Jeremiah-gate: Glowbama’s losing his glow Update: Report: Obama nodded in agreement last summer
Update: Via The Autonomist…
Wright laced into America’s establishment, blaming the “white arrogance” of America’s Caucasian majority for the woes of the world, especially the oppression suffered by blacks. To underscore the point he refers to the country as the “United States of White America.” Many in the congregation, including Obama, nodded in apparent agreement as these statements were made.
Maybe Obama will argue that he was nodding off to sleep and didn’t hear.

I’ve been tied up on a business trip (thank you to See-Dubya for guest-blogging this afternoon and evening!) and just caught the re-run of Major Garrett’s interview with Barack Obama on Hannity and Colmes.
Wow. You could see Glowbama’s halo flickering. He looked and sounded nervous, shifty, and truth-challenged as he tried to have it both ways with Jeremiah Wright (whom he continued to praise as a “Biblical scholar” and “well-regarded” even as he paid lip service to disavowing him and denied eeeever hearing Wright’s vitriol).
In other words, he looked like a typical politician.
As expected, Obama’s defenders have whipped out the moral equivalence card. Sister Toldjah puts the m.e. card through the shredder and adds:
By the way, I’m calling Barack Obama out on the outrageous lie he told today about not being present in Wright’s church when he made the offensive hateful remarks that have been circulating in the news media this week. As I said earlier, this is like Al Gore’s “iced tea” defense - and similar Bill Clinton’s stupid claim that he “didn’t inhale” a joint when he had one in his mouth. There is absolutely no way in you know where that in his 20 year association/mentorship/friendship with Rev. Wright that he never heard any of Wright’s controversial sermons. BO remarked tonight that had he heard any of them, he would have stood up and told Wright that what he was saying was “unacceptable” and went on to say that had he detected a “pattern” with Rev. Wright’s hateful sermons, he would have left the church. GMADB! He knew. He’s pulling the same ol ‘okey doke’ (see definition 3) that he slams “Washington insiders” for doing.
Obama’s minimization strategy–implying that Wright’s diatribes were cherry-picked rarities out of hundreds and hundreds of sermons–also failed miserably. “Black liberation theology” (with all its attendant anti-American pathologies) is Jeremiah Wright’s bread and butter. Wright knows it. His congregation knows it. Obama knows it.
And now, for whatever reason this story finally broke into the MSM after buzzing on blogs and talk radio for nearly a year, the rest of America knows it, too.
Hillary Clinton is a happy, happy woman tonight.

Reader Ken e-mails:
It struck me how much the song “Losing my Religion” is appropriate for Obama:
That’s me in the spotlight
Losing my religionOh no I’ve said too much
I havent said enoughOf every waking hour I’m
Choosing my confessionsThe hint of the century
The slip that brought me
To my knees failed
David Bernstein at The Volokh Conspiracy quotes from an article in the Christian Century on Trinity Church:
There is no denying, however, that a strand of radical black political theology influences Trinity. James Cone, the pioneer of black liberation theology, is a much-admired figure at Trinity. Cone told me that when he’s asked where his theology is institutionally embodied, he always mentions Trinity. Cone’s groundbreaking 1969 book Black Theology and Black Power announced: “The time has come for white America to be silent and listen to black people…. All white men are responsible for white oppression…. Theologically, Malcolm X was not far wrong when he called the white man ‘the devil.’ … Any advice from whites to blacks on how to deal with white oppression is automatically under suspicion as a clever device to further enslavement.” Contending that the structures of a still-racist society need to be dismantled, Cone is impatient with claims that the race situation in America has improved. In a 2004 essay he wrote, “Black suffering is getting worse, not better…. White supremacy is so clever and evasive that we can hardly name it. It claims not to exist, even though black people are dying daily from its poison” (in Living Stones in the Household of God).
Wright agrees. When I asked him whether white Americans are right to maintain that the racial situation has improved since the days when Africentric Christianity was born, Wright pointed to the racist remarks by radio host Don Imus: “And you say things have improved?”
Echoes of Michelle Obama.
Or vice versa.

Newsbusters exposes how the MSM bungled the story and is reminded of 2004:
Why, this late in the primary season, are we still discovering that they haven’t asked any of the hard questions? We are starting to see the same disturbing pattern we saw with John Kerry in 2004. The media didn’t see its job as vetting John Kerry as he told everyone he was the bravest of war heroes. When the men who fought with him on the swift boats told a different story, the media tried to ignore them.
The media was saying “print the legend,” and suggested that when opponents try to vet the Democrat, when they try to do the job a supine media blatantly failed to do, it was then the media’s job to vet the opponents and question their sincerity, not vet the Democrat.
The news media doesn’t see its job as informing the electorate. They see their job as getting the Democrat past the electorate.

The apologists are saying that Grand Dragon Wright has a 30 year career of doing good and he shouldn’t be judged by a few words pasted together.
Yeh, just like disgraced Former Democratic Governor Spitzer.
Now we know why BO doesn’t wear a flag pin and doesn’t put his hand over his heart when hearing the national anthem. This guy is a shell of an American. A mirage who is just now getting the bright light. What I see doesn’t look very good. Lawyer/politician speak is not what he needs now. BTW, I don’t want a POTUS that has such bad hearing. Somebody get this guy some hearing aids.
How is it that I, a white man living 1500 miles distance from Bigot Wrights church has had knowledge of this racist, America hating jerk but Obama says he knew nothing about it?
One thing’s for sure, Michelle Obama has heard many a racist diatribe by Wright. Listening to her U.S. hate filled speech is very similar to Wright.
