Triple-snort-worthy photo of the day: “Hugo Chávez con orejas.”

By Michelle Malkin  •  April 2, 2008 01:57 PM

A tipster points me to this hilarious photo of Hugo Chavez unintentionally (or not?) Disney-fied by a Reuters photographer.

Apparently, Chavez is incensed and called the photograph an act of “terrorism.”

My tipster e-mails: “This must be the first time Reuters ever did anything right.”

Noticias 24 even has a poll asking readers whether they think the photo is funny or terroristic.

Go vote.

While I always suspected that Chavez was a member of the rodent family, I thought it was more like the rat than the mouse. I did consult a rodent information site and was distressed to discover that “because of their high reproductive rates and ability to invade many habitats, rodents are able to spread and multiply quickly.” On the good side, however, it was also noted that “population, however, may soon crash because of predation, disease and food shortages.” Spot on for Hugo!

From what little Spanish I know, here’s a summary of the poll:

Is the picture disrespectful of Chavez?

    1: Yes
    2: No, it’s just humor.
    3: No, it’s just a coincidence.

If anyone wants to correct my summary, please feel free.

He throws that word around to describe everything he deems adverse to his “character.” Terrorism - he doesn’t even know…

I guess “terrorism” is taking a picture that makes you look humorous (as opposed to bat-sh* crazy), while “killing unarmed protesting students” is okay, if you’re the president of Venezuela?

Nice going, Chavez. Don’t worry, idiots in the U.S. will be wearing your t-shirts soon enough.

    Can’t correct it, that’s the same thing I came up with. :) You’re dead-on.

And as of 15:04 on 2-APR-2008, here are the results. 2,828 votes cast total.

    Disrespectful - 7% (205 votes)
    Humourous - 37% (1,043 votes)
    Coincidence/
    Unintentional - 56% (1,580 votes)
