Absolut Reconquista Update: Coming to a billboard near you?

By Michelle Malkin  •  April 2, 2008 09:55 PM

Scroll down for updates…Photoshop time: How about a fence?

The beverage of open-borders used to be Miller Light. Now, it is Absolut Vodka. The vodka maker’s latest ad redraws the map of North America to please Mexican consumers. (Hat tip – Snapped Shot and Jim Hoft).

Reconquista? What reconquista? Oh, yeah. That reconquista:

I hear McCain campaign advisor Juan Hernandez and Hillary campaign advisor Dolores Huerta both approve.

Bottoms up!

The “In An Absolut World” ad campaign site is here.

Laura Martinez, who apparently approves, spotted the Absolut open-borders ad in the print edition of Quien magazine.

    This is “absolute”ly disgusting.
    I am an immigrant to the USA and love America.
    Mexicans are envious and angry.
    They need to solve their own problems and their weak, corrupt government.

    As T. R. Fehrenbach noted in “Fire and Blood,” his excellent (and un-PC) history of Mexico, the area Mexicans claim the U.S. “stole” from them was never really in its possession because “the predatory Apaches of Arizona, New Mexico and Sonora and the terrible, hard-riding Comanches of the Texas plains, presented the northern frontier with a problem the Spanish never solved. … the horse Indians were neither conquered nor pacified. They defeated Spanish arms severely in Texas in the 1750s; they destroyed Spanish settlements everywhere on the frontier. They did worse: Comanches and Apaches raided hundreds of leagues beyond their territory into New Spain. The terror continued until the second half of the nineteenth century,” and before it abated, Mexico besought its northern conqueror to protect it from Indian depredation, to which the U.S. assented in Article XI of the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo:

    “Considering that a great part of the territories, which, by the present treaty, are to be comprehended for the future within the limits of the United States, is now occupied by savage tribes, who will hereafter be under the exclusive control of the Government of the United States, and whose incursions within the territory of Mexico would be prejudicial in the extreme, it is solemnly agreed that all such incursions shall be forcibly restrained by the Government of the United States whensoever this may be necessary; and that when they cannot be prevented, they shall be punished by the said Government, and satisfaction for the same shall be exacted all in the same way, and with equal diligence and energy, as if the same incursions were meditated or committed within its own territory, against its own citizens.”

    Folks, you can relax a little on this because most of the internal migration patterns are to the former Spanish colonies.

    And most Hispanics prefer to keep English as the dominant language, provided the left doesn’t use its white guilt agenda on them.

    They give the Mexican reconquistadors credit for controlling way to much land. The Shoshone, Ute, and Comanche did an excellent job of handing the Spanish and later Mexican invaders their butts. I too, find it amazing that a company could so easily forget about the consumers who made its product successful in the first place. Appealing to the “lowest common denominator” (something that lgm appears to do or mock when he can), is only a short-term marketing strategy.

    As a former bartender, I’ve never recommended Absolut. It doesn’t appeal to more “refined taste buds.” Instead, try Grey Goose, it’s a little pricy but it’s good on its own or as a martini.

    I’m sure illegals will be over the moon that this new ad compaign appeals to their “demographic.” Is it any wonder that they’re committing the DUI’S, vehicular homicides, and hit and runs while inebriated? Absolut is just another company trying to make a quick buck at the expense of the native consumers who helped them make a name for themselves.

    We have two options.
    1. Close the anchor baby loophole and come down hard on employers.
    2. Annex Mexico. We’ve already got half their population, at least we’d get their oil and could deal with the whole drug problem. Besides, they’ve only got a little teeny southern border. Maybe we could secure that since we obviously can secure the big one we have now.

    If the mexicans take over their ‘proposed’ land they will only ruin it like they did their own country. Corruption, business acumen that doesn’t exist, poverty. Of course, then Ted Turner’s world would come about sooner. I wonder how much of the Mexican population would want to go green, and I’m not talking agriculture. The co2 from the beans alone…..

    Mornin’ everybody. Here’s some potentially bad news for us non-vodka drinkers. Absolut was recently bought out by Pernod.

    According to Wikipedia,

    “Pernod Ricard owns a wide variety of beverage brands worldwide. These include:

    Royal Salute (scotch whisky)
    Chivas Regal (scotch whisky)
    The Glenlivet (single malt scotch whisky)
    Jameson Irish Whiskey
    Seagram’s gin
    Pernod aux extraits d’absinthe
    Wyborowa (vodka)
    Ricard and 51 (pastis)
    Martell (cognac)
    Wild Turkey (bourbon)
    Jacob’s Creek (wine)
    Pernod (anise-based spirit)
    Zuco
    Becherovka
    DITA (lychee-based spirit)
    Havana Club (rum).

    As of 26 July 2005, the brand portfolio expanded to include former Allied Domecq products:

    Ballantine’s scotch;
    Kahlúa coffee liqueur;
    Malibu coconut-flavored rum;
    Beefeater gin;
    Tia Maria liqueur;
    Stolichnaya vodka (distribution in the USA);
    Mumm champagne;
    Perrier-Jouët champagne.”

    So it looks like there are plenty of brands to boycott, if you are so inclined.

    In 1994 California citizens passed Prop 187. The courts have subsequently ruled against the people. So when the fight begins we know who gets a rope. Make no mistake California is not like you see on TV its not San Fransisco. My next door neighbor came from Tijuana he speaks perfect English he owns his own business and if the crap hits the fan he is marching with me not them. So put that in your pipe and smoke it. You want to know what we unseen Californians are like check out Michael A Monsoor that’s the real California not the TV show version you see. My guess is that these mouths that we hear talking trash about us wouldn’t last five minutes against even a tiny minority of us. We have veterans coming out our ears here anybody including Americans who wants some come and get it. Same thing goes for these south of the border insurgents. On a side note I just received a jury summons, that’s right, these idiots think they can cancel out my vote and I am going to sit on their juries. I will, as soon as these legal rats are the ones that are on trial.

    Now, if Samuel Adams does something stupid like this, I will be in a world of hurt.
