Not a joke: Saudi father murders daughter for using Facebook
In Afghanistan, it’s dancing on TV. In Saudi Arabia, the new forbidden thing is Facebook. Add it to the long, endless list of stuff Muslims don’t like. Yeah, I wish I were kidding you:
A young Saudi Arabian woman was murdered by her father for chatting on the social network site Facebook, it has emerged.
The unnamed woman from Riyadh was beaten and shot after she was discovered in the middle of an online conversation with a man, the al-Arabiya website reported.
The case was reported on a Saudi Arabian news site as an example of the “strife” the social networking site is causing in the Islamic nation.
Saudi preacher Ali al-Maliki has emerged as the leading critic of Facebook, claiming the network is corrupting the youth of the nation.“Facebook is a door to lust and young women and men are spending more on their mobile phones and the Internet than they are spending on food,” he said.
The woman was murdered in August but her death was highlighted following Maliki’s comments. Social customs and religious rules oblige women in Saudi Arabia to cover their head and figure with a veil so that men are not distracted by the female form.
Critics also allege that Facebook is an avenue for the promotion of homosexual relations in Saudi Arabia. More than 6,500 people have signed the online petition in a bid to stop the conservative Muslim kingdom following Syria in banning access to the network from local internet servers.
There are estimated to be more than 30,000 Facebook users in the oil-rich kingdom. Many Saudi women use nicknames and post comic images or drawings on their pages instead of photographs. Some Saudi bloggers have dubbed the network “Faceless”.
That’s soon to be “Headless,” if the Religion of Perpetual Outrage prevails.

My daughter and I were at Barnes and Noble the other night and found a new magazine - “Muslim Girl”
I wonder if they would stock “Christian Girl” or “Jewish Girl”?
What do you expect from the intolerant madmen of the “Magic Kingdom?” The whabi sect of islam is the most strict and insane of them all. After all it has given the world Al Qaeda. I saw more than I ever wanted to back when flying AIRCAP support missions protecting American flagged Kuwait tankers base out of Riyadh during the mid to late 80s. I have seen them and they have seen me. I have absolutely no desire to return.

She wasn’t even in physical proximity to a man. She just had the audacity to talk to another “faceless” human being on the internet. Why are Muslim men so threatened by the independence and freedom of the Western world?
This is a blatant overreaction to an online conversation. All one can conclude from this incident is that Muslim men feel threatened by any perceived threat to their control over their female relatives. What this man did to his daughter is heinous, it is cruel, and it should not be tolerated by not just the Western world but the Middle Eastern one at large.
This will, of course, be classified as an “honor killing,” and this young woman’s murderous father will get a wrist tap and a hearty congratulations from the Saudi government for being a “responsible parent.”
My heart is saddened that the murder of the Muslim daughter was at the hands of her own father. Islam is a false religion established and made-up by a hate-filled, cruel, vindictive, corrupted, immoral man named Muhammed. Allah is the name for Islam’s fictional non-existent false god!
The “true God” of Abraham, Jacob, and Isaac does not hear or answer the prayers of hate-filled hearts and minds. Christians of all denominations are called upon to pray for the enemies of the “true God”, thus our enemies! That is one of the most difficult tenets of Christianity, but it can be done by praying that the hearts and minds of those Muslims and others ensnared in the Islamic religion of hatred and destruction will be changed by the “true God” through the intervention of those who believe in, work for, and help sustain the many Christian and other out-reach programs and various institutions founded upon Judeo-Christian values. Find one and support it with your time and talent.
God created us all and each life is precious! The sacrifices, persecution, and legal battles today against those in America and across the World who are reaching out with messages of HOPE to those enslaved by repressive, god-less regimes is a calling that those who truly believe in the Judeo-Christians values support and share and cannot ignored!
We need to believe we can make a difference directly in lives and in how policies of the government can be and must be improved regarding our most important freedoms! Islamo-facists use FEAR to deter everyone, including their own, from standing up and turning against them. We want to just leave the battles to someone else out of FEAR!
The infiltration into every aspect of the American culture - local, state, national government, education - over the last two decades is complete!
One of the best uses for new technology is to reach across our Nation and into the World with messages of Hope. My personal story is about on of my childhood girlfriends, who married a Muslim 15 years ago,and who has been in hiding with her two children for over six years! If they are still alive, I will most likely never see them again. Imagine living in such fear and/or watching your child’s life ended by the child’s own father. It is unimaginable!
Imagine how many times such murders have been carried out, thousands and thousands of times unreported in these so-called “enlightened” times. Where is the OUTRAGE??
Direct you anger at the perpetrators rather than “sniping” at each other. Direct your anger at the so-called “leaders” in our World who turn a blind-eye to man’s inhumanity to man and call for the mass destruction of Israel and all of us “infidels”! As to lgm’s argument that Saudi Arabia, an ally, tolerates such “honor killings,” yet Iraq, run by a secular, beneficent dictator (also a Sunni) gased thousands of Kurds and liked to dabble with WMD’S (they’re gone now you know so we don’t need to be in Iraq in your opinion). Which is worse? When you come up with something that is not morally relativist, let us know, okay?
Okay, first I am a conservative and a very fair conservative at that. Second, there are some on this blog who attest to being conservatives, yet, use language, name-calling, and ridicule, the same as many liberals, I’ve seen. That’s NOT what we are about. If all you can use is “liberal tools” to make your point, there are other websites. Third, I appreciate IGM and others that post opposing views. It makes the the reading interesting and informative. You won’t see me post anything negative against them, simply because I like to have them here. This is called, being a true conservative. Fourth, Rusty made a point on the history of Catholicism. Yes, they have a history as bad as the Moslems today. Let’s not forget the witch trials of women, and the total dominance of men over them for a long time. Over time, they have changed…and for the better. Still, I wonder if the changeover is complete. Fifth, it is sad that some Saudi killed his daughter…for whatever reason he has. We’ve recently had a guy kill his kids in Georgia, and one mental patient kill his 3 kids in Baltimore. A mom just got 36 years for killing her daughter. It seems to be a trend in this country to kill kids. A week doesn’t go by without someone killing his/her kids. Again, it’s really sad that such things happen in Saudi, or other moslem countries, but kids dead, are still dead, for whatever reason that can be given. Getting back to these “trolls” as you call them, I hope they stay and continue to post. A true conservative welcomes debate from those who use logic to contest our opinions. To be honest, if I had the chance I would buy IGM a beer, and welcome the opportunity to have a good discussion with him. His ideas would certainly help me in molding mine better. (not a sermon, just a thought)
I agree to the point that opposition posters here stay on topic. Some are better than others at avoiding the typical tu quoque or strawmen arguments. What annoys many here are the attempts to redirect the conversation to what they would prefer to debate (I apologize knowing that I’m doing the same here in response).
Don’t want to talk about anti-war protesters? Bring up pro-life demonstrators.
Don’t want to talk about Senators Clinton or Obama? Claim Senator McCain is worse. (Ignoring the fact that many here are not thrilled with him, either)
Don’t want to talk about the issues when following Islam to the letter brings about violence to women? Redirect to talk about Catholic history.
Don’t want to talk about anything else that Michelle posts? Blame Bush.
I am personally okay with Rusty. Some of the others, however, I believe come here deliberately to pick fights without having substance to show for it.

