Rev. Michael Pfleger and Rev. Jeremiah Wright together again: “Hallelujah!” Update: Rock star reception, video link added

God damn!

Well, isn’t this special?

Barack Obama’s former pastor, who canceled several public events after an uproar over his incendiary comments, surprised a Chicago congregation by attending an event to celebrate poet Maya Angelou’s birthday.

The Rev. Jeremiah Wright got a raucous standing ovation when he entered Saint Sabina church on the South Side on Friday night, video from WBBM-TV showed. Members yelled “Hallelujah!” as Wright embraced the Rev. Michael Pfleger, Saint Sabina’s pastor.

The smiling Wright accepted an invitation to give the benediction at the Roman Catholic church but did not address the furor over his past sermons. He also sang “Happy Birthday” to Angelou, whose birthday is April 4.

Afterward, he went into an office off the pulpit to greet audience members.

Here’s the video of the rock star reception Wright received at Pfleger’s church (hat tip - William Amos). And a warm-and-fuzzy screenshot from the event:

1bapfleg0041.jpg
Pfleger motions to his flock to give it up for Brother Wright.

Pfleger is, in the words of blogger Sultan Knish, “the white Jeremiah Wright”–another long-time Obama supporter endorser and angry, Farrakhan-defending, jihad-apologizing, Jew-basher who also once threatened to “snuff” out gun rights supporters in Chicago.

Here’s vid of one of Pfleger’s spit-flecked sermons/diatribes:

Here’s coverage of Farrakhan’s warmly-received visit to Pfleger’s church last year.

And the quid pro quo:

“It happens that there were major supporters in my district who had been supporters before they got member initiatives,” Obama said, noting that some of his contributors had been his allies for years.

One of those long-time supporters was Rev. Michael Pfleger, the politically active leader of St. Sabina Church. He gave Obama’s campaign $1,500 between 1995 and 2001, including $200 in April 2001, about three months after Obama announced $225,000 in grants to St. Sabina programs.

Pfleger said he made those donations personally, not on behalf of the church or to win grants.

“At a time when less people vote than ever, I don’t think pastors should be silent on politics,” Pfleger said.

Oh, don’t worry. You’re coming through loud and clear.

Here’s Rev. Pfleger’s endorsement featured on the Barack Obama campaign site:

It never fails to amaze me, that a class of people, who have been lied to, preached to, and hoodwinked for over forty years, can still believe the exaggerations being spewed by these purveyors of hate. When will they realize that this is NOT an issue that the preachers want fixed? Without the race, unfairness, “we po’ black folk” rhetoric, these human leaches would have no means of support.

How can the likes of Wright, Farrakhan, and others, have multimillion dollar homes, luxurious furnishings, and expensive cars, and continue to preach about “the poor man”, and the “inequity of living in a white man’s world,” and still have congregations?

Do the terms “fraud” or “charlatan” ring true here?

Jeremiah Wright is supposedly a Christian pastor who preaches the gospel given in the Bible, as is Pfleger. I have a direct response to his “How dare they” challenge:

    (Galatians 1:9 NAS95S)

In other words, God opposes distortions of his gospel in the strongest possible terms. How dare Wright and Pfleger teach a distorted version of the Gospel! When, not if, it comes down to a contest between Wright/Pfleger and God, Wright and Pfleger will lose. Guaranteed.

You can be quite sure that he does…it’s the white man’s fault for:

    1) Creating the need for drugs to help ease the pain of white domination;

    2) Creating the TV/Magazine/Radio ads that make po’ folks want what they can’t afford; class envy;

    3) Making guns so obtainable;

    4) Maintaining a welfare system that makes you wait in line for benefits, and that doesn’t give you enough to live (like the hard-working, tax paying, slave masters in charge of the program;)

    5) Creating an education system that is dynamically opposed to educating persons of color;

    and,

    6) Creating the impression that it is easier to get what you want by simply taking what you want from others, by force, than by actually working for it.

    Uh, what did I miss…?

