Obama trashing his grandmother again? Update: Audio link added
Update: Audio here.
Reader Edward e-mails:
This morning (Thursday 3/20/08) on WIP AM 610 Sports Radio in Philadelphia, host Angelo Cataldi interviewed Senator Obama. During the beginning of the segment (about 07:40 AM) Mr. Cataldi asked the Senator about his comments on Tuesday regarding his “white” grandmother. I am paraphrasing here, but his response was something like “She is a typical white person who fears people on the street.”
Please try to obtain a tape of the segment and listen to it yourself, but if I heard this correctly, it was another look at who this guy really is.
Hope the radio station posts the audio. Here’s 610’s site.
If this is how Obama responds when he’s “shaken up,” God help us if he’s in the White House during the next terrorist attack or international crisis.

Someone needs to point to the Obama that you’re just as dead no matter whether or not you can/did say the n-word out loud. Just ask the UNC class president. Oh, you can’t. She was killed by a
Why is it that Obama condemns people like Don Imus, yet sits there and accepts vitriol from a radical pastor named “Wright”? He was one of the first to call for Imus’s resignation, in between Sunday sermons of racial hate and divide. A big double standard and hypocrisy.
Barry O the snow blower has no idea how hard it must have been back in the 1970’s for an older white woman to raise her daughter’s black son.
Fast forward 30 years: Reverend Wright screws the pooch for Barry and he throws his (white devil) GRANNY under the bus. Wow. What a cold hearted b*stard.
Hey, Barry: Nanna says thanks for the road rash.
Oh Obama, I know just how you feel about your typical white grandmother. I have a few black friends and some Jewish ones too! Obama, your name is Hypocrit.
graysonret-
Don’t you understand that liberal black people cannot be racist because they can hear the words and yet not internalize them. /sarc on
Either its racism or its not. The sad thing is that the black victimcrats don’t want true equality because their bennies will have to end. The worse part of it is that this deminishes the accomplishments blacks that are striving, succeeding, and acheiving with the same brush.
If people think that this is harsh-Check out the comments that are made consistently about Madame Condolessa Rice, Justice Clarence Thomas, and Rep J.C. Watts among others.

lgm,
Thanks for at least responding with an issue - however cliched your arguments might be.
Let’s look at some facts surrounding the run-up to the war in Iraq:
FACT: Iraq was in violation of multiple UN resolutions, as well as the terms of surrender surrounding the 1991 Gulf War. They had been in violation of those terms for most of the Clinton administration. Clinton chose to do NOTHING about those violations - which included attacks on monitoring fly-over missions by US forces. These violations alone were just cause to resume hostilities against Iraq and the Saddam Hussein regime.
FACT: These violations were cited by the Bush administration as the primary reasons for the invasion of Iraq, along with several others, all of which were substiantiated by intelligence by not only the US, but Great Britain, France and the Soviet Union.
FACT: The liberal mantra that “the only reason Bush chose to go to Iraq was the ‘non-existant’ WMD’s is simply not true. In multiple speeches given in the run-up to invasion, the President stated repeatedly as many as fifteen (15) different reasons for the need for military action. The possible presence of WMD’s (based on intelligence from ALL of the above stated countries) was usually reason number 12 or 13 given. Also low on that list was the fact (yes FACT) that elements of A.Q. were in Iraq, either in hiding or in training. Why don’t more people remember this? Go back and check for yourself. Most of the President’s speeches simply were not covered in their entirety by any outlets other than C-SPAN or Fox News. Just about everybody else carried snippets of the speeches, in which they cherry picked what was said and packaged it so as to make it appear that the only reasons we were getting ready to go to war was to “get the WMD’s and root out A.Q. in Iraq.”
When you get hit over the head with it presented that way 90 times a day over the airwaves and by the print media, you start believing it. Too bad too few people actually remember what was said - and too bad that the Bush administration wasn’t more vocal defending itself. They have nobody to blame but themselves for that.
We could debate the run-up to the war all day long, but why? That’s in the past. The question before us is what do we do now? That’s what I’m interested in. Hillary and BHO want out - in a hurry. My feeling is that the consequences for that would be disasterous, therefore, I can not in good conscience vote for either of them based on that issue.
