Kwame Kilpatrick learns his fate

Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick, a one-time rising star and Detroit’s youngest elected leader, was charged Monday with perjury and other counts after sexually explicit text messages contradicted his sworn denials of an affair with a top aide.
Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy also charged the popular yet polarizing 37-year-old mayor with obstruction of justice and misconduct in office.Former Chief of Staff Christine Beatty, 37, who also denied under oath that she and Kilpatrick had a romantic relationship in 2002 and 2003, was charged with perjury and obstruction of justice.
“Some have suggested that the issues in this case are personal or private,” Worthy said.
“The justice system has been severely mocked and the public trust trampled on. … This case is about as far from being a private matter as one can get,” she said.
The charges could signal the end of Kilpatrick’s six-year career as mayor of one of America’s largest cities.
No worries. Maybe he’ll run for Congress!

I have a feeling that they’ll have to take him out kicking and screaming. BTW, there has been a HUGE trial here in Lansing, Michigan regarding a Ingham County Circuit Judge Beverly Nettles-Nickerson, who is charged with fabricating evidence, coercion, and making false charges of racism (among other things). She’s making as much of a stink about all this as Mr. Kilpatrick.
Michigan is fast becoming the armpit of America. If it’s bad where you live, it’s MUCH worse here–I assure you.
Detroit had kept voting another piece of garbage in office; irregardless of his corruption, Coleman Young.
Of course the msm thinks they shouldn’t mention that Kwame is a dem because it goes without saying that the “typical black person” votes for a democrat. Detroit is predominately a black population so it’s citizens who are “Typical black people” only vote for the democrats.
Hope this clears up any confusion caused by the “Typical media people”.

I’m with you except that this all involved whistleblower protection filed against Kwame. Kwame could have settled for $100,000. He told everyone to go suck an egg. Now the city, not Kwame, is stuck not with a $100,000 settlement, but closer to 9 Million!
So do I think the mayor should be charged? HELL YES! To the fullest extent of the law.
Did anyone notice that his wife wasn’t standing by his side? All that suffering he must have gone through during his affair and then not to have his wife stand-by like Spitzer, Clinton. Guess the wife has no political aspirations. Good for her.

Why do we elect black Mayors and Governers?
The truth is that we elect them because WE KNOW that one of their chief duties will be to lock-up black criminals, and we’re just too scared to admit that reality, so we pretend that it’s their “policies” we’re voting for. We feel better seeing blacks arrest blacks for criminal behavior. When white police arrest blacks, the media and liberals create images of something they call “RACISM,” which, although they won’t define, they assure us it’s BAD!
But when we really examine the policies of most black politicians, we find them indistinguishable from socialists and more “racist” than the “Typical White Person!” Hmm.
To all the defenders of Kwame who are trying to spin this as only being about sex, IT’S NOT! Veteran police officers had their career ruined and a cash-strapped city has spent nearly $10 million on paying off and mopping up Kwame’s shenanigans. In a city without the money for cops, firemen, sanitation, and God knows what more, that all these resources had to be squandered on King Kwame’s is the crime. Watch for the race card to be played constantly.
Man, it’s so much more than that. He took money from the Police Dept. to pay for his wife’s Lincoln Navigator…..twice. There was a stripper murdered at the Mayors mansion during a party. The mayor was charged with conspiring to fire a couple of police officers for blowing the whistle. He claimed he had nothing to do with it. The text messages were to his Chief of Staff and proved that he, in fact, was directly involved with the firing of the officers. The fact that he was sleeping with his Chief of Staff is nothing compared to everything else this clown has done…..and I could keep going. He’s going to do the Dem thing and try to turn this into something that was “private”

Obey the law = Law-abiding.
Break the law = Outlaw.
Break the law for personal, political, or sexual aggrandizement and you become a major “player” in the Democrat Party grab-bag of “viable” candidates.
These Motown outlaws should not be held up to the same moral standards as the rest of us…if you don’t play by the rules, why should you be held accountable to those same rules? Isn’t that what one blogger inferred recently, regarding Democrat Party membership?
There should be no charges filed, nor penalties paid by these two. Let the electorate pay the price. It was they who readily believe that a lie is not a lie, sexual misconduct while in office, is NOT misconduct between consenting adults, and tax dollars are not an issue when protecting the “vision” of the oppressed.
Kwame is nothing more than a future national leader for the Democrat Party. The shame he and Christine Betty will suffer is fleeting, at best. All they need do, is lend their approval for ONE publicly popular issue, and all will be forgiven. MLK, WJC, JFK, RFK, Teddy K., The “Reverend” Jackson, Gavin Newsome, and others I can’t recall at the moment, are the historic pioneers of Democrat “Party” culture, and have suffered no ill affect from their sexual indiscretions.