Ding, ding, ding. We have a winner. Glowbama. I love it.
Interesting so because the MSM is tough on Republicans we have less stumbles than dems who get a free pass and expect a free ride all the way to the White House.
Truely the MSM is the democratic parties best friend and worst enemy.
These videos are beyond disturbing. And on O’Reilly tonite both guests on the topic said this is preached in all black churches? Huh?
Not preached in all “black churches”.
Hopefully not preached in many.
Shouldn’t be preached in any.
He’s only “denouncing” it now because it’s become public. How strange that he didn’t denounce it for TWENTY YEARS.
He really, really wants to be president, so he’ll say anything.
Obama was bestowed the crown by the Dems and the MSM. Now , as usual, we find out that their candidate is a nut job. At least I know McCain is an open borders ignoramus, who can hardly read.
From the Huffington Post:
The lefties are going nuts with this and showing their true colors. This is great! Pass the popcorn.
Worst thing about “discovering” such “news” about the Dim CandidateS is that the GOP has worked extremely hard, excrutiatingly hard, to make sure the GOP Voters are in NO POSITION WHATSOEVER to capitalize on it, with a candidate like John McCain, selected for them by the Dims at the express invitation of the GOP leadership at the national committee.
Still, it is extremely odd and schizophrenic of the Dims to be home to KKK, like Robert Byrd and the Abortionists, on one hand, and the Jesse Jackson/Al Sharpton, Louis Farakhan/Obama/Wright movement on another hand, and sucking up to CAIR while sucking up to NAMBLA, sucking up to criminal anti-Justice, plus the ACLU/UN crowd all in one soup mix.
Still, all in all, the more you say about THAT, the more I don’t understand why John McCain don’t just pull out his guitar and sing some John Denver song about wanting to be home once again, and wandering off to the Dim Convention this summer, instead of the GOP convention.
If Black Theology is an actual theology, then I have some theological questions.
Is white evil inherited like original sin?
Did it originate when whites began oppressing blacks, or is this a genetic, “Mark of Cain” or “Sons of Cannan” thing?
If it did originate when whites began oppressing black, do black Egyptians, who practically invented slavery, or Arab and African slavers and slave owners and their descendents bear the same stain on their souls as the white man?
How black does one have to have one’s soul purged of this white evil? If Obama had married a white woman, would his kids be evil? Or is 1/4 black enough to blot out the sin. What about their kids, if they maried a white person, would their kids (being 1/8th black) be evil? If so, is it theoretically possible that Obamessiah could have evil, white grandchildren?
Put me in the “I can’t believe this is happening in America” category.

This is what some of Pastor Wright’s comments remind me of such that he’s preying on the fears and suspicions of his congregation. What a horrible thing for a leader to do. This is the kind of identity politics I thought Obama wanted to avoid, as being part of “politics as usual”. But it’s what I’d imagine a Klan rally to be like — the leader throwing out hate beyond reason and the crowd becoming energized by it. Obama was never there for any of that? Really? Not ever?
Everytime I turn around, one or the other candidate is in “hot water” for something. It seems to me that they are alternating. I guess now, it’s Hillary’s turn again, to fall on her face and get the spin doctors to work overtime. Cattle futures would be a good start. By the time the convention comes around, we’re going to be looking at some badly soiled, disheveled candidates, too stunned to say anything but, “uh,uh”. There are many bones left rattling in their closets. As the saying goes, if you want to find out everything about your life, run for office.
Sen. Obama
You’ve been going to Rev. Jeremiah Wright’s hate rallies for 20yrs.
He performed your marriage. He baptized you daughters.
The title of you book THE AUDACITY OF HOPE was lifted from a Rev. Jeremiah Wright sermon.
Your wife speaks the same language as Rev. Jeremiah Wright.
Sen. Obama — YOU ARE DONE.
It it time to withdraw from the race for president and resign from the US Senate.
Not only did BO wait 20 years to disavow Wright’s hate-speech; Major Garrett reported that as of Friday morning, when he asked the campaign manager if BO needed to create any more distance or say anything more about the subject, the email response was one word: “No.” Then, a few hours later, BO starts making the rounds on TV. So it’s obvious that he didn’t intend to disavow anything at all until he absolutely HAD to. Phony.
Of course he had heard such speeches before. Does he think we all just fell off the turnip truck? Wow. That really highlights the complete arrogance of a man who thinks he’s so special everyone will believe anything he says. Well, why wouldn’t he think that with the media falling all over him and women swooning at his rallies? This speaks volumes about Barak and his wife and it needs to stay on the front burner. The news media needs to ask harder questions when dealing with Mr. Obama and we need to hold their feet to the fire regarding their double standard of what is hate speech and what is not. All hell would have broken loose by now had that been a Republican’s church and pastor; even more so if said pastor was a “spiritual advisor” and “mentor” of said Republican.
BO knew perfectly well what Wright was - a racist America-hater. He’s known it for 20 years. Since he has been very involved with the racist church for 20 years I can only assume he agrees with what Wright stands for. We know BO’s wife thinks like Wright.
However,too many high visibility democrats have hitched their wagon to this horse. They cannot afford to let him to fail now.
Obama’s real failure in all of this 20 years of patronage of REV Wright’s church is subjecting his family to his venom for all of that time. It’s the utter lack of judgement in doing so (regardless of whether he “agreed” with what Mr. Wright said during all of that time). Can someone that blind and irresponsible be the prime leader of a great nation, let alone a 3rd world banana republic? Barack Obama is probably the worst presidential candidate I have ever seen run for the office, and he’s likely going to be the democrat nominee…
Exactly!
