MoveOn: Stop Fox News from taking over the world!
They really do live on a different planet:
About 22 demonstrators gathered outside the ABC News building in Washington, D.C., on Thursday to deliver a petition reportedly bearing 200,000 signatures of people who agree that “FOX News is a Republican mouthpiece” and that networks, including ABC News, should stop “parroting” the Fox News Channel’s talking points.
MoveOn.org, a liberal political activism group, sponsored the demonstration and said in a press release that the petitions were delivered to major networks around the country, including CBS and CNN.
The demonstrators told Cybercast News Service that the Fox News Channel is “not a real news organization.” Nonetheless, they said, major news networks use Fox, a cable station, as a source for talking points.
“We are here to say, please, at the end of this election year, engage in responsible journalism and don’t parrot Fox News,” Adam Greene, director of strategic campaigns for MoveOn, told Cybercast News Service.
“We say Fox should not be setting the agenda for what is news in this country,” Deepa Domansky, a regional coordinator for MoveOn, told Cybercast News Service.
“Fox News is taking us away from issues that are really pressing and creating a sense that we shouldn’t be focusing on these issues but should be more focused on tabloid issues. We know that Fox News is not a legitimate news organization. It is a Republican mouthpiece. Yet the rest of the media is taking its talking points from Fox,” Domansky added.

BWAAHAHAHAHAH!!!!
“Too late, moonbats.”
Cue Murdoch’s evil laugh during fade out…….
Moonbats

Nutcases
Likes farts in a whirlwind, Moveon will dissipate quickly.
And if we get Obambi or Hillbilly as president, you can be assured they’ll get that “fairness doctrine” passed.
I guess these people can’t stand anyone who actually shows the “other” side of the story…meaning, after years and years of liberal monopoly in the news media, they can’t handle anyone who actually disagrees with their liberal lefty nutbag agenda.
Oh my God. Don’t these trustfund goons have anything better to do?
A few years ago I was filling my tank up at the PX Gas station at Schofield. In drives this chick with green hair and a “Stop Fox News” bumpersticker on her car. She had a DOD sticker and I asked her if she believed in free speech and of course she said “yes”. So then I asked her why so mad about Fox News? She launched into a tirade about her husband serving my a$$ in the Army. I told her I served when she was in her crib and that my husband does as well. He started out with a red sticker on his car once upon a time and mine was always red during my career. She then drove off without her gas cap and the others all laughed at her. This one guy said something about not understanding these people who claim to be all for free speech but want to censor those they don’t agree with.
But that’s the moonbats and trolls for you.
Never mind that there are plenty of liberal commentators and guests on Fox. The objective, I guess, is to stamp out any forum at all for Republican/conservative viewpoints…
more tolerance & diversity from the progressive Left….
I am looking forward to the day that George Soros is worm food.
Don’t underestimate nutbattery, meatpie. When you think they just can’t get any crazier, well, they’re about to get still yet more crazier. Rinse and repeat.
I’m sure someone will correct me if I’m wrong, but doesn’t Rupert Murdoch give more money to democrat candidates (e.g., hillary) than Republican candidates?
I wonder what they have to say about CBS or the L.A times being real news organizations?
move on found the plans.. we’ll have to flood their home offices with the poison gas sooner than we thought..
MoveOn must create an enemy where none exists. They have been influential in getting the Dems to refuse to debate on the channel, quite a few of the Dem presidential candidates will not appear on Fox unless backed into a corner and they do have the ear of the rest of the media. MoveOn has more influence on the Mass Market Media then a Britney Spears crotch shot.
Do not discount this group, there is more to them then taking out full page ads in the NY Times to smear a general. I can’t wait to see what they have waiting for McCain when the Democrat candidate is decided on.
And exactly how is that Fox News controls their talking points?
Does Fox have the same management? Not that I know of.
Does Fox own their stock? Not that I know of.
Does Fox threaten them? Only “commercially” as far as I’m aware.
Does it occur to the protesters that the market (as in “the viewers”) might be speaking?
Oh – sorry, socialism doesn’t want “the market” to speak.
Only the “elite” are allowed to speak.
They’re onto us! Members of the Vat Right Wing Conspiracy assemble!!!
Interesting statement. How does one set the agenda for what is news? I would think things happen and some things get reported and some do not. Most good news (Great things happening in Iraq for example) do not get reported. It is choice as to what gets reported and FOX seems to get it done better.