And don’t come back with the argument you laid out in your last post. That has been refuted, pretty well I might add, by at least a couple of other posters here. BHO was a state senator from Illinois. He had no “dog in the fight”, nor did he have access to any of the intel. Those that did (including HRC, John Kerry, and most prominent Democrats) agreed with the Bush administration and voted to authorize hostilities against Iraq. BHO was doing NOTHING MORE than saying what his constituents wanted to hear, and that is nothing more than political opportunism.
Let’s turn to domestic policy. As I stated yesterday, I will fight as hard as I can AGAINST anybody who proposes any type of single payer, socialized medicine scheme. Period.
Both candidates on the Democrat side would also call for and try to implement larger versions of Lyndon Johnson’s (a Democrat) Great Society welfare state. After 40+ years of it, you can see the results: more people on welfare, that same welfare state contributing to the undermining of the black family unit in this country, failed “housing projects” - the list goes on and on. How much is too much? I say 40+ years is enough to establish that the Democrat experiment with a welfare state is too much. The road to socialism needs to be abandoned - not expanded.
You can call it what you want, but it’s still socialism. And that goes against everything that America was founded to be.
And that’s the reason why I CAN NOT vote for either HRC or BHO.
governmentdrone,
Americans are ignorant of facts because facts get in the way of the MSM’s agenda.
We will never get our citizenry informed as long as the media is allowed to be so biased and hateful of capitalism.
One correction to my post #207. Should say “Russia” instead of “Soviet Union”. I plead being old enough that it was the Soviet Union for most of my adult life - old habits and all that.
rooster: Too true. Nor will the Republican party get a decent candidate as long as we let the MSM get away with picking it for us. That’s what makes me laugh so hard at all of the angst in the MSM and with the Democrats over Limbaugh’s “Operation Chaos”. Their claims of foul play because Republicans “dared” to cross over and vote in Democrat primaries, when they did the same damn thing to us in the early primaries and chose McCain for us as our nominee. However, the Republicans could have averted this disaster if one, ONE, clearly conservative candidate had run - or distinguished him/her self early enough to give us a clear choice.
Hopefully some lessons were learned . . .
Normally I wouldn’t bother responding to a day-old post, but since it’s addressed to me…. This is a blog message board. It isn’t a national forum, nor is it generally quoted extensively in the media. We are REACTING to the story, not producing it. And we reserve the right under the First Amendment to the Constitution of the United States to speak our minds on the subject, even as you do.
governmentdron,
I was stationed in Berlin for 3 years on the inside of the wall and know the soviet style all too well. East Berlin was a propaganda festival railin against the west and our way of life.
Exactly like the modern democrat
rooster:
Too true.
And thanks for your service. I was about 12 or 13 when the Vietnam War ended - my childhood was pretty polluted by the hippie generation, which unfortunately left me going through my teen years with disdain for the idea of military service. I thank God that I was able to overcome the influence of so much liberalism in my youth. Ronald Reagan won the Presidency at just the right time, not only for me, but for a lot of my generation.
Possibly my biggest regret in life is that I chose not to join the service when I was a young man just out of high school - but it left me with an undying appreciation of those that did choose that path of service.
Must say the quality & tenor of the discussion here is excellent! This is my support group to survive the constant spins put out by the TV pundits (I gave up on newspapers already).
To me, it is clear we have done a massive social experiment in last 40 years - the 100 mil mostly non-white immigrants who came here and did not subscribe to the victim mentality succeeded in all fields from medicine to construction. Whereas the native-born minorities who were conditioned to think the “Wright way” gave up all the economic opportunities that were right around them. Their leaders had this idea of a ‘rainbow coalition’ which was ridiculous as each individual & group succeeds or fails on their own merits and drive.
I’m in the same boat as you, I thought I was going to be going to Nam as soon as I graduated in 78. I wasn’t big on the military, but a couple years after high school I joined and am glad I did.
Reagan loved the military. I knew when Clinton took over, we were going to be hit hard, and we were. If a liberal gets back in, they will tear down the military as much as they can get away with, just like Clinton did.
Obama, like Halle Berry, is half white.
What happened to that half? Why are they considered “black” celebrities? Why is the white half discounted or even ignored?
Is the fact that Obama’s black half is trying to get rid of his white half (and associations) indicative of how he would function as president?
