as you are “illegal” you can get away with anything because nobody has the guts to stop you?
I wonder what’s to stop the illegals from registering other illegals? Are they insane? Since Ruiz is no longer in the shadows, he sounds like an easy target for arrest and deportation.
Once they have sufficient numbers to vote in a local election, that town may as well be annexed into Mexico. From that point on, it will be dirty and corrupt.
We don’t even have a savior in the hopper. We’re screwed!
A song to sovreignty:
Good-bye, so long, auf viedersien, adio-o-s!
Calling Blackjack Pershing; calling Blackjack Pershing!
Situations like this on top of all the other corruption lead to WAR.
This will be the end result I am afraid.
I wonder about this too. They’re saying he’s outspoken, politically active, and illegal. It shouldn’t be too tough for ICE to find him right? What the hell are they waiting for?
Please, someone prove him wrong! If he gets deported that will encourage other illegals to keep themselves out of something they have no right to get involved in. Namely, our Democratic Government!
If they want to be involved in politics, go back to Mexico and campaign to get El Presidente Fox removed from office to limit corruption in your own country!
What really angers me about the article is that San Jose State is my alma mater. And if I was a student there now, I’d probably have to outrun the rampaging mobs for speaking out against this nonsense.
Mr Michael:
You nailed it! Great post!
This blatant violation of this nation’s immigration laws is getting really freaking old! One would have to very naïve to think that voter fraud does not run rampant in any district won by most Democrats, but having illegal invaders registering people to vote in an education system they have no right to attend really gets the blood pressure going this morning.
When asked about the illegal invasion of this country an overwhelming majority of citizens say they want it to stop. The political class has established themselves as an Oligarchy that no longer listens to the will of the people and no longer cares about the security and sovereignty of this nation. A few years ago I would have considered myself a nut case to stock pile ammunition and emergency rations (at my wife’s urging I am), but with what is going on in this country right now we are quickly approaching the flashpoint of 1860 to start a second American Civil War and this one will not go well for the liberals. I agree with gayle I fear our only recourse may be to rise up against our own government unless they begin to enforce the rule of law very soon.
Regardless of who is doing the leg work (iilegal immigrants, pro-life groups, the DMV, any organization of any political stripe), registering voters is a benefit to this country. The more politically active people are, the healthier our democracy.
So, what to do? Get conservatives where people will respond to their message and have them register people who sympathize with the issues you care about.
If they can do it, you can do it.
So if legally registered voters don’t agree with you, your answer is revolution? That makes you sound as bas as the far left loonies upset at eight years with President Bush.
The problem isn’t that illegals are registering voters, the problem is that ilegals are here to begin with. Now that Jose Ruiz has been “outed” as an ILLEGAL alien,it should not be long till he is deported, right?
And Why isn’t Jose Ruiz, in ICE’s custody right now???
In the shadows??? I think not..they are arrogant, in our faces, and thumbing their noses at our laws, because they know our politicians are too spineless, and yellow with cowardice to enforce the very laws they wrote.
McCain and his straight talk express?? Well if he wants to tell the truth, he should just say that he Hates American Workers and wants America to colapse. his actions prove that…Obama and Hillary will just destroy it a week faster. Our Gov’t is a failure.
Hello Ice-yes, there is this illegal alien named Jose Ruiz registering people to vote, please pick him up.
Mr. Michael, I continue to receive emails, mailings and phone calls from the RNC and the McCain campaign (I actually gave and volunteered in 2000). I won’t give another dime for a long time either I’m afraid. In talking to my neighbor who isn’t registered to vote (she’s 38 and has never voted) I told her how important it is that she votes and has her voice heard. I even said I’d drive her to register and plan on doing it tomorrow. We live in PWC, VA, and Mexicans Without Borders is all upset because the cops are supposed to start cracking down on the illegals. I hope they do.
Also, I believe illegals vote all the time. I would venture a guess old Jose isn’t asking citizenship questions of those who refuse to follow our laws or learn are language.
Stories like these, the arragonace and impunity of the illegals, are why I will NEVER vote for McCain. If our country will be destroyed and made into a 3d world nation, let it be in the hands of democrats. A few MAYBE somewhat conservative supreme court justices will not save the USA if we create a socialist 3d world country. So, McCain is out for me aanyway you put it.
While I agree with the outraged sentiments above, I believe America is done. It’s like the move “13th Warrior” where the witch jabs our hero with the slow acting poison. In the end, he is a dead man. The USSR (and to a smaller extent, China) gave us the fatal jab decades ago. The slow poison of socialism is about to finish us off. Socialism is about power and these illegals are the newest voting base for the power seekers. Added to the addled native idiots, it is unstoppable now.
Last time I looked, there was plenty of sunlight back in Mexico! No need to hide in the shadows here! Heck! He isn’t even a proper anchor baby! What is he doing at San Jose State as an active felon?
And he has the gall to bitch and moan about conditions here! That open border works both ways (although you would never know it…).
If we know they are ‘Illegal’ they should already be on the bus back home.
It is a good thing I only have about 20 years to go: the Balkanization of America is proceeding apace.
Let’s not be too hard on them they only want their piece of the Mexican dream. The USA was founded by primarily former British islanders, Mexico is the land of the Spanish conquistadors. Britain and Spain were adversaries, we think things have changed but they haven’t it’s just a new chapter in a very old conflict. The US and Mexico have always been adversaries as well, up until the last few decades when the we chose to rewrite history to conform to the new PCMC ideology. Now we are seeing the result of that a completely distorted view of how we got where we are and what happened along the way. That is precisely how this lunatic fringe among us has been able to develop.
Excluding Bush’s WOT and tax cuts, I agree, he is right down there on the list of the worst presidents with Jima Carter.
At the risk of sounding all Machiavellian-like, I think these in-your-face voter registration drives, whether conducted by Jack and Jill or Juan and Juanita, pollute our nation’s political waters as the majority of these youthful new voters, when they even bother to follow through and actually cast a ballot, are too ill informed on the issues to make a reasoned decision on the candidates.
As others have said, “WHY is he still in MY country?”
In order to register to vote, you have to turn over your date of birth, place of birth, and Social Security number. But of course, no illegal alien student registering voters would DARE think of misusing that private information, right?
Seriously, there was a time when I thought people from Texas were smarter than that.
Coming up in this election, I fully plan on voting for a third party. ANY third party or “None of the Above” works for me!
