Where will Obama be for Easter?

By Michelle Malkin  •  March 22, 2008 12:01 AM

Looks like Barack Obama won’t be in the pews at Trinity Church of Christ this Easter. He’s headed for some fun in the sun. Via ABC News:

Obama’s allies are hoping the focus will stay off of Wright this Easter Sunday when the Democratic frontrunner skips services at Trinity United Church of Christ in Chicago and heads on vacation. Per ABC News’ Sunlen Miller, sources familiar with Obama’s plans say the Illinois Democrat is expected to go on a tropical vacation with the most likely bet appearing to be St. Thomas in the U.S. Virgin Islands. Obama, whose campaign will not confirm his plans, is expected to leave Chicago on Sunday morning and will return either on Tuesday night or Wednesday morning.

Wonder if there are any black liberation theologians holding services on the islands this weekend?

Maybe he can make a little room on his plane for those San Francisco America-haters. They need one-way tickets.

On a related note, Ace e-mails a spot-on mash-up of Obama set to Depeche Mode’s “Personal Jesus”–which ends with the very fitting admonition attributed to G.K. Chesterton:

“When men stop believing in God they don’t believe in nothing; they believe in anything.”

Amen:

This blog post about where Barack Obama is going to spend Easter reminds me of the local media here in Denver trying to find out what kind of Halloween candy that John Elway was giving out at his home back in his early years as a member of the Broncos. LOL!

It’s ironic that all these comments here so far by supposed conservative Christians that are full of vile hatred towards a man who is a Christian, a great family man and who has and is living the American Dream, something he talks about in EVERY speech on the campaign trail.

Politico has posted Barack Obama’s Easter message, here:

    http://images.politico.com/global/obamaeaster.jpg

And for you Michelle, I hope you get a chance to interview Barack Obama in person. Like myself, you may disagree with him on just about every issue, but he’s not the evil man that you, conservative talk show hosts and other conservative bloggers are trying to make him out to be.

BTW, when will you post all of Michelle Obama’s speech leading up to the comments you posted a few weeks ago??? Shall I queue up the crickets? Talk show hosts Dan Caplis and Craig Silverman played it on the air here in Denver so that listeners could make up their own mind about Michelle Obama’s comments in context versus a 30 second clip that everyone has played over and over.

Also, I hope you saw Chris Wallace and Brian Kilmeade on Fox & Friends yesterday morning. Finally some of the right leaning folks in the media have realized that the unhinged hysterical Obama bashfest has crossed a line. It was a surprise to see both Chris and Brian stand up for Obama. Gretchen Carlson and Steve Doocy made total fools of themselves with their unhinged hatred during Chris Wallace’s appearance on their show.

With a socialist Congress, having Obama, a socialist candidate, as President would change our country around. With no one to stop them, they will enact a socialist form of government and stifle any attempts to keep a “free enterprise” system. With more regulations and controls on businesses, prices will soar. Then to placate the people, price controls will be enacted. Of course, taxes will go up and we all know who the “rich” are. They are you and me who pay the taxes. So more money will be taken out of our paychecks and given to those who support them, in the form of “fairness”. Plus, healthcare will surely be nationalized and that will spell doom to many sick, and soon to be sick people. I’ve looked at national healthcare in other countries; it’s a disaster. I have patients who would be dead now, if they were under such systems. I don’t want the Pelosis, Kennedys and Obamas to run my life. I can do that very well without their “help”. You think the economy is bad, wait until the left wing has total control. Our military will be weakened, as always happens under their control. And I see this Obama as a rookie with no experience in foreign affairs and no real ideas on economics, other than what will gather votes for him to win, and keep him (and the other socialists) in power. He runs on “hope and change” which means nothing to me. All his platform is about is “vote for me, I’m black”. To run on the ideas that this country needs to take several steps away from what made this country great, and to finally ditch the Constitution…yes, sir…that’s evil.

This is liberal double speak. Wright and M.Obama think the American dream is a nightmare we need to wake up from.

And the there is this from Power Line:

This is Trinity United for Hamas

Aaron Klein reports that Barack Obama’s Chicago church reprinted the Los Angeles Times column by Hamas leader Mousa abu Marzook. The column spouts the usual Hamas propaganda defending terrorism as legitimate resistance. The column was published on the “pastor’s page” of the Trinity Church bulletin on July 22, 2007 and posted online here by Bizzyblog yesterday. Perhaps most revealing is the church bulletin’s own subhead over the column: “An official of the movement describes its goals for all of Palestine.” You know, “all of Palestine,” including Israel, whose right to exist Hamas denies and which it seeks to “liberate” for Islam.

Why would the Kenyan’s care about our election? Maybe because after Barry looked like he could get the nomination, Barry’s cousin Odinga who lost a legit election is reluctantly granted a form of joint presidential powers to stop the violence he and his followers began.

