Right in ‘08: The conservative campaign to end race/gender preferences
Last month, I urged dispirited conservatives to take an active role in supporting the candidates, officeholders, and issues that reflect our views and values. One of the campaigns I mentioned was my friend and hero Ward Connerly’s multi-state battle this fall to end discriminatory government race and gender preferences. Reminder:
Conservative stalwart Ward Connerly is leading a “Super Tuesday of Equality” drive in November to end racial preferences in five states. He has not only battled the race demagogues on the Left and the affirmative action apologists in the media, but also spineless GOP establishment leaders who would rather pander to the “diversity” lobby than fight for true equality under the law. Connerly spearheaded resounding victories in California, Washington, and Michigan. The new campaign is targeting Arizona, Colorado, Missouri, Nebraska and Oklahoma. Support his organization, the American Civil Rights Institute (www.acri.org).
While so many other false prophets preach the color-blind gospel, Connerly is, as I’ve said before, the real deal.
Volunteers have been hard at work gathering signatures for the five ballot measures that make up the Super Tuesday for Equality slate.
There’s a big announcement set for this afternoon in the battleground state of Colorado:
On Monday March 10th, Ward Connerly, nationally recognized advocate for equal rights, will join Valery Pech Orr, proponent of the Colorado Civil Rights Initiative (CoCRI), Jessica Peck Corry, volunteer with the initiative and other supporters of the Colorado Civil Rights Initiative for a major announcement. The announcement will occur at noon in the Press Room at the State Capitol.
What: Update on Status of the Colorado Civil Rights Initiative (Amendment 31)
When: Monday March 10th at Noon (12:00 pm)
Where: Press Room at the State Capitol in DenverThe Colorado Civil Rights Initiative (CoCRI) is dedicated to giving the people of Colorado the opportunity to end preferential treatment based on race, gender, ethnicity, or national origin by state and local governments. CoCRI will make Colorado a place of equal opportunity for all, not a state that uses preferential treatment as a tool to create “diversity.” Achieving “diversity” should never be an excuse to discriminate!
As I noted previously, the open-borders crowd and the racial rackeeters are up in arms.
Left-wing radicals sent signature blockers to try and intimidate citizens at petition-gathering sites. Here’s what happened in Oklahoma late last year:
And you can be sure there will be more where that came from.
Connerly and his volunteers are an example of principled conservative leadership at its finest. Everywhere they have taken their fight, they have won–and won big–against massive, entrenched liberal opposition, GOP establishment cowardice, and biased media coverage. Why? Because when push comes to shove, and when equal rights are on the ballot, the majority of Americans of all races and political parties resoundingly reject government social engineering in the name of “diversity,” color-coded treatment, and special preferences in the name of “equality.”
I urge those of you in Arizona, Colorado, Missouri, Nebraska and Oklahoma get involved and volunteer for the campaign. Anyone and everyone can donate and fight for the Right in ‘08.
This issue has been a top priority of mine since the nascent days of Connerly’s first effort, CCRI, in California. It’ll be a top priority on this blog until election day.
Remember: Don’t “calm down.” Get energized. We need all hands on deck.

Right ON, Michelle!!
While TOOOOOTALLY NOT supporting McCain with my vote, money, or anything else, I am in the fight.
Ward Connerly is an American hero, and deserves the support of conservatives everywhere, all the time.
This is a guy who has carried the ball in the face of crap very few of us could handle, and he’s done it with grace and dignity.
Amazingly, HE ALSO GETS RESULTS!!!!
I thank God for men like Ward Connerly.
Unfortunately, I am not in any of the states you listed above. However, I can donate to the cause.
Thanks for keeping us informed!
Thanks for keep us up on this, Michelle.
Like 30, I am not in one of the states listed but can, at least, donate something to help the cause.
good god, I have praise for the lady gathering signatures and the cameraman that neither of them slapped that woman into next week..
I hope everyone noticed the fact that the lady collecting the signatures was also a member of the black race …
“..this little white boy…”!!
Can she not see beyond the colour of his skin??
If `screetching Mantras` was an olimpic event, this lady would have to be captain of the US Team.
hmm.. no mention of Spain’s new socialist government Michelle?
well not new, but..
Whether she knows it or not Ms Irrational is helping to keep people “on the plantation”
Possible short list for VP?
Let’s see…. principled, conservative, outspoken, black….. Not a chance.
Ward Connerly is one of my personal heroes. I had the honor of meeting him at the Mackinac Island GOP Conference. He is the most articulate and confident advocate for repealing racial preferences.
Tulsa is a rather liberal city. So I’m not surprised to see that happening there. The Tulsa World is a liberal newspaper that wanted to publish a list of concealed carry license holders in the state. So I’m not surprised that they were saying it would end reverse discrimination, oops, I mean affirmitive action.
Fortunately, though, Oklahoma is a conservitive state. Our one Democrat in Congress is a Blue Dog who actually sits on the Board of Directors of the NRA.
That “woman’s” picture should be posted the whole internet over as a example of a fascist race prefrence whore.
Don’t you people know that only LIBERALS have rights?
Wow.
I WISH I could say I was surprised, but I can’t. Some people simply can’t … or won’t see beyond colour. (Nice spelling, Redog70. I thought I was alone.) Remember the woman who was living in a “slum” (with 60 inch plasma tele no less) shouting “Shut up, White boy!” three times?
And let’s call it what it is, tre; reverse discrimination. It’s been, accurately it turns out, called that before.
