Catherine Moy e-mailed the latest on the continuing battle over the Berkeley Marine recruiting center:

Mel[anie Morgan] and I visited Berkeley City Hall demanding that Mayor Bates increase police presence at the Marine recruiting center, arrest anybody breaking the law, and rescind the council’s anti-military resolutions. We told his aide that we will hold the city council responsible if there is more violence against recruiting centers. Mayor Bates can run and hide , but we’ll catch him and hold him to account.
The Code Pink brigade is still harassing the recruitment station. You would think they might give it a break in light of today’s NYC bombing at the Armed Forces Recruitment Center in Times Square.
But no.
They have no shame, no taste, no decency.

My journey the past 19 months adapting to my new role as a Gold Star Mother has taken me on a roller coaster ride of emotions as I ride through the grieving process. No one ever aspires to hang a Gold Star in your window or purchase that specialized license plate honoring the loss and sacrifice. Because of the heroic sacrifice my son Marc Alan Lee, the first navy SEAL killed on 8-2-06, I joined the ranks of many other Gold Star Mother’s who understand the deepest pain a Mother could ever have to endure. Unlike another Gold Star Mother who gained media attention who used her voice to discredit and dishonor her son and attack our President and the noble efforts our troops are making, I made the choice to use my voice and speak out in support of our troops and their leaders. I choose to honor my son and all of our brave men and women who have served and are serving so selflessly in the Armed Forces. My choice has taken me all over the world to thank and honor our troops, and to stand in the gap and fight for them, and tell there stories and successes. It is because of our Vets that I can do that and you are my heroes.
I have been blessed to join arms with Move America Forward, Gathering of Eagles, Eagles Up, Families United, Vets for Freedom, Freedom’s Watch and so many amazing pro-troop organizations and individuals who love and admire our troops and recognize what they give and do for my freedoms, for your freedoms, and for this countries freedoms. I know first hand the sacrifices our troops and their families make and I am sick and tired of the attacks from the anti-war, un-american , traitors who try to attack their noble character and make them out to be un-educated idiots who lie, murder and rape. I was in Iraq at Christmas and I saw there honorable character, there selfless actions and determination to successfully complete the mission.
The recent attacks and destruction against our Military recruiting offices is the latest appalling tactics from these liberal left lunatics! I addressed the Berkeley City Council on Feb 12th demanding they apologize and rescind their resolutions against our Marine Recruiting office and the attacks there. The attacks from Code Pink, ANSWER, SDS, and other anti-war groups was not limited to radical Berkeley but has been displayed in Ohio, Minn, Wisc, Tenn, Penn, Mass, Calif, DC, and just this morning the recruiting office in Manhattan, NY was bombed. Enough is enough! Our troops know that the risk of war could be the loss of life or limb in a combat zone from the enemy, but not in a recruiting office in America attacked by the people who they are willing to give their life for. This is no longer a freedom of speech issue, they have crossed the legal boundaries and must be held accountable. I am calling every American to call there local police departments and make them aware of the increasing attacks across America on our recruiting offices. Contact your elected officials and ask them to pass legislation protecting our troops and the recruiting offices. Contact your recruiting offices and thank them, take them coffee or pizza and let them know you are there for them and that you want to be informed of any protests or attacks on their offices. Join me and all of the pro-troop organizations that are coming together in DC from March 13th to the 17th to stand against the anti-war crowd and in support of our troops.
We cannot be apathetic any longer or these attacks will only grow worse and the minority anti-war crowd will be emboldened to continue their violence and destruction.

So you homeschool your kids and the state of California will bust down your door and haul you to jail.
You expose your infant to dangerous anti-war protests and you’re practically mother of the year.

I must say that as a homeschooler in CA, I am very concerned about this. We need prayers from everyone that this will be resolved on the pro-homeschooling side of things.

I wonder if some “nut” out there will take the idea of bombing and run with it. All it would take is pipe bomb there, and all heck will break loose. On second thought, the “all heck” might be a rally to cheer the bomber. The town is wierd enough.

The crazy thing about these anti military nuts, well, not the only thing, is that if their efforts succeed well enough then the government is going to be forced to reinstate the draft. What will these creeps do then? Who will they blame? They will only have themselves to blame. At least then we can put plenty of the nutroots into boot camp learning some discipline and personal hygiene while the rest of the freeloaders flee to Canada.
I don’t know what’s more disturbing: the morons protesting the recruitment effort of the fact that they are breeding.
At what point do Barbara Boxer or Diane Feinstein bother themselves about this? Aren’t they supposed to represent everyone in California?
Looking at the picture, it reminded me…wasn’t the reason the city council issued them the parking permit in the first place (in front of the recruiting station,) to keep them from blocking the sidewalk? How about enforcing the California Penal Code?
Bringing a child to an area that has a proven history of violence (the USMC Recruit Center) is provably child endangerment. Oh, wait a minute…I get it…this mother didn’t have the courage to abort at the time, but now finds the baby a useful political tool? They really do have NO shame!
It’s common knowledge that a “Code Pink” in a hospital means that someone is attempting to kidnap a baby.
Is this “Code Pink” trying to kidnap the minds and hearts of babies?
My heart aches for this Hero’s mother. Tears flow when I read her words.