The Big Three had free reign and blew it. Dan Rather is a disgrace. BABA WAWA and her “The View” is a total disgrace. Olbydork is a clown and has won his own award more than any other person on the planet. Chrissie Matthews is incoherent.
FOX News is not perfect. BO is a pinhead. The morning news is going tabloid. Overall, they are still better than anything going. Taking over the world – hardly. There is not a single liberal in my office who will watch FOX news. They love to bash it. FOX News will never win over the liberals. What are they so afraid of?
That comment is way out of line, Ron. Those worms have never done anything to you!!
Have they ever been to the US State Department, any airport, many publilc buildings, restaurants: CNN mostly. These people need to be sent to Arnold the terminator.
Maybe I should read The Huffington Post or something — a source for real news.
/sarc
What crybabies! Seriously, this shows how intolerant and scary the Left actually is.
1) Fox News is ONE cable news outlet that gets only a fraction of the viewers that ABC, NBC, CBS, CNN, and MSNBC (altogether) get. Yet, they cannot tolerate that there is the OPTION to get well-balanced news and not socialist propaganda.
2) Fox IS well-balanced. This is what bothers liberals so much. They have political analysts from all sides. On Hannity and Colmes, you get a liberal and a conservative coming up with and asking questions.
3) Fox News has high production standards and much better looking and smarter anchors, making liberals envious.
4) ABC, NBC, and CBS are so provincial and backwards. No wonder liberals like them so much. Before the Gulf War, they used to have at most 1 minute of world news. Now the only world news they have is about Iraq. They get no news from around the world and are narrow-mindedly focused on putting down the United States.
No wonder they hate Fox News.
This is their objective.
They do this because Fox is successful. They do this because they can not stand the fact that others are exposing their lies and reporting on news stories truthfully, that conservative commentators are stating their opinions, and they can’t do anything about it.
So they try to silence them, and us as well.
22 WHOLE demonstrators?
a true show of farce.
fox sucks, too. they’re only slightly better than others.
they spew irrelevant sensationalism just like the rest of them… they just take shots at both parties.
When you support a losing cause you strike out at whatever is there. Similar to the Democratic Party.
Heh. What is funny to me about this is that their approach in trying to get other networks to listen to them is to insult them by saying they are nothing more than mouthpieces to Fox News.
200K signatures and they could only get a group of 22 to go? How many of that 22 were children they dragged along?
It isn’t that they hate FOX so much- it’s just that don’t like being proven wrong and laughed at.
After all, Moveon knows what is right and good for us, and we are to stupid to decide for ourselves.
And…..FOX is not hateful like the MSM.
Now’s the time to use Geraldo.
What’s their problem? I see nothing at all wrong with Conservatives taking over the world. Then forcing left-wing, looney Liberals into “re-education” camps where they are forced to look at nude photos of Rosey ODonnell and Roseanne Barr until they go stark raving nuts or rip their own eyes out.
Sounds like a perfect world to me. What do y’all think?
You’ve gone too far, tre. This is indeed boyond cruel and inhuman punishment.
Besides, there’s about 10% of liberals who would actually enjoy that.
Interesting, while reading this thread I mentally substituted MSNBC where the phrase Fox News appeared. Wonder what Move On would say then. They really need to take their opinions and stuff them where only a colonoscope could find them.
DaveC @ #13, the main reason I come to this site is for the laughs at comments like yours and RaisedRight’s (yesterday) about the Denny’s menu. Too funny.
Which nobody can deny.
Showing an out of context 20 second clip of Reverend Wright continuously for weeks. Pretend Iraq doesn’t exist (unless its a feel good good news interview rather than a statistic).
Hey lgm, you had no problem with the 20 second Rodney King video continuously played for weeks, right?
Every time I think the left has gotten as stupid as it can, it outdoes itself and shows us their stupidity knows no bounds.
I would like them to please explain the rampant liberal bias of CBS, CNN, NBC MSNBC, the print media and the majority of radio. It is astounding that these “tolerant” free speech loving liberals cannot abide FOX News which actually allows conservatives to voice their opinions.
How many of 200K signatures are from the ACORN files of voters?
i have always been a news junkie even as a child, i remember when fox first started.
it was a breath of fresh air to see a more human and 2 sided approach to the news.
