This morning (Thursday 3/20/08) on WIP AM 610 Sports Radio in Philadelphia, host Angelo Cataldi interviewed Senator Obama. During the beginning of the segment (about 07:40 AM) Mr. Cataldi asked the Senator about his comments on Tuesday regarding his “white” grandmother. I am paraphrasing here, but his response was something like “She is a typical white person who fears people on the street.”
Please try to obtain a tape of the segment and listen to it yourself, but if I heard this correctly, it was another look at who this guy really is.
Hope the radio station posts the audio. Here’s 610’s site.
If this is how Obama responds when he’s “shaken up,” God help us if he’s in the White House during the next terrorist attack or international crisis.

Obama is a real piece of work. Funny how he doesn’t mention Jesse Jackson who has the same fears. Guess that doesn’t play into Obama’s racist personality.
I wonder how many white people, when asked, would say that they have no problem walking through a black neighborhood? That doesn’t make grandma a racist/bigot. That makes her sane. Maybe Obama should be giving grandma credit for his intellect instead of calling her a bigot.

Obama would be funny too if the press didn’t treat him with more respect than the pope. He’s a black Mr. Bean who can’t keep his foot out of his mouth. Only problem is when the press sees him standing around chewing on his toes, they feel it would be disrespectful not to ask him for a taste.

I tried my hand and politics for a local-level office once. Turns out, i didn’t have the knack for being underhanded and doing whatever it takes to get elected, even on that level. I know I couldn’t pass muster on the state or federal levels and turn on my family and friends to succeed.
The more slime the sleezy right throws at Obama the more Presidential he looks. You can make videos cutting between Obama and Malcolm X. You can pretend he doesn’t love his grandmother (why is “white” in quotes?) because he talks about her honestly. Can any of you pretend there are not racially charged situations that make you nervous?
Did you notice McCain, supposedly prepared and experienced, saying over and over that Iran was training Al Qaeda? He was corrected by Lieberman and Petraeus.

A waitress told a coworker (a Haitian) I live in Haiti. Then she pointed out I was white. I had to ROFL as I did not know it at the time.
I guess I should have asked Glowbama if it is okay for me to walk down streets in Haiti. SHEESH
A typical white person? I was having my hair done last night..I am white, my stylist is black and that is pertinent to the converstion because we got into “the” speech and in particular..Grandma. Here is what I learned from her: It isn’t a white thing, it’s a human condition. We sometimes are forced to go to areas known to be crime laden, and it is human nature to be scared. We dissected the city and guess what I learned? Well, I didn’t really learn it, I already knew it.. Blacks are no more apt to go to certain areas than whites are. Blacks aren’t given a pass any more than a white person is. We also concluded that not all the forbidden areas are “black”..so onto the feelings on Grandma..by this time, one of her co-workers who is also black and didn’t have a client is in our conversation. You do not air the business of the woman that raised you. It just isn’t acceptable to blacks or whites. The coworker (early 50’s) brought up the point that Obama talks about his struggle being raised a bi-racial child in a white world, but what about his grandparents struggle..They didn’t stuggle?
The church and Rev. Wright…why did it take 20 years to realize what was going on, they asked.. Their feelings were that his judgement isn’t too sound. The speech made them doubt him.
At this point, my appointment concluded..I learned that sometimes things aren’t black or white..their shared human feelings..
Y’know, I’ve never been afraid of black people in general but, after hearing how some feel about me, I’m beginning to feel some anxiety. I can’t believe how naive I’ve been.

We all now need to think of Jesse Jackson as a “typical white person”. Try people!
“Typical white person?” What the hell does that mean? What about saying that she’s a typical woman living in a country where 1 in 10, or 1 in 5, or more women will be raped in her life by a man of a variety of races? How could Barak not get that? What about saying she’s an elder American in a society where some people prey on elder Americans? Barak is turning out to be as insensitive as hell.
This is all well and good, and more than enough to justify throwing Barack Obama under the same bus he threw his grandma under, but I tend to get a lot more concerned about him when I read things like

Anyway you look at it, Obama has become unelectable. He first hooked up with Rev. Wright when starting out as a community organizer to gain street cred, not knowing how far he’d rise in life. Now it has caught up with him, and his stumbling over it has done in his candidacy.
I think that this is a pretty stereotypical thing for Obummer to say about his grandmother. Perhaps, she had a justified fear of crime. To say this about his grandmother but to listen to his pastor Wright spout racist conspiracy theories is just plain hypocritical.

