Good on GOE for planting the flag back on Times Square and showing support for the recruiters.

You can see the photos of the Times Square GOE rally here, hot from the Conservative Propaganda correspondent in New York.

Unlike the bombs the US Armed Forces drops on brown people around the world, this bomb hurt no one.

If they are referring to Iraq and Afghanistan, a good chunk of the population is WHITE. Have they ever heard of the CAUCUS mountains, or the idea that many Afghan Tajiks and mountain tribesmen are so light-skinned, you couldn't tell the difference if you moved them to Lapland.

Honestly, these racial arguments are getting very, very old, and most conflicts are based on ideology, not race.

Tell a leftist that and they'll either simmer in hatred or call you intolerant and ignorant and educated, but it's true.

lifeofthemind
Keep in mind that our hostess, MM, has written extensively on why the internments and detentions during WW II were not the evils that the left has tried to make them to be.

Yes, the Killing Fields of Cambodia, shown in Hollywood as hand in glove with American action, were actually the the Communist's orgy of violence resulting from our withdrawal from the Vietnam war. Keep that in mind when you want to go easy on these anti-war types.

Losing or giving in regarding war is way, way overrated.

Good idea; blame it on the PTSD. I feel like I am about to snap. "Sorry, officer; when i heard the BOOM I just reacted. I thought it was an IED and the bearded-and-Birkenstock-wearing guy was clearly the triggerman."

A tip of the hat to jwm. There is a history of Democrats with a spine that some need to remember. All this ineffectiveness and failure to defend the integrity of the political process and the institutions of national security is a fairly recent phenomenon.

The public schools make a big deal out of teaching about the Alien and Sedition Acts. This accomplishes two things. It allows for early indoctrination by demonizing the Federalists, who are used to stand in as proto-Republicans, and it gives the impression that the concept of Sedition was discredited almost two hundred years ago.

The fact is that the reference in the oath to "all enemies, foreign and domestic" was meant to be taken seriously. Every successful war this country has prosecuted has been accompanied by a vigorous domestic defense against those who would suborn the ability of the republic to defend itself. Lincoln suspended the writ of habeous corpus during the Civil War as the Constitution permits. Wilson aggressively controlled subversion during WW-I and FDR used every tool at his legal disposal, and a few more that he shouldn't have, to ensure our victory in WW II.

It is only after that War and the break with the Soviets that main stream elements of the domestic left rallied to the ACLUs campaign to emasculate the ability of the government to defend the nation. This has proceeded step by step until the party of RFK and JFK and Scoop Jackson has become the party that evicted Lieberman.

We are now in what the courts have recognized as the equivalent of a congressionally declared state of war. Actions that disrupt impede or threaten the ability of the government to fight the war give "aid and comfort to the enemy" and could be prosecuted as treason. If done by non-citizens then these acts would make those persons into "unlawful combatants" and subject to capital charges. Advocacy of such acts or other acts that do not rise to that level but support it could be charged as sedition. These tools are very much part of the current law. A reminder of that fact could have a most salutary effect.

Well, about the only good thing I can see out of any of this is that when the time comes, maybe the vast majority of the Military will be on the "Right" side when **it hits the fan ... I fear it will very soon be time to water and refresh the tree of liberty.

Oops! To be redacted :

That it “hurt no one,” was by sheer accident on your part and an act of the Lord’s Grace on the part of humanity!

The fixed version:

That it “hurt no one,” was by sheer accident on their part and an act of the Lord’s Grace on behalf of humanity!

Sorry for the misplaced blame; the perpetrators deserve the ire but, on the first reading, that piece really seemed to me to be an unwarranted excuse for the bombers.

Looks like the bomber has a pretty good chance of getting caught. There's probably some chance of fingerprints left on what's left of the bomb, or a distinctive signature of the bomber. However, there is an excellent chance of the grabbing fingerprints and other trace evidence off the abandoned bike, which the bomber obviously didn't think would be found nor connected to the bombing. And he made the mistake of picking a military recruiting office in Times Square rather than Cheboygan. The FBI's best are gonna be all over this. I'd say the bomber is overmatched.

Emphasis mine.

“No one was hurt”, “Crack this caper”, etc. They think of this as basically a prank instead of the vicious domestic terror attack that it was. These people just don’t live in the same world we do.

Yeah, fantasy ideology, "... he nonetheless made himself out as a hero — a hero of the revolutionary struggle. "

The bomber has gone further than most in acting out his fantasy, but nevertheless, everyone else "were there merely as props, as so many supernumeraries in his private psychodrama. "

cpodug said
never again!

I disagree - they will do it again given half a chance. They've been trying to do it ever since we went into Iraq.

As to these anarchists, almost all these acts occur in big cities. Almost all the liberals and lefties are the majority in big cities. Not much chance of punishment even if our great cops nab these traitors. Deja vu all over again.

In light of Hillary's bland response to yesterday's bombing in Times Square, has anyone noticed her archivist's statement today that all Clinton Library documents regarding pardons will remain sealed?

I suppose this will allow her and her husband's memos on pardoning the NYC bombing terrorists of the 1970s and 1980s to remain unread?

Sounds like a pretty convenient decision for her current campaign, as long as it remains unchallenged.

In light of Hillary’s bland response to yesterday’s bombing in Times Square, has anyone noticed her archivist’s statement today that all Clinton Library documents regarding pardons will remain sealed?

I suppose this will allow her and her husband’s memos on pardoning the NYC bombing terrorists of the 1970s and 1980s to remain unread?

Sounds like a pretty convenient decision for her current campaign, as long as it remains unchallenged.