Isn’t it possible that Kenya did this hoping that they would get “Preferential” treatment from Barry, if they give in to cousin Odinga’s anarchist?

Half the problem with Obama is the people who really, really believe in him. Are they ever setting themselves up for a fall.

But the other problem, and I think the larger one by far, is what does he believe in? A few weeks back David Horowitz made a big deal about Obama’s letter to the Secretary General of the U.N. in which he defended Israel. Fine. Much appreciated. Now in addition to his pastor’s comments about Jews, we find out as several have noted, that his church has no problem with HAMAS. So where is Mr. Obama in all this? If this is something once again that white people don’t understand, what about Jewish people?

This is not a trivial question. It strikes right to the root of America’s dealings with the mid-East. Yet with Obama you can only make guesses based on the evidence. The man never comes out and says what he means. He never integrates it with any aspect of his other beliefs and positions, whatever they may be. His defenders reply: show me a politician does? Even if we grant that, Obama and his followers have set themselves on a very high moral perch. We mortals on the lower levels need to know.

Again, these are extremely serious concerns. It’s not a quibble about which version of socialized medicine the candidate is going to push. As president, Obama would be in talks with, for example, Mad Dr. A of Iran, whose opinions on Jews and America are fairly close to those of Rev. Wright. Where will Mr. Obama stand in all this? Will he flip a coin? Given his record to date, it would be an improvement.

Part of me wonders if the man is a void. Perhaps he doesn’t really believe what Rev. Wright says about America or white people or Jews, but we know now he can’t quite bring himself to fully repudicate it either. Probably he doesn’t believe his grandmother (one of the many, many whites who helped him over the years) is a bad person, but he can’t bring himself to think of her as a good person or that her personal context is far more humane than that of Rev. Wright’s. He just kind of drifts along, a transcendent Mr. Smooth, who lets his followers do the nasty business of denouncing as racist anyone who dares question him.

    It’s all quite creepy.

What a great video! The video and quotes by various people overcome with the “messiah glow” of Obama certainly depicts people “worshiping” at Obama’s rallies.

This morning, I just had an “anonymous” commenter claim that he is a Republican, yet says that he agrees with Wright’s “chickens have come home to roost” comment. I wonder if he even realizes that it is a quote originally spoken by that hater, Malcolm X? Wish I could find the Youtube video that shows that fact.

He also objected to the “sound bites” being taken from the sermons. What???

The sound “bites” speak for themselves! No amount of spin can excuse the magnitude of hate being spewed by Wright.

I have NEVER been in ANY Christian church where the preacher mixed politics, hate speech and racism as Wright did. What’s worse is that the church had the videos for sale!! That means that they AGREE WITH and are PROUD of these racist rants. The people attending there would NEVER stay in such a church if they didn’t AGREE WITH THE PASTOR THERE! THAT IS OBAMA’S PROBLEM…HIS 20 YEAR ATTENDANCE THERE PROVES THAT HE AGREED WITH WRIGHT’S RANTS! His wife proved it too when she said, “for the first time in my adult life, I am proud of my country.”

This privileged, educated, rich middle-aged woman feels THAT WAY ABOUT AMERICA? That’s just over the top…

For me, there are MANY GOOD REASONS not to vote for Obama…none of which have anything to do with his skin color. It is his POLITICS AND POLICIES that I vehemently disagree with!

How apropos that Obama decides to skip attending church on Resurrection Sunday.

It would seem that if ANYONE (like Obama) thinks of THEMSELVES (himself) as the “new messiah,” then there is obviously no good reason for THEM (him) to go to church on one of the most holiest days of the year on the Christian calendar – Easter Sunday – to worship the True, One and Only Messiah who died for the sins of mankind and rose from the grave three days later.

    His name is Jesus Christ.

“We bombed Hiroshima, we bombed Nagasaki, and we nuked far more than the thousands in New York and the Pentagon, and we never batted an eye … We have supported state terrorism against the Palestinians and black South Africans, and now we are indignant because the stuff we have done overseas is now brought right back to our own front yards. America’s chickens are coming home to roost.”

Does anyone know if he has been asked if he was there and, if so, what his answer was?

Many of you have covered my thoughts already.
I really can NOT imagine a Christian avoiding church on EASTER, especially his church of nearly 20 years. A church he defended moments ago. Why is B. Hussein hiding now? Is he not willing to sacrifice anything for the Lord? Someone above said noglobama is a Christian, and that is his (obama’s) to claim, but I have seen nothing at all to make me think he is in fact a Christian. His actions do not suggest he is anything Christ asked us to be. Now after his actions have put much in question about his judgment, he runs away….very telling, again. Obama is a disgrace.

Put your faith in Christ. HE IS RISEN!
God Bless You all. Have a blessed weekend.