Would someone please send lgm a compass. The poor boy is lost.
Yeah, yeah, yeah and ABC, CBS, NBC, CNN and MSNBC are the media wing of the Democrat Party….so what move-on? all of the initials above and they cannot compete with FOX….funny….the market decides idiots not you.
On March 28th, 2008 at 11:36 am, lgm said:
So who’s denying it? And what does it matter anyway? If your tender leftist sensibilities are so offended by the opposing viewpoints/in context reporting of FNC, don’t watch it!
The Democrat mouth-pieces of abc, nbc, cbs, pmsnbc, cnbc, cnn, and headline news at your disposal – and from what I hear, they need all the viewers they can still manage to get.
From what i’ve seen from the nonfox news stations, if they are getting their talking points from FOX, they must be slanting before reporting.
So imagine how far left the MSM will be when they stop taking thier lead from FOX. Course they’ll just report faux news they pick up from the AP. /sarc
Get real! Out of context?!! you’re so messed up it’s not even funny anymore.
So lgm, I take it that you watch FoxNews. Otherwise you are just repeating what you have heard. I am pretty sure that you are watching FoxNews though, as you spend all your time on rightwing websites. That’s a good little boy.
I guess that 40+ years of a monopoly on all media outlets just isn’t enough for the Liberals…
So what?
Seriously, so what if Fox News chooses to only cover stories of interest to conservatives or the Republican party? So what if they choose to have only conservative commentators (which they don’t, but so what if they did)?
Last time I looked, there was no fairness doctrine, and there was still this little thing called the First Amendment.
It’s not like MSNBC isn’t a mouthpiece for the Democrat party. Nobody can deny that. Same for CBS. Same for the NYT.
Again, so what?
Conservatives didn’t have hissy fits about AirAmerica and demand that it be taken off the air immediately.
Liberals complain constantly about Limbaugh. It’s actually laughable to listen to liberals right now about Limbaugh. On the one hand, they claim – constantly – that he’s irrelevant, he’s passe, his time is over, he has no influence anymore. Then they turn right around and have conniption fits about how he’s corrupting the election process, he’s just too influential.
Get over it libs. This is America. People can hold any opinion they like, and as long as they don’t yell “fire” in a crowded theatre (or the equivalent) then they are completely within their rights and the law. And it doesn’t matter if they do it in the middle of the local town square, or if they own and operate a radio or tv station.
So, Fox News is a Republican mouthpiece?
Again, I say –
SO WHAT?
I smell desperation.
While we’re talking about FNC, does anyone know if Page Hopkins is still working there? I haven’t seen her in weeks.
I like Ainsley Earhart, her replacement on F&F Weekend, but she doesn’t have Page’s ability to mix it up with the other hosts and some of the guests, especially during one of their F&B debate segments.
wow zorro you must have one heck of a sniffer to be able to smell through the stupid.
[q]Pretend Iraq doesn’t exist (unless its a feel good good news interview rather than a statistic).[/q]
So I guess all Iraq is to you is a statistic? You make me sick.
Damn that free speech! I don’t see them demonstrating in front of NBC (the mouthpiece for Democrats and the loonie left). They whine about talk radio, but don’t mention Air America. What a bunch of hypocrites.
Ironically, FOX is the only network that gives liberals and conservatives equal time. The other networks are totally in the tank for liberals.
The real problem is that FOX is eating their(other networks)lunch. They can’t compete because nobody wants to watch their “doom and gloom”/”hate America” broadcasts.
I love it when liberals are besides themselves with the Constitution. The Founders were brilliant!
Does this imply that you agree with Moveon’s approach and stance? Do you believe that other networks are taking their talking points from Fox?
or is this just more redirection?
“Adam Greene, Deepa Domansky, report to urinalysis.”
I do understand this at all. I used to be left a long time ago and right now I am the conservative among liberals.
What the heck is wrong with Fox? They have differing points of view on the shows. I am addicted to it! I think they tell it like it is, in fact, I think they are more truthful than other outlets.
Probably why leftists hate them because they tell the truth. Sheesh.
How about this for a bumper sticker:
“Don’t Like FoxNews? Change The Channel!”
True. Liberals are supposed to be setting the news agenda for this country. I think it is even in the constitution. If not, I’m sure some liberal judge can show how that was the intention of the founding fathers.