Man, whatever happened to silent prayer? I suppose I could do a Christopher Hitchens’ number here and say, well, they’re all like that, with some slight stylistic differences. Unfortunately, a difference in degree can amount to a difference in kind. These guys, i.e. Wright and his friends (that means you, Mr. Obama), have turned Sunday morning services into Nuremberg rallies. That’s bad enough, but the parents who bring their children to this (that means you, Mr. Obama) are much worse. They deserve the strongest moral censure. It’s hate speech pure and vile and “progressives” (I’m ready to retire the term “liberal”) must be held accountable for it. Pfleger’s anti-gun stance is the strongest argument I’ve heard for owning all the guns you can possibly afford.

On a more positive note, in a way Mr. Obama deserves some back-handed praise for inadvertently “tearing the lid off hell and letting men see it” (using Rand’s phrase in a slightly different context). Let us see it for what it is, and I’m all for that.

Many of the fine people over at NRO are saying Obama is toast because of this stuff. While I would love to believe it, I’m far from certain that is the case. Mr. Obama has not tapped into a flowing stream of pure youthful idealism, but one of searing, volcanic, millennium-old hatred. Good luck controlling that, Barry.

This is accomplished by demonstrating Christ’s love in action; not by screaming about politics from some pulpit. In fact, Jesus had this to say about the likes of Wright, Pfleger, and others like them, from Matthew 12:34:

A lot of the “quiet” people would pull together to defend the country and have little tolerance for the Wrights, Reids, Fondas, and Kerrys. I agree that we have become too complacent with our own lives, secure behind, what we believe, as a strong government. I wasn’t aware that it needed any response because the meaning of that statement seemed clear to me. It wasn’t until I looked at some of the comments in Ms. Stanek’s column that I understood how some people are (deliberately?) misunderstanding what she wrote.

But Pfleger is a bold-faced liberal who clearly identifies with blacks more than God or his church.

Everyone holds private beliefs. Those beliefs can either agree with the Bible’s teachings or they may contradict the Bible. When those beliefs contradict with Biblical teachings, a true follower of God changes his beliefs to align with the Bible.

“All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness;”
    (2Timothy 3:16 NAS95S)

Note that the highlighted words indicate that Scripture is used to produce a change.

“And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect.”
    (Romans 12:2 NAS95S)

In Pfleger’s case, he chooses to stick to his own beliefs and disregard the Bible’s teachings. Specifically, Pfleger’s belief is in radical black racism, where a person’s righteousness depends on them being black, not on their obedience to the Bible. Anyone who would claim that Louis Farrakhan (a leader in a notably anti-christian religion) is more righteous than any Bible believing Christian who happens to not be black, is certainly not basing their judgement on Biblical teachings. In short, these so-called “Christian leaders” refuse to subject themselves to God’s teachings.

“For those who are according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who are according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit. For the mind set on the flesh is death, but the mind set on the Spirit is life and peace, because the mind set on the flesh is hostile toward God; for it does not subject itself to the law of God, for it is not even able to do so, and those who are in the flesh cannot please God.”
    (Romans 8:5-8 NAS95S)

In fact, compare the teachings of Wright and Pfleger to this passage:

“But now you also, put them all aside: anger, wrath, malice, slander, and abusive speech from your mouth. Do not lie to one another, since you laid aside the old self with its evil practices, and have put on the new self who is being renewed to a true knowledge according to the image of the One who created him— a renewal in which there is no distinction between Greek and Jew, circumcised and uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave and freeman, but Christ is all, and in all.

So, as those who have been chosen of God, holy and beloved, put on a heart of compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience; bearing with one another, and forgiving each other, whoever has a complaint against anyone; just as the Lord forgave you, so also should you. Beyond all these things put on love, which is the perfect bond of unity. Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body; and be thankful.”
    (Colossians 3:8-15 NAS95S)

Are these guys teaching love and unity with no distinctions under Christ? No they are not. In short, there is a conflict between their beliefs and the Bible, and they have tossed the Bible and gone their own way.

He’s found that greed and power is appealing, and has embraced it completely. This man needs to be assigned to a long retreat and read the Bible again.

