Fitna has arrived; Update: “Restraint?” We’ll see; Plus: A case of mistaken identity

Readers are sending the Liveleak English version of Geert Wilders’ Fitna, which has just been posted. (Be patient, may be a little slow to load.) It’s 15 minutes with scenes of jihad interlaced with quotes from the Koran. We are reminded of 9/11, Madrid, the murder of Theo van Gogh, and the threats to Ayaan Hirsi Ali’s life.

The film ends not with any blasphemous image of Mohammed, but with an image of a hand about to tear out the murderous verses of the Koran and a sound effect of tearing (with a caption explaining that the sound was actually the sound of a page being torn from a phonebook).

Prepare for more March Madness. I don’t know what “solidarity” is in Dutch, but show it by embedding the video, e-mailing it, and writing about it. Their fight for the right to criticize the Religion of Perpetual Outrage is our fight.

Update: Some have been able to upload “Fitna” to YouTube; it’s been yanked in some places, hidden behind the 18-or-older wall in others.

Update: There is supposedly “restraint” and anger following the release of “Fitna.” We’ll see how “restrained” the Religion of Perpetual Outrage is after the mosques let out tomorrow:

In a short statement delivered both in Dutch and in English, Mr Balkende said the Government “regrets” that Wilders released his 17-minute movie on the internet, as he had been vowing to do.

“We believe it serves no purpose other than to offend,” he said.

“But feeling offended must never be used as an excuse for aggression and threats.”

The Prime Minister said the Government felt heartened “by the initial restrained reaction by Dutch Muslim organisations”.

In initial reactions, those organisations seemed relieved that Wilders’ film – which mixed violent images of terror attacks with Koranic texts – were not as bad as expected.

Update: D’oh.

I have not heard of ONE. In fact, all we hear out the Muslims who are lucky enough to live freely among us is “Don’t blame us” whenever there is another act of barbarism. But I never hear any condemnation of those “few” bad people.

Unfortunately, they don’t realize that in the hundreds of years it’s taken to make Christianity less *strict* (which by the way was done by it’s own members) the same amount of time has shown no changes in Islam, or even shows it becoming even more fanatical and hateful than 1000 years ago.

In between all my anger at Islam and those who support it, is pity for those people who support it thinking it will get better. They are in for a rude awakening.

According to Klein Verzet, Geert Wilders is asking for financial support for FITNA’s distribution:

That’s might not be something Wilders has realized when he made his initial plans for Fitna. And as it now has become a global hype with a global audience, this means he now needs money to pay for the global distribution. It’s hard to say how much money he needs for the distribution for his film. It all depends on how many people are going to view it and how the Film will be distributed. But even if it’s possible to release Fitna with the help of video providers like Youtube or Liveleak, it will still cost quite some money only to have a website announcing it. After the release many millions will directly want to visit the website and thus the website needs expensive dedicated and high-performance hardware to serve those many millions of people. This will not come cheap.
If Geert Wilders doesn’t decide against advertisements on the Fitna website, he has however a good opportunity to cover a part of the cost. Adding some Adsense advertisements and/or Amazon affiliate advertisements is quite easy and will at least earn him thousand dollars per million visitors.
Cost will however rise astronomically if Fitna can’t be distributed with the help of video services like Youtube or Liveleak. To show a video stream of 15 minutes to millions of people will result in many hundreds of terabytes of traffic. Bumping Fitna’s release cost in the hundreds of thousands of dollars.
Let’s make sure Fitna will get released and be easily accessible to everybody. Please do a small donation in support of freedom of speech

I am glad Wilders made this. The MSM has “covered up” most of the atrocities committed by the Islamists such as the beheadings. I have long felt that if more people saw these things happening they won’t be so quick to defend them.

But its like the anecdote about the frog in boiling water, they came in our countries and caught us “relaxing” in the warm cozy water.

Exactly. You have to understand the Socalist food chain, muslims are at the top, and can thus do anything to anyone else.

From the perspective of the socialist utopian, what matters more than Women’s rights or Gay Righs are the rights of a designated culture. The dogma of multiculturalism trumps the dogma of women’s superiority. This is probably because for the socialist utopian, might makes right and the needs of the many always outweigh the needs of the few–and the few better remember that fact, or else. In the socialist utopia, there is no room for individuality or personal preference; or tolerance for differences. You always must subsume yourself to the collective; and the bigger the collective, the more ~~power~~ victimization can be exploited.

For example, we know from experience that blacks, women and gays lose their cherished victim status if they dare to become Republicans; and, to a lesser extent, if they choose to be Christian (except for most Episcopalians, who have seen the secular light).

Being black trumps being a woman or gay (i.e., there is more “social justice” mileage to be squeezed out of the oppression of blacks, i.e., racism, than there is from the oppression of women (sexism) or even gays (homophobia). Just ask Jesse Jackson or Al Sharpton.

What a pathetic response by the Dutch government to Wilders’ film. What happened to the Netherlands? The contagion of liberal/socialist permissiveness and a live and let live attitude will destroy this country.

I visited the Netherlands 10 years ago and was absolutely shocked by their permissive approach toward pot. You can get marijuana at any coffee shop. Prostitution (as long as you get a license) is immediately accessible (along with pot) in Amsterdam where I visited. Being of Dutch ancestry, this is not the kind of “traditions” I’m proud of.

This statement really reveals how truly fearful the government is of Muslim extremists (especially the home grown variety). It would really be too bad to offend them… let’s protect their rights while vilifying a film the government may never have seen. What about the concern for ever more liberal immigration laws in both the Netherlands and the EU? Or would they rather cater to dissaffected minority groups at the expense of the native population at large? It would seem Muslim extremist appologism and being a cultural oasis for anything that feels good (as long as you don’t question it) are what the government of the Netherlands and even many Dutch people seem to be concerned about nowadays.
