Al Gore, Pat Robertson, and Al Sharpton on a beach

By Michelle Malkin  •  March 28, 2008 06:52 PM

Oh, dear Lord. Prepare for a massive blast of hot air about hot air:

The Rev. Al Sharpton and Pat Robertson are sitting on a couch and in walks Al Gore.

This isn’t a joke.

It’s the plot of a new commercial in the former vice president’s fight against global warming.

And it was filmed at the 57th Street beach Wednesday.

Gore and his nonprofit agency, the Alliance for Climate Protection, are pitting odd couplings – think Sharpton and Robertson – in a series of public-service announcements to draw attention to the environment. The $300 million campaign is expected to launch next week, CBS News reported. Gore talks up his views in a “60 Minutes” interview set to air Sunday.

The global issue got local Wednesday as a film crew set up scaffolding, lighting equipment and a tan leather couch on the strand, not far from the waves.

A witness said Sharpton, the grandiose civil rights voice in New York, sat on the left.

Robertson, the conservative preacher and Regent University founder, was on the right.

“It was like ‘The Twilight Zone’ seeing them sitting on the couch,” said Bill Kelly, a special events coordinator in the city’s resort office. “And then around the corner comes Al Gore.”

The public-service announcement – apparently Gore was directing – is meant to show that people who don’t agree on much can still agree that the environment is important.

CBS reported other pairings will include Toby Keith and the Dixie Chicks and Nancy Pelosi and Newt Gingrich.

No mention of this, I’m sure. Or this. Or this.

Increasingly, GOP elites are giving in to the Gore cult and abandoning the scientific process and scientific integrity for political expediency.

Those who are doing battle against the global warming alarmists are getting yanked off YouTube.

John McCain is on the eco-bandwagon.

And the enviro-nitwit-ization of the GOP is nearly complete.

Yes, the planet is indeed in peril.

I never said I supported the Iraq invasion, but I support the troops.” -The Roanoke Times (Virginia), October 26, 2006

“Now the difference between me and Sean Penn is that I’ve talked to 50 generals,” Keith writes. “I doubt he’s even talked to one. I didn’t support the war in Iraq and still don’t, but I’m sure I know more about it than he does.” -The Washington Post, June 12, 2007

The truth is considerably more complex. Keith, who brings his road show to SPAC on Saturday, is a patriot, and he’s done multiple tours of the war zone to entertain the troops. But after the late Peter Jennings supposedly vetoed the placement of “Courtesy of the Red, White and Blue” on a post-Sept. 11 TV special, Keith ended up as a hero for people who might not have known him very well. “The right side was, like, here’s our poster boy,” Keith said. “He’s our champion. We want you on Fox! We support you. Why can’t you sing your song, Buddy? They get in there, and they pick you up and you ride it for a little bit, and the next thing you go, `Whoa! Whoa! Whoa! I ain’t about this Iraq war now. My song was written just for Afghanistan. I’ll argue about Afghanistan with anybody, because in my opinion I’m a guy for justice.’” “It’s easy to get drawn in to that political deal,” Keith lamented. “The right side, once they found out I was a Democrat, then I come under attack for being a Democrat.

I’m going, `Hey, far right, hey, far left — wait a moment. Why can’t I just support my troops and say we should go to Afghanistan and get the people responsible for 9/11 and let that be it?”-The Times Union (Albany, New York), August 23, 2007

    Still think it’s crap, Rooster?

You are right: “dumping toxic gases into the atmosphere, polluting our oceans and fresh water resources, or using up the world’s supply of fossil fuels in the span of a couple centuries” is not a good thing. And no one said it was, but concocting a problem out of whole cloth and getting scores of ignoramuses and the “hate America” crowd to run around and scream “the sky is falling” is not the way to deal with it.

You have to ask yourself and all the greenhouse gasbags one big question: what is the “correct” climate for this planet? Do you know? Has anyone addressed that problem? The fact is, this planet has been hotter and wetter for millions of years. We have swung from warm ages to ice ages and back repeatedly, all without the help of SUVs and American industries.

