The NRCC wants to hear from you
The NRCC just e-mailed me a link to their new congressional survey. “The National Republican Congressional Committee wants to hear from you. Your opinions matter and your ideas will help us regain the majority in 2008.” Twelve questions. Yes, they get to immigration enforcement and border security by question 10.
What would you have added to the survey? Feel free to leave your suggestions.

Are you in favor of Congress obeying the 10th amendment?
Does the Second Amendment mean what it says?
That out of the way, it’s just another push poll, and a pretty inartful one at that.
What a slanted questionnaire. I was expecting something a little less self serving that would actually get some valuable feedback from the constituancy.
This was just asking me to sign off on their campaign rhetoric.
How about:
Should the house and Senate Republicans quit acting like Democrats?
Should house Republicans stop pandering to special interest groups and lobbyists and actully do their jobs?
Should house Republicans actually do something that would force the Republican administration to get off it’s ass and secure the border?
Should house Republicans call a press conference to withdraw all of the pork barrel earmarks they’ve stuck into legislation since losing control of both houses?
The questions pretty much lead the answers.
Do you believe in the soveirgnty of the United States of America and the integrity of her borders?
Question # 11 Why have you chosen to ignore your base?
I have sent gobs of surveys from nrcc asking for my opionion and it did not do one bit of good. When the republican’s start acting like republicans rather than rino’s, I might think about sending them money. They make me tired.
L
“Republicans”, as we know them today, are no better than Democrats.
1. Do you believe that earmarks should be outlawed?
2. Do you want us to start acting like Conservatives, and actualy trim back government spending, instead of growing government?
3. With Oil prices at over $100 a barrel, should Iraq beging to pay for its OWN reconstruction?
4. With oil over $100 a barrel, and having the LARGEST oil reserves in the world, should we start drilling in ANWAR, and using Sand and Shale technology?
5. Should Sanctuary citys loose all Federal Funding?
I could go on and on, but I’m a conservative, not a republican, and this was nothing more than a ploy to get email addresses for a mass mail list.
I should have phrased the question as if coming from the NRCC.
Question # 11 By ignoring you and calling you bigots and small minded people, have we alienated you?
Question #12 Can we regain the majority in congress by sucking up to the left?
I’m sorry but this survey is complete spin and a shill for donations. None of these people intend to follow through on the Republican agenda. They know our hot buttons and they’ll push those buttons when they want money, but once they get re-elected they’ll stab their very own published agenda in the back.
This survey does not even provide a place to give these RNCC mutts a piece of our minds.
Sad.
I give no $$ to the RNCC until I see some sign of real change.
They stopped hearing from me when they stopped fielding candidates that were actually (in principle and practice) conservative.
Yep to Romeo13. If they want to know what we’re thinking they can look at this blog. And if they think asking us loaded questions with obvious answers to point them in the right direction will fix things then that is what is wrong with the party. Sheesh.
Question #13 When cow-towing to the liberals, should we refer to it as global warming or climate change?
Question #14: Would you like the contact information for the NRCC so you can explain in more detail where they hath departed from the faith?
(Answer: here)
P.S. Tell them you read about this on Michelle’s blog. They need to know that.
I find it incredible that they need to ask. Even a moderate or a RINO would answer them all the same as a conservative. I have sent money and the last time they called I said BUILD THE FENCE! and I will send more. They haven’t called me since.
It’s funny and sad. These politicos invoke the word “constitution” only when they’re sworn in. Beyond this formality, each and every one is hell-bent on doing everything in their power to expand their role (beyond reasonable) and their reach.
Slanted, push poll. I did not bother filling it out.
Too stupid or too arrogant to recognize what they’ve done to their base.
What we need to do is send a survey to all Republican congressmen and senators asking them about the issues important to us. Then we’ll know whom to support in the fall. Then again, we’d probably get fewer responses than they are getting from us.
My questions to the NRCC would be:
How many times must we answer the same questions, over and over, before you actually do something about it?
Do you not realize that when democrats say they want a solution to be ‘bipartisan’, in actuality, it really means ‘their’ way?
When will you finally listen to US, the grass roots conservatives?
My own question:
Why didn’t you have a place where we could type in a comment?
Whether or not you fill it out, I think it’s worth contacting them and letting them know what you think.
Question #17
should we waterboard “lured kids”?
I like how they come over, after you submit the survey, and ask for a donation.
Too bad I couldn’t put $0 on a recurring monthly basis. It would have probably went right over their heads anyhow.
Whoever came up with that survey needs there hat handed to them and pointed to the door.
The Question is, will they show the result of #10 to Juan Hernendez?
They would ignore it anyway? Why waste the time knowing that they would be blasted over the illegal invaders.
My question: Should the Republican Party continue accepting donations from La Raze?
Yes.
