I’ve lived in Hawaii for 20 years, located near South Point on the Big Island. I’ve about given up hope of ever seeing an effective Conservative-type get any kind of influence here. They continually reinstall the Inoyes, the Akakas, the Neil Abercrombies and now Maisie Herano.
They continually bemoan the corrupt Republicans that ran the place 40 years ago and can’t see that the ‘liberal’ corruption is just as corrupt now, if not more-so.
The answer is always more taxes… more regulation… until they change most smart business persons will stay away. If you run a business here, they get 1st dibs on any monies passing over your counter… Like it or else!

We don’t need a third party. A third party would only make Rinos feel better about themselves. The Rinos must be forced to assume their role as Democrats. The current “Republican” party must be obliterated and rebuilt according to proper conservative principles. How about the Abraham Lincoln Party? But how in the world would you do that? Maybe by encouraging Socialists do the same with the Democrats…… four parties, at least two of which would be clear on their principles. What we have now are panderers and the power -hungry who are “blown to and fro by every wind of doctrine.”

I don’t have a problem with Hawaiian natives and their political separatist movement. I can understand and appreciate their grievances of an invasion on their islands. . .

However, this idea is just asinine. Why does the D party need the OK to get the illegal donations that they need? Why is the R party willing to grant that permission? It’s so stupid it makes you wonder if in fact this rule is a defacto separatist movement from within the government there.

With this rule in place, and no opposition to it, it doesn’t seem as though there is a reason to vote anyway.

Hawaii is so nuts that even Dennis Kucinich and Ron Paul enjoy a significant following here. As far as secession, there will always be those, whether in Hawaii or in eccentric Vermont, that think they would better off under some other government’s oppressive umbrella. If not for the U.S., Hawaii would most certainly have become a Japanese colony, comfort women and all. For some reason, there is this false nostalgia for how good things once were, when native Hawaiians died in their 20’s from disease (no, not introduced by the white man) and other poor health habits. King Kamehameha slaughtered thousands in his conquest (oh, yeah, unification) of the islands. The so-called “illegal” annexation killed no one. Clinton the first exacerbated the problem with his nonsensical apology resolution, but it’s still a rather small group of vocal activists who hold onto the dream of something that never really existed.

That moron McCain is threatening to come to our Blue Angels air show at NAS Meridian, Ms on Sunday. If I can’t get close enough to him then, I will try on monday morning when he speaks in Meridian to tell him what I think of him.

I never thought I would think that Hillary would be the best candidate.
I can’t vote for any of these imbeciles.
We survived Bill, we can survive what our next moron in chief destroys for the next four years.

If we keep voting for them it only encourages them to think it is what we want.

It is becoming increasingly apparent that there is a higher purpose going on around us; to destroy BOTH parties.

First the true GOP and now the Democrats. This is what socialism wants…..ONE PARTY.

First you have to eliminate the enemies.

Seems to be the ONLY explanation why our government is falling apart.

To prevent this sort of shenanigans, the GOP/RNC needs to operate somewhat on the lines of the NFIB (one of the most effective lobby groups). The core of the NFIB effectiveness is it asks the rank and file it’s opinion (with pro and con written by the pro and con) on various topics and then, if it gets a high acceptance rate on an issue, it acts accordingly.

The GOP/RNC ought to take it’s lead on how much to support any R politican gets at election time according to how they rate against a GOP grass roots perspectives with a baseline bottom of 75% — not according to what the GOP leadership wants (because they’ve been brown-nosed to do so by this or that mucky muck)..

In other words, if you’ve got a 100% rating, you get 100% support (which you could share with others if you desire — but your support level would be adjusted by the rating of those you provide support to). If it’s 76%, you’d get 4% support (Rating-75=1*4). Or something like that.

It wouldn’t take long for the mucky mucks to get in line with the grass roots, not visa versa…