When I heard about the ‘Halo Glow’ that Obama had, I thought it was just a metaphor.. until I saw the montage (montage) of photos of him.. and somehow BHO is in a glow of a ‘halo’.. and some of those campaign posters don’t hide it at all..

and Mike Huckabee (no defender of his) got racked over the coals for having a cross in an ad of his..

so, to get this straight, if you pretend to be a messiah, it okay,.. if you reference it in some form, say a cross in the background, that is bad..

Doesn’t look like the Marxist/Islamist Barack Hussein Obama cares or believes much in Christ’s Resurrection. Catholics and Protestants will be in church on Sunday; Hussein Obama will be on the beach.

The idea that “Allah” could be become flesh and dwell among us, be nailed to a cross and then rise again is extremely offensive to Muslims.

Gabe, you seem to pride yourself on being some sort of scholar. You claim that Obama is a Marxist and an Islamist. Do you have proof/evidence? Please provide source material and/or credible links. Otherwise, you’re just another internet whack job making spewing ridiculous nonsense. Also, are you sure Obama and his family won’t be attending Easter services while on vacation?

I was reading this morning from the magazine First Things an article by Walter A. McDougall entitled “Our Stillborn Renaissance” which contains, among other interesting things, some observations about Ralph Waldo Emerson which so eerily describe the Obamamessiah that it literally made my hairs stand on end. The emptiness of Obama’s speeches have been so often commented upon together with the cultic adoration of his believers/followers, but no comments I have read have described so thoroughly the roots of his emptiness as I found in this article.

Read the following excerpt from McDougall’s article. For an interesting exercise, I have used the handy “strike” feature to see how the “shoe fits” as it were. (Italics are in original; bold is my emphasis.)
    __________

Emerson’s Obama’s essays were written to be spoken aloud, like an Athenian peroration, for their effect. Glib apercus* – a disciple called them “dots of thought” – tumbled over each other in defiance of the rules of logic. Years later, Lowell wrote to a friend: “Emerson’s Obama’s oration was more disjointed than usual, even with him. It began nowhere and ended everywhere, and yet . . . it was all such stuff as stars are made of. . . . I felt something in me that cried, “Ha, ha, to the sound of the trumpets!” Exactly so: Whether on the lyceum circuit or in print, Emerson Obama told Americans that they were unique individuals in touch with divinity, infinite in their possibilities, laws unto themselves – and told them in a language so abstruse and uplifting that consumers of culture suspended their critical faculties.
    * * *
No one gainsaid Emerson’s Obama’s way with words. . . . Behind the aphorisms lurked a brilliant, voracious ego blind to any truths the human race may have learned by revelation or hard experience. Emerson’s first essay, the 1836 “Nature,” began: “Our age is retrospective. It builds on the sepulchers of the fathers. It writes biographies, histories, and criticism. The foregoing generations beheld God and nature face to face; we, through their eyes. Why should we also enjoy an original relation with the universe? Why should not we have a poetry and philosophy of insight and not of tradition, and religion by revelation to us Me, and not the history of theirs?”

He taught Obama subscribes to only two realities: the Me and the Not Me or Other . . .

Emerson Obama taught the postmodern creed that truth is accessible to all through the divine over-soul, the assurance of truth being simply one’s feeling of certainty. “We know truth when we see it, from opinion, as we know when we are awake that we are awake.”

    * * *
It was Emerson who warned in “Circles”: “ Beware when the great God lets loose a thinker on this planet. Then all things are at risk.”
    _______________
[*Note: I had to look up “apercus” - a synonym would be “insights”.]

Obama, it is apparent, believes himself to be “a thinker” who knows truth because he is certain of his own feelings, a unique individual in touch with divinity, a law unto himself, a man who defies the rules of logic to deliver his dots of thought aimed to uplift the consumers of culture who willingly suspend their critical faculties and thus experience religion through his revelation and cry out Change! Change! We are the Change!

Obama is the “Me.” We are the “Not Me.”

And thus we realize . . . all things are at risk.

The single word on his so-called “iconic” campaign poster should be changed from “CHANGE” to simply “ME”.

For Obama there is no larger truth held outside that single word, his personal favorite dot of thought: ME.

Why hasn’t the media reported on Obama’s and the reveren Reverend Dr. Jeremiah A. Wright connection with the “Almighty Black P. Stone Nation.” ???

    3) Don’t let anyone deceive you in any way, for (that day will not come) until the rebellion occurs and the man of lawlessness[a] is revealed, the man doomed to destruction. 4) He will oppose and will exalt himself over everything that is called God or is worshiped, so that he sets himself up in God’s temple, proclaiming himself to be God.

is that NOT the basis of marxism/socialism?

When Obama didn’t put his hand to his heart during the Anthem, it showed that he had no idea how to be an American.

Now, he has no idea how to be a Christian. Most Christians go to Easter services at their church or they return home and go to their parent’s church for the day.

I wonder how many Presidential candidates in the last 200 years have NOT been to church for Easter during the campaign???

Is this the change we were looking for?
