So much for “restraint:” Kill Geert Wilders!

By Michelle Malkin  •  March 31, 2008 02:48 PM

1killg.jpg Allahpundit and Lawhawk note that Liveleak has restored “Fitna.” It’s symbolically a good move, but 1) They shouldn’t have taken it down in the first place and 2) thanks to the proliferation of video-sharing sites and the ubiquity of Torrent downloads, the restoration of the video on their site is sort of moot.

When the movie was released last week, I snorted at reports that Muslims were showing “restraint.” My snort-age was well-deserved, of course. Because “restraint” has given way to…new death threats. Natch. Goodbye, March Madness. Hello, April fires:

Outcry over a Dutch politician’s anti-Islam film continued Monday, with hard-line Muslims in Indonesia calling for the man’s death.

A group of about 40 demonstrators from the Islamic Defenders Front gathered outside the Dutch Embassy in Jakarta, some of them carrying placards saying “Kill Geert Wilders,” the film’s creator.

“It is a great insult to all Muslims,” said the group’s spokesman Soleh Mahmud, who admitted he has not seen the film but was outraged nonetheless.

“The Dutch government must arrest him. Wilders must be killed because he has declared war on Muslims.”

In neighbouring Malaysia, the Foreign Ministry described the film as disrespectful and insensitive, while the opposition Pan-Malaysian Islamic Party has sent a note to the Dutch Embassy, saying the movie would “invite vengeance” from Muslims if was not retracted.

The party urged Muslims “all over the world” to boycott Dutch products in protest, echoing a similar call by former Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad this weekend.

“We hope the protests by Muslims all around the world can be taken as our disapproval against any insult and attempts to deceive the world of the true picture of Islam,” the party’s youth leader, Salahuddin Ayub, said in a statement.

Just search Yahoo! News photos for “Wilders” for your gallery of effigy-burning rage boys.

It’s always something, isn’t it?

Meanwhile, where’s the Muslim outrage over this?

Allahpundit: “The only line left to cross is a cartoon series showing them how to build their own bombs. Either that or a “Land of the Lost” remake where “Cha-Ka” beheads infidels willy nilly.”

Excellent job at debunking the films accusation.

Will someone explain to me how they level death threats on a MP and not get arrested right there?

I wouldn’t pass judgment on them for taking it down. I don’t think they were prepared for just how intense the reaction would be and decided to err on the side of caution for the safety of their employees. The fact that they put it out there in the first place, giving people enough time to download it and seed it out to the torrents is still an accomplishment.

Islam and it’s Muslim foot soldiers prove once again they can not stand the light or criticism. They prove once again they are what they are. If you step on a viper it will bite you. I just became aware of “Fitna” yesterday and watched the Dutch version. I was able to watch the English version today at Atlas Shrugs. If there are verses being taken out of context or someone is incorrectly translating what the Muslim speakers say, then maybe I could understand the outrage. As far as I know, I haven’t heard anyone come forward stating the the information is incorrect. IMO this is all about exposing the radical muslims and that threatens their thirst for world domination.

You know when you come right down to it there isn’t much difference between Muslim reaction to this and the Jesse Jackson reaction wherever there is a Confederate flag. Correct.

It cannot reform itself; because then it would cease to exist.

What if we were to turn this around:
“Muslims must be killed because they have declared war on Wilders.”

The left would be up in arms over the second sentence but have no reaction to the first. Tolerance only goes one way when it comes to radical Islam. They must be provided Korans at Gitmo and footbaths at airports, but we are not allowed to bring a bible or even religious jewelry into their country. They can make cartoons about Jews and Christians and burn the Pope or other religous leaders in effigy, but we are not allowed to do the same with Mohammed.

Perhaps we should pass a law making it illegal to make death threats while burning someone like Geert Wilders in effigy, and then we will see how tolerant Muslims are in respecting our laws and customs.

On Saturday in a fit of rage I posted at our website, YouTube Smackdown, a YT video showing an up-close, moment by horrifying moment, beheading of an Iraqi man.
He was very alive until the knife began slicing and when his head was fully severed - it was displayed for the world to see.
The assassin was (this will surprise you) another Iraqi.
It took a lot of flagging from our site but it went down.
    Took YouTube 20 hours.
Maybe I should have left it up.
    The religion of peace?
It was - peace, by piece, by grisly piece.

Your snort was indeed prophetic, Michelle :).

I watched the movie, and it was mostly a documentary - in my opinion. The non-documentary portion at the end was simply a call to resist Islamic extremism.

Of course that was enough to cause Jihadists to issue death threats, SOP for them.