The MSM tries to get these Oprah fans and girly men to get a “bad feeling” about any Republican elected, so it has been 7 years nonstop negative press towards and unflattering photos of President Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney. Superficial people are influenced by this negative campaign by the media.
Now these Oprah women and girly men want a “savior,” like German wanted a “savior” in the 1930’s.
Hopefully, there are still enough thinking and moral individuals in America to see through this campaign and prevent the Marxist/Islamist “savior” from being elected.
I agree. He wouldn’t be there if he didn’t actually believe what Rev. Wright believes.
Finally, the rest of the country is starting to see the “picture” of who Obama really is. We’ve seen a little bit, from what Michelle Obama said, and his failure to put his hand over his heart, to his questionable relationships. He’s gotten a pass by the media up until now and now the media and Democrats will pay the price for ignoring it… that despite the platitudes, Obama is just another far left extremist trying to sound like he’s not just to get elected. Do your homework next time folks.
As Michelle said, after more than a year into this presidential campaign the main stream media (MSM) is just now paying attention to the formative influences affecting this candidate. Be it business, religious or otherwise these issues were known and suppressed by the old media. And I’m sure this is true for all the candidates.
2008 will be remembered as the last presidential election where the candidates were picked by the disloyal media. We are stuck with having to choose from three losers (at this point) chosen by the far left media. I doubt the MSM will ever again have this influence on we the people.
Long Live the New Media.
Liberation theology has at its roots, hate America first. The ethnic grievance industry has no problem taking “rich white American’s” money while trashing all the values that made and makes this country great. The “rev” Wright raked it in and Obama help feed this spewer of hate. Ari nailed him when he said he is denouncing it only because he was smoked out. It is obvious because of the bloggershere the MSM couldn’t keep the smoke from seeping through the cracks.
While this stuff coming from BO pastor is disgusting-its not suprising since I have heard simuliar sermons by black pastors in Memphis and in the nearby counties. Especially when it comes to the way they refer to Rep Steve Cohen.
Of course, we cannot all forget our favorite reverands jackson and sharpton and their history of bigotry.
29victor-Good theological questions and I would be open off thread to discuss some of them with you.
Particularly Israel that was kept as slaves for over 435 years by the Egyptians.
GSP
Bo is truly a miraculous man. He has been drinking from a poison well for twenty years and lo and behold, he can ingest the good water and reject the poisoned water. He must be messianic, he must be the one. BO=BS.
I’ve run into the moral equivalence defenders on other blogs. “All churches preach the same way to some degree…blah, blah, blah…” It won’t detract from his hardcore base because that’s either 1) how they think all churches are (the seculars and atheists) or 2) how they think all churches should be - hating America and liberal as can be on social issues.
I noted in the speech the good Reverend talked about “killing innocents” (last night was the first time I had a chance to sit down and listen to the whole thing) - wonder if he ever had a conversation about Obama’s love for sticking scissors in babies’ brains, or his inexcusable “No” vote against the Born Alive Act. Every 25 seconds, an innocent is killed in America. And an alarming number of those babies are also minorities. I bet you all breakfast you don’t hear a sermon damning Planned Parenthood from Rev. Wright.
Obama knew. He had to. If he was as “strong” a Christian has he claims to be, he was in the pews of that church on more than one Sunday. And the sermon heard ’round the world was not a one-time deal.
Just wasn’t.
This is not what’s preached by a majority of black ministers or in a majority of black churches. So that defense is out the window.
Obama knew, still knows. I’m sure his camp is scrambling to figure out what to do.
As I’ve remarked on other posts, could it be possible that the Democrats have rustled up another candidate who will be defeated? Who’s so terrible that he turns off a majority of Americans?
Memo to John McCain’s staff and advisers: CAPITALIZE ON THIS. Choose a truly conservative VP nominee (Thompson comes to mind, Romney wouldn’t be bad either). Put the fire to Obama’s feet and call him out on his beliefs on America, patriotism, and his love of his “mentor” Rev. Wright. Make the questions direct, brief, and pointed.
Keep your nose clean. Make amends for stupid things like Shamnesty and McCain-Feingold.
And you just might win. We need you to win.
We don’t want Rev. Wright with his foot in the White House.
MO’s comments in Milwaukee about “being proud of her country for the first time in her life” makes sense given what she has been listening to for 20+ years. BO and MO are classic hate and blame America first lefties. And to think that they still have a chance to occupy the White House is chilling.
The good “reverend” might as well just grabbed Oblahma, tied him up with rocks around his ankles and tossed him off the end of the Pier.
I bet when Michelle Oblahma saw this playing over and over on every station she had gears and smoke coming out of her head from anger.
Lets here her defence about this situation, if anyone can find her. We know all the blah blah blah he will say trying to weasel out of 20 years of listening to this guy, I want to see how shes reacting also. Stick a fork in Obama, he’s well done, Hillary picks up the nomination now as easily as a room service steak.
lets HEAR… geez more java….
I will grant that black liberation theology is not preached in all black churches, but it is preached in varying forms and degrees in an awful lot of them. I spent nearly nine years, all of them dreadful, in Chicago and I can assure you Wright’s message has been internalized throughout the black community. However, the real problem I have with this, over and above the MSS’s determination to run cover for Obama regarding this racist monster (cover which Obama was clearly counting on) is that we are left once again wondering just what this man truly believes. We still have no idea, nothing to work with. Judging from the people he surrounds himself with, who have guided him and supported him for a generation, and judging from his voting record, we can say with evidence that we now have a radical black leftist drenched in race, yet who is able to project himself as transcending it. This is guile and charm with a vengeance.
