Illegal, no. Judgemental and rash, yes.

How many politicians have said that OJ was guilty, or Clinton or Bush, or the prisoners at Gitmo?

Well, Bush gets blamed for a lot of things by the left. Haven’t heard politicians talk about OJ.

Gitmo? We’ll see what happens there.

A great deal of Congress’ immunity comes from the way that they write the laws. One of the first sections of the United States Code is “Applicability” To paraphrase, it says that US Code applies to all persons within the jurisdiction of the US except those people paid by the Congressional retirement fund. So they exempt themselves from the laws they create. That is why there is an Ethics Commitee. Us regular folks have Ethics Comittees too, they are called Juries.

Political Speech is protected and that is only right. However, intentional causing of harm (even harm to a reputation) for personal gain (Murtha’s gain, although political, was personal as politics is capital for a man in his position) is slander.

As some have said, there is no Federal Criminal Charge that he could be indicted on for this act. However, I think a Civil Claim filed in a state which actually supports the Military would be appropriate. I believe somewhere like North Carolina or Alabama would be perfect. I think a good Lawyer could probably ask for 50 Million and even if they didn’t win a cent, the national coverage the case would get (If we could convince the MSM not to cover it up) would be worth the money and time.

Only wish I had gone to law school..

C’mon American Legal Profession.. There must be someone out there looking to make a name for yourself. File the brief pro bono and do something good for your country for once.

I can only hope God grants me an opportunity to meet Murtha eye-to-eye someday so I can tell him to his face that he is a scum sucking pig and that he does not deserve the title “Marine.” I know it’s harsh but he deserves to be told.

Didn’t the Bush Administration (Attorney General) write a brief to be sent to help Murtha defend himself…saying he “Was protected becasue his political speech extends beyond the floor of the house”??

Just shows the lengths, Jorge Bush will go to help liberals but on the ame hand work to destroy Conservative ideology and the Republican Party in general.

To be called an “ex-marine” is about as low as you can get…having your comrades, turn their backs on you. But, Murtha doesn’t care. He’s in the Congress (power motivated) and has a voice, and money…which shows how low he has become. Ah, for the days when they used to strip your buttons off, break your sword, and turn you out….

I’m no Marine, but when I worked at Landstuhl as an Army liaison and a civilian(former Marine) was medevaced from down range, the Marine liaisons took care of him as if he were still an active duty Marine.

When I hear Marines say Murtha is an ex Marine, I sure ain’t gonna argue with a “Devil Dog”!

I don’t know if he was an officer or not, but I do know, if he was, you salute the “rank”, not the “person”. In my book, he would be rated an “ex-Marine”, but the rank still deserves its respect.
