The NYT covers Hillary’s admission of “misspeaking” yesterday in Philly:
As part of her argument that she has the best experience and instincts to deal with a sudden crisis as president, Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton recently offered a vivid description of having to run across a tarmac to avoid sniper fire after landing in Bosnia as first lady in 1996.
Yet on Monday, Mrs. Clinton admitted that she “misspoke” about the episode — a concession that came after CBS News showed footage of her walking calmly across the tarmac with her daughter, Chelsea, and being greeted by dignitaries and a child.
The backpedaling was a rare instance of Mrs. Clinton’s acknowledging an error, and she did so on a sensitive issue: She has cited her “strength and experience” since the start of the presidential race, framing her 80 trips abroad as first lady as preparation for dealing with foreign affairs as president. That argument was behind her campaign’s “red phone” commercial, which cast her as best able to handle a crisis.
Mrs. Clinton corrected herself at a meeting with the Philadelphia Daily News editorial board; she did not explain why she had misspoken, but only admitted it and then offered a less dramatic description.
Mrs. Clinton said she had been told “that we had to land a certain way and move quickly because of the threat of sniper fire,” not that actual shots were being fired.
“So I misspoke,” she said.

Yes, we understand that people have bad memories. Yes, we are reconciled to the fact that politicians often have conveniently bad memories. But Hillary has an excellent memory, and furthermore she wasn’t lying. This kind of tall tale cut from whole cloth is the special realm of the Clintons, and it is an indication of a dangerously deluded mind. When Hillary recounted her great escape, she believed every word of it.

Democrats are certainly showing everyone that they are one messed up party. They have a “storyteller” inexperienced socialist on one side, and a radical inexperienced “African-American”, running on race, on the other side. If I was a democrat, with some sort of common sense, I’d be throwing up my hands in disgust, and walking away.

Like I said at HotAir, Tell Rush to dust off his old Hilary gag with the “Try To Remember” song background! Hasn’t Hilary testified over 200 times in congressional hearings that she doesn’t “recall” or “remember” events. That was over a decade ago; now she is recalling events that didn’t happen. Is she really all that competent? That’s why I can’t stand either Clinton, because they lie so easily.

What continues to concern me about Hillary, Bill, and Chelsea is that they never own up to their lies. They never simply admit “I lied”. Never. Not once. They always put a spin on their lies. They misspoke. Define sex. Etc. etc. etc. And they expect us to trust them? That’s an outrageous demand on their part.
Hillary lied.
She does it and doesn’t even blink.
Bill lied but remained President.
Hillary expects that lying is a pre-requisite for the Presidency.

Silly-Hilly had a “kerry”moment.
35 years of experience is a pretty large lie, especially in light of the fact that when she’s challenged to prove it, she comes up with these ridiculous stories and is now covering it up with statements about misspeaking and having said a million things that day.
Her campaign is built on the premise that as President Clinton’s wife, his experience is somehow also transferable to her. Any Democrat that believes that voting for H. Clinton means you’re getting B. Clinton is sadly fooling only themselves. President Clinton, at least, had charisma going for him.
The thread is not about “who is worse”. Too much focus (admittedly on both sides) is about proving that the other is worse as a diversionary tactic. Why must the argument always be about being the lesser of the evils? If you believe in Hillary, why can you not defend her without immediately looking for someone you can define as worse? That is redirection no matter how you choose to color it.
Hillary Clinton’s real experience is as a junior NY senator. Does her record there justify her running to lead the entire country? If she were not married to the 42nd President, would she have had the opportunity?
The impact to this country is that she has no appreciable experience in leading and what little she finds to prove her so-called experience seems to unravel under inspection.
If Obama were not the choice of the MSM, CBS would never have challenged her with the video.But this is fun, though cannot Photoshop at work…especially since I have to run past snipers to get to the break room.
The only one running on the tarmac was Bill, and he was shouting “Lookie there, a fat girl!” (OK, I made that up.)

This morning I saw some of Sliccary’s defenders on FOX including some airhead Hollywood actress (something? Tom) and a female attorney who’s name I missed. Boy can they spin. Their best defense of her is that it “was 12 years ago and, ya know, memories sometimes change and get out of hand and people forget”. By the way, that “vacation” as you call it was meant to show her “experience” as needed to run the country. It is her inflated/fabricated “baptism of fire” meant to compare with McCain’s wartime experience, and show that she can “hit the ground running (and dodging snipers, apparently) and Obama can’t.

This is one of the consequences of having a too long Presidental campaign. Two years now? Sooner or later, every candidate, no matter how good, is going to “step in the crap” and leave footprints where ever they go. Both Clinton and Obama are too inexperienced to survive a lenghty race; not with the baggage they carry. The democrats look like they’re imploding. Perhaps by convention time, 5 months from now, a “dark horse” candidate will come out. The two they have now are falling apart. Even McCain can fall by the wayside, over time, with the record he has. We don’t have anyone running for President that has the quality of a chief executive; certainly nothing the democrats are offering. Maybe it’s too much to hope for…2 “dark horse” candidates, one from each party.

He certainly denied it in 2002. I don’t know what he might have said earlier. Whatever he might have said, nobody would have thought him a source of good intelligence about the Iraqi military.
Now step into the wayback machine to just before the invasion of Iraq. Hans Blix and David Kay have been combing Iraq for months (years?) and have found nothing. Bush insists that Saddam has WMDs and that US intelligence knows exactly where they are. Those claims seem to have been deliberate mis-statements on the part of Bush rather than “intelligence failures”.

The UN voted how many? 17 resolutions and the last vote was 15-0 ! That is almost unheard of at the UN. Our house and senate authorized “any force necessary”.