Your mother is not the only one in the world who cannot receive communion because she is divorced. I still go to Mass every weekend. You can’t be a Catholic and be pro-choice.
The fact that there is rampant anti-Catholicism does not surprise me. Of course it’s evil and bad according to some in fact it’s much worse than Islam according to a few. Saudi Arabia in particular has a long history of treating women and girls as less than human. Beatings, forced marriages, abductions, and even murders are facts of life for women. Remember the girls allowed to be burned to death in a school because the religious police wouldn’t let firemen rescue them. The reason? The girls weren’t wearing veils. Remember the businesswoman hauled off to the pokey because she was with a male business associate in a Starbucks? Remember the fact that women cannot drive there and must ride segregated buses? Oh yeah, they have to walk around dressed like mummies in public too.
Obsfuscate all you like, but it doesn’t change the 7th century attitudes toward women in the Muslim world. Especially in Saudi Arabia.

Islamic/Arab men for the most part have a psychosis regarding women. I submit it goes back to Ishmael’s rejection by Sarah when he and his mother were cast into the wilderness. Ishmael had pretty much to grow up as a fatherless man. Where have we seen this problem before and all the social ramifications, lack of “getting over it” syndrom and projected hate on those they feel wronged them?
When he posted that stupidity on a public website and linked to it with his profile here, he effectively invited us all to look at it. People get an impression of you from your website and if you want to be taken seriously and retain your credibility, you don’t post ridiculous stories about your bodily functions and lack of self control.

I probably shouldn’t have called names, but geez, if you’re trying to make a credible argument, then present yourself as serious. I don’t have a problem with him having that website, but linking to it from here ruins his credibility. We’ll still argue on his incorrect talking points straight from the Moveon.org manual in either case.

Keep on going to bat for lgm and Rusty, there, graysonret, Salt, etc. but I have a question for you: would they do likewise for you? They may be fellow American citizens but that is all they’ll ever be to me. What useful purpose do they serve on this site?
Yes, name-calling is a common, liberal tactic but when all you get is blather and indignant cries of outrage from “liberal visitors,” you call a spade a spade.
The Other Side may think that we conservatives only make fun of liberals but when you see some of their choices, how much they control in this country: let’s see- the media, the public education system, universities/colleges, etc. and how conservatives are treated, there is no tolerance by liberals. Their whole point in life (like Muslims) is to control people’s lives. Or rather, have out of control lives and out of control government. That breeds chaos… there needs to be a level playing field and bloggers like Michelle provide that.
Please think hard about who you champion. You might be surprised that people like lgm and Rusty wouldn’t give a rat’s hiney about you in a heartbeat.