What Obama fails to say is that his white grandmother didn’t call every black man she passed a bum, but only certain ones that she knew or expected were bums. I’d be willing to bet she said that about a few white men as well.
When I lived in the South as a child, we had three different versions of the “N” word. One was just simply an expression of race - like caucasian. The second was the well known reference to a black bum and the word often associated as the “N” word. The third was a term of endearment for a well respected black man who was down on his luck but otherwise a good American citizen.
The same type of language choices also applied to whites. One was an expression of race. One was an expression of low class trash. And one was an expression of a hard working farmer or someone who worked consistently in the sun.

Hey, Mister P, I think lgm is inadvertently gunning for an “unofficial advisor” position in Obummer’s campaign. He’s already pretty adept at changing the subject when the subject of race (like the economy and foreign relations) show Obummer to be ignorant of not only judgement but common sense. Then again, lgm tends to change the subject when either a)the current topic makes him uncomfortable or b)he doesn’t know what he’s talking about. I really think Obummer should hire him, don’t you?

Obama seems to identify with the black part of himself and not the white part. This is quite odd as he spent 99.9% of his life being raised by his white mother and her white parents. Does he prefer to identify himself as black because he’s ashamed of being white? It sure seems like that sometimes.

I went to a mostly black middle school. We had school shootings before they were chic and gang wars in the front field after school. (I rode a bus an hour and a half to get to school. There was another middle school 15 minutes from my house. Yep, it was forced bussing.)
Anyway, I learned not only that I could have black classmates, but also black friends. That’s how racism is conquered. When people realize they all have something in common, DESPITE their skin color.
If I expressed this opinion nowadays, I would be called a racist for not recognizing and celebrating the majesty of black culture.
Meanwhile Rev Al Sharpton at the R&R trying to what Rev Wright’s remarks, explain them away as only criticism of the Government? You are right. I served in the Army for 24 years and grew up on the city limits of Detroit. I am one of the white monsters that Rev Wright describes. I also have a black woman friend and have dated blacks for years. Now I am not sure anymore; reality is the majority of blacks in this country agree with Wright.
I have never really feared blacks, but hearing the hatred that comes out of Obama’s church, with a membership of over 8000 strong I am going to watch my back. VERIFY then TRUST

Well I have been listening to the response of blacks a white leftists and my conclusion is that they are attempting to bring every single white person into this and label them racists. On the black side most all believe that much if not all of what the cult leader says is true. So Obama is a typical black. I had the audacity of hope, hope that racism was not the issue it used to be but it isn’t. This guy BHO attended a racist anti semantic Africa first church and raised his children in that environment. Heck why don’t we just seek out a black Hitler and elect him president? My ancestors fought in the revolution and we have always loved America but today im wishing there was a new place to go and start it all over again. I have worked in black neighborhoods many times so who are really the guttless wonders here? My biggest concern is not these racists but the other decent blacks that will unfortunately be lumped in with these types by some people. As for his stances on policy issues, yeah, most of us on here have listened. So what’s new from Obama here? Same socialist crap the Democrats have been espousing since the days of the New Deal, just more so. So much of that was ruled unconstitutional then, so what makes it a good idea today? Those policies are, basically, completely un-American.

The coalition of races against blacks here has been formed completely out of ignorance. Do you not realize that the black community has some unique cultural aspects to it? Do you not realize that hundreds of years of oppression and mistreatment have something to do with their cultural differences?
Now, some of you actually seem to believe that because you are a non-black that you are in a position to judge black people because you are from a “proper” background.
How many of you have actually attended a predominately black church? During my esteemed career, I have been a member of several ALL black churches where I was the ONLY white person there. I have worshiped with them, lived among them, and I have accepted them as my brothers and sisters: fellow citizens. I have learned to understand much of their thought patterns and thus I understand much of their culture. Black folks are just as much Americans (unless they happen to be illegal aliens) as all of us (unless YOU are an illegal alien).
So how about knocking off the persecution of our fellow Americans and get off your “non-black” supremacist high-horse and start addressing the real issues that are in play?