I concur fully with BlameAmericaLast in #5 above. If the left ever gets enough votes in Congress (i.e., either a filibuster-proof or veto-proof majority), they’ll bring the “Fairness” Doctrine back in a heartbeat.
Scratch a “liberal,” and you’ll find a totalitarian underneath.
Voltaire said of free expression, “I may disagree with what you say, but will defend to the death your right to say it.”
Today’s MoveOn types say, “I may disagree with what you say, and will fight to your death to deprive you of not just the right but even the ability to say it.”
Lefties have such delicate psyches that the mere presence of a “diverse” point of view triggers in them a response that most people would reserve for existential threats. Thus note, for example, MoveOn’s desire not only to extinguish the message of FOX News, but to kill the messenger as well.
And that’s not the end, but the beginning. This totalitarian impulse is why attempts to achieve Leftist Utopias always end up with slave societies, proscription lists, purge trials, mass murder and a reign of terror.
Yet would it surprise anyone to see the same people who would silence FNC decrying the loss of civil liberties and decline of civil discourse in “George Bush’s Amerika?”
Damn you Alan Colmes!!!
[/sarc-off]
FOX NEWS always has a fair and balanced debate. The democratic and republican side of things is always represented unlike other networks.I do however watch Lou Dobbs every night on CNN but that’s the only time I watch CNN.
Fox news broke into the cable network about ten years ago. It was and still is about the only place besides this blog and some others where one can get The Truth. The NYT has been communist since the 1920s. CNN, MSNBC are blatantly biased and Democratic.
Preface: I am a leftist democrat (not an extremist MoveOn liberal though).
I completely disagree with MoveOn’s stance on this and tend to agree with points made earlier that if you don’t like FNC, change the channel.
Secondly, I applaud those right-wing commentors here that acknowledge that FNC is somewhat of a Republican mouthpiece. If that is what you want to watch, then so be it, that is your choice. What scares me, though, are the commentors such as gabe, PTN39, and to a lesser extent orlandocajun, who believe that FNC is truely Fair and Balanced.
Censorship is the answer for all viewpoints that you do not agree with.
Burn any good books lately MoveOn?
MoveOn.Oink…the American Jihadi movement…working to destroy America from within. Rich liberals funding liberal automatons, twisting our freedoms into weapons for liberalism, combating the notion that the many speak for the few.
Look some of these main players’ heritage…Huffington, Soros, and the KOS…Greek bloodlines. Two are immigrants who have obtained the “American Dream”, and are so full of guilt from their achievements, they want to pay it back in the form of socialism, and anarchy. The third relies on free speech to spread his brand of hatred, and class envy.
Greece…the birthplace of Democracy? Go figure.
the other side…. studies show otherwise with fox on top as the most fair……
but, whatever… it is all about choice and everyone has freedom to click.
Duh- does not the print media take its lead from the Paper of Record, Pinch’s Grey Lady NY Times?
Like the man said beat the bad news to death and essentially ignore any good news. Opinion is presented as fact. Our government stands by as NY Slimes reveals national secrets. Oops, I mean our State Dept. and CIA gives secrets out to Times in retaliation for having a Republican boss as POTUS.
Tell me what, if anything, McCain might do about a disloyal State and CIA? Or is it more congenialty toward true scum like fatboy Kennedy?
What happened to stopping the war? When you don’t get results, just move onto the next thing. That way no one can ever say you failed.
30 – why do you think they named it move-on?
I keep saying this, but neuron-depleted trolls like lgm never seem to “get it”.
If Fox News is a GOP mouthpiece, then why do the following liberal journalists and Dem political operatives appear on it routinely, as interviewees, contributors, hosts, and guest hosts: Geraldo, Greta, Chris Wallace, Susan Estrich, David Corn, Katrina vanden Heuvel, Alan Colmes, Ellis Hennican, Ed Rendell, Bob Beckel, Juan Williams, Mara Liasson, Jane Hall, Neil Gabler, Revrund Al, Charlie Rangel, Joe Biden, Chuck Schumer, etc etc etc etc.?
Have they sold their souls to Rupert and Rove?
Or have they secretly been GOP operatives all along, part of a hidden Limbaugh campaign called Operation Rolling Chaos??