Again, in all his flapdoodle about Hope&Change, we never get any specifics. He dismisses Wright’s public obscenities as “divisive” but what we have to know is: does he think they are true? If I shout out Obama’s middle name at a crowded rally, I will be scolded as racist and divisive (by McCain no less) — but it is still his middle name.
Does Mr. Obama believe that the U.S. government created AIDS to kill people of color? Does he believe America is evil and got what it deserved on 9/11? If he can’t or won’t answer these questions and articulate his own statements regarding them, and explain why he never confronted Rev. Wright with his disagreements, we can only conclude he is a liar. A brilliant, charming, personable liar, but a liar nevertheless, and one of such abject depravity that he should never be allowed near a position of public power again.
Thanks, Michelle,
I also saw the interview with Obama by Major Garrett. Obama was given the chance to answer this question (paraphrased)..If you were in the congregation and heard this type of hate speech/anti-American speech by “Rev” Wright, would you leave the church? Senator Obama did not give the correct answer of “yes.” His milquetoast answer—and showing his true allegiance—was that he would not judge any man on one statement; and that he did not know of some of the statements until now. A true politician answer who is hoping he can skim the surface of this issue and that magically it will go away.
He also stated that he was never in the congregation when the hate-white-people-America speeches were made.
I hope there is a video somewhere showing Obama in the audience during one of these “sermons” against America, as that will be the last nail in the coffin for Obama.
I think this type of racist “sermon” was a regular part of this church—and what is preached many Sundays. After all, the website of Trinity United Church of Christ says this:
http://www.tucc.org/about.htm

I realize that Al Sharpton has laughingly gained “legitimacy” in the MSM since 1987, but if that fork is still hot, Hillary should be questioned and held accountable for eight years of NYC political ties to this civil rights violater with the funny hairdo.
IllegalsBloggers are doing the work thatAmericansMSM refuse to doGood to hear someone finally was able to make the Obamination look like the empty suit and feckless politician he is. Major Garrett did an outstanding job of doing what the entire MSM should have been doing this entire election cycle. As Newsbusters wrote:
I guess Fox News still functions as a news channel with this rare exception into investigative reporting. Our family has really been turned off by the tabloid content and I rarely turn it on anymore.
The exposure of the Obamination as the anti-American liberal he is has been long overdue. His refusal to wear the flag of the United States of America, the blatant racism of the church he attends, his wife’s loathing of this country (with all the advantages she and her husband have been given thanks to affirmative action), and the total lack of accomplishment as a U.S. Senator by this empty suit show how dangerously unqualified this man is to be our next POTUS. I have to agree that “she who must not be named” must have been doing the happy dance last night watching this interview. Hopefully this will damage him beyond repair and make the mindless masses supporting him wake up to how unqualified he is to be the most powerful person in the world.
I understand that cds and tapes of the ’sermon’ are on sale at the ‘church’.
I watched Obama’s interview on CNN and Fox News, and both times he said the first he’d heard of “some” of these remarks was when he was starting his run for the presidency, which would have been in 2007. He claims to have issued statements then that he did not endorse what Wright had been quoted as saying. Does anyone have a copy of that statement? Why is this only now being mentioned as a get-out-of-jail-free card?
Watch the interview with Obama by Major Garrett. Obama is lying. How can you tell? The space between his words. He is talking like he has to think of every word he is saying. With the added plus of ahhh’s and umm’s.
Oh, and kudos to Major Garrett for pointing out to Obama that he named Wright to an important advisory post on Dec. 4, 2007, nearly a year after distancing himself from the unspecified remarks that Wright had made earlier. And Obama hasn’t specifically said what he objects to, just to the controversial remarks in general, just in case he should miss some. No, not very convincing.
Local BHO support group writes letter to editor about his “substance”: He cares… (no clue how his caring would cost
themus.)I think McCain is attempting to capitalize on all this distracting influx of racism into the Democrats’ beauty pageant: First, by staying out of it, he’s not sullying himself; second, he’s giving us a presidential preview by taking an excursion abroad to meet with various world leaders and dignitaries.
McCain is sly, and he may pull this out for the Republicans yet!
Bullseye. The denouncing a statement or two here and there means nothing. Obama is coming out to denounce this guy only because it is now a career necessity.
Denouncing a controversial statement does nothing to undue the fact that for the past 20 years Obama chose to associate himself with this guy. He chose to call him his mentor and spiritual advisor. He chose to have him marry him and his wife. He chose to have him baptize his children, and he chose to appoint him to his religious advisory committee. He is running on a platform of being able to have the best judgment (i.e. not going into Iraq), but for 20 he made the decision to have Jeremiah Wright as his pastor, mentor, and spiritual advisor.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Last night on Hardball, Chris Mathews had a quote of Wright’s where he said that if Obama made it past the primary, it would be important for him to distance himself from Wright. He also said that he had talk to Obama about doing that and that he agreed that he would have to. (Video here: Click on link for Obama’s pastor problem)
The same people that did not want to make a big deal out of this , are the same people that picked our GOP nominee for us…This kind of hate speech goes on all over our country thousands of time’s a week to hundreds of thousands of people..And everyone knows it.
Here is the text for that comment about having to distance himself from wright - Michelle is on top of her game!
Not in my circles. adding this is not just hate speech its down right ignorant.
If Obama ever gets interviewed again, I’d like to know answers to the following:
1. Do you believe the US government is responsible for spreading the HIV virus?
2. Do you believe bombing Japan at the end of WW II is justification for the World Trade Center attack of 9/11?
3. Do you believe the US government is involved in the drug trade and poisoning black men? Do you believe black men convicted of crimes should still be presumed innocent because blacks have been oppressed by whites?
