The continuing war on recruiters that the Left doesn’t want to talk about
On Friday, in the wake of the Times Square military recruitment center bombing, I published a special report on the Left’s escalating war on recruiters.
Prominent liberals and Democrat leaders raised their voices to condemn harassment of recruiters and called on left-wing, anti-military groups and anarchists to stop their hatred.
Actually, no. Of course they didn’t.
Instead, they pretended it’s all a myth.
Or ignored it altogether.
So I’ll keep writing.
Reader John at Verum Serum sends word of another military recruitment attacker who was just sentenced last week in Spokane:
A local man suspected of attacking two local military recruiting stations has pleaded guilty in federal court.
On Wednesday Travis Riehl was convicted on one count of damaging government property.
Riehl threw a rock through the window of the Washington Air National Guard building in 2005. He also painted an anti-war slogan and an anarchist symbol on the building.
He must now pay $5,000 restitution and be on probation for the next year.
Stalwart Melanie Morgan of Move America Forward will be in Washington this week for the big, pro-troops counterprotests and reports that her group will be holding a press conference on Friday to discuss the war on recruiters:

The announcement concerns disturbing information we’ve collected after extensive research into the work of anti-war/anti-military activists.

Meanwhile, the NYSun reports on the latest developments in the investigation. Fingerprints on a bike at the scene are being analyzed.
The NYPost adds:
Cops also want to talk to a 22-year-old Connecticut man who was arrested in February 2005 for allegedly throwing a burning rag at an Army recruitment post in the Parkchester section of The Bronx.
Police don’t believe the man is a likely suspect in the Times Square bombing but want to rule him out, a source said.
The recruiters in Times Square are back at work:
At the Armed Forces Career Center in Hempstead Village, a storefront office on Fulton Street, there was no unusually heightened security yesterday morning, said a Marine recruiter who would not give his name. Business went on as usual, with uniformed service members coming and going through a door with a buzzer-controlled lock.
A Marine Corps spokesman for recruiters in the northeastern United States said his colleagues have “a heightened awareness of what happened.” But he said he would not say whether the military had mounted specific changes to security in response to the blast in the city.
“As Marines, you remain vigilant about that stuff anyway,” said Capt. Donald Caetano, who is based in Garden City.
Caetano said top military officials notified recruiters by e-mail and phone that they should be alert in the wake of the bombing.

To all the recruiters out there: stay vigilent, stay safe, and still strive to find America’s best for the defense of our land.
Wasn’t there a time when we hung these traitors? Yes I am calling for their hanging….I question the patriotism of anyone who does not verbally condemn these violent acts against our military.
Show up on Saturday to show your support to the military down in DC and lets show the winter soldiers that we will not be silenced…NEVER AGAIN!!!
In spite of these attacks the military still meets and/or exceeds their recruitment goals. It must really sting to know that despite your greatest attempts to hamper the recruitment efforts they still flourish. This country still produces families who think it noble to serve their country. These people are the patriots. And may
God bless them – one and all.

I don’t question their patriotism at all, Jaded, because they have no patriotism to question.
In the meantime, as 30 pointed out, the Armed Forces are meeting, or exceeding, their recruiting goals.

Wow, that Campus Progress article linked above is an amusing read. This attack (only if it is proven to be anti-war motivated) offers the first proof to support the myth of the Crazy Liberal?!? Funny.

Oh, of course not…I think I hear those crickets chirping.
I agree with the recruiters about staying vigilant. Anybody who has military tags on their vehicles, wears the uniform in public, or is a military spouse or family member must also be vigilant. There’s always those “nuts” out there who want to “make a statement.”
I have a warning for these “nuts”: if you want to make a statement at the expense of the military, their property, or their family members, think again. You may be surprised at the the not so polite greeting you receive.
On a more sad note: please say a prayer for the 5 brave soldiers that we just lost in a suicide bombing in Baghdad.
We know that the Socialist and Liberal fringe of the Democrat Party despise the Military. They always have, including the Clintons, Obama, Pelosi, Reid and now Murtha.
There are no more FDR or JFK Democrats, just the Socialist and Liberal fringe in control now.
For them, supporting the troops means earmarking Federal Contracts for their Districts and jobs for their supporters.

I’m with Jaded. These people are traitors and should be treated as such.
My 17 year old son, who recently signed up with the Army National Guard, and I are both somewhat bummed out by peoples responses when we tell them that he’s joined. We both here a lot of “why” and I hear “Did you try and talk him out of it” type talk. It is very discouraging for him and for me. I’ve taken to just not talking to people about it. I am very proud of my son and he is proud to have chosen this path in his life. I thought the days of post Vietnam were really over but sadly not for a lot of people.
I don’t believe we should expect anything to happen from Washington on this. You certainly should not expect either Obama or Clinton to have anything to say about it, at least anything negative. The Democrat base is filled with these types of nuts, whether it is the ones bombing recruiting stations or ELF or ALF or otherwise.

Also get their business cards and give them to your high school kids to leave at school in high traffic areas. If the recruiters can’t come to the schools in your area, maybe the kids come to the recruiters.

I think this is about self hate, these people don’t like themselves, they have no self respect for themselves or others…the anti social outcast find each other…what would one of their meetings be like “I hate you and the response, oh I hate you too” I would send in mental health professionals.
Remember when that big group of anti-war protesters flew to Iraq to serve as a human shield for Saddam Hussein, and then they returned to the US all pro-war? These multitudes of frothing-at-the-mouth libs out there need some sort of similar reality check.