As for lgm’s canard about Fox never showing anything about Iraq unless it’s good news, I guess he missed the in-depth report YESTERDAY about Sadr’s militia’s attacks in the Green Zone and their uprising in Basra. Yeah, there was a lot of Fox happy talk about that, lgm.
Snork!
22 demonstrators? Is this a slow newsday or what? Put them all on a bus and see how empty it looks.
As to lgms comments on the short video and sound clips of the anti-christ Jeremiah Wright, did you get a load of the picture of his 1.6 million dollar retirement home. Looks like America did right by Jeremiah Wright even though this country is satan’s home turf according to him.
Now you stop being so damn judgemental! /sarc
So, are they going to go picked CNN for being a “liberal mouthpiece”. Probably not, since that is okay with them.
*rolls eyes*
So says “The Other Side”.
I wonder if he’s as scared of those who think The Major networks, CNN and MSNBC are more “Fair and Balanced” than Fox News.
I freakin doubt it.
But if he does then let him produce a list of all the conservatives who host, appear regularly as contributors, etc. on those networks news and opinion programs.
TOS:
To me, your statement here is typical of the way that liberals view Fox News.
I’m about as conservative as they come, and I will grant you that in their most visible “opinion” show, yes, Fox leans conservative. No question about that.
However, let’s step back and separate news reporting from “opinion” shows and commentary. In their news reporting, any objective look will tell anybody that their news reporting is without question the closest thing we have to unbiased toward either side. They take pains – in their news reporting – to remain as neutral as possible.
Let’s take it a step further. On Brit Hume’s news show – yes, the one that goes up against the “network” talking heads – the first half is nothing but news reporting. The second half is opinion/commentary. What separates Hume’s show from all others is the fact that his panel always, ALWAYS, includes commenters from both left and right, and it always is a calm and rational debate about the days issues.
You can question all day long the choice of stories that are reported on. Heck, I would question the stories that CNN, CBS, et.al., choose to report on. But on Fox, the news reporting, unlike on the other outlets is free from the bias and commentary that infests all the others.
As for their commentary – well, O’Reilly, despite his protestations that he’s “independent” is mostly conservative and a little libertarian. Hannity and Colmes are really Mutt and Jeff. Both hosts are really characatures of conservative and liberal, and quite frankly I have a hard time taking either of them seriously. Greta Van Susteren is, most likely, a liberal, but she really lets her Scientologist side shine through and she’s so caught up in the tabloid stuff that she doesn’t really matter.
As for their news “hosts” during the day and on weekends, you’re going to find a liberal Shepard Smith for every conservative John Gibson. But mostly, they are just there to transition from story to story.
Really, it all boils down to this: In their news reporting, Fox is most probably the closest thing we have to unbiased reporting of the news today. In the case of their commentary, their most visible, highest ratings-getter is Bill O’Reilly – the conservative/libertarian.
It’s really O’Reilly that gets the libs all in a lather and makes them pronounce Fox news to be such a conservative mouthpiece. After all, he’s really probably the only exposure most libs have to Fox News.
And by the way, TOS:
You might find those of us on the right a little less hesitant to admit that Fox News just might lean a little right if those of you on the left would admit that most of the rest of the broadcast media (CNN, CBS, NBS, MSNBC, PBS, NPR, etc.) just might lean a little to the left.
Shoot. Just admitting that even ONE of the above is left-leaning would be a start.
You willing to make that admission, TOS?
I wish Fox WAS taking over the world. Then there’d be a better selection of television available. No matter the ages, Fox News has much more mature and intellectual talking heads then any other cable or network news organizations. Listening to a simpering Couric interviewing Dems or the jackass olbermann ranting about Bill is enough to maintain a Fox allegiance.
governmentdrone,
Well stated argument – even though I have minor disagreements with some of your points. And I freely admit that most of the other broadcasts lean to the left. I find that the only way to truly get fair and balanced news is by watching multiple sources. That’s why I watch FOX, CNN, and NBC and visit blogs on both sides.
That said I stand by my statement that those who believe Fox News is truly Fair and Balanced scare me.
And yet, when someone wants to REALLY KNOW what’s going on in the world, he turns to Fox News.
I hate sitting at the airport and having to hear the clowns of CNN over and over again with their slanted reporting.
Fox, giving ‘em a dose of their own medicine.
and bring your corkscrews!!