Did you know that during the last interglacial period, the average sea level was approximately 6 meters (about 18 FEET higher than it was now (http://esp.cr.usgs.gov/info/lite/)? That was roughly 125 thousand years ago. And the Gore licking clowns are getting their sphincters all puckered up over recent sea level increases of then the 1990 to 2100 rise would range from 280 to 340 millimeters. At 254 mm/inch, that is an increase of (are you sitting down?) an inch to maybe an inch and a half! Quick! Build an ark!

Please don’t let people that couldn’t get more than Cs and Ds in science dictate what you think about this. There is likely more effects on so called global warming from the sun and other natural effects that what we do.

Frankly, rather than beat up the U.S. for cleaning up “only” 90% of our emissions, we should sell our technology to emerging economies, which would to more to clean the atmosphere, oceans and land than trillions of dollars spent to get us from 90% clean to 92% clean.

Gore is a scientific neophyte that is only profiteering over his newfound notoriety.

Too bad for Gore that notoriety does not equal expertise or knowledge. A con man yes, scientist no. I daresay never.

We (meaning users of the sewage system) need to fix this.

It’s completely insane to chase climate change when you can catch real environmental impacts that are measurable and pose a real threat. Infrastructure is what we should be worried about.

We’re going to start paying carbon taxes chasing something that’s going to prove not to be true, to people who aren’t going to use it the way they claim they will, and in the end we’ll just end up poorer and unable to use our own resources to survive.

The radical environmentalists, his worshipers, use him and global warming as a means to denounce capitalism, establish socialism, and change the U.S. to what they want, with them in control, of course. 10 centuries ago, we had major “global warming” occur, and everyone, and everything, did just fine. Agriculture boomed, famines ceased, exploration took off. The polar bears did not die off. Animals didn’t go extinct. And, the U.S., Europe and Asia didn’t drown in 20 feet of water. Northern England even had vinyards because of the warmth. Streets there are still named after the local vinyards. Plus, farmers did farm in GREENland. Then we had “global cooling”. Famines came, and the River Thames froze over every winter, enough to support businesses on the ice. The only bad part of global warming was the ease of infectious disease transmission. All of this shows that the planet flucuates in climate constantly. We humans, in our superiority complex, seem to, once again, believe that we control the solar system. Only people fostering that idea is the politicians looking for a cause to keep themselves in the news.

That’s the whole problem. If you see yourself as nothing more than a burden to the planet, you really should just kill yourself and do the world a favor. It is a harsh thing to say, but all I’m doing is taking that line of reasoning to the inevitable conclusion.

The fact is, human life is never a waste and it is something to be greatly celebrated. All those nasty fumes and waste coming from power plants make your life a lot safer and comfortable. All those “food miles” incurred by your shopping ensure that you are free to focus your time on what you want to do as your days are not spent growing/producing your own food.

The day you reduce the value of human life to the amount of carbon units it produces is the day you stop valuing human life.

Huggybear: This is exactly the logical conclusion of humans are only a bunch of random protoplasm that is here merely by chance.
On the other hand, is a soundly scientific, historically backed up belief system that GOD created the universe, made the earth and told humans to have dominion over it. In the latter view, humans feel privileged to be here, but certainly not guilty. Consistent with that view is that God put enough “resources” in the earth for humans to use and enjoy.
I’m not sure if you are aware of this, the “experts” have been telling us the earth is 10 years away from running out of oil. Only problem is – they have been saying that for over 50 years. It is somewhat telling – the “experts” have no idea how much resources God put in the earth. Note: This does not give humans a license to abuse the planet or waste resources – but rather a license to use and enjoy them.
If you consider all the knowledge of humans combined, when this is contrasted against all possible knowledge you realize mankind knows very little.
So – please reconsider, acknowledge your creator, be thankful for life, and investigate how you might come to know your creator and be found in his favor.