Should McCain drop his Latino Out Reach Director Juan Hernandez?
Yes.
Should we enforce the laws on the books and go after our corporate buddies who hire illegals?
Yes.
Oops, LOL that should be a NO on accepting funds from La Raza. I failed my own test. LOl
When we invoke the phrase “hard working”, does this:
A. Offend you?
B. Surprise you?
C. Bore you?
D. All of the above?
They don’t want to hear from me.. They want my money and then stab me in the back..
No thanks.
Close the border.
Untax me.
Nuke the enemy.
Then maybe you will get some of my precious.
Does John McCain feel lucky that the democrats have put up two candidates that are even scarier than he is? Or was that the result of some “reaching across the isle” agreement with Ted Kennedy?
Dear NRCC:
Please see a proctologist immediately. We have a lead on the location of your missing head.
“9. Do you support maintaining anti-terrorism laws that give law enforcement and intelligence agencies the far-reaching powers to track, detain and prosecute terrorists and their accomplices?”
r/far-reaching/necessary
6. Do you support Congressional Republicans’ efforts to decrease domestic government spending in order to reduce the national deficit?
I answered “Undecided” because I haven’t seen much evidence that they’ve actually tried!
Why do they waste their time with a phony survey when all they really wanted was my email address and zip code so that they can bug the heck out of me with solicitations for money?
Next they’ll ask that I take my name off the do-not-call list so that every other bloodsucker can hit me up also.
Question #19
Since we will ignore your wishes and plan to grant them amnesty anyway, shouldn’t we start referring to them as “undocumented immigrants”? That way they might vote for us.
Question #20 - Does our patronizing push poll that treats you like a total idiot make you want to donate more money to us?
Pathetic.
I don’t know if I want to say the GOP is alive and well, but the “stupid” part of the stupid party sure is.
An incredible waste of time. Who are these people and why won’t they listen to us?
Question: Do you think politicians today, should finally allow the Constitution, to be the “Supreme Law of the Land”?
Question: Do you agree or disagree with term limits?
Question: Do you believe the 10th amendment should be abolished, since the government pays no attention to it anyway, and has no plans to obey it, in the future?
Everyone is right on this poll. It was another one of those push/pull polls like I get from the democrats. They are useless for information on what their voter base really wants. A comments section would have been valuable, if they were serious about this poll; which they weren’t. It’s a shame that they do this. It would be a great tool to understanding the people who vote, and let them know what sort of platform is needed at the convention. But, this is nothing new. They all feel that we are the “little people” who need to be coached on what is good for us. I know what is good for me!! More money for my family in my check, and less for the guy sitting on the doorstep, smoking crack, drinking beer, and waiting for his welfare/unemployment check.
Do you feel the RNC has abandoned the Conservative movement? This question was noticeably missing.
Question #20
Should we as republicans, pass the Fairness Doctrine in order to silence Rush.
Somebody please tell me to stop.
Question #13
If I press 1 for Spanish, will you Press 2 for being a RINO?
Make that last question #21
Gee, traveler, you forgot Hannity!
Question #14
How many Republicans does it take to change a lightbulb in the House? in the Senate?
The one question missing they did not have there.
“Do you support cutting off all earmarks?” YES
Question #15
If a Republican is traveling at 60mph towards Tecate Mexico, and a Democrat is traveling at 75mph towards Cabo San Lucas, how fast are the illegal aliens going towards Los Angeles?
That was lame. It wasn’t even a good push poll.
Third Time is a charm?. You see, our borders are so open, they invaders are able to sneak back in multiple times. Hope this bastard gets the 10 years prison time before being deported AGAIN.
Question #22 Do you think it’s a good idea to keep sending money to countries that hate us?
Question #23 Do you think sending more guns to the paleostinians will lead to peace with Israel?
Thanks for making my day Jim. TOO Funny.
If we just make them citizens as soon as they apply for welfare we could eliminate this problem of multiple crossings. Just think how much money we’d take away from the coyotes too. /sarc
Question #16
If a bunch of green cards cost $.69/lb and 1000 bushels of matricular consular cards cost a penny, how much does a fence along the border cost?
I agree and here is what I wrote.
To whom it may concern:
I just took your survey. Interestingly, after the survey I was brought to the “Donations” page. No thanks. I have been let down by a Republican party that seems to think becoming more liberal and reaching across the aisle is something the Republican base will stand for. I am not sure I can donate to the cause of “election politics” i.e. finding someone who can win versus someone the conservative base can get behind. I guess you did not get the message when you lost the majority(s) and possibly the Presidency?
Good luck with your attempt to “Take Back the Majority” even though it is apparent via the U.S. News (link) that Senate Republicans are giving up on regaining the majority.
Some free advice (may not be worth much as it is free), start taking back seats by remember who puts butts in said seats; your conservative base.