TOS;
Much as I hate to admit it, you do have a point. FOX is not fair and balanced. In a study, which I will provide a link to in a moment, they actually scored to the right of the US voter. Neither, however, are CNN, NBC, MSNBC, ABC fair and balanced. And the less said about CBS the better.
I’m glad to hear (well, read actually) that you admitted that the bulk of US media is liberal (or left-leaning.) They are, but they’re too self-deluded to admit it.
Remember that study I said I’d provide a link to? Here it is. Enjoy.
Oh, and remember what the NYT guy said about having no agenda.
WARNING: Put down your beverages before reading the study.
Bloody. The link didn’t make it. My fault. Sorry!
Here it is: http://newsroom.ucla.edu/portal/ucla/Media-Bias-Is-Real-Finds-UCLA-6664.aspx
ROTFLMAO!
Here’s lgm’s new theme song (sung to the tune of, “For He’s a Jolly Good Fellow”):
“Fo-o-o-o-o-x News is a Republican Mouthpiece.
Fox News is a Republican Mouthpiece.
Fox News is a Republican Mouth-PIEEECE.
Which Nobody Can Deny.
Which Nobody Can Deny!
Which Nobody Can Deny!
Fox News is a Republican Mouthpiece.
Which Nobody Can Deny!”
*
Entropy40,
I am familiar with that study as I’ve done a lot of personal research on the matter. Although I don’t completely disregard it, I have some issues with it. Please take a look at their questionable methodology they used. It basically calculated a bias by correlating a news organzation’s mention of a particular think tank with the ADA score of a member of Congress who mentioned the same think tank on the floor.
Here’s another interesting study.
Speaking of Fox, where is John Gibson?
Love the song Vickisoup!
Otherside, you scare me. You think that the msm which you admit leans left is wonderful. I guess you don’t watch H & C and have to listen non-stop to old Alan and Greta & Shep are no rightwingers either. The Judge doesn’t like anything about the Patriot Act or President Bush but if you think that people who say Fox is more balanced than your friends on the other stations is scary to you, you need to see more horror movies.
So what it is moveon and the rest of the libs are so afraid of…a glimpse of the truth maybe?
Tks lgm, i needed a good laugh before my doc’s appointment.
terrig, i wrote Fox asked where J. Gibson has gone…they said The Big Story has been indefinitely replaced with the election program crap. i’m down to Cavuto’s World and Bret Hume till the 3 libs start hashing out their bs from Washinton at 40 after the hour. Yeah, i’d say Fox is right wing, drove this conservative away.
John is on the radio i’m sure you know…streaming also.
Thanks Right, I forgot that he was streaming on the radio. I miss old Gibby, not a fan of pretty boy Hemmer or that Barbie doll they got on with him. I love Cavuto and Brit Hume as well. I have been watching Fox less and less as well. I’m sorry old Gibby was put out to pasture, maybe we can hope that when the election is over, he’ll be back? But that might frighten TOS who must not have a lot going on in his/her life to be so scared of people who think Fox is more fair and balanced than the leftwing news outlets.
np terrig, Fox wasn’t definite if he would be back, too damn bad he and Hannity were the only out spoken righties on Fox. Hume is conservative but pretty much keeps it too himself.
Fox had gone left on us over the last few years…like the rest of the country.
I’m befuddled by the left wingers…they have a lib for president, there is liberal congress(21% approval), the MSM is liberal, college professors for the most part(90%) are liberal…remind me of the adage…they wouldn’t be happy if they were hung with a new rope…but that’s a lib for ya. They’d even have the tax payers buy the rope and they wouldn’t be happy.
terrig,
Please show me where I claimed that the msm was wonderful. Please show me where I said I was scared of people who thought Fox News is more fair and balanced then the leftwing news outlets. Until you can, I’d appreciate less ad hominem attacks (see “who must not have a lot going on in his/her life”).
My exact quote was I am scared of those “who believe that FNC is truely Fair and Balanced”. Please note that I did not use the adjective more.
#18
Now that made my Friday!
I don’t watch Fox News all that much, but I visit their website daily, more than once. I find editorials from both sides there. That’s why I like it. I can get both sides. These left-wingers just can’t stand having a network that shows both sides. It has to be liberal socialism/communism or nothing, to them. Remember, people, liberals are emotion driven; not logic driven. That’s why you see them making fools of themselves in public, contradicting exactly what they support strongly…like free speech.
