Lights out at MichelleMalkin.com Update (noon): Flipped the switch
Update: It’s noon and I’ve flipped the switch back on. Let there be light!
***
Today I am going dark.
We’ve turned out the lights at MichelleMalkin.com. Why? To raise awareness of empty awareness-raising gestures by Gulfstream liberals, Google energy hogs, and Gore-worshiping cultists whose DAISNAID (Do as I say, not as I do) environmental alarmist policies would send us back to the Stone Ages.
I urge you to help Raise Awareness of all forms of enviro-nitwit-ism, too, by:
*Cranking up your thermostats.
*Returning your CFLs.
*Protesting PETA’s animal cruelty and animal rights/environmental terrorism.
*Purchasing a carbon debit package.
*Informing your local public school teacher of Al Gore’s electric bill before he/she attempts to cram “An Inconvenient Truth” down your kid’s throat.
*Sending your favorite SUV-basher to visit The Concourse of Hypocrisy.
*And using as much toilet paper as you damned well please, guilt-free, while humming Sheryl Crow’s “All I Wanna Do:”
Don’t worry. Lights will come back on at noon. Happy April 1.
Lux et veritas floreant.

If the whole world drove Yugos, liberals would say the same thing about them, and want to tax them and make people drive pedal cars.
My husband read this and left me a message to read it
between counseling sessions. I love it!
He said to tell you, you are awesome Michelle and he
has informed everyone that he works with (who have a
sense of humor) that they DO NOT have to use BOTH
SIDES of their toilet paper all day today!
Beautifully put.
I agree about Al Gore too, he makes me most nauseous.
But when it comes to “common sense middle ground” – that would be nice, but as you can see from the comments here, some people will never get it.
David Cameron (Conservative leader) in the UK has the right attitude on green issues and hopefully conservatives on this side of the pond will see how caring about the environment isn’t some liberal grand master plan that will see the destruction of America.
Love it! Thanks for the giggle this morning.
“black Tuesday” Good idea!! Was the choice of color just co-incidence?
Make it stop, dear lord, make it stop!
Oh yeah! Here’s a fun fact about me for the environmental crowd–I work in the fuel industry. I even drive a gas burner to work.
When I clicked the link I thought I hit the wrong link… I thought Michelle suddenly went emo on us…
To those concerned that there are a few of us who don’t exhibit a knowledge of ” common sense middle ground”…. I resent that. We know that the earth is ours to steward, we know that energy independence is the best way to go. But we also know that climate change is natural and we are not so arrogant to think that humans are so powerful to affect global change. We take the time to act in mocking fashion to reflect the stupidity of the lemming like followers of the Goracle. But don’t ever tell me CFL’s are the answer or nuclear energy isn’t safe. I know better. We are intelligent enough to live responsible lives…. so let us have our fun. I’m going to anyway.
Snausage #45:
Aren’t you expending energy blogging on this very site right now? Do the greenies a favor, and give your fingers a rest…perhaps that overinflated sense of self will ease down a bit.
Talk about no sense of humor… don’t liberals (oh, cough, cough… conservative sorry) ever laugh… nope just the ones making money off of the global warming scams and similar guilt trips.
Anyone ever read Catastrophe? It puts Al Gore’s
scam in a whole new light. Everything changes over
time and it will continue to change whether we are on
earth or not. It’s natural.
How weird: At the reminder to use as much TP as I want, and to hum that inane Sheryl Crow song, here’s how it came out in my head:
“All I want to do
Is wipe my bum
I’ve got a feeling
I’m not the only one
“All I want to do
Is wipe my bum
Until the sun comes up over
Santa Monica Boulevard”
There is a risk of some serious chafing….
Instead of turning off lights, I propose all environmentalists hold their breath for 1 hour to eliminate the carbon dioxide they produce by breathing. This would also have the added benefit of significant noise reduction and allow the rest of us some peace and quite.
Geeze Ms Malkin! Don’t scare me like this. I clicked to the page, saw the black background, and thought you had fallen for the 1 hour of darkness nonsense. Then I remebered it is April 1st. LOL! Good one. The whole turning out the lights thing had/has about as much influence on reality as a candlelight vigil. A total “feel good” thing that affects nothing at all.
Good grief. I’ve been saying the same thing over the past several years, particularly in the past two days as a result of the “Earth Hour” idiocy. Good rule of thumb: whatever the enviro-nazis want, do the opposite. Maybe this idea is finally taking hold.
The story of human history has been the drive to improve the human condition. Today’s environmentalists want to worsen the human condition.
They want to impose their “religion” on you every bit as much as Usama bin Laden and the Islamists do.
Fight them. By thought. By word. By deed. Any legal way you can.
Civilization depends on it.
Human existence depends on it.
If the whole world drove Yugos, liberals would say the same thing about them, and want to tax them and make people drive pedal cars.
Well, whatever we drive is going to get taxed. At least with Yugo’s, we’d get better than 12 miles per gallon, and the amount we’d get taxed on would be alot less
The lights will be turned back on in 11 minutes…
He who leaves the biggest carbon footprint when he dies, wins.
My new bumper sticker
It’s about time you made this a website of color, Michelle. For far too long you have caved to the man and imprisoned yourself in that all-white environment. You have broken out and you are FREE baby, FREE!
/sarc
You know what they say 30 pcs, once you black you never go back
To quote an oldie: “How do you increase the value of a Yugo? Fill up the Gas tank.”
BTW, Michelle, I DO like the black masthead – it shines!
Hehe, brilliant, Michelle!
Let’s raise a toast in styrofoam cups!
I, for one, would support the one hour dark time for Earth Remembrance Day (or whatever in the heck it’s called) IF, and only IF, that meant that Al Gore had to shut his trap for the other 364 days and 23 hours of the year.