First, it is important to note that “Father” Pflegar is NOT a Catholic. He is POSING as a Catholic but is really a Marxist liberation theologian, who doesn’t believe any of the basic tenets of the Catholic faith.

He is there to change the Catholic Church from the inside by posing as a Catholic–like all Marxists do.

Marxists in the Church are very clever. They attempt to hijack traditional Catholic language and give a Marxist meaning.

Clue that “Father” Phlegar is nothing but a Marxist clown on the road to hell: He supports PRO-ABORTION Obama for president.

I’m working on an M.A. in Catholic theology from Christendom College and know this for a fact: No Catholic in good conscience can vote for a pro-abortion politician (unless there is no choice, i.e. the choice between a pro-abortion Republican and a pro-abortion Democrat). There is no getting around this.

“Father” Pflegar is NOT a Catholic.

From my observations of liberal Democrat religious radicals there are anything but Christians. No wonder they have so much in common with the evil forces of islam.

We are ecstatic to see the racist America hating Reverend Wright emerging front and center for the public to view. The MSM may think they have accomplished their mission in running interference for their “chosen one,” but the next couple of Democrat primaries are going to be interesting to watch to see the demographic of who is voting for the lesser of the Democrat evils.

“Father” Pfleger is the left-wing answer to the infamous Father Coughlin, whose rabidly anti-Semitic radio show in the ’30s still gives lefties an excuse to bash Catholics today. Coughlin was eventually excommunicated, unlike this bozo. It illustrates perfectly what’s wrong with the Church in the U.S. and its leadership. There are many good individual parishes and great priests and nuns. But just as the Church failed to weed out pedophiles and pederdasts until the big lawsuits started coming, it has also failed to weed out the ones who are quite obviously apostates in other ways. There needs to be a strong leadership to clean house.

Due to extreme taxes required to pay for Democrats’ favorite social programs.

an ongoing war nobodyno Democrat knows what to do about

There fixed it for ya. Republicans do know what to do about it: WIN!

    a world that hates us

Have you listened to why they often hate us? Usually, it’s simply because we’re not under their control. Sometimes it’s simple jealousy. Sometimes it’s because our government doesn’t give them a luxury lifestyle. Sometimes it’s merely because we exist. And occasionally it’s because someone in our government did something wrong.

The last reason is the only one we can do anything about. Yet even when we do correct wrongs, those corrections are often overlooked by those who hate America and the wrongdoings blown FAR out of proportion to our actual actions.

The only solution to the other “reasons” (they’re really just excuses) is for the United States to cease to exist as a country. That is Simply. Not. An. Option. In other words, their hatred is beyond our control.

Plan B — win the election on hate.

Let me be clear on this. I (and most Republicans) HATE evil. I feel no reason to hide that fact. Terrorism is evil. Stripping the rewards from those who work and giving those rewards to those who refuse to work is evil. A government killing its own people to maintain power and for political expedience is evil. Racism is evil.

Do you have a problem with that?

hate of some of the people who Obama hangs out with hang out with.

When they engage in evil, why shouldn’t we hate what they do? Or do you suppose that their actions are somehow not evil simply because they support your chosen guru?

I think all your excuses are nuts, but I will argue with only one: Bush also doesn’t know how to win in Iraq. He only knows how to stay so that the eventual loss will be blamed on someone else.

I repeat: if the Republican record were strong they would run on it. Instead they blast the airwaves with something someone who knows Obama said in an emotional moment. They are trying to make Reverend Wright and Obama seem like something they are not.

Its lgm’s half of the world that’s hates us and frankly that suits me fine. Don’t tell me you don’t know what to do regarding Iraq you and the democrats are the islamists best friends I’m sure they would want you to keep doing what you have been doing. If democrats had got on board in the beginning instead of trying to surrender art every occasion we would be done right now. The trouble with your kind is you can’t stand it if someone dislikes you so you pander to any and all you are incapable of accomplishing anything as someone somewhere is bound to be offended. You stand for nothing except anger and resentment I think that is obvious as of late you all belong in a mental institution where you can’t hurt yourselves or others.

