Dakine, I was just pointing out history. If you read the decisions made after "Brown" you would see that it was negated. Affirmative action negated it totally. "Brown" stated no racial discrimination. "Green" and "Keyes" stated that it was okay to have racial discrimination, based on affirmative action. Sorry, just stating facts...certainly not supporting them. SCOTUS is well known in our history to flip-flop whenever it suits them.

Olympian, I doubt the 6th will go Dem. I live there. No way. You discount that the GOPhas a few very good candidates lined up for this district, and no Dem will ever match enough of the conservative character of the voters here. I mean Focus on the Family (whom I dislike) is HQ here, its that much on the Right side of things.

The only way the GOP loses this district is to put a bad candidate up there. And fortunately, unlike the State GOP country club leadership up there in Denver who gave us candidates like Beauprez, Coors, and in the 7th CD O'Donnell, we here in the 6th do not do that.

What I wonder is how the Gay Millionaires Club led by jack*ss Jared Polis up in Boulder will try to smear this Amendment - they have been very active in funding anti-conservative and anti-GOP smear campaigns through 527's the past 3 election cycles.

Read it for what it is. No Discrimination.

To re-use a liberal slogan...

Tell the Government: No means NO.

There are several cases reviewed by the SCOTUS which negated such rulings as Brown vs the Board of Education, such as 1968 Green vs New Kent County, Keyes vs School District 1 (Denver). Affirmative action got into businesses too, with Griggs vs Duke Power Co. (1971). Last famous one was 1996, US vs Virginia (VMI). Several rulings insisted that "reverse discrimination" was mandatory, in businesses and schools. Hopefully, this initiative will begin to show that this is all wrong. It will probably end up in SCOTUS again.

Dismayed to hear that Tancredo is retiring.

Big thumbs up for the initiative.

Is it not interesting that some minority groups, including virtually every Asian group, have done very well here despite - in some cases - discrimination and a slavery history (Chinese railroad workers). As Shakespeare said, the fault is not in our stars but in ourselves. If only more blacks and other groups would help themselves instead of maintaining a non-competitive don't-be-too-white entitlement subculture.

This initiative has a chance of passing here in Colorado with a Hillary nomination for the Democrats. That is the only way there will be enough enthusiasm to get a significant number of conservatives to the polls for pushing a measure like this across the finish line. There is no enthusiasm FOR McCain here.

If Barack Obama is the Democratic nominee this initiative will go down in flames, as will Republican Marilyn Musgrave in the 4th Congressional district and the Wayne Allard (he's retiring) Senate seat will go to Democrat Mark Udall. The Obama coattail effect will be significant here in this state because of the enthusiasm FOR him.

If the Democrats nominate the right candidate for the Tom Tancredo (he's retiring too) 6th Congressional district seat they might even pull an upset there because of the Obama effect.

Local conservative talk show hosts like Jon Caldara of 850am KOA helped get the word out over the air in order to get enough signatures for this. BTW, Jon has a blog that he started a few months ago called 'The Cauldron', <a href="http://caldara.i2i.org/" rel="nofollow">here</a>.

Lefties are nefarious and well funded in Colorado. Thanks to places like Aspen, and Teluride, which are populated with extremely wealthy liberals. They will pull out all the stops to defeat any conservative attempts to bring about <strong>"real"</strong> change.... Should be a good fight!
