Barack Obama will give a major speech on “the larger issue of race in this campaign,” he told reporters in Monaca, PA just now.
He was pressed there, as he has been at recent appearances, on statements by his former pastor, Jeremiah Wright.
“I am going to be talking about not just Reverend Wright, but the larger issue of race in this campaign,” he said.
He added that he would “talk about how some of these issues are perceived from within the black church issue for example,” he said.
He also briefly defended Wright from the image that has come through in a handful of repeatedly televised clips from recent Wright sermons.
“The caricature that’s being painted of him is not accurate,” he said.

Obama, with the aid of his media enablers, is going to avoid the fact that his “pastor” is a raving antiSemite. Just listen to Wright spit out the word “Zionism”. Wright spits out the word with the same hatred as does David Duke. Then listen to Wright’s statements about Israel committing crimes against the Palestinians “with US assistance”. This sounds so much like what David Duke has said and written that you have to wonder if Wright was plaigirizing Duke. Bigots like Wright usually do not look at the audience and then decide whether to limit their remarks to scripture. Obama would have us believe that Wright only talked about scripture when he (Obama) was in the audience. Mr. Obama must really thing Americans are stupid. Somehow Wright had two personalities: One when the Obamas were in church and one when the Obamas were not in church. The real issue is that Obama is willing to condemn antiSemitism only in the abstract, that is when he does not have to name an antiSemite like Farrakhan and now Wright. Obama wants the credit for “discussing antiSemitism” without actually having to do it a meaningful way. How stupid do the Obamas think people are?

If Obama missed all of his uncle’s/mentor’s/ minister’s/trusted-advisor’s hate speech during the past twenty years, what can we anticipate he will miss as our President? He has already established a record of absence when voting on bills as a politican, has he not?

There is a story out there that a NewsMax reporter was present on July 22 last year and saw Obama bobbing his head in agreement with the good pastor at several of what the reporter called, well, less than Christian remarks. I read it when a blogger pointed out the link. I don’t know how dependable the writer is, but if this is true Mr. BO is a liar, and the MSM wont be able to bury it.

Looks like Obama is going back to his original strategy - carefully, completely and vigorously control his message. If there’s a chance that someone might say something to counter his audacious hope for the country, staaaaaaay awaaaaaaaay.
His absence in any media forum where he might get a bona fide tough question speaks volumes. Walking out on a press conference after eight - eight! - questions, when the questions got a little too pointed, speaks volumes. His deflated, defensive appearance with Major Garrrett on Fox News Friday night after the Wright story started gaining traction, speaks volumes. Now he’s going to try to “elevate” the issue to race with a major speech.
Check it out Barack - it’s about your willing association - long term, I might add - with someone who unashamedly and repeatedly spews forth some of the most divisive and repugnant venom the American people have ever heard. From the pulpit, no less! You can’t credibly claim to have been unaware of the preacher’s philosophy or his remarks, not after TWENTY YEARS of association.
Maybe we do have a race problem in this country, if the fact that a pastor like this can attract such a large congregation is any indicator. But the problem is that people like this pastor fan the flames with talk like this, and people like Barack Obama stick their heads in the sand while the fire rages.

Obama now claims to be the proverbial piano player in the brothel who doesn’t know what’s going on upstairs. I see a looming credibility gap.
If, God help us, he’s elected to the Oval Office, this presidency will be all about race. Everything about it will be about race.
Obama has had more than a few bites at this apple.
Obama tried to ignore it. That didn’t work.
Obama tried to “denounce” Wright’s statements. That didn’t work.
Obama tried to paint the issue as “race rearing its ugly head”. That didn’t work.
Obama invoked the words of RFK to get people to move beyond race issues. That didn’t work.
So now Obama is going to give a “major speech” to see if that works. He will rely on his oratorical skills to excuse Wright’s racism as a product of another era, reinforce the fact that despite
his 20 year relationship with Wright he does not agree with his “mentor” and have the bulk of the speech devoted to an “I have a Dream” vision of the future of America.
And that won’t work. No more than a 20 year member of the KKK being able to convince people that he is above racial issues and can unite the country.

This has really skewed my view of Obama’s character. At first I thought he was a friendly guy, not bad…but after hearing about his church, I am not sure if he is good inside at all.
When I go to church, or a spiritual center or whatever, they focus on spiritual stuff…like forgiveness, and compassion, and loving others. They focus on noble things like God, peace, joy, etc etc. I come out feeling more whole, peaceful, happy and tensions fade.
I doubt very much this is the effect of this church. I wouldn’t be surprised if people walk out feeling more angry, bitter, divided, and racist. IT’s just absolutely sickening and not spiritual or godly at all. It bothers me that others actually think that this IS spiritual…it’s the opposite of spiritual.
I keep having flashbacks to the late 80’s as the phrase “BO knows Racism” keeps wanting to leap out of my mouth…
Ive asked this question a hundred times, why do some preachers like Wright, Jackson, Sharpton preachingso much on worldly things and not preaching the Gospel of Christ? Christ says we need to be born again to obtain heaven after death. He also said He was the only way to Heaven. So, why go into preaching if you don’t preach the true gospel. I know the Lord predicted many false prophets that would preach what peoples ears itch for and a lot of people would prefer that instead of the true gospel. Another thing LGM what is it that Hagee said that is non-biblical? Remember Jesus said He is the only way and He would today be condemned for that.

On another matter about the “black values” and being true to Africa. A few years ago I happened to find myself on a small bus in the middle of the jungle of Uganda. A Ugandan lady got on with her son who was about 3 years old. When he saw me (a large bald white man) he screamed and cried and his eyes showed stark terror as he clutched his mother’s skirt. My friend told me later that Africans tell their children that white people eat them. Sounds remarkably like the heart-felt teachings of Dr. J Wright on Chicago’s south side in 2008. God bless America. Some in this free bastion melting pot have come a long way. Some obviously don’t want to.