Why don’t you leftists just admit it you are scared that you might have to fight for yourself and you all are willing to toss everyone else under the bus to save your own pathetic rears. We are fighting a war against islamists you are fighting a war against oil and stuff that plants eat your going to be responsible for famines around the world. The price of grain is going through the roof just like oil and it is all you and the democrats fault and I’m going to make sure the hate that these people have is directed where it belongs, at you and yours. Are you aware of the price of oil on 9/10/01 how about now, the jihad has been expensive they have to compensate. Every time an American puts a 100$ into their tank they can blame at least 50 of it on you and yours.

You are all obstructionists who would rather sleep with your best friend’s wife than deal with the countries problems your spouses cant even trust you and you expect the rest of us to trust you? Every time you are allowed to make decisions someone somewhere dies as a result. Why don’t you leftists leave these poor people alone? The economy is in a shambles largely because of obstructionist leftist America haters mooching off of society and you know it. Scratch a failed institution in America and the dirty faces of leftists will appear it never fails its like the sun rising or the tide coming in, totally predictable. You put forward a fool and a racist and now you are angry well tough, if you and the democrats are that stupid there is probably no limit to what you can do to screw up America. We are not going to pay for your garbage any more the gravy train is over, we the people are going to demand that our hard earned tax dollars don’t go to ungrateful hateful people.

You know, you all have not changed one bit since the heyday of the clan, you have just become more diverse and inclusive in the people that you target with your anger and resentment. What have the democrats accomplished, well they managed to ban incandescent light bulbs one of the most dependable inventions we ever came up with. Replace them with mercury filled alternatives, thanks a lot, now when there is an earthquake I not only have the things related to that to deal with I will also have to deal with a toxic environment. Oh by the way if you think this is all there is in this mans 20 plus year history of hanging with people who’s only similarity seems to be an anti American in general and an anti white/nonwhite friends of whites attitude you are gravely mistaken.

I’ve run into my fair share of “strange” Catholic religious in my 44 years. Boomer, I remember at an airshow at NAS Oceana where a bunch of nuns tried to throw paint on a staic display but didn’t get too far. My SIL has an aunt who is a nun who regularly “protests” at Fort Benning, GA, (makes for lots of family fun when my side shows up for birthdays, christenings, etc.), and my all time favorite Sister Sara from my high school. She’s the one who told me I was an “imbecile” for joining the Army and said that “test tube babies” were the devil’s work. I even walked out of a church at the start of the war when I was at my parent’s home in FL and Fr. Paul Ruse (sp?) asked everyone to stand up who had family going to war (hubby was there) and then when we all did he said something about multiplying that by 1000 for all the innocent Iraqis that will be killed. I just walked out of the pew and told my parents I and my daughter would meet them in the car. My parents who were shocked at what was said by the priest got up and walked out too. By then there were about 20 others that left.
There are a few religious leaders who are crazy like this priest, Wright, Robertson but I think regardless of the religion, most religious people are generally good and want to help their flock and others.

Gabe’s Post #53 pretty much said it all for me.

Here’s what the Pope had to say about abortion and people who support it.

According to a Sky News report, when an Italian reporter pressed him on whether he agreed that Catholic legislators who voted to legalize abortion in Mexico City should rightfully be considered excommunicated, the Pope’s reply caused a furor that prompted the papal spokesman to try to downplay the pontiff’s response.

“’This excommunication,” Pope Benedict XVI said, “ was not arbitrary.” “There are provisions set in place by Canon law. The killing of an innocent life is simply not compatible with the communion taken in Christ’s name.”

So, I think that supporting a person who supports abortion is basically the same as supporting abortion itself.

Which means this ‘Father’ is in violation of Cannon Law by his vocal support of Obama. This is much worse than even a Catholic Politician who supports abortion. This man shouldn’t even be allowed to wear the Catholic vestments.

Pfleger said he made those donations personally, not on behalf of the church or to win grants.

I thought Catholic priests took a vow of poverty? Where did he get the money? If it came from church funds, revoke that parish’s tax exempt status NOW. If they truly came from him personally, then maybe the church should kick him out of the priesthood for violating his vows.
