Jamiel’s Law: The revolt against L.A.’s illegal alien sanctuary policy
Law-abiding citizens of all colors are uniting against the targeting of innocent black residents of Los Angeles by illegal alien gangs. The parents of murdered high school student Jamiel Shaw met with L.A. public officials yesterday, urging them to rescind the city’s notorious Special Order 40–one of the nation’s oldest illegal alien sanctuary laws. Enough is enough:
The parents of Jamiel Shaw Jr., a high school football star who was gunned down by a reputed gang member just blocks from his home, urged Los Angeles city leaders today to go after criminals who are in the country illegally.
Pedro Espinoza, 19, allegedly shot and killed the 17-year-old Los Angeles High School student on March 2 in the 2100 block of Fifth Avenue, not far from the Shaw family’s Arlington Heights home. According to police, the shooting occurred one day after Espinoza was released from county jail, where he was serving time for assault with a deadly weapon.
U.S. immigration officials believe Espinoza, a member of the 18th Street gang, may have been in the country illegally.
“We have a problem with the system. My son was murdered by someone that was here illegally. No matter how you look at it, that’s what happened,” Jamiel Shaw Sr. told reporters before entering the Los Angeles City Council chamber.
Authorities do not know why Espinoza was not detained by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement upon his release from the county jail.
Because, as I’ve reported so many times over the past several years, catch and release remains the standard operating procedure of the day.
Jamiel Shaw Sr. said checking the legal status of criminals is not an issue of racial profiling.
Exactly.
“We’re after the gang members who are here illegally, and when they’re released from jail, they’re out in the community,” he said.
“The guy who killed my son was in custody. He had a long prison record … and he was let out without any kind of hearing. He was let out into the community on a Saturday night with no supervision and within 24 hours, he had gotten another gun.”
The teen’s mother, Anita Shaw, said she plans to attend Espinoza’s arraignment hearing tomorrow. She was serving in Iraq when her son was slain, and will ship out Thursday for duty in Kuwait and Germany.
“I’m safer, somewhat, in Iraq than my son is safe on the streets of the United States. It doesn’t make sense,” she told the City Council.

Hey, Barack Obama. Where’s the honest dialogue about the racial crimes the Left doesn’t want to talk about? Will you march with the Shaw family–or with the illegal aliens again?

Harry Truman said “The buck stops here.” Wonder how the city council and mayor will try to pass the buck on this? If they don’t accept responsibility for the results of their blind acceptance of Chief Gates’ ill-thought sanctuary order, then they deserve everything that’s coming to them. The order may have been initiated in 1979, but there have been many chances since then to rescind it, and it still stands.
They have “sown the wind” and are about the “reap the whirlwind.”
The illegal alien problem should not be a right or left issue, a black issue, a white issue. It is a right and wrong issue! We cannot afford to lose promising young black men, especially to illegal aliens! Enough is enough!
Did you notice in the last sentence of the TV clip, the reporter tries to defang Jamiel’s law? He said Pedro wasn’t in the immigration database in the first place, so Jamiel’s law wouldn’t have helped.

I cannot watch the video here at work; however, I am not surprised in the least bit. These people do not like to see US citizens locked away for their crimes. It makes perfect sense, if you follow their logic that the same would apply to illegals.
the story TV story tried to say that the Shaw’s efforts are for naught, because according to the reporter, Pedro wouldn’t have shown up in any databases because he’d been able to pass as American. well, in his previous brushes with the law, he would have had to provide proof of his citizen status. if he couldn’t provide a valid SS#, then he would have been in the databases, despite how well his english is.
but the subtle message that Jamiel’s Law wouldn’t work is pretty disgusting.

We’ve got the same problems here in Salinas, CA. Highest count of murders this year than any other and most all are gang related. This crap has to end. People that do not belong here must be deported. Screw racism or any other metaphor the ‘illegals and their supporters’ want to use. When you have unwanted pests you call the exterminator.

What to do with these sanctuary cities? Well how about the cities around these sanctuaries doing something? How about the surrounding cities instituting a policy with which they can take an illegal that they have come across and book em, drive em to the sanctuary city limits, warn them not to come back and let them go. Then the next time they are caught bill the sanctuary city for all the costs related with prosecuting these people. Eventually these sanctuary cities will collapse under the weight of illegal immigration and the heavy costs related to it. Make these cities carry their own sack of problems and then we will start seeing illegal and sub standard legal immigration dealt with.