Sincerely,
I got this thing a while back, and sent them a handfull of McCain pesos.
Michelle,
You must send them these posts so they can see how far off they are with those ridiculous questions. Ask them to just try one thing in congress now! Like making English the official language of the country. I believe 85% of the country wants this.
I think they are using this questionaire to get my e-mail address so they can harass me, not help me.
As a conservative and reformed Republican I can only say:
What a lame questionaire…As soon as you finish the survey, you go right to a contribution page. AS IF!
I would like to see the answers from the RNCC itself to the same questions. Then, send it to all Republicans in Congress and share their answers with us.
I sent it back with the following:
STOP the endless taxing
STOP giving money to countries that hate us - so they call us names–big deal!
STOP acting like you give a damn
STOP rewarding yourselves for doing nothing.
STOP asking me for money
Needless to say, I’ve not received a response…how come?
I just throw these fundraising letters from the RNC away. When I get one from the ACLU, though, I send back the empty envelope so they have to pay the postage.
Tape it to a brink next time you send the ACLU stuff back.
Brink = Brick. Sorry
Here, ACLU. ten dollars in pennies for you. Please send a receipt so I can claim this on my taxes.
I believe that Chuck (#56)has exactly the right response. Made me laugh big time!
Wrote e-mail to RNC to tell them how ridiculous their poll is. Used an e-mail address I never look at so I won’t be hounded. Is there anyone there who is listening?
Question 13:
Does the GOP need another Contract with America?
NRCC IN A NUT SHELL. GOT TWIGS?
Heh, those were loaded questions.
What a waste of my time! The questions certainly were just a bit leading, and any American with a brain (translation: conservative) would answer uniformly.
I wish the NRCC had the balls to ask some really difficult questions, such as:
If you could replace any Republican member of Congress, whom would it be and why?
If you had the opportunity to speak before a group comprised entirely of Congressional Republicans, what would the title of your remarks be?
Tell us the four most important issues facing Congress right now, in your opinion. Rank them from most to least important.
With which Congressional Republican do you most closely identify from a political standpoint? Why?
I think they’d find out that a lot of people know individual Congressional Republicans for the WRONG reasons rather than for the RIGHT ones. That’s not to say there aren’t any good ones, but there sure aren’t many, if any, superstars in there (don’t forget that the best presidential candidate we could come up with is the septuagenarian senator from Arizona, John McCain).
Got one of these in snail mail, sent it back with 1 of Jorge’s peso and told them not to solicit anymore money from me till they get back to traditional Republican values.
Election year BS like always….
“Oh yea.. we Really Really Really mean it this time..we are listening…”
Ask the Closet Limp Wrist, Lindsey Graham about “Listening” to the people. When “We The People” voiced our opinions before..we were nothing more than Loud Bigots.
That about covers it. And as Romeo said, I identify as a conservative, “no party affiliation”, not a republican.
Sorry Michelle, I did not follow the link to the survey. Trying to communicate with McCain’s party is futile.
The Repubs have learned their lesson, they don’t ask for your opinion anymore.
Why I’m writing in Newt and not voting for liberal McCain And that’s from the NY Times!!!!
NRCC
national republican clueless committee
I tried 2 weeks ago to communicate with McCain’s campaign. A local campaign operative called me back and defended sanctuary cities as “democracy in action - they are just doing what they think best for them.”
When I said that sanctuary policy was against federal law, he told me, “America was founded by breaking the law.”
He sold me. I think I will start thumbing my nose at the IRS.
Well, isn’t this just peachy.
You have to pay to submit the damn survey.
I went to the homepage and sent a scathing email. Let them know how we feel on this site.
If you don’t hear from me after a week or so, find out WHO assassinated me, ok?
rofl these are the most leading questions ever, they sound like they were written by Karl Rove while PMS-ing. How is this even a survey at all? It seems like its just a (pardon my french) circle jerk of neocon ideas. My personal favorite is this one-
“Do you support Congressional Republicans’ efforts to decrease domestic government spending in order to reduce the national deficit?”… I do support decreasing spending… but no Republicans have done squat about it!
Now that the SCOTUS judges have AGREED to let us have our guns, will you RINOS let us keep them?
I heard Sen. DeMint’s bill to defund Berkeley pork didn’t pass thanks to some quisling Republicans (you can probably guess which ones).
It’s crap like this, the border, and overspending that makes me feel like telling the RNCC to sit and spin.
Are you serious? Did they really answer like that? I know McInsane is strong on Amnesty but if they are responding to the people like that, they are in trouble more than I thought could be possible.
Hey Michelle, send them this link (Senate shoots down bill to cut Berkeley funding) and ask the GOP Why we should support Senators who think organic food for students is more important than supporting our Marines and their recruiting efforts in Berkeley. 9 Senators with Rs by their names did in a vote not so long ago on Jim DeMint’s Semper Fi Act.
