Get your husband to buy you some Matzoh ball soup and just a bit of horse radish. Jewish penicillin is great for the flu.

I had this bug for three weeks as well, and the damn cough still lingers.

Get well Michelle!

Thank you all for your prayers for my sister. When our youngest son had testicular cancer (guys please
check yourselves just as we women check our breasts-
not supposed to hurt when you bathe or shower) we
know that had it not been for all of the prayers going
straight to heaven on his behalf he would not have
made it. He had so many different types of cancers
through out his body but when the dr did that hideous
surgery where you are cut from stem to stern, EVERY
one of the cancers were dead!
Just know my sister will have the same good fortune!
Thank you

You mean three months....

Read the ingredients in Nyquil, Dayquil, whatever. I can only imagine what they put in that stuff.

What worked for me: cammomile tea, mega doses of garlic and cayenne capsules, and a good spittoon.

Sorry about the flu. I caught it also. I just came out of a 30 hour Nyquil induced coma. Am now taking Dayquil to see how I really feel. The worst is this cough from hell, from what I'm told, will last three weeks.

Praying for a quick recovery Michelle.

GOD Bless!

P.S. No need to apologize to us for light blogging. I think it safe to say most of us would be okay if you:

Tank up on your Vitamin C!

My take on press reporting bombs heard during Chaney's visit. Gee whiz, those blasts aren't meant to intimidate him -- they're meant to intimidate the U.S. voter, get it NYT??

Hi Michelle,

Hope you get to feeling better soon ... despite all of the advances in medicine it is still hard to beat chicken soup, lots of liquids and rest ...

I find a good trip to a hot tub or a steam bath often helps relax you, cleans your system out and helps with sleeping ... of course ... a glass or two of a good wine along with that will make it even more effective ...

On the political front ... I am still not happy that in his "interview" with John McCain on Thursday night Sean Hannity refused to address the issue of "Juan Hernandez" and went softball on immigration questioning despite his stronger comments on radio and TV ...

I would love to see you get a chance to interview him ... I suspect we would get more of our concerns addressed ...

Mexico travel advice- do NOT trust the ice cubes! The water might come from a sealed bottle in front of you, but the ice cubes came straight out of the tap. Also, as per hubby who has traveled to every continent but Antarctica- get some local yogurt as soon as you get off the boat/plane, it often contains what your gut needs to fight the local bugs.
I wanted to go to the GoE this weekend so much, but am on the 4th day of some really nasty food poisoning (what is it with everyone getting sick around here?) Glad they had nice weather!

Re: 52 (Bear Stearns)
Often political blogs ignore the financial stuff that right now looks like the greatest risk to the country. Apparently the Federal Government think that some big investment banks are "too large to fail", and they might be right... but right now no one has a ballpark on the value of some of the securities bought and sold by these firms (okay thats vague but I'm not an expert, I just read a lot of financial blogs).

I know a lot of people on the right get ticked off if we say stuff like, "our economy is not doing as well as we think"... but its true. Inflation numbers are cooked, and our economy the past 6 years has been fueled by home values and people withdrawing equity from their home. So even if something like 20% of homes in any given area were sold, the other 80% of the owners benefited in comparable valuation of their homes and were able to use comps to get home equity lines of credits (and other benefits) which allowed them to spend money. Now that home prices are going down (why did we let realtors/mortgage people tell us they only go up?) that trend is happening in reverse... it's like having a $50k line of credit, maxing it out, and now all of a sudden you've only got a $20k line of credit.

People think this will just be contained to housing... I'm not so sure about it. Also, the Iraq War is costing a lot of money to execute as well. I was for the war in 2003, but since 2006 I've had a big problem with the cost... it makes me conflicted, but it will be another driver to stop the Iraq War.

To answer the question #52... I guess we have to imagine and assume the impact of not bailing them out is worse? I hope inflation doesn't get too out of hand... even more than it is the past 12 months. It also seems like economists are unsure if we'll have inflation or deflation, since asset prices are going to deflate big-time... how much did Bear Sterns deflate? Poof goes that money...