This is another atrocity that continues to jack my jaw on what has become a daily basis I find myself becoming a very angry middle aged man that has just about had it with the Federal, State, and Local Governments failure to defend our nation’s sovereignty by putting a halt to the open invasion of my country. A decent kid with a bright future was killed for being an American by a lowlife illegal invader that should not be here in the first place. It was a direct result of California’s sanctuary laws and the even bigger problem with illegal aliens. You don’t have a dog in this fight? Really??
30 – as I recall, there are quite a few things that bit-boy doesn’t have a dog in. What he fails to realize is that EVERY citizen of the United States, regardless of color, race, national origin, etc., has a very big dog in this fight.
Murder is murder, no matter who commits it – but the fact that an illegal alien might have committed it(and, according to the story, it hasn’t been conclusively proved that the murderer is an illegal alien) makes it all the more abhorrent. If it proves out that he is in the country illegally, and that he has that many priors, then I hope they have a spot picked out for him up here in San Quentin on death row. If he’s returned to Mexico, how long do you think it’ll be before he’s back here with another gun in his hand?
In any case, get him permanently off the streets.

I understand the L.A. sanctuary policy was initiated to encourage the illegals to report crime without fear of being singled out…HUH? What does that mean? If their illegal should they not be singled out as illegal aliens? Now it’s got so a lot of American citizens are afraid to call the police because we don’t know how their going to react. Will they be politically correct or will they up hold the laws? This will result in the push for actions by the citizens…not knowing if you can trust your law enforcement officers to do the right thing.

We used to have Alcatraz here too, we still do, sort of, you can take the three hour tour. I have heard they even have ex inmates as guides, how historically quaint. If it’s true I wouldn’t advise taking the tour alone. As for myself I think we could substantially cut down violent crime by having public hangings in certain circumstances or periodically whatever the case may be.

I disagree with you on this one. Until the black community comes out strongly against illegal immigration nothing will change.
People aren’t allowed to use Barracks middle name, or ask him about his racist reverend. The “typical black person” must demand illegal immigration stop, not just because of this innocent young man. Because it is destroying our country and nothing seems to matter in this country unless it invovles a black victim demanding justice.
My theory again; the “typical black person”, Sharpton, Jackson, Obama, Wright, etc., do not want illegal immigration to stop. They want it to continue so they are ensured to maintain the super minority status in our country. This will enable them to claim victimhood in perpetuity.

This is exactly what you get with liberal policies. Hillary wants a moratorium until the impact of the fence can be reviewed by radical enviros. Barack wants a repeal of the fence legislation. Yet 90 percent of blacks voted for Barack before him they voted Clinton. That’s why I say liberal policies are childlike. They may believe they have the best of intentions but like a child’s view of the world it isn’t always what they think it is and it doesn’t always work out the way they want it to. The difference between a liberal and a child is a child usually learns, unless the child has the mind of a liberal of course. The dems are comprised of so many conflicting sub groups if left to their own devices they would descend in to anarchy. They cant make any decision there is always a conflict so nothing gets done or worse the things that do get done only speed your eventual demise. There are consequences when free people don’t think things through. That’s the number one peril to free people, themselves. Its high time, well past high time that Americans start to understand this fact.

Enforcing our borders is not a race issue or discriminatory.
When we do not enforce the law, we get lawlessness and people die. When we did not enforce our border laws, we created law enforcement apathy in communities that rippled across our nation, divided us, and effected the lives of all.
Jamal Shaw’s murder is the sad and unnecessary price of seeking only blindness in the docket in the aftermath. What we knowingly failed to do, as a nation, to prevent his murder will forever be the greatest injustice.

African Americans are just plain stupid for always voting Democrat. Racist Obama won’t help them either, although he will jump on some newly formed bandwagon in the next few months to con the bottom dwellers. The only thing Obama can change is his rhetoric.
Has anyone noticed that as far as people on the left are concerned “silence is golden?” This did not have to happen to Jamiel. This kid had a bright, productive future unlike the criminal thug who killed him. LA is a cesspool and they’re AFRAID of cleaning it up. Not only is the city of LA scared of confronting illegal immigration but so is its police force.
How can the LA mayor and police chief look this family in the face after what they allowed to happen? They are as equally culpable as DC for the chaos and anarchy that illegal immigrants have brought to our country. Illegal immigrants aren’t just law-abiding, hard-working folks trying to support their families, they are also criminals, identity thieves, social entitlement leeches, and scammers.
This is the kind of preventable tragedy that sanctuary cities have wrought on their local populations. Why do cities like LA care so much about illegals yet so little about their own American citizens?
American citizens across the board need to STOP making excuses for this type of assault on our own people.

The city Council is more worried about losing the Hispanic vote, than a murder. Jackson and Sharpton will always ask, “What’s in it for me and keeping the white/black divide?”, before doing anything. Until there is a strong demonstration against gangs, nothing will happen.