That makes me feel happy inside.
I have to agree with the person up above who said that the black masthead shines. It does look mighty nice up there!
I saw this at work today and it made me laugh, so I thought I ‘d share the story.
I happen to work for a well known housing developer that is experimenting with “green building” (much to my chagrin). After holding our green building conference a few weeks ago (which I refused to go to on principle), we had a few leftover props. One of which was a 3d paper model of a “green” house, as determined by Energy Star guidelines.
Two of the more interesting features of the house were the solar clothes dryer and the rain recovery system. These sound like fancy, new, “green technology,” and if you only heard someone talk about it you’d think we’ve made serious technological progress.
But guess what?!? A soloar clothes dryer is nothing more a clothesline (I kid you not). And the rain recovery systerm is merely a large bucket you place under the downpipe from your gutter.
Apparetnly the word “green” is synonomous with “19th century.”
vsatt,
Good one.
Sheryl Crow’s “All I Wanna Do:”
Say whatever you want…this was a great video…& she was serious till she wasn’t…..all that flap over 1 piece of toilet paper…shoulda kept her musician-mouth-to-brain-function on alert.
OK….Michelle & Sausage…
Please!!! don’t smash these bulbs, & YES!!! they really will make you very sick….they contain mercury….which makes them incredibly UN-environmentally friendly….I NEVER understood why Pajamas Media pushed them……LEDs you guys!!!….LEDs.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Light-emitting_diode
gorgeous, clean, super-cheap LIGHT! w/ out the side effects of MERCURY!!!!
I’m looking outside right now and it’s snowing. (Not entirely unusual for Spring in CO, I admit.)
Cashmere goats are dying from the cold.
China had its coldest winter in 100 years.
Baghdad had its first ever recorded snowfall.
Over the last 10 years (during which CO2 emissions have grown significantly), the earth has actually gotten cooler.
Speaking for myself, I’d rather it warm up a bit.
After all, solar powered dryers don’t do much when it’s cold outside.
Forget about buying a cow, buy lots of beans (frijoles), cook well, eat and let your own body produce lots of greenhouse gases :p /major sarc!
GSP
On second thought; I am going to the bell and have some cheap 89 cent burritos to do my part at destroying “mother earth”.
Thanks tacobell!
GSP :p
We do our part every damned day by driving a Cadillac, a Corvette and a Lincoln. If they could be driven simultaneously, I would.
I’ve said it before, but… I like CFL’s. Not because they’re green, but because they’re economical. They pay for themselves within a few months, and actually turn a profit within the first year. Yeah, they have mercury… but I’m not a blustering ham-handed infant, so I’m not too worried about it. Whenever I meet an enviro-nut, I always tell them the same thing: “green” has no future outside of capitalism. The way you make a difference is by innovating and creating technology that offers cheaper or better alternatives to current technology. Don’t give me a super-expensive and super-complicated hybrid car that costs more over 5 years than a conventional car. Give me a conventional car that gets 80mpg (my non-hybrid Toyota Matrix can get up to 40mpg, which rivals some hybrids, without the extra cost and complexity). Expecting people to opt to pay more for “green” technologies is a losing business model, except among the most self-loathing of Hollywood leftists. It’s not about figuring out how we’re going to pay for green tech. It’s about figuring out how green tech is going to save people money (and make money for the sellers of such technology). The only type of “carbon credits” I’m interested in are the ones that keep more of my money in my pocket.
It’s not about how graceful you are, it’s about land fill & mercury poisoned runoff…..you know, fish/oceans/mercury!…nursing mothers/mercury….Japan http://www2.hawaii.edu/~juliancl/mgt423.html
LEDs ~ Light-Emitting Diodes
http://www.mtmi.vu.lt/pfk/funkc_dariniai/diod/led.htm
They will never be pushed because the Power Co. will really loose money when they are used because they cost virtually nothing to run & can last a lifetime…..& finally….like I said…the light is beautiful…not the sour yellow/green of those mercury bulbs…besides, those bulbs can cause seizures & ‘curoius skin rashes’.
http://www.blogrunner.com/snapshot/D/4/4/lowenergy_bulbs_worsen_rashes/
Can’t have mercury around as I am deathly allergic to it, even in shellfish
and my used to be favorite fish, red snapper, until the levels got too high.
Don’t trust those bulbs because I just might break one.
Anyone remember the ’70s when this same group of nuts were screaming
about global cooling? In thirty years, it will be what? Heaven forbid!
Global normal?
TXRose…..I just pulled all of those bulbs out of my house when one was broken by accident. Who ever thought up such a stupid idea & hoisted it on the public as environmentally sound??! Do you remember the Pajamas media blitz for these light bulbs??? I don’t get it. If you have to recycle a product w/an instruction booklet replete w/Industry heavy-metal cleanup gloves….maybe you shouldn’t market it in the 1st place…?…!
Wow! Just got my first (unsigned) hate mail for calling global warming a fraud in ltr to edtr. Must have touched a nerve! Michelle, I’m sure you deal with this on a daily basis and isn’t it kind of scary how some people react?
This seems to have touched a nerve with at least one
other site. Don’t know why people can’t see that
Global Warming is a scam. It’s like watching lemmings
run headlong off a cliff.
I agree, Coldfront. If you can’t just throw it in the
trash, there’s something wrong with the premise. It’s
supposed to be better for the planet but as usual with
these eco nuts, it’s worse for the people ( after all, they consider us a virus on the planet.)
USMCgramma
I had my response to a Goracle wanna be rejected by the local paper in my neighborhood for the same reason. Dontcha just love shining a light on the media…?