Senate vote
(DeMint Amdt. No. 4380 )
Too bad after the survey they link you directly to a donation page. Ha! That’ll come when they actually do change direction. John McCain and Juan Hernandez is not a good start.
More ridiculous fluff from the Beltway GOP elite. I won’t dignify their crap with a response. They’re not listening, folks.
Jeez. Can you say leading questions? What a load of stinky bollocks. Just how stupid do they think we are? I particularly enjoyed:
6. Do you support Congressional Republicans’ efforts to decrease domestic government spending in order to reduce the national deficit? That one had me laughing.
What would only be funnier if there was some leftie hacker right now writing a spam-bot to deluge that questionnaire with millions of random responses through the night.
These surveys are never anything more than requests for money. They open the envelope; there is a check there or there isn’t. If there is, they keep the check, note the name so they can send you another “survey,” and throw the rest away. If there is not check, they note the name and send you another “survey” and throw the rest away.
You could send them pesos or those phony bills with Generalissimo George on them. That might send a message, but on the whole the Republican establishment is so stupid, they might interpret it as one more open-borders person. Then you really would get bombed for contributions.
Note: it took years, but they finally stopped sending these things to me. There is no way I would risk getting put on the list again.
Q: Do you think that John McCain’s statement that Al Qaida was being trained in Iran (i.e., a Sunni group trained by its Shi’ite enemies) to fight in Iraq shows this man has the requistite foreign relations and defense experience to be commander in Chief or does it show he either is just another useless senator or that old age is catching up?
Q. Should we give $ to a party that spits in our faces and calls us bigots and loud folks?
I filled this thing out a while back, and had to insert my comments (handwritten). When they asked for $ and email address, I simply wrote: “Where is the fence”. I have not given a penny to the RNC for over a year now, and I don’t plan to start any time soon.
As to McCain, he can start flying on his wife’s private jet if he is strapped for cash. He trashed Mitt for making money the hard way, but he married for money. That is why he is clueless about the economy, he is a kept man. He does not need to know about it. Even with the threat of BO and his racism, I cannot bring myself to support this party or vote for McCain, especially since he is still obviously pro-amnesty (recent comments that enforcement republicans loose seats, etc.) and he has made ZERO efforts to make conservatives feel comfortable about voting for him.
ho ho ho, making the email address mandatory. Sorry NRCC, you can address your email requests to donations to nodonations@youcantbeserious.com.
Because really now, you think I’d fall for that?
No survey is necessary. They know what we want.
I’m feelin’ a lot of love in this room. Lot of love.
To All; Like you I am not going to give the NRCC a dime! Does anyone out there have an outlet for supporting truly conservative candidates? How about Club for growth? I am lost in the wilderness.
Every time I get a *survey* in the mail from the NRCC or something like it, I write across it, “When the Republicans start showing some leadership, I’ll start giving again.”

Then I mail it back in the pre-paid envelope.
Unfortunately, they keep on sending them.
Nagel, Luger, Specter, Murkowski, all voted no on the DeMint ‘no funding for Berkeley’ bill. Surprise, Surprise, Surprise….uh..not.
I wonder if they’re the Republican congress we’re suppose to be supporting?
I just joined the party and I’m already disillusioned and disgusted.
Mr. Vibeman: Please don’t be discouraged and disgusted with the Republican Party. There are some very good Repub politicians who really stand for the conservative values we hold. That is why I think term limits is a good idea–get rid of RINOs quickly and bring non-careerists who speak our language in, but not forever. We Republicans are IMHO the only thing standing in the way of socialism and communism in this country. Hold on!!
I’ve never been on the NRCC’S radar nor have I ever given them money. If there was one question I could ask it would be: do you think it’s a good idea to be so cozy with Democrats of the liberal persuasion? Why or why not? If so, does the likelihood of being a RINO play into the deterioration of your base? Please explain.
I’m sure they’d never give me an explanation so that’s why I ask here.
Garbage like this is why congress’ aproval ratings are lower than ____.
Everything they do is tied to more money and re-election. A select few(pork anyone) at least try to do what is right and they are ignored.
I didn’t fill it out because as an earlier poster stated - it’s self-serving and not an honest questionnaire. Of course I want all the right things to happen, but a vacuous survey doesn’t do crap to make that happen. Perhaps rather than waste time on empty questions they could actually DO some of the things they just asked about.
I would add:
“Do you believe that either party is serious about doing what really needs to be done to strengthen this country?”
I could hardly type this with a straight face!
How about “Do you agree we should stop treating taxpayers like the idiots we think you are?”
Should we stop asking for money until we actually do something about immigration?
Should we stop asking for money until we actually do something about energy (oil & gas) costs?
How about “Do you think that government is the problem or the solution?”