I heard on the radio yesterday that here in my hometown, the National Council of Churches (liberals) and the local ecumenical organization (liberals) are organizing a “pray for the earth” day. There is no question in my mind GW is a new pagan religion (read Al’s book – Earth In The Balance – He’s a pantheistic pagan) along with evolution.
The churches have truly lost their way and their mission.

I’m not sure if you are aware of this, the “experts” have been telling us the earth is 10 years away from running out of oil. Only problem is – they have been saying that for over 50 years.

I remember during the Arab oil embargo of the early ’70’s, the “experts” were saying we’d be out of oil before the turn of the century. Wrong. These same experts warned us about global cooling (new ice age), acid rain and the hole in the ozone. What do you hear about those things now days?
As the Psalmist said, some put their faith in horses and chariots. I put mine in the Lord God.
Dont fall for the liberal guilt you are destroying the planet by your very existence. Somebody bigger than the “experts” is in control. Btw – you know the definition of an expert dont you? “X” is an unknown quantity, “spert” is a drip under pressure. So you’re hearing from a lot of unknown drips under pressure.

“Al Gore could care less about global warming. That’s just the excuse. He’s desperate to establish some sort of legacy for himself, and keep himself in the “limelight” for whatever politics will hand him in the future. The only real cause, he champions, is himself.”

I fully agree, Graysonret, and what’s more, I think history will regard Al Gore as one of the greatest hucksters of all times for having both propagated and perpetuated one of the most disputable and disprovable frauds imaginable on the more susceptible members of mankind.

Increasingly, GOP elites are giving in to the Gore cult and abandoning the scientific process and scientific integrity for political expediency.

Every time a Republican does not come right out and combat the barbaric superstition of liberal savages (ice caps will melt if we don’t appease Gaia), he is contributing to the spread of false knowledge.

Newt Gingrich has become a total sellout. I was disappointed with his speech this year at CPAC. If he cannot come out and combat this misinformation about global warming, then he should not self-appoint himself leader of conservative movement.

The same “logic” Next uses about being open to global warming for political purposes is the same “logic” open borders Republicans use: Pandering to mob misinformation.

I like what Cardinal Pell of Australia states about global warming hysteria:

He called those who make claims about ice caps melting and ocean levels rising spectacularly “doomsdayers” and “scaremongers.”

He also called to account journalists who have called for Nuremberg-style trials for global warming skeptics and who have compared skeptics with “Holocaust deniers.” The media during the last 100 years, he also noted, has flip-flopped between promoting fears of a coming Ice Age and fears of global warming.

I remember when we were allowed to burn our own trash and yard debri.

Those days are long since over.

GORE is making mega bucks by spewing a lie.

Of course we have pollution….always have and always will.

I worry more about the contributions of illegals……..most have third world habits as I have seen first hand.

Now there’s a reason for concern.

I imagine GORE laughs all the way to the bank. “Those fools……..!!!”

You bring up several excellent points:

If Gore actually believed the pap he spews, ho would “walk the walk.” Instead, he routinely flies around in jets and SUVs, and lives in house that cosumes more energy than a small town.

Secondly, it would be interesting to calculate how much energy and resources illegals consume while being here, how much trash they generate, how many emissions they produce.

What exactly is the carbon footprint of an illegal invader?

Gore reminds me of the hucksters from the late 19th century…traveling around in wagons selling the magical cure all to man’s health problems and a few others if you weren’t positive as to what all was wrong with you. “Snake Oil Salesman” they were called.
What a farce…a fraud and snake oil salesman he is.

This is America and he and the tarts have free speech but, there is a consequence to be paid for taking stupid positions. When you show shocking ignorance and totally defy logic be ready to have your ass called on it.

Gore and his Man-Bear-Pig. The politicians on board with this scam must be simply out of their minds.
For one thing, there’s plenty of oil, we just need to drill for it and refine it. Also expand nuclear, wind, hydro, sun and hemp fuel.

Can’t anybody talk some sense into McCain and Obama about how temperatures rise first, and THEN carbon-dioxide levels rise.
Carbon-dioxide doesn’t cause warming, sun activity does, warming causes CO2 levels to rise.