The general population live by the rule of law, they have a police force for protection, prosecuters to put them away, courts and prisons. twiggman your #33 post is spot on what the law dictates but the institutions mentioned still use their color fist admissions policy. Yes, they discriminated based on color. An average black application takes president over white Valedictorians. That may not qualify as being an anus but certainly qualifies as brainless.

It’s a lot more than that including obstruction of justice. Remember they gave Cheney’s scooter the booter with time and chains for obstruction of justice. Why isn’t the MSM crying for the same? Oh I forgot Plame was a media darling.
Kwame will probably drag this case out for years and eventually appeal to the Supreme Court. Since our Supreme Court has been quoting European law in some of their rulings, how long will it be before they adopt Italy’s ruling that perjury is OK if you are lying about an affair?
So, in Italy it’s now OK to lie in court to protect honor that you don’t have. It doesn’t seem to matter to Italian courts that such lying could end up convicting an innocent person or freeing someone who is guilty. What if it’s a murder case? How long before it’s OK to kill to protect your honour? It seems that Italy is on a slipper slope to legalizing honour killings and we will likely follow in their footsteps if we continue to appoint liberal judges.

I grew up summers camping on Lake Michigan in the Manistee National Forest. Far, far away from the corrupt politicians that the “Typical black person” keeps voting into office in the once great city of Detroit.

The wife and I contemplated a move out West, Wyoming. I would love to get away from manufacturing and particularly automotive manufacturing. All of our family lives here though. Parents, brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews. My wifes’ sister lives the furthest away…Chelsea (about 25 minutes) Tough to leave that behind….

This case is not about an affair. This case is about total and complete corruption of a mayor, his staff, city attorneys, and command structure of the police department.
Capsule of the story- Mayor holds party at mayor’s mansion (Manoogian mansion). A couple of strippers are performing when mayors wife shows up. She blows up and smacks stripper with a “wooden object”. Stripper shows up dead 2 days later with 17 bullet holes in her from a common 40 caliber police load. Fast forward to internal affairs investigation of mayors 9 person security force. Investigating officers and deputy chief of internal affairs summarily fired. They sue for wrongful termination. The cops lawyer somehow finds out that the mayor and his chief of staff have city issued text pagers. Under oath both the mayor and his chief of staff deny discussing termination of the officers and also deny have a sexual relationship. The text messages were kept by Skytel which the cops lawyer has subpoenaed. The text messages show that both the mayor and chief of staff were lying on both counts. Outside the court room the cops lawyer informs mayor’s counsel that he is filing a motion to introduce text messages. Mayor’s attorneys quickly offer out of court settlement of 8.4 million of the city’s money with a confidentiality agreement to keep deal secret. Court asks mayor’s attorney if a secret agreement exists he denies it in court. Cops attorney let’s slip that there is an agreement. Multiple courts order documents released to Detroit Free Press under FOIA act.
Fast forward to day- County prosecutor lays 8 charges on the mayor and 7 on his chief of staff. Mayor’s lawyer claims selective prosecution and “poisoned” evidence used in prosecution.
More to come. The 14,000 text messages purported to hold a treasure trove of illegal and unethical conduct including bid rigging and further corruption in the Police Department
Background: The Mayor has already tried to play the race card. It is getting some traction but with 92% Black council, 85% Black population, and a Black prosecutor it is hard sell. Pretty much all these people are Democrats so the rascally Republicans are not being mentioned at all. Stay tuned- this story is unfolding as an episode of the Sopranos meet Cedric the Entertainer.
BTW- Kwame is the son of Carolyn Cheeks Kilpatrick- D- Michigan, head of the Congressional Black Caucus.

Rush has figured it out. Liberals have no set of standards, no morals, no code of conduct that they hold themselves to or anyone else to (unless of course it’s someone on the right). The problem is that in mediaspeek the word “Rebpublican” = “bad” and “Democrat” = “good.” Therefore, ergo, ipso facto, the word “Democrat” cannot appear next to the name of someone doing something bad.
Why…if they began using the word “Democrat” to label people who had done things that society considers “bad,” readers might get confused about the meaning of the word. And we can’t have that.

The signs of Kilpatrick’s comeuppance were plain as day in 2001. He’s wanted to be mayor since the age of 9 (I wonder if he’s related to Obama). He saw himself as a modern-day King David and ran for mayor because he “decided to do what God wants….” His favorite movie in 2001 was The Godfather because he connected with the struggles of the mob families in their “intense planning and strategy” to keep their power. Finally, the Kilpatrick Family vanity license plate clearly had set the goal: “2 DA TOP.”
Undoubtedly Kilpatrick is a registered Democrat, however, his is a nonpartisan office as are many local offices in SE Michigan.
