The Gathering of Eagles and many other pro-troops activists turned out in the rain yesterday to show support for the recruiters at Times Square.

The NYDaily News has coverage.

Dozens of demonstrators rallied in support of the military Saturday outside the bomb-damaged Times Square recruiting center.

“It backfired,” retired U.S. Marine Jim Behan said of Thursday’s early-morning bombing. “It just makes us respect the military even more.”

“If this bombing hadn’t happened, I’d be home reading,” added Behan, 66, of the upper West Side.

About 50 people sang “God Bless America” and waved flags at the event, which was sponsored by the Gathering of Eagles, a national group that usually rallies opposite anti-war protests.

Though the bicycling bomber’s motive remains unknown, many of the protesters assumed the blast was an anti-war message.

“Bombing something is completely unacceptable,” said Chris Hill, the group’s national coordinator. “It’s not peace activism. It’s terrorism. Period.”

GoE and a coalition of other counterprotesters including Freedom’s Watch, The Band of Mothers, Vets for Freedom, DC Protest Warrior, Eagles Up, Free Republic, and New England Warrior will be in D.C. on March 15 to answer the ANSWER/Code Pink demonstrations scheduled next week.

Texas loves it’s military folks! They are not afraid to say or show it. I was at a 96.7 Texas Twister event last week and they were having all who wanted to, sign a banner to send to the troops. I got a photo of one of the military folks attending.

What I really want to know is when did “Anarchist” get any kind of legitmacy? Why do I ask, I don’t hear the Left making any statements condeming this behavior of targeting military sites with violence? What is the message - statements, from the Democrat leadership? I know John McCain condemned bombing recruiting stations. What has Obama or Clinton stated about the NYC bombing?

If tomorrow all the things were gone
I’d worked for all my life,
And I had to start again
with just my children and my wife,
    I’d thank my lucky stars
    to be living here today,
‘Cause the flag still stands for freedom
and they can’t take that away.

I’m proud to be an American
where at least I know I’m free,
And I won’t forget the men who died
who gave that right to me
    ,
And I gladly stand up next to you
    and defend her still today,
‘Cause there ain’t no doubt I love this land
    God Bless the U.S.A.

I also remember a dipsh!T defending the Taliban before we started our campaign there. They were just a bunch of people trying to do they’re own thing, he said to me.

I wish the cowards and moonbats had the courage to show up for this Rally.

The “insurgency at home” have lost every battle so far. Their battles with George W Bush, Republican Congress, Democratic Congress have all failed.

Now all they can do is sneak out at 3:45 in the morning to attack a military recruiters doorway. — Spineless Cowards show up for the Rallies and take credit for your cowardly actions. — Eagles and Patriot’s are eager to see and hear you…. ;)

Great Job Gathering of Eagles, and all patriotic people who came out into the cold, windy NY rain to show support for our military recruiters.

    Eagles UP!

One thing you can do, if you can’t afford to make it(I live in MN) or don’t have time for the concentrated gatherings, stop by your local recruiting station with some gift certificates for coffee or lunch. Tell them straight up you appreciate the job they’re doing and that the stuff going on in Berkeley and New York is BS. Sometimes a little one to one is just as good as a big show.

I remember back in the day when retirees would stop by our recruiting office just to tell war stories and tell bawdy jokes–oooh, those were the days! We had our hands full with anti-Vietnam war hippies who didn’t just threaten, they killed recruiters, blew up staff cars, and physically threatened recruits. Love the GOE and appreciate they’re united front against these traitors. Eagles Up!!!
LGM #13 (Appropriate number for a troll): You, sir, are uninformed as you have never made the sacrifice of serving your country in uniform–time for you to go away from these posters who aren’t “assuming” anything.

I know I’m not alone and even though I may be one of the “few” who still support the Iraq War, I’m glad that there are those who can speak out for the military. Thank you Eagles! :)

You’re a clueless wonder as always, lgm. I love the subtle nuance liberals put on Iraq support these days. The “I support the troops but not the war” garbage has gotten old, especially for military spouses like me.

Opposing the war does nothing for our men and women in uniform but make things more difficult for them. You can live in your academic tower of blithful ignorance and still never understand why people go into the military in the first place.

It’s nice to see you exercising your troll and dash routine again here, lgm. Send our regards to the Troll Liberation Front, okay?

And a bad habit of liberal bloggers is: if you don’t know, blame Bush. When that fails, use yelling and ad hominem attacks in a lame attempt to put your opponent on the defensive. When that fails, have a riot and call it “dissent.” When all else fails, get in a drive by bicycle and drop off a bomb at the site that offends your seditious sensibilities.

As for “assumption,” do the terms “death pimps,” “assassins,” and an almost automatic willingness to believe (dare I say assume?) that all American soldiers are out to kill Iraqis, shoot babies and run over helpless dogs?

Seriously, if hatred of the honorable military was not the reason for the bombing, what could be? Did the bomber miss the pizza shop he (excuse me, he or she. Don’t want to assume anything, now do we?) really meant to hit? The loud music from within the recruiting office? Or perhaps feelings of inferiority induced in liberals when confronted by real heroes?

Should I assume that you won’t answer as usual? LOL!

I was fortunate enough to make it there on Sat. It was cold and at times, the rain was pouring. Yet, there were people who stood out in the rain the whole time I was there (about an hour) with flags showing their support for our troops.

During one conversation I had, the anti-war groups were mentioned, and some Viet Nam vets made mention that the VN war kept going because of the anti-war protests going on at that time, and that the same thing is happening now.

Another thing they mentioned was that the anti-war groups weren’t really “anti” war, they were anti-America. This is true and can easily be seen by those who attend the anti-war rallies. Communists, PLO and Hamas supporters, etc. This is something that I have seen as well, but am glad others have noticed it too.

Wish I could make it to the GoE in DC, but have to go help my in-laws move into their new place. I’ll be there in spirit though.
