Will any American company host “Fitna?” Update: Wilders says, “If need be, I’ll personally distribute DVDs;” Dutch court to rule
Scroll down for updates…

It’s like the American media and the Danish cartoons all over again.
US-based Network Solutions was supposed to have hosted Dutch politician Geert Wilders’ anti-Islam mini-documentary due out tonight.
Now, via Allahpundit and many readers, there’s this message currently running on the site where the “Fitna” movie should be:
What the h-e-double-hockey-sticks? Just last week, Network Solutions said it was prepared for any uproar when it stepped up to the plate and agreed to host the documentary:
A leading U.S.-based Internet company says it’s ready for any electronic attacks that may come its way for hosting a Web site featuring a provocative short film that is critical of the Koran. The movie, made by a controversial Dutch politician and due for release any time now, has sparked protests in the Islamic world and concerns in Europe.
In recent days, the Dutch prime minister has reiterated warnings that his country’s citizens and businesses could be attacked because of the film; the European Union’s executive commission has confirmed it sent talking points on the film to E.U. missions abroad; and NATO’s secretary general has voiced concern that the film could increase the risk to Dutch troops serving in Afghanistan.
Outspoken right-wing Dutch lawmaker Geert Wilders said he made the movie to support his contention that the Koran — which Muslims revere as the revealed word of Allah to the prophet Mohammed — inspires “intolerance, murder and terror.”
He hopes to find a television network willing to broadcast the 15-minute documentary, entitled “Fitna” (“strife” in Arabic), but also plans to post it on the Internet. He has set up a Web site for this purpose, which currently carries only an image of the Koran alongside the text, “Geert Wilders presents Fitna. Coming Soon.”
The site is hosted by Network Solutions, a northern Virginia-based tech company that manages about seven million Internet domain names.
Asked whether the company expects the site to draw much interest or strong reaction, spokeswoman Susan Wade said Wednesday said she could not say how much traffic the site was drawing, “but we are always prepared for any kind of denial-of-service attack, whether it be from anywhere for any reason. It’s something that we’re always preparing for.”
If people have complaints about the content of Web sites hosted by the company, she said, they could report it.
“We have an acceptable-use policy that all customers agree to. [In the event of complaints] we would review the content, and take any necessary action.”
Robert Spencer calls the step “preemptive censorship.”
Otherwise known as the cringe of dhimmitude.
So will any American hosting company have the balls to host “Fitna?”
Stay tuned.

Update 10:33pm Eastern. Reuters reports…
A U.S.-based web service, which Islam critic and Dutch right-wing lawmaker Geert Wilders planned to use to show his film critical of the Koran, said on Saturday that it had inactivated the site due to complaints. “This site has been suspended while Network Solutions is investigating whether the site’s content is in violation of the Network Solutions Acceptable Use Policy,” the company said on the site www.fitnathemovie.com.
Wilders, who has given few details about his 15-minute film, has said he plans to release ‘Fitna’ on the Internet before the end of the month after Dutch broadcasters declined to show it. Fitna is a Koranic term sometimes translated as “strife”. Wilders still plans to show his film despite the setback, Dutch agency ANP reported.
“If need be, I will personally distribute DVDs in the Dam,” ANP quoted him as saying. The Dam is the central square in Amsterdam, popular with both the Dutch and tourists.
And a Dutch court is set to rule on a Muslim lawsuit to ban the film:
A Dutch court has agreed to examine a lawsuit filed by a Muslim group to ban an anti-Qur’an film by a hot-headed far-right lawmaker as the government launched a diplomatic offensive to limit the expected fallout.
“It’s a request for summary judgment,” Hague District Court spokeswoman Paula Koning was quoted as saying by Agence France-Presse (AFP).
The Islamic Federation has asked the court to appoint a panel of experts to review the documentary prepared by MP Geert Wilder and see if it should be banned.
The court will rule on the Muslim lawsuit by March 28.

I hope so.
It’s past midnight in the UK and still nothing at fitnathemovie.co.uk
Zero surprise from me here.
American media has been neutered by the fear of insulting Islam, hence, ‘no balls’.
That’s such BS. I’m not big on boycotts…although I did boycott Coke when I was 12 because of their Apartheid stance. Well, that and my crush on Stevie Van Zandt. But if Network Solutions backs out of their agreement, I’m canceling my hosting accounts with them and switching to someone else. God knows they host all kinds of other controversial stuff without batting an eye. Like Michelle said, get some balls.
They could always use bit torrent to distribute it. Just have a site w/instructions on how to download it and go from there. Pretty simple to use as I’m sure others who use bit torrent will agree.
If he’s smart he just puts it on PirateBay and lets it spread from there. In fact I would be surprised if it didn’t leak to the Internet within 24 hours.
So relax, I’d be more concerned if it’s not leaked by the end of the week…
Do you think that if the message of Fitna comes true their overlords will still let them play on the internet? I don’t think so it is haram with along with everything else we have invented , do, or believe in. Idiots. The 20 point plan to take over America. Yes control of the internet is there, point number five. We can see them all taking shape in one way or another
here. Don’t think it can happen here? Yeah that’s what many Germans thought prior to Hitler’s whirlwind rise to power. I’ve been enlightened about a lot of stuff I didn’t think existed as of late.