4. Do you believe that all white people in the US today are accountable for the injustices of slavery and segregation?
And instead of “yes” or “no” answers, I’d like to see what he has written or done that clearly separates Obama from the kind of racial politics Wright so openly embraces. Glittering generalities and the “old uncle” argument are not going to cut it.
Until this, I had thought that if a dem were to win the presidency in 2008 I’d rather it be anyone but the Clintons. I’ve changed my mind. Obama sounds like a nightmare just waiting to happen. If after 20 years he wasn’t aware of Wright’s hatred toward the United States and “whitey”, how could he have the ability to understand world issues he may face as president? Although I’ve not seen it mentioned, I’m betting some of the angry black “leaders” (Sharpton, Jackson, etc) are just waiting for Obama to be elected so they can push for reparations and who knows what else. And any time Obama is opposed, screams of racism will arise.
Gunslingerpatriot… I grew up near Memphis and still visit family there, you are correct… can you imagine the corruption of Memphis on a national scale? Maybe Willie Herenton is hoping to be Obama’s VP pick.
Moving to Australia is looking better to me every day.
Bullseye! That is why BO has waited so long to address this and is trying to walk a fine line. A great many black people buy into what Wright is saying…. BO is trying to do damage control while losing as few votes as possible - weighing his options, if you will.
This is indicative of how much power the radical Black separatists that dominated the 60’s after MLK,Jr.’s death, now have within the Black community - they’ve fielded a candidate for president and have come close to winning.
To believe that Obama can be known and understood through his speeches is akin to believing one can know an actor by watching him perform in a stage play. It’s a scripted part in both instances, and Hillary! is just another example of same. Aided by the MSM, both are attempting to maintain an appealing facade until the goal is achieved. Then the script will go into the trash and the ugly truth will emerge.
Most nauseating about this are the millions who will buy one act or the other for no reason other than they want to believe it - and the additional millions who actually agree with the ugly underside. Fundamental dishonesty is the cornerstone of the Democratic Party which, if it were ever to step out of script, would rename itself “The North American Socialist Movement” and be done with it.
Sadly many people don’t have computers , some don’t have cable television and have to rely on newspapers.
The Associated Press article , printed in my own home town rag , was edited so severely that only the bit about 911 remained.
Buchanan was hot on McGl last night. He had to shoe-horn in anything about Wright.
Black Liberation Theology? Let’s get this movement out into the light of day, shall we?
If the MSM won’t do their job, at least we always have HRC to baste BO with this scandal.
I finally caught a rerun of the Major Garrett interview with Barack Obama. I’d like to clarify one point in it about the Obama’s use of the term “sabbatical.”
In one breath he says his pastor is retiring, and then he says his pastor is taking a sabbatical. Let’s see, a sabbatical is a period of paid leave granted for study or travel, thus the two statements are conflicting double-talk. Either he has retired, or what seen to be the most accurate possibility, he is still being paid full salary from the church in an arrangement to return to the pulpit, or be financially supported while he studies, travels, or does volunteer work.
Go figure! As in explanations often provided by politicians who lie or say anything to enhance their position or agenda, we have a firsthand view of politician Obama in action. Either Wright has retired or he has not.
If you read the statement that Obama made, one thing that stands out is Obama’s refusal to condemn Wright’s vicious attacks on Israel and Wright’s snarling denunciations of “Zionism”. We all know that when people like Wright attack “Zionism”, they mean Jews. The best that Obama could do was to say he regretted Wright’s comments about the United States “and it allies”. What ally Barak? You won’t tell us. And it is not by accident that Obama and his experience public relations team that crafted the statement for him decided to use the word “allies” and not Israel. That is because, sadly, there is a strain of antiSemitism that runs deep within the urban African-American community in places like Chicago. It bubbles to the surface with people like Farrakhan, Wright and Jesse Jackson. And Obama is not willing to speak out on that issue unless he is far from Chicago. To the MSM, especially NBC News, this is a one day story to get over with quickly so Brian Williams and Tim Russert can go back to playing suck up to the Obamas.
Looks like Obama’s chickens are finally comin’ home to roost.
A little off topic, but am I the only one that heard GW refer to the 9/11 hijackers as “lured kids” during his Q&A on Wallstreet yesterday? This is simply outrageous! So does that mean that we now start referring to all terrorists as kids? I mean, heck, they’re younger than GW, but hardly were these evil men any where near being a kid. I get the sense that GW is either completely losing it, or something quite worse, either way, I’m starting to get a bad feeling in my gut about the near future.
God Bless America and the Men, Women, and KIDS that protect her.
So now, we are expected to believe that a steady atttendance record at KKK rallies over a 20 year period were a mistake since Obama actually thought he was attending Kiwana’s club meetings.
Well, it comes down to one of two possibilities. Obama is either lying about not knowing about Wright’s past or he is incredibly naïve and lacking in powers of observation and deduction. In either case, the man has no business being President of the United States.
At the risk of being accused by the likes of Bob Beckel of engaging in a “high tech lynching” (an accusation he made on the 3/13/08 Hannity and Colmes broadcast against those who would blaspheme against the messiah), I cannot fathom any scenario where Obama was unaware of Wright’s rants.
Obama is a product of the Chicago political machine. They do not come much more shrewd than those born in the fires of the kiln of corruption central. In one of his first races for elected office, Obama skillfully eliminated the competition by waiting until the last minute to protest their nominating petitions. All were found to be defective and hence all of Obama’s opponents were disqualified. He is skillful at deflecting criticism and puts his Harvard law degree to good use when combating criticism.
