Maryland lawmaker/pastor cheers Jeremiah Wright: He “spoke the truth”

By Michelle Malkin  •  March 24, 2008 11:07 AM

Baltimore blogger Jeff Quinton has the lowdown on the Easter Sunday sermon of Maryland state delegate Emmett Burns Jr.

The Examiner reports:

The controversy over presidential candidate Barack Obama’s former pastor hit home in Baltimore County when Del. Emmett Burns Jr. told his congregation the Rev. Jeremiah Wright “spoke the truth.”

“His major infraction and infringement on the American ideals were the harsh words Jeremiah Wright used,” Burns, pastor at Rising Sun First Baptist Church in Woodlawn, told about 200 people from the pulpit Easter Sunday.

“Yet he spoke the truth.”

Burns lured the media to his pulpit for his Wright-wing endorsement:

Burns, D-Baltimore County, invited the area’s news media to his church, saying he planned to address the controversy.

Burns said Wright’s comments, while profane, were “providential” because they gave America the opportunity to examine its race relations.

The lawmaker said many white churches have a “priestly” tradition — in which ministers deal with the everyday needs of their congregation — while black churches have a “prophetic” tradition, prompting preachers to speak out against racism and war.

“It is only the prophetic tradition that has brought about social, economic, political and educational change in our nation,” Burns said, as the church burst into applause.

No word on whether anyone was holding one of those San Francisco signs.

Whatever you have to tell yourself…is Jesus black too?

This is asinine. “Examine race relations” the problem with race relations is that people like you see everything in black versus white. And I am sick and tired of hearing from successful black leaders that life as a black person today is rough. Or how difficult it is to pull oneself up by their bootstraps and get a life. Praytell, how do people who don’t evern try to change their station in life know it is difficult if they haven’t even tried. And so what if it is difficult(!), nothing worth having is going to be given to you. Enough with the socioeconomic statuses of black people. Those who want help, help themselves. I can’t help you if everytime I throw you a rope to help you out of the hole, you deny the rope and ask for a shovel.

Obama is going to rescue black people from their low place on the totem pole… if you believe that, well, you are just plain nuts.

MD has become a sewer of Democratic corruption and it is not surprising to hear the likes of “Rev-Delegate-Democrat” illegal recipient of church funds Burns spewing forth this kind of donkey vomit. Between the Mayor of Baltimore and the Governor of the state, it cannot be more of a demonstration of failed Democratic politics in the USA and the establishment of plantation slave voters. It’s a very unfortunate situation. I abhor what these so-called men of God are doing not only to the people in their respective churches but also to the image of what churches are suppose to represent. These black church leaders will get a pass as Dems dare not trample on one of their pet causes. However, if this were a true Christian church whose pastor or reverend were spouting hatred like this, well, we don’t have ponder to long about what would happen. So, yes – everyone who continues to be members of churches whose preaching does not align with the Bible are fools. Be they the black or white people who Obama claims to be members of his racist church.

If there is any institutionalized racism (or, at the very least bigotry) in America, it’s a preference for black folks (and sometimes latinos), and being against everyone else (especially white folks).

The problem for blacks (and sometimes latinos) is that when they actually GET what they ask for, it cannot ever be enough because in order for anyone to be happy, it requires them to get off of their backsides and actually doing something for themselves. Therefore, the become enraged because they aren’t happy.

The message has got to be made out there to the “Reverend” Wright-brainwashed folks out there that sitting around and waiting for “repairations” and otherwise apologies for slavery and other bad things won’t ever be enough. Barack Obama becoming president isn’t going to be enough. The only thing ANYONE can do to be happy and fulfilled is to get off of your bum and do something for yourself.

Wright’s message is 180 degrees opposite of what Christianity is. Christianity teaches faith, perserverence, and love. Wrightology teaches hate, blame, and more hate. God himself can’t make these people happy if all they want is misery and blaming others for their own personal failures. Being angry and misery is easy. Being happy actually takes some effort.

Nor should you have to. “Race relations” in this country aren’t going to further evolve in any event until blacks take Bill Cosby’s advice and undertake a serious self-examination of why “sub” is no idle prefix before their “culture.”

What’s so tragically ironic about the situation is that if I really was a cracker-style racist, bent on keeping the black man down, I could do no better than to impose from the outside “leaders” like the ones they have chosen for themselves: people who impede the path to true equality through lies, bogus rationalizations and preying upon the negative emotions of those who follow.

An officer of the old Japanese Imperial Army, who was questioned once about the usefulness of exercises that often required the troops to spend several days without rest, replied: “The already know how to sleep. They need training in how to stay awake.”

Similarly, today’s black subculture already knows how to hold a century-plus old, self-defeating grudge: what they need to learn is how to let it go.

    Its called a double standard.

I agree with most of the posts so far, that if this had been a conservative church mentioning anything about politics, then the aclu, and “americans for the seperation of church and state” would have already been there protesting.

As TWM, I am not accepting any guilt for what happened over 100 years or the death of mlk for that matter. If blacks want to complain-go back to your motherland and seek reparations from then that sold your ancestors into slavery.

At the time, slavery was an acceptable form of commerce and America changed (partly in thanks to the cotton gin and other automatic devices) to keep up with the times. No diffrent than corn, pigs or cows.

The sad thing is that we have slavery going on in the 21st century that is being practiced by blacks on blacks and not a peep from black America denouncing it.

I am tired of being lectured about race, it is beyond time that the black victorcrats stop lecturing and start listening to the views of other ethnic groups. Whites, latinos, asians, and etc have valid points of view that unfortunately the victocrats won’t ever hear because it doesn’t fit with their viewpoint.

If people are wondering why white-heterosexual males are angry just consider that we are tired of being blamed for every sort of injustice in this country. Tired of not being selected for jobs that we are qualified for, tired of struggling to finance our college education while black/latino & women have their own schlarships and none for white males. We are tired of being lectured to in that we are perceived as being nothing more than closet bigots and that we should “Shut-up white boy!” Tired of the racial sterotypes that only white males can be racist and allow other ethnic groups a freepass for their racial bigotry in school, church and work.

So until I refuse to teach a CPR/First Aid class, etc that has blacks in it-then and only then can BHO, and the other race hustlers lecture me and then drag my sorry Jewish-white-heterosexual-cra**er-a** back in for a diversity seminar on racism.

We have people, in the country, such as pastors (ex: Wright) and politicians (Ex: Jackson, Sharpton, Obama) who know that in order to keep making money and having power, the races must continue to be divided, with class envy. That’s all what this is about; getting the people to blame all problems on long ago slavery and discrimmination. As long as they continue to spout this philosophy, they remain in the news and “in the money”. I hear today that Michelle Obama was complaining about not affording her daughter’s piano lessons. Yes, it must be rough on a $480K a year salary. And, you want my sympathy? Obama, now, is the African-American candidate, not a candidate with abilities to be President. At least, that’s what people view him today. Until the day comes when such trash is finally “thrown out”, it will continue, with the help of the MSM, and blacks looking to fault someone else, rather than themselves, for the failure of their communities, their schools, and their politicians.

And Obama still clings to him. Have we gone collectively insane? Give the presidency to a man with such ties as Obama has with Wright? I have known forever that ‘affirmative action’ was nothing but a separate, low set of standards for primarily blacks. While always low, these standards have never been so low as they are today. Go Wright, go Obama, to whatever country you think is better. At least Cleaver and H. Rap Brown had the decency to do that much.