OT. Lady Liberty invades Berkeley. Thankfully, Americans have the balls that the msm lack.
Well, it sure won’t be Comedy Central — as most recall no doubt, CC refused to show any depiction of Mohammad on South Park or presumably any other of their shows. They have relented, however, in regards to Scientology: Graven images of Tom Cruise have been show from time to time.
EMule would work the same way.
What about YouTube?
Well, I sent on my comment to Network Solutions. Maybe I’ll get a notice they are canceling my 7 accounts with them.
Where’s the petition. I’ll sign it.
Well there goes another keyboard, well after I stop laughing ….. No offence
I am just going to make sure to et it the second it pops up anywhere then I will start burning copies and sending them to everyone I know.
“A Dutch court has agreed to examine a lawsuit filed by a Muslim group to ban an anti-Qur’an film by a hot-headed far-right lawmaker as the government launched a diplomatic offensive to limit the expected fallout.”
Well, to coin Bill Clinton’s famous line, I guess it depends on what your definition of the words “hot-headed far-right lawmker” is.
I’ve heard this guy speak. He sounds pretty rational to me. Show me the film.
Well the Chicoms are all about openess and free access to the web. Maybe a Chinese server could host it. Or maybe Code Pink could host it on their servers. They’re just as concerned about free speech as are the Chicoms. Am I forgetting anyone?
If this stands, we will begin to see the death of freedom of speech in this country. It will set a precedent that the internet is now off limits for anything not meeting an undefined standard of political correctness.
Interesting that we can have the Jeremiah Wrights of the world post racist statements railing against the US and white people, can have internet providers supporting jihadist internet sites calling for the deaths of Christians and Jews, but we do not dare allow any gateway for information that offends the sensibilities of those following Islam.
And as goes our rights under the first amendment, so go our remaining rights.
Well this shows the utility of programs such as Kazaa and Bit Torrent.
Now if anyone will have the first available, and host a torrent for the second, …
I find it amazing that the film hasn’t even been released yet and already its premise is proven beyond refutation. There is no tolerance when it comes from the Islamofascists. Religion of Peace my ass.
It’s funny how Muslims are afraid of the truth being spread.
Duke of Pronia
I am wondering if the esteemed “Uncle” Jeremiah Wright ever deigned to spew venomous diatribes about any aspect of Islam in his sermons? We know he showed great respect for the poor widdle oppressed Palis. Will Obama call for the end of censorship on attempts at Free Speech directed at the evil of the ROP?
Sure is easy to malign Christianity at every turn. But the PC crowd and ACLU is right up demanding all sorts of rights for Islam regardless of any prior calls for separation of church and state. Foot basins, anyone? G*d Damn Amerikkkkka? How about G*d damn Islam, mohammed and allah- the unholy trinity of blasphemy and dhimmitude to be? Imagine carrying such a sign anywhere in Mideast except Israel? You can’t even be in Mecca if non-moooooslim. Where are the churches and synagogues in Saudi Arabia? But they as heck can build mosques out the wazoo here in America. How about tit for tat?
Last I noticed films fell into the inanimate objects category. Unless persons who are willing to use opinions as an excuse for violence are present, its likely there won’t be violence.
Place the blame on the people willing to use religion as a tool for repression where it belongs and save freedom for what it is..an essential right above any attempt at stifling.
How can “coming soon” violate their Acceptable Use Policy?
It’ll be interesting to see what Mr. Wilders means by “critical.” Somehow, I think some people (Muslims and liberals) would rub that as insulting, but most of the credible people I know of who are critical of Islam (Wafa Sultan, Robert Spencer) are so in a nice way.
My view is this: you don’t need a movie to say that word for word interpretation of the Quran is intolerant.
I just tried the UK link again (see my earlier comment). There is a message there for all of us:
So, muslims are afraid of one man’s view. Could it be that that one man’s view of islam is closer to the truth then they are willing to admit?
Imagine if it was a movie about the assassination of the current Republican President, GW Bush; or a
documentarymovie on the evils of the NRA by Michael Moore – does anyone here believe that they wouldn’t get theatrical release? Oh, wait, they did.A fifteen minute
documentarymovie on the evils of Christianity would have Hollywood beating down the doors of the creator to develop it into a major theatrical release, just in time for Christmas. No, no double standard there.
Network Solutions is a *major* spam hoster. Now they pretend to have ethics? Really.

Brilliant!
Acceptable use is directly related to the death threats er complaints they have been receiving. No one has seen the movie but there they are already trying to win friends and influence people. The word is that the UK site is a fake. Not surprised as from what I am seeing we will see the UK go IUK before I RIP. It is the way that muslim supremacists do things it is how they have operated throughout history. I say muslim because muslim means male, muslima is female. Funny, there are no distinct words for male and female Christians. Islam is like a pyramid of discriminatory supremacism with the muslim sitting on top. And just think, our guvment officials brought these cretins here, happy happy joy joy!
The question still is: Would this kind of thing be happening if it was the Bible that was being talked about?