His close association with Wright over the last 20 years had to have yielded some clue regarding the man’s rhetoric and views. Wright’s trip to Libia with Farrakhan was a matter of public record. Obama chose to title one of his books based on one of Wright’s sermons. Obama even references Wright’s Hiroshima analogy in one of his books, and is on the record of canceling Wright’s speech at his campaign announcement based on Wright’s tendency to go a little wild in the pulpit, a strong indication of Obama’s awareness of Wright’s positions.
We are being asked to believe that Wright’s speeches recently publicized were rare occurrences; the exception to the rule. But based on the steady stream of new videos over the last few days, and the distinct possibility that there will be more to come, this position defies any rational examination.
Obama claims he was only aware of one instance when he began his campaign, and was unaware of any others until the last few days. This is also unbelievable. Any politician with an ounce of sense would take time to vet a close associate before bringing them into the fold. In addition, at the first whiff of a possible problem, a heart to heart discussion would take place to find out if there were any other surprises out there. This heart to heart would be backed up by a separate search by the campaign staff to see just what was out there that could come back to bite the candidate.
We are also being asked to not find Obama guilty by association. The problem here is that the label, “Association”, does not fit this scenario. A spiritual mentor is far more than a casual associate. He is the person who molds his flock’s religious beliefs which go a long way toward forming their views on social and racial issues. He is the individual’s spiritual guide and connection to those higher powers. In short, he is a vital cog in shaping a person’s spiritual background, in which every man’s character and concept of right and wrong is rooted. Obama obviously thought very highly of Wright and his preachings, given the $20,000+ contributions to the Church as reflected on their tax returns.
Michelle Obama believes American is a mean country with little to offer in terms of one’s pride in their nation. Michelle Obama’s attitude in this regard is a direct reflection of Wright’s poisonous teachings. The Princeton and Harvard graduate with the $300,000 a year job living in the $1.6 million home is “oppressed”. Just like Wright has said. And we are to believe that while Michelle Obama’s views clearly reflect the influence of the racist views of Wright, that the candidate himself is untouched and untainted by a steady diet of this racist rhetoric over 20 years?
America knows very little about the man who came out of nowhere. He has virtually no record to be judged by. But now, he would have us ignore an important part of his past 20 years, to forget about his associations. The problem is you ARE judged by the company you keep, particularly when there is little else available to form an opinion.
Obama has cleverly played off his lack of experience, asking voters to look beyond that and vote for him based on his powers of judgment. His association with Wright as well as his ties to Rezko fall far short of any standard of sound judgment. And now that he has been “caught”, he is now trying to claim ignorance, a claim that lacks any measure of credulity and is, beyond any reasonable doubt, an outright lie.
“Just words”. “G-Damn America”. Just words. “The US deserved 9/11″. Just words. “The US invented the AIDS virus”. Just words. “The US deals drugs to keep minorities down”. Just words. “White Christians were responsible for slavery”. Just words. Audacity, indeed.
Guilt by religious association.
The US of A is in a very sorry state of affairs with the people the MSM has given us to vote for…just what they wanted…they win ethier way..
it seemed like all the cable news programs had the huckster on every 5 minutes just a week ago and now silence….whats up, this is one topic i would actually like to hear hucksters comments on. this media drivin election is such a farce I have a countdown clock on opening day for baseball just so I can escape the BS being crammed down our throats.
Oblahma is dust, and the hillary mccain love fest of debates will really make us sick.
VP choices are going to be very very important…chose wisely grasshoppers…… we are watching you.
Obama is toast. I have no doubt the Clinton machine had this in the basket of dirt on Obama. Nothing they used before was working and they needed to use the Atom-bama. The MSM tried to ignore it. Talk radio and the Blogs picked it up and made people listen to this poison. The Clintons saw that they lost the black vote and don’t need to risk losing it now that it’s gone. When you put this together with the other questions about Obama concerning his judgment and associations it’s to much to brush off with his lame answers.
I think Obamas campaign has “jumped the shark” with this latest controversy. The Emperor has no clothes amd his agenda is now laid bare for the world to see. Of course we sorta knew he hated America by his refusal to honor the pledge to the flag, the lapel pin snafu, plus the wifes whiney diatribe.
Yes, it is true it still leaves us with not much in terms of a good candidate and we are still in a miserable situation as far as the countrys future…But I have to admit it is fun watching the imperial Obama squirm. Why, he is so nervous he even gave an interview to Fox News.He must really be nervous…and his explanations just don’t cut it!! Hoo Hoo
the media is too busy getting the democrat elected. that has been their job and anything else would get in the way of them performing that job.
thank-God for the new media.
having attended church and served in ministry most of my life, it is human nature to struggle with committment to attending a church regularly for more than a year. especially, a church whose pastor is a lifer. people are so easily offended that one wrong statement and they are gone. to commit for 20 years to a pastor means you are in trenched in that platform. the for life pastor is the churches platform he is the messenger. you have to be pretty committed to that messenger to stay beyond a year, let alone 20.
obama, knew his pastor’s platform (black liberation theology) and had to agree to attend for longer than a year. you mean in 20 years obama never heard one of those statements before? i’m not buyin’ it. nope, not buyin it at all. and to say that this is the typical black church is a lie. i have attended a black church for about 3-4 years before and never heard my pastor utter such things. While attending that church many other black pastors came and guest preached never did they speak such words; and i have seen them in other surroundings as well.