Even though the fairness doctrine doesn’t apply to Fox (they’re cable), they act as though it does (”fair and balanced”). This makes their broadcast look like actual news rather than Republican propaganda. I would have no trouble with a cable channel called “Republican message”. The name “Fox News” is false advertising.
TheOtherSide said:
Watch O’Reilly and Hannity/Colmes and they have a Democrat and Republican to debate every single issue. Those are the cornerstone shows of the network. Don’t you consider that balanced? I challenge anyone to name one conservative Olbermann has ever had on his show.
LGM, don’t you have children to indoctrinate?
Otherside-boy aren’t we touchy??? My, my you proclaimed to be a liberal and liberals always think they’re wonderful people and tolerant of everyone except Republicans and those who are pro-life. You probably don’t have a lot going on in your life if you think people who feel Fox is fair and balanced scares you.
Will you leftist clowns claiming Fox is hideously biased read this and STFU:
http://www.deadfishwrapper.com/node/115
Harvard Study Concludes Media Biased Towards Democrats (What a Surprise!)
“A study by the Project for Excellence in Journalism and Harvard’s Joan Shorenstein Center on the Press, Politics and Public Policy has found that the media coverage of the 2008 presidential campaign was more likely to be spun in a positive manner toward Democrats than Republicans.”
Money grafs re Fox News:
“The programming studied on Fox News offered a somewhat more positive picture of Republicans and more negative one of Democrats compared with other media outlets. Fox News stories about a Republican candidate were most likely to be neutral (47%, with the remainder more positive than negative (32% vs. 21% negative). The bulk of that positive coverage went to Giuliani (44% positive), while McCain still suffered from unflattering coverage (20% positive vs. 35% negative).
When it came to Democratic candidates, the picture [at Fox] was more negative. Again, neutral stories had a slight edge (39%), followed by 37% negative and 24% positive. And, in marked contrast from the rest of the media, coverage of Obama was twice as negative as positive: 32% negative vs. 16% positive and 52% neutral.
But any sense here that the [Fox] news channel was uniformly positive about Republicans or negative about Democrats is not manifest in the data.”
So: Fox leans a bit right, while the rest of the media leans left. But ONLY the former is a Bad Thing!
Moveon morons and others of their ilk also need to stop confusing NEWS with OPINION. For some reason they consider “opinion” unfair, UNLESS of course it is biased in their direction. Thus they will happily watch Keith O engage in snot-flinging rants about conservatives, anointing a lucky few with the title of “Worst Person in the World”. That’s just hunky dory. But when O’Reilly does his much milder “Pinheads and Patriots” thing, after having had a half dozen liberal spokemen on his program, the whacko left goes all “outraged” on us.
Well, millions of Americans are as disgusted with the “Party of Perpetual Outrage” as they are with the left’s soulmates in the “Religion of Perpetual Outrage”.
It is no accident that each group has attended its own kind of madrassa. Except in the US they are called “universities” and “schools of journalism”.

Excellent presentation…Those pesky facts are indeed troublesome for the loons on the left.
Kudos
lgm, let me throw one right down your alley. “Fox News” is no more false advertising than pro-choice is. Calling it a choice instead of murder is deceptive (false advertising). Fox News is no more false advertising than “free health care”. It ain’t free. Fox News is no more false advertising than “Reverend” Wright calling his church a christian church. Fox News is no more false advertising than you claiming to be a professor. Nobody here believes that for a second. I think I just called you a liar.
I should have added to my last message this final sentence:
“Or they could be unfortunate children subjected to lgm’s utter incoherence and illogic— in a math class, no less.
Free clue to lgm: since the misnamed “Fairness Doctrine” never applied to cable news, then it is MORONIC to assert that Fox falsely claims to adhere to its standards through its slogan “fair and balanced” — ESPECIALLY since the FD was done away with nearly 30 years ago!
Newspapers weren’t covered by the FD either. You go find me a newspaper that doesn’t PURPORT to be objective in its NEWS reportage.
Then, when you can’t, report back to me explaining why Fox News’s F&B slogan is “false advertising”. How about the NYT’s claim to be “the paper of record”? Is that a lie too?
BOTH claim they are objective, yet NEITHER was ever bound by the FD.
Get it? GET IT?
You are, sirrah, the Ralph Wiggum of this site.
And no, you aren’t “learnding” yet.
