Lights out at MichelleMalkin.com Update (noon): Flipped the switch

By Michelle Malkin  •  April 1, 2008 12:00 AM

Update: It’s noon and I’ve flipped the switch back on. Let there be light!

***
Today I am going dark.

We’ve turned out the lights at MichelleMalkin.com. Why? To raise awareness of empty awareness-raising gestures by Gulfstream liberals, Google energy hogs, and Gore-worshiping cultists whose DAISNAID (Do as I say, not as I do) environmental alarmist policies would send us back to the Stone Ages.

I urge you to help Raise Awareness of all forms of enviro-nitwit-ism, too, by:

*Cranking up your thermostats.

*Returning your CFLs.

*Protesting PETA’s animal cruelty and animal rights/environmental terrorism.

*Purchasing a carbon debit package.

*Informing your local public school teacher of Al Gore’s electric bill before he/she attempts to cram “An Inconvenient Truth” down your kid’s throat.

*Reproducing!

*Sending your favorite SUV-basher to visit The Concourse of Hypocrisy.

*And using as much toilet paper as you damned well please, guilt-free, while humming Sheryl Crow’s “All I Wanna Do:”

Don’t worry. Lights will come back on at noon. Happy April 1.

Lux et veritas floreant.

Good grief. I’ve been saying the same thing over the past several years, particularly in the past two days as a result of the “Earth Hour” idiocy. Good rule of thumb: whatever the enviro-nazis want, do the opposite. Maybe this idea is finally taking hold.

The story of human history has been the drive to improve the human condition. Today’s environmentalists want to worsen the human condition.

They want to impose their “religion” on you every bit as much as Usama bin Laden and the Islamists do.

Fight them. By thought. By word. By deed. Any legal way you can.

    Civilization depends on it.

    Human existence depends on it.

If the whole world drove Yugos, liberals would say the same thing about them, and want to tax them and make people drive pedal cars.

Well, whatever we drive is going to get taxed. At least with Yugo’s, we’d get better than 12 miles per gallon, and the amount we’d get taxed on would be alot less :)

I, for one, would support the one hour dark time for Earth Remembrance Day (or whatever in the heck it’s called) IF, and only IF, that meant that Al Gore had to shut his trap for the other 364 days and 23 hours of the year. :) That makes me feel happy inside.

I have to agree with the person up above who said that the black masthead shines. It does look mighty nice up there!

I saw this at work today and it made me laugh, so I thought I ‘d share the story.

I happen to work for a well known housing developer that is experimenting with “green building” (much to my chagrin). After holding our green building conference a few weeks ago (which I refused to go to on principle), we had a few leftover props. One of which was a 3d paper model of a “green” house, as determined by Energy Star guidelines.

Two of the more interesting features of the house were the solar clothes dryer and the rain recovery system. These sound like fancy, new, “green technology,” and if you only heard someone talk about it you’d think we’ve made serious technological progress.

But guess what?!? A soloar clothes dryer is nothing more a clothesline (I kid you not). And the rain recovery systerm is merely a large bucket you place under the downpipe from your gutter.

Apparetnly the word “green” is synonomous with “19th century.”

    OK….Michelle & Sausage…

I was walking around Wal-Mart today and saw that about half of the light bulbs there were “green”. It made me sick!

I know! Those bulbs may save money in the long run, but they were created by the Cult Of Environmentalism and should be SMASHED! Plus, do they even fit in trailer light sockets?

Please!!! don’t smash these bulbs, & YES!!! they really will make you very sick….they contain mercury….which makes them incredibly UN-environmentally friendly….I NEVER understood why Pajamas Media pushed them……LEDs you guys!!!….LEDs.

I’m looking outside right now and it’s snowing. (Not entirely unusual for Spring in CO, I admit.)

Cashmere goats are dying from the cold.

China had its coldest winter in 100 years.

Baghdad had its first ever recorded snowfall.

Over the last 10 years (during which CO2 emissions have grown significantly), the earth has actually gotten cooler.

Speaking for myself, I’d rather it warm up a bit.

I’ve said it before, but… I like CFL’s. Not because they’re green, but because they’re economical. They pay for themselves within a few months, and actually turn a profit within the first year. Yeah, they have mercury… but I’m not a blustering ham-handed infant, so I’m not too worried about it. Whenever I meet an enviro-nut, I always tell them the same thing: “green” has no future outside of capitalism. The way you make a difference is by innovating and creating technology that offers cheaper or better alternatives to current technology. Don’t give me a super-expensive and super-complicated hybrid car that costs more over 5 years than a conventional car. Give me a conventional car that gets 80mpg (my non-hybrid Toyota Matrix can get up to 40mpg, which rivals some hybrids, without the extra cost and complexity). Expecting people to opt to pay more for “green” technologies is a losing business model, except among the most self-loathing of Hollywood leftists. It’s not about figuring out how we’re going to pay for green tech. It’s about figuring out how green tech is going to save people money (and make money for the sellers of such technology). The only type of “carbon credits” I’m interested in are the ones that keep more of my money in my pocket.

They will never be pushed because the Power Co. will really loose money when they are used because they cost virtually nothing to run & can last a lifetime…..& finally….like I said…the light is beautiful…not the sour yellow/green of those mercury bulbs…besides, those bulbs can cause seizures & ‘curoius skin rashes’.
