Burberry Burka: ABC News punked Update: Scratch that. They’re serious!

By Michelle Malkin  •  March 12, 2008 05:00 PM

I saw this burka fashion show photo gallery at HAHeadlines this morning, and HA readers immediately detected that the goofy burkas–including the Burberry burka–were satirical.

Looks like ABC News got punked.

Will they update their story?

SOL.

Update: My bad! They’re serious!

The shameless hushes in the fashion show were actually showing leg and forearms. Don’t they realize this will drive Muslim men into uncontrollable rages of lust resulting in rabid rape gangs?

I love it when the MSM gets punked! :D

Technically, the forward slash means you are turning that attribute OFF, like so:

I want to have all of Geraldo’s babies.
    /sarc

    Just trying to be helpful.

i pulled this off the islam in europe group on yahoo….rrrrigghtt

Tonje Nordmo, Maria Kartveit (owner of markedmoskva according to a who is lookup) and Cedric Stevens of the Norwegian fashion house Marked Moskva have come out with a Norwegian burka collection. I don’t think they’re clear themselves on what they want to show, but they did get a lot of attention. The Muslim women present at the show, wearing hijab and jeans, were not as impressed and were in fact quite upset, saying it was discriminatory and put Muslims in a bad light.

The fashion house had come out with provocative designs before. In the past they had a ‘junkie clothing’ line, inspired by the ‘drug addicts on the street and their fantastic aesthetics.’

Why did they create a burka collection?

They want to create a new burka collection that show more of a person’s personality and that is adapted to the Norwegian climate and lifestyle. This way Norwegian Muslims can do ‘more Norwegian’ things without feeling like outsiders. Such as wearing a jeans burka to go to a cafe.

They claim they got positive responses from Muslim girls, but they’re not aiming only at Muslims.

Mariak Kartveit: There are certain advantages to a burka. We will make it possible for Norwegians to wear a burka. Only we sell burkas in Norway.

They say a burka gives one freedom, and is a supplement to the daily wardrobe. when one wants to hide, or has a bad hair day.

That’s funny, I don’t care who ya are!!

I thought some of them were some dang sexy burkas and doesn’t that kind of defeat the purpose of wearing one?
I dare the models to go to Iran and wear one.

    From Yahoo News:
Burka fashions by artists “Marked Moskva” in Oslo March 8, 2008

That shoulda’ been a clue to those “journalists”. The designer outfit is an artist group, not only a clothing designer. A simple Yahoo search of their other stuff shows it is more performance art than serious marketable fashion.