I went to our local Navy recruiment office this morning – thanking them for serving, letting them know that at least some of us are supporting them. They seemed hesitant at first, but broke into big grins after getting a hearty “Thank you!”
When the Government only enforces the laws for those that agree with them there’s no longer the rule of law. Isn’t Berzerkly demonstrating the break down of the rule of law, and the rise of totalitarianism?
Too bad they don’t have the courage to get tubal ligations, and vasectomies. By doing so, they would be doing their cause a great service…eliminating a future/potential “Death Pimp.”
Be like the Earth-conscious greenling in England. Her act of sterility, in her mind anyway, will lessen human impact on the Earth, thus reducing her and her offspring’s carbon footprints.
My question is, where the H–L are President Bush and Governor Schwarzenegger on this?! The city council is making a point of refusing to uphold the laws and protect the station. That being the case, the State has the responsibility of stepping in and restoring law & order. And if the State refuses, then it is up to Washington to do the job. The Republicans in Congress who were pushing to strip berkeley of all federal funds should expand that to include the State government of California as well, and then demand Bush answer for why he has not stepped in.
Allowing this to go on only emboldens the anti-military crowd (if you don’t believe me, check the news coming out of New York City). Anyone with half a brain knows that this sort of thing must be nipped in the bud-and nipped hard-or it will only get worse. These anti-American lefties will get bolder when they see they can get away with it, but if they see that they can’t, when they see their comrades given harsh prison sentences (instead of the usual arrest-and-release), when they see that involving their underage children results in child abuse charges and convictions, they will cry, they will whine, they will scream bloody murder and all about how their “rights” are being denied them. Then, when that doesn’t work, they will go hide, because to them, “courage”-true physical courage, not the fake courage they love to congratulate themselves on-is as much a vice as “patriotism” is.
I wish I could question their patriotism but they don’t have any to question.
They bomb our Government facilities and act like they are Americans????

Has anyone looked into if this group has a close affilation with Hugo Chavez? I mean they love the photo ops is he I don’t know funding them? There are so many outside agents trying to effect the domestic interior of our country. I have to think the reason the press is covering them it is pre cordinated for effect by the pinkers and their handlers?
Why is it OK to block access to the military recruiting office but its illegal to block access to an abortion clinic?
Imagine the outcry if a city in the midwest decided that because the majority of voters in that city did not approve of abortion, the city council would allow organized pro-life activists to block access to the abortion clinic and enable protesters to harrass employees and patients and vandalize the premises by issuing them official parking passes for the clinic parking lot and refusing to prosecute flagrent law breakers among the protesters.
Chavez has moved at least 5 battalions of soldiers to the border with Colombia, and says he is a man of peace…uh, what’s wrong with this picture? It’s kinda like the Democrats saying “we support the troops.”
They have to grab the gray matter while it is still young and unexposed to reality. Indoctrination starts early.

Yes, it’s always nice to bring buy baskets of coffee and treats. When I was teaching full-time, I used to go by the recruiting office (I always got a Navy one because they always had handsome pilots on it-sexist I know
)and get one of their great desk calendars at the start of the school year. I would always bring by treats and coffee for them. They were always happy to get it. I guess I should start again and bring my kids with me. Hubby and I would like our little guy to go to one of the service academies or the ROTC one day. Being in the military is a family tradition.
As others have said, it’s a shame these folks breed.

Where are the social workers investigating “child endangerment” and abuse? They’re busy prosecuting women who leave an asleep 2 year old in the car, while they dash over to put money in a Salvation Army kettle (Chicago) for 90 seconds. I look at this people and I see persons who have nothing of value in their lives. Probably, not even HS graduates…just drifting. So, a cause comes up and they feel “important” now. I’d be willing to bet they have no concept of the country’s history or culture. All they know of the world is Berkeley. I’d bet,too, that they don’t even know where Iraq is, on a map.
Well we can see one reason why Code Pink wants Al-Qaeda to win… they share the same propencity to use innocent children as Human Sheilds.

As an aside:
I know it’s Berkeley and that their streets are probably a little cleaner than most, and I see there’s a blanket spread out underneath, but still, should that mom have her baby sitting on an unsanitary city-sidewalk?
If the U. S. ends up under the stewardship of a Dim in ‘08, it will be interesting to note if these attacks die down or continue.
Would it be wrong to extend a hand of friendship across the barricades, despite the politics that separate us, and maybe give these protestors at the military recruiting center, who honestly express their opinion of the military though we may disagree, a token of friendship, maybe a tray of brownies, perhaps?