Now, why couldn’t obama attend a church similar to those? or be committed to a church that whose preacher was in the same vein as Bishop T.D. Jakes? well, to me the answer is obvious, T.D. Jakes is a MAN of GOD! obama is not interested in serving God, but serving himself.
Where is the “great and powerful Oprah” on all of this? Some of us have to be told what we should think about the whole “Reverend” Wright fiasco before we pass judgment on our Lord and savior.
Seriously though, does anyone here think this will mean a d@mned thing to BHO’s avowed voters? My experience (particularly with younger folks here in the Midwest), is that nothing can convince them that he isn’t man ordained by God to “save” this country. That in itself should scare the hell out of anyone with a modicum of common sense.
Seems simple:
1. He didn’t really go to church and Wright wasn’t his mentor for 20+ years, but it sounded good to stupid voters - a lie.
2. He went to church only on days that Wright talked about sweet things and the mentoring was concerning the soul - and I have a bridge to sell.
3. He went, liked it, agreed and stayed 20 years - his wife also for sure. Obama was advised by this hate spewing Wright and went back for more. He got caught and is not throwing Wright under the proverbial bus.
I think 3 fits the facts but don’t tell the HuffPos - they are wringing their collective panties claiming fould right wing attack, blaming Hillary and in general rationalizing this empty marxian, anti american suit.
I heard cuts of this so called reverend on the radio over and over yesterday. I had to turn it off it began to boil my blood. To suggest that all other churches do the same thing is just more of the same lies. I have never in my lifetime heard racial, anti any country or peoples comments let alone a sermon at any church I have attended from coast to coast. If I had I would have got up and left immediately exiting with a few choice words of my own on the way out. The more I think about all of it, the deception, the lies, the hatred and attempted cover up the angrier I get. These people are making me ashamed (for the first time in my life) not of America but of who we Americans have allowed to stay here. There are many people all over the world that dream of living in America and becoming Americans themselves I say lets make a deal. Come on down rev and get your ticket to ride, a one way trip to a destination that you wont hate. Lets do it soon though, there really is no telling whether or not anyone of another color has been assaulted following one of this lunatic racists sermons.
Use the Atom-bama…I love it!!
Yo Jim M #50, a really good contribution to the thread and your ‘just words’ parody is so spot on.
#50#55, a really good contribution to the thread and your ‘just words’ parody is so spot on.Correction
How did he first begin attending this church anyway? Was he shopping for one to attend and liked this message? Or did someone introduce him to it and he liked it enough to stay? Disturbing, either way.
The bottom line is this so called Reverend is full of carp, sick and dilusional, his followers are dumb as rocks.
Will someone please interview Rev Wright and ask him to discuss his statements.
Obama Bin Laden did say he did what he did to us on 9/11 because we were in Saudi Arabia. Rep Ron Paul even echoed the blowback theory. And, why did it take 20 years for us to know about this guy? We knew about Farrakhan. Weren’t Rev Wright’s views important enough to challenge? Or, wasn’t he important enough?
BTW, MM I apologize. I have been reading your BLOG for some time, but not have read it every day, so I might have missed a few things you might have said.
Another thing that I find even more disturbing is that should he be elected, BO would likely be seeking out this “spiritual mentor” continually for his brand of guidance. After all, it’s not uncommon for the CiC to do so.
#62, David Hughes said:
Miss Oprah can’t say anything about the “Rev” as she used to go to church at Trinity as well!
I am sure they are all hoping this will go away…
I think our incredulity is justified. However, there is an important side issue. It has to do with how powerful and seductive a false gospel can be. We are in the midst of a powerful spiritual battle and most of this country is hardly aware of it. For Christian’s we must reaffirm who we are in Christ and what Christ truly means to the world.
The Gospel is being rejected more powerfully and with more vile that ever before. Its caricatures and twisted replicas are legion. The media mocks and the Islamists hate and we sit in our pews with hardly a word. Many Christian’s hardly know what the Gospel is all about and can’t defend it against the world’s onslaught. There is a growing confusion that in the end can’t tell the difference between Christianity and any other “religion”. How sad for a country rich in its Judeo/Christian tradition.
At times I feel that Christian’s are the proverbial lobster swimming in a large pot of cool refreshing water. The fire is stoked and it may already be too late.
The world needs Christ more then ever.
You can rest assured that when Chris Montez was singing “the More I See You, the More I Want You”, it was not about politicians. We are finally getting a look “under the hood” of Obama. After almost two years, the clues and bits of information are finally starting to come together. The Trinity Church-Rev. Wright exposure has opened up a window which lends some insight into Obama’s actions. It’s all just little things that make no sense when viewed alone, like why the stand on the Iraq War, war in general, the lapel flag thing, the hand over the heart, the statements by Michelle Obama, the mild rebuke of the Farrackhan endorsement, does he Pledge or doesn’t he, and the “play dress-up in Africa” photo op? These are all innocent little events that by themselves can be explained away. But when you look at them as results of “Black Liberation Theology” learned at the feet of Rev. Wright, they show an explainable, predictable pattern of conduct. Hopefully, as more of his history is exposed, things will get much tougher for the candidate that sees himself as inevitable.
…..The people who are jumpin’, clappin’ and backslappin’ at “Uncle Jeremiah’s”…..are the same people who were jumpin’, clappin’ and backslappin’ after the OJ travesty acquittal for murder.
For any of you who believe these “hate- whitey” and “hate-America” protagonists are few and far between I have four words, “wake up naive fools”.
Maybe it’s time we “unseparate” church and state in America and put cameras and recording devices in all the churches and mosques. At the very least we could probably eliminate a good number of them from “tax free” status.