That, and his association with a known racist preacher gives one pause.
rooster,
The shame of it is, after the liberals get through gutting our armed forces it makes it that much harder for a conservative to build them back up. And then they take the heat for “not having adequate forces” to take care of all the problems that crop up that, quite frankly, we MUST take care of.
We hear from the liberals that conservatives simply “don’t understand” just about anything. Unfortunately, we do understand how the liberal mind thinks - and that’s why we see it as something that must be fought . . . “enemies both foreign and domestic”.
Prior to his speech on Monday, Barack Obama presented himself as the post racial messiah.
In the speech, he tried to minimize and obscure the truth. For 20 years, he has been a member of the congregation lead by a black racist. Rev. Jeremiah Wright, Jr., preaches black liberation theology. The racist rants are not mere snippets. The hate of white corporate America and continuing oppression and victimization of black America are core beliefs of Rev. Wright.
If Obama has moved beyond the hate to the post racial nirvana, why are Obama, his wife, and two children in the pew every Sunday listening to the hate of blacks who are mired in the 60s and 70s?
What is the character of Obama who holds his white grandmother, who raised him from age 10, up to ridicule?
Two impudent questions are:
How black is Barack Obama?
When did Barack Obama become black?
By age 2, Obama’s black father and ultra-liberal, white mother had separated.
Nonetheless, according to his memoir, Dreams of My Father, his mother taught him about his black American and African heritage.
From age 6-10, he was living with his mother and her second husband and going to school in Jakarta, Indonesia.
At 10, he returned to Honolulu, lived with his white, middle class, grandparents, and attended the private Punahou School. He writes in the memoir that the majority of the students were Asian American and he was one of three black students.
While he lived in a white, middle class, home in Honolulu, it was at the Punahou School that Obama first became conscious of racism and what it means to be an African-American.
The reality is that Obama is trying to live a double life. To white liberals he is the post racial messiah. The purpose of the speech on Monday was to confirm to white liberal Democrats that Obama has moved beyond racism. His continuing attendance at Trinity United Church of Christ is to prove to black America that Rev. Wright is still his mentor and Obama believes the hate that Rev. Wright preaches.
Oh, wise white man please tell us more of your revelations and rise above us all for our lack of education, so we may know the truth of our inequities.
Oh educated one forgive us for our ignorance, we do not know the cultural aspects that you speak of and will not unless we learn from your vast pool of knowlege.
Oh one of realization, I do not know of any race that has suffered so much oppression, the members of my indian ancestors have lied of the white man taking our land and our dignity, my ancestors can not be trusted to tell the truth of our plight.
Let us bow to you oh eruditios one we have only lived pristine lives of luxury, we know nothing and with out your superior intelligence we will not know of what we speak.
Oh esteemed one tell us more of our lack of experience with the black community so we too may be the only white in the pews.
Oh, omnipotent one you have more experience than any of us here, please teach us master.
We will persecute our fellow citizens no more, we will look to you for guidance in all matters and will seek your permission before we state our misguided opinions.
And yet, it is acceptable for Wright and Obama to judge whites as “typical white people,” right? How can they make judgements, blanket ones at that, about whites when they have “zero perspective on their culture and heritage?” Might they not “think differently” from Obama and Wright? Or is it because they are “non-white race supremacists who think that everyone should think and act like them?
Funny how the same can be said of them from a white perspective, isn’t it?
As for “trumped up,” if the infamous Wright sermons were just aberrations, so atypical of his real thoughts and beliefs, 1why did they feel the need to publish them on DVD for your viewing pleasure? Someone claiming to be a man of God ought to act like one. Not a lot to ask.
And why is Obama more black than white? Is it his melanin content? If so, that is racist on its face (no pun intended).
Why is it that if you are critical of Obama, it can only be because he is (half) black? Isn’t that a racist conclusion? Why can’t he just be a wrongheaded, vacuous, bloviating politician?
Is it a coincidence that lead in paint was used as a white base component?
Sorry for being so late LGM but I never heard Jessie Jackson, Al Sharpton and now this Wright guy preach the true gospel of Christ. I have heard preachers personally for years that I know who are not saved. They never mention redemtpion, sin, heaven and hell. They are so involved in wordly affairs that they never mention the spiritial side. When Wright and the others make an Alter call to Christ then I will concede your point.