To answer your question, she appears to be “deeply concerned” by the detonation of a “small bomb” but I don’t see her in any way “condemning” the bombing; otherwise she would have simply condemned the bombing rather than voicing “deep concern,” right? I mean, what is she concerned about? As usual, she doesn’t clarify.
Secondly, she tries to comfort the public by stating that “there is an ongoing investigation into whether the attack is linked to foreign terrorist groups.” That’s great, but how about the ongoing investigation into whether the attack is linked to any of her friends in the anti-war movement? Pretty clever of her to disassociate any possible involvement of domestic terrorism, huh? Like, the domestic terrorists she did volunteer work for at Yale Law School, or the FALN domestic terrorists that she and her husband gave clemency to during her first run for the US Senate.
Thirdly, notice how she laughingly reminds us to remain “vigilant” yet characteristically refuses to provide advice or suggestions as to how to practice vigilance. This, in comparison to her public mockery and opposition to anyone who does practice vigilance (President Bush, General Petraeus, the passengers and crew of US Airways Flight 300, etc.)
Lastly, as was her main reason for issuing this confusing release, she never misses the opportunity to hammer home her empty commitment to give law enforcement “every resource and tool” to swiftly complete this investigation, to highlight her work and unwavering support for law enforcement to get the job done, blah, blah, blah. I’d like to see her support for law enforcement if this investigation leads to the raiding and interrogation of her friends in the anti-war movement.
Hillary Clinton is so over-scripted in her words, that she is simply not believable. For me, she never was.

Read/saw on Fox news today about one of our brave ones that won the Silver Star for bravely using her body as a shield while carrying 5 of her wounded comrades to safety. 19 year old Army Spec. Monica Lin Brown.
I’d like to make a proposal that we take up a collection to buy her a wheelbarrow. She surely must have problems carrying her balls without one.
Many years ago I took my 21 yr old son to a recruiting station in FL. My wife wasn’t too keen on it. He had been floundering in college and had dropped out. He had low self esteem. He took the test and did well. He was given a choice and he took Green Beret. Out of 110 guys he was one of 10 who remained. A few years ago he retired as an Army Major with 25 years of distinguished service, including a number of campaigns in Iraq. His son is considering service as well. Don’t dispare #11 B4itsover. Hang in there and encourage him.
On another note, sadly we lost 5 in Iraq yesterday while these nuts attack our boys here at home as well. Wake up America!
The Liberals have been right all along. The Iraq War and the War Against Islamic global Domination has become another Vietnam. However, it has not done so in the way in which they thought it would. It is not the “Quagmire” that they have labled it since before we launched the first salvo. No, instead, it is the new Vietnam in a much uglier, nastier, more embarrassing way.
The Liberals and Democrats have made this the New Vietnam by re-inventing the very things that brought shame and degradation to the men and women of an entire generation, that sent this country into decades of depression and malaise, that left the men and women that served this country with pride and honor depressed and suicidal, and have done so in ways that could not even have been imagined 40 years ago.
Thanks to modern methods like the Internet, the hatred, lies, bigottry, and violence of the Liberals and Left-Wing have done what they could not even dream of doing in the Vietnam War era. This time, however, they do the spitting on the troops, the violence towards the men and women serving this country, their anti-American activities, their traitorous, seditious activities, and their assisting in the handing over of a victory to our enemies wrapped in the lie of “We Support the troops”…a lie which they would never have done back in the 0’s and 70’s.
they learned back then, that you had to wrap yourself in the word ‘Patriot”, and that those on the Right would be afraid to say that they were un-Patriotic”. All they had to do was say, “Are you questioning my Patriotism?” and the Right-Winger would back down, allowing the Liberal to run rough-shod everywhere with their stuff and nonsense, allowing them to spread their lies until the lies became the truth.
Lead by the aging hippies of yesteryear, they recruited the mush-brained youths of today by use of colleges and the Internet, making it appear “Hip” to hate the military, America and the President. All they had to do was say, “It is Patriotic to do this” and that would end the argument.
Well enough is enough. It is past tiime for people in Washington to stand up for what is right. It is past time for people to stop this nonsense and say, “No, Sedition and Traitorous actions is NOT Patriotic”. It is time that those of us on the Right actually take to the streets ourselves and stop these hippies, dippies and others.
Take them to task. Do not allow any Liberal to say the “Support the Troops”. Do not allow them to call themselves “Patriotic” Keep the definition of ‘Patriot”, “Traitor” and “Sedition” with you and make sure they know what it is they are doing. Those that are actually high up in power, you need to seek out the attorneys…Federal Attorneys and seek out Federal Indictments against the leaders of these organizations such as Code Pink and others and nail them with Treason and Sedition charges. They over-stepped the First Ammendment so long ago it isn’t funny.
If we are to have any hope at all of maintaining this country as the Republic it is meant to be, without it being torn apart at the seams from within, then we need the law to be upheld, and for the people who are in charge, the ones who actually know how and have the power, to actually stop sitting on their hands and end this nonsense, stop the “New Vietnam War” and bring these Traitorous, Seditious Animals to justice immidiately.

I’d like to see the recruiters venture outside and remove the creeeps from in front of their station, they are only protecting their right to do business as licensed and themselves.