Soon we can all hope, during his campaign, he screamed like an eagle but he dropped like a rock.
Just words.
groundhunter-
Your words are more profound than most people will believe or accept. The good news is that Christ died for us, and that he blessed people with the gift of writing to document and show the world of this stuff.
Thanks MM, David Limbaugh and others too many to mention.
The sad thing is that this stuff has been brewing for over 20 years, and the people that had the guts to stand up and say something about the moral decline are finally being proven right. Its kind of interesting to note that the late Jerry Falwell may have been right all along.
“Hope and Change”
“Hope and Change”
ok , nevermind….
Wow. Just watched an interview of Ron Kessler on FoxNews where the black anchor (sorry, didn’t catch his name) on the Wright/Obama controversy challenged Kessler by saying if you need evidence of whites oppressing blacks just look at Tuskegee where (paraphrased) “blacks were injected with syphilis”. This is the same Black Urban Myth mentioned in the John Stossel video I pasted above. They weren’t injected with syphilis. They contracted it on their own, then in a study weren’t treated. A FoxNews anchor, promulgating these ridiculous lies? Please. Don’t we have enough problems already?
Paul-Cincy#81,
Was it Kelly Wright?
I think that’s the winning quote of the day. The dino media has for some time now abandoned the suit and tie for a cross-dresser’s nightmare - short skirt and pom-poms on the bottom, and a football shoulder pads on top - fitting their self-defined roles as both cheerleaders and blockers for the donkeys.
As for the “Messiah” with feet of clay, he reminds me of a scene from the original Star Trek series, the one in which Kirk gets amnesia with the transplanted Indian tribe who mistake him for a god until one of them cuts him with a knife and triumphantly realizes the truth:
“You BLEED, Ke-rok! Behold the ‘god’ who BLEEDS!”
For those looking for an insightful, and I pray accurate assessment of how the tarnishing of Obama’s halo bodes extreme ill for the donkeys, there’s a great post over at Instapunk - kinda long, but worth it.
It was a black guy who’s still on this segment. I’m embarrassed. I’m following the “all blacks look like” stereotype. But they didn’t show his name, and I’d never seen him before.
Simple question for Barrack:
Yes, googled Kelly Wright and it’s him. Thanks.
Based on an article in the New York Times dated April 30, 2007, Obama was fully aware at least a year ago of the vile rhetoric of his erstwhile spiritual advisor.
In fact, Wright himself told the reporter about a conversation he and Obama had on that very topic:
At least he remembered to both “denounce” and “reject” Wright’s comments.
Well, what a convenient little story we have shaping up here! A few soundbites from the Angry Black Church, a wife who hates America, and of course the secret Muslim who refuses to wear an American flag lapel pin. Eureka - you’ve finally found it!
Silly me, I always thought patriotism in America was supposed to be about freedom - speech, expression, religion, all the good stuff - and not just a blind allegiance to the all authoritative government-knows-best. I guess I got my high school civics class all wrong. Well, then again, I was educated in public school.
And of course, let’s never, ever question the patriotism of people who see nothing wrong with sending 4,000 young Americans to their death for a war built on cherry-picked intelligence and the naive assumption that people who have never known freedom would have the slightest clue what to do with it when it was forced upon them. No, that would just be silly.
And yet, despite all this, and despite the fact that your boy Patraus just acknowledged your war is a disastrous failure, “Glowbama” somehow continues to surge in popularity. Isn’t that just crazy?
Obama’s record:
Supports Jeremiah Wright’s church : http://www.breitbart.com/article.php?id=D8JHRKAO2&show_article=1
Supports illegal immigration: http://rwor.org/a/058/arellano-en.html
Guess what “change” this traitor will bring.
huggybear#89,
Nice try.
Feeble effort.
Hopefully, the MSM have learned something from the Spitzer fiasco, wherein they not only gave him a get-out-of-jail-free card in refusing to scrutinize his record as attorney general when he was running for governor, but actively banged the drum on his bandwagon.
Bus now, Americansshould know that Bush was in Wahhabbi pockets even before he was “elected”. Even his father was in wahhabbi pockets, so why not dubya? Since it worke din his father’s presidency. dubya made the most of it selling out USA to wahhabbis fr every petro-dollar the Bush family could pocket. Remember Bush:
- Stalled 9/11 commission.
- Blackened pages on Saudi from 9/11 commission interim report.
- Increased student’s visas for wahhabbis.
- Approved “aid” to oil-rich Saudi Arabia.
.. and you are surprised Bush called 9/11 hijackers “lured kids”. Which world are you living in?
Paul-Cincy, we’ve got a lot of history “experts” on the air, every day. The last time they sat down to a history book, was probably in college or high school, but they feel they are “experts”, based on their assumptions of fact derived from other opinions and assumptions of fact, that is totally biased. I wonder if these “black historians” can answer one simple question… Who was a big advocate for emancipation in Virginia,and kept introducing bills to free slaves, enough so, that his fellows thought he was a “dangerous radical”? I bet Wright, Sharpton, Jackson or Obama couldn’t answer. Thomas Jefferson.
Who’s feeble?
Three things about this whole story.
Obama doesn’t tithe like he is supposed to (I’m glad, it would have meant $70K-some more to that church).
The second; I’ve attended a black church - our neighbor across the street was its pastor. Nice man - there was some Bush-bashing in his message, but not much. I don’t know whether he toned it down because my family and I were there or not. I hope not.
Third, a Christian church’s job is to point people to Christ. Period. It isn’t to talk politics out of the pulpit.
I fear there are many more churches like this one out there.
Got to go get some more Jiffy-Pop
