As a veteran of another war in another lifetime forgive me for not wanting to watch this one unfold over and over again on a small screen in front of me. What does bother me, and should bother everyone else as well is the protraction of Iraq. I’ll illustrate it this way:

We’ve recently been told about Sen. Kennedy’s cancer. What if he told the Dr.’s to remove only a small portion and leave the rest for later. He says, “I think I’ll take a little at a time and go back for more later. And, ho, if you find anything that looks like a healthy cell mixed in with the cancerous mass I want you to take your time, cut around it and leave alone.” How do you suppose the Dr.’s would react? How do you suppose his body would react? Financially, do you think the insurance companies would have anything to say about it? What about his friends, family, constituents, what would they think of such an idea? Just a thought.

Can somebody pass the ketchup please?

...and I love that US paratrooper's quote:

"Hopefully they'll grow some balls and just bound on us and try to overrun us, but they don't want to die that quickly."

I wonder how many democrats, who claim that US forces are damaged and "stretched thin," know that when the opposition comes out and pops their head up, they're dead.

Hey this documentary looks really good. And I learned a new term today.

Danger Close: in artillery and naval gunfire support, information in a call for fire to indicate that friendly forces are within 600 meters of the target.

I had family in the 1st Infantry Division in WW II, and was always told that the Division's motto was "Danger Forward," coined from a sign, hastily erected on Normandy Beach the day of the invasion.