I myself have been the victim of reverse discrimination, back in my younger days when I was trying to become a police officer where I live. I obviously didn’t make it, but I do take solace in the fact that of all the minorities that were chosen over me, only one hasn’t been hauled before a review board. Let’s have three cheers for points based on the colour of your skin!
Unfortunately, I’m not in one of the states mentioned … but I do have a blog that I write. Unlike you, Michelle, I’ve only one reader. Me, so far.
I did show my sister the last time she visited, but this IS the same person who, upon hearing the CD I was listening to (The Cathedrals Reunion) said … and I quote; “How can you listen to that garbage?”
There’s your diversity … it’s only applicable if you believe the same way they do. Otherwise, you’re (Insert appropriate epithet HERE)
This is a long time coming. The whole diversity/muliculturalism meme has been around since the 70’s and I not only was a student of it in the 80’s/90’s but taught it just a few years ago. There is no equal treatment of race or culture in this society in regards to what kids are taught… it’s always someone’s fault…. whitey’s! We need such a proposal for public education as well.
Another interesting thing is the people protesting this ammendment. I always thought that liberals wanted equal rights for everyone. Who knew that those rights were really just for the oppressed, minorities, women, gays/transgendered/transexuals. I’m shocked!
That is one of those gross misnomers that I just hate.
There is no such thing as “reverse” discrimination. It’s like “reverse” pregnancy. It either is or is not discrimination predicated on race…
which, in the case of almost every “affirmative action program” that has burdened this nation for decades, is ONLY racial discrimination.
People can wrap it in social wonderfulness…or they can rationalize it any which way…
it is just as evil, and just as damaging to society.

Why don’t you link it to your screen name. Some of us might like to check it out.
That woman is a prime example of both typical liberal “debating” techniques (shout ‘em down), and liberal ignorance (inability to understand either the Constitution, state constitutions, or read basic English: to wit, her reference to that “mumbo jumbo stuff you can barely understand.”
She is a disgrace. I would have signed the petition twice, right in front of her, and said that I wasn’t going to, but her egregious behavior inspired me to sign.
She is no different from the gays in Massachusetts, who successfully fought a gay marriage referendum question on the ballot here, specifically because they KNEW it would lose. Likewise on “affirmative action.” There are some in the black community, like this woman, who are afraid to lose the gravy train, and have to compete on ability rather than melanin content.
I can hardly wait until blacks finally figure out that AA is detrimental to them in the long run, and merely keeps them as proles to the Democrat party and, I am sorry to say, useful idiots like this woman.
Fat chance in Hell, but a noble effort none the less.
That was so shrill my dog started barking.
I also looked for a link to your blog. Try it, you might get three or four us reading it. Good luck.
As for the racist on the video. What’s wrong with having blue eyes? Oh yah, I just answered my own question.
I would have taken the camara out of her face, and went up-side her head with it.
Thanks for the reminder Michelle. I don’t watch any local news and didn’t know this was today…darn, I could have gone downtown.
I have called Coloradocri (CoCRI) and have an appointment so I can get involved.
No news conference here from the Press Room at the State Capitol, nothing on live noon news either…will let you know when we see something.
( The lady at CoCRI said it might be the evening news before any video hits the public)
We did have three Girl Scouts say the Pledge of Allegiance this morning at the Capitol tho, and IT made the news.
And this: DENVER (AP) – Colorado lawmakers are considering a bill that would allow the state to execute people convicted of sexually assaulting children under 12 years old.
WOW.
Homeless help annual drive…
Ugly dogs…
Charlize..
OK, I’m done ‘live blogging’ from Denver news.
I’ll get back to ya.
I guess the petition blocker must be a quota hire for a customer relations job at the DMV.
I’ve worked in the community for my church, and you have racist house slaves like this loud mouth in the video that are the core of the lib dems.
Totally slaves and totally ignorant, and so tied up with their lies, that they cannot slow down and think, lest the come to the realization that they are dead wrong, and they have been basing their lives on the lies told them by the grievance mongers and race baiters.
The message of affirmative action is that it is sometimes OK to discriminate against people on the basis of race and color, and it is also OK to punish the children for the sins of the parents.
Proponents of Afirmative Action always justify it as a way to make up for past discrimination. But they never say how long this reverse discrimination should continue. After a while, those benefiting from afirmative action begin to believe it is an entittlement that should never end. But how long do you punish the children for the sins of the parents? How long does the next generation accept punishment for something they did not do before they begin to feel like victims themselves and the cycle starts all over again?
To assume that someone is automatically a victim because of the color of their skin is silly. There are recourses for individuals who can provide evidence that they have been discriminated against. It is time to say that discrimination based solely on race or color is never right. If not now, when?
::blink:: Well, you’ve gone off the deep end. Here are your eyepatches, your duct tape, your rope. Somebody’s gonna want to lynch you for that! But it won’t be me, don’t worry.
But I really feel sorry for that poor woman being accosted in the parking lot. How many times did she say “I just want to go home.” Even if it was just once…that should be enough.
As for my blog, a link to it is here: http://journals.aol.com/gregb1967/my-journey-my-journal/ Yes, it’s on AOL but I’ve had the account for over a decade now.
Just don’t expect too much. It’s a new blog and there isn’t much there.
“white boy”, “blue eyes”, shrill yelling over the top of anyone else, hardly stopping for breath (simply repreating phrases when she has nothing more to say so no one else can get in a word) a “don’t confuse me with the facts” type (would not read either the petition or the article she was waving around yet saying the she knew was it was all about, in typical liberal fashion), and then she physically assaults the guy with the camera.
Tool.
Can you imagine if their roles had been reversed?
He should have had her arrested, but it would probably be a waste of time.
