Newsflash: Bush “indicted” by two Vermont towns; Update: Hillary supporters cheer Vermont

Voters in two Vermont towns approved measures Tuesday calling for the indictment of President Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney for what they consider violations of the Constitution.
More symbolic than anything, the items sought to have police arrest Bush and Cheney if they ever visit Brattleboro or nearby Marlboro or to extradite them for prosecution elsewhere—if they’re not impeached first.
In Brattleboro, the vote was 2,012-1,795. In Marlboro, which held a town meeting on the issue, it was 43-25 with three abstentions.
“It really carries no weight,” said Brattleboro Town Clerk Annette Cappy. “Our town attorney has no legal authority to draw up any papers to allow our police officers to do so, but the gentleman who initiated the petition, got the signatures, wanted it on the ballot to make a statement.”
The measure in Marlboro isn’t binding because it didn’t appear on the warning for the meeting, according to Nora Wilson.
“It was emotional. There were heartfelt speeches on both sides,” Wilson said.
The question put to voters in Brattleboro referred to “crimes against our Constitution” but did not specify the allegations.
In Brattleboro, a steady stream of voters paraded into the Union High School gym to cast their ballots on a day when school board elections and Vermont’s presidential primary were also on the slate.
Voters interviewed after casting ballots said they saw the article as an opportunity to express their frustration over the war in Iraq and Bush’s tenure in general.

Here in Columbus, Ohio, Hillary Clinton will meet her public tonight after what looks to be a successful day in Ohio. The campaign is broadcasting CNN on a giant projector screen for the crowd of several hundred, which just cheered after seeing a graphic that showed Clinton with a large lead (so far) over Obama in Ohio. The next headline CNN displayed was “Citizens of Brattleboro, Vermont pass resolution to arrest Bush, Cheney.” The crowd went really wild at that.

Where in the Constitution does it give Vermont towns the authority to indict sitting Presidents? If they can’t show where they get this authority, are they not then violating the Constitution, and by their own logic, shouldn’t they be indicted themselves?
President Bush ought to retaliate by cutting off Brattleboro’s AIDS funding.

Boy, have times changed since Snelling was the governor of Vermont. A couple of times, I seriously thought about leaving Virginia and moving back home to the state. Both times I didn’t because the job opportunites weren’t what I wanted. Now, no family remains there; they’ve moved out. It used to be a nice conservative state. AlMeehan, that was the “battle” of St. Albans, 10/1864. Makes a nice trivia question.
Just had a thought…do you think we could trade Vermont to Canada, for, say, Nova Scotia?….and a hockey player to be named later.
It may be better to ask, where in their town charter or ordinances does it give them the right? Does this town have a law against violating the constitution. If they don’t, they have no basis for the charges.

The two lines that stand out to me in the article are “it carries no weight” and “it was emotional.” Typical moon bat propaganda. It carries the weight of a marshmallow and its supporters act like a bunch of 3 year olds who were just told they can’t it their way (I take that back. Maybe we should send the 10th Mountain Division stationed in nearby Watertown, NY to retake the two towns provided President Bush would be willing to suspend the Posse Comitias Act. Besides it would be a good urban combat training environment to keep them sharp for their next deployment.

Desdenova, I hear the same thing from my cousin in law (if that’s not a legal term-sorry) a native Vermonter. He says that like Oregon and Washington state, the libs and kooks “invaded” their land and it’s impossible to get rid of these fools. His folks still live there but his siblings all moved to ME, with the exception of himself-Joey & Karen move wherever the Air Force tells them to go.
Desdenova is right. There are still a few of us real Vermonters left, but very few. And many have been drawn away from reality by government handouts. But we are in the minority, and the leftwingers have stolen the state from us. Ethan Allen fought New Yorkers for all his life, but they finally won.