All Narcissistic people have the same thing in common, they will not tolerate criticism in any form and will try to destroy anyone that tries.
In a democracy we have debates about everything. An open debate about the Koran is not just desired, it is mandatory!
National Geographic did a whole night of Bible shows last night. They put forth theories of all kinds to rationalize the events in the Bible in human/scientific terms. See any Christians rioting? How come they were not scared of Christian retribution? Christian charities are recognized for the huge contribution all over the world, bunch a narcissists.
As a web developer I vowed last year to stop using Network Solutions over their ICANN end around in registering available domains people search for through their site for 48-hours, then blackmailing people to use their service in order to get the domain they want.
This is just the last straw.
Before today I made it a point not to bad mouth or actively steer clients from Network Solutions, but after reading the TOS BS they posted I will be actively persuading all of my clients, past, present and future to use a different registrar for all of their domain services.
Someone tell the producers about MediaTemple. I’m constantly impressed by their service and support.
I called Network Solutions to complain about the site being shut down here is the customer service number I called 1-888-642-9645 (ask to speak to a supervisor), I went thru the menu twice then I talked to a CS rep. she said “I have no control over the site being shut down that is at the discretion of managment.” I said so basically what your telling me is that you don’t care if I have a complaint or not, apperantly Network Solutions is going to stonewall me on the issue. I asked to talk to her supervisor or someone in management to register my complaint she said yes sir let me transfer you. Waiting for a member of managment to pick up for 5 min. asked Roger “Why has NS taken the site down? because it is critical of Islam? Is NS going to take down the sites critcal and offensive to Christianity? I have a problem with a company that is based in the U.S. practicing censorship, if NS is going to shut the site down because it is offensive to muslims then it in turn shut down all the sites offensive to Christianity and any other religion for that matter, thru this logic one religion becomes offensive to another then you should shut down all religious sites, does that make sense? He said “no sir it does’nt, their may be another reason for it.” I said “It is a site to watch one single! movie that is critical of islam, if we put two and two together the only reason for the site to be shut down is because muslims find the movie offensive because it is critical of islam would you agree Roger?” He said “yes sir, I will send your complaint up to the proper dept. sir”, “will they be contacting me Roger?”, He said “to tell you the truth I really don’t know, do we have your email address” I replied “you should I gave it to Chet” (a woman) “let me look is it Blah Blah” I said “yes it is”
I will foward this information to the proper dept. and I can’t tell you if they will contact you or not but they will see it and it will be put on a list of complaints for this issue.” the end. By the way I think I was talking to India. START CALLING NETWORK SOLUTIONS HELP A DUTCH BROTHER OUT.
“well Mr. Mule
Blind_Mule, Remind me to never piss you off.
Ok, if we don’t see the clip available I want to be the first one to call for a Congressional investigation. I want hearings as to whether or not there were threats or intimidation involved. If congress can hold hearings on ball players using drugs this should be just as important. Which brings me to a question, if these people who appear to be getting their way at NS are eventually overseeing drug use in sports, do athletes get beheaded or stoned if caught using them? The punishment for using drugs in islam is death. Just wondering.
Question: What is a moderate “m”uslim? Answer: That’s one who will still kill you, but he won’t eat you.
Rather than determining if the film should be banned, that Dutch court should be determining whether or not Islam should be banned as a hate crime against Christianity and a menace to civilized society.
Amen
I like the fact that Islamists are trying to “ban” this work. Nothing makes people want something more than telling them they cannot have it. Niiice job, mo-rons. Does a boycott of “The Last Temptation of Christ” come to mind? Evidently not. Anyway, I like the P2P proliferation idea. So many unchecked sources — stopping the spread of this work should be impossible. Who knows? Maybe even some Moslems could see it, hoping to learn what the fuss is all about. Maybe the work could even open up some eyes, and by extension, hearts and heads as well (yeah, riiight). *out*
Network Solution’s sudden urge to “review” their decision to host Fitna couldn’t have anything to do with this, could it?
Network Solutions has no problem in hosting them.
/spit
Hypocrites.
#42 – hizbollah.org only has its domain registration thru Network Solutions; domains have a much looser Acceptable Usage Policy than websites.
fitnathemovie.com was going to be SERVED via NetSol’s servers.
BitTorrent users will spread “Fitna” far and wide.
I think NetSol either:
a) chickened out (fear of massive Distributed Denial of Service attacks, possible internal sabotage from Muslim datacenter employees or even armed assaults on the datacenters) or
b) Muslim Petrocrat money is involved here; maybe NetSol has some influential Muslim stock and/or bond holders.
NetSol should have known from the start “Fitna” would really PO the “Ummah” but they couldn’t resist the smell of filthy lucre to host it.
Someone please tell him about Bit Torrent. It’s a simple way to distribute content without a need for a central host. The more people you have downloading and seeding the file(s), the faster it can be distributed. I want to see this film!
Get him to distribute the film in an .iso file format ready to be burned onto DVD. People can share the file or they can burn and share the DVD’s. The file wouldn’t be more than 1 GB in size.
Would any BitTorrent links to Fitna be welcome here?
