Exercised over Elton John; Flashback: Elton John’s misogynist lyrics
A lot of you are exercised over Elton John’s comments lambasting America as “misogynist” for refusing to coronate Queen Hillary Clinton.
I’m mad at Elton John, too…
..for searing this hideously awful image in my head too early in the morning:
Agh. Ack. Ouch. My eyes.
Does he have a point? Sure, there are Neanderthals who won’t vote for any female candidate based on her gender.
But there are far more anti-Hillary voters who are opposed to her pathological dishonesty–not her biological make-up.
And yes, there’s the obvious point that if you’re a sexist for opposing Mrs. Clinton, doesn’t that make you a racist for opposing Obama?
As for the fund-raiser itself, the Washington Times first raised questions about the legality of the foreign pop star raising gobs of money for Hill. Given the Clinton’s past troubles with celebrity fund-raisers, it would behoove someone at the FEC to ensure all the i’s were dotted and t’s crossed.
Hollyweird funny money and Hillary have a history.

Flashback: Reader Stephen reminds us of Elton John’s misogynist lyrics pining for Margaret Thatcher’s death…
Can you hear it in the distance
Can you sense it far away
Is it old Rudolph the reindeer
Is it Santa on his sleigh
It’s heading up to Easington
It’s coming down the Tyne
Oh it’s bloddy Maggie Thatcher
And Michael Heseltine[Chorus:]
So merry Christmas Maggie Thatcher
May God’s love be with you
We all sing together in one breath
Merry Christmas Maggie Thatcher
We all celebrate today
‘Cause it’s one day closer to your death
Elton John: Woman-hater.

Neither one of the “queens” in that picture get my vote.
Nothing Elton John has to say holds any value. Didn’t he once say that if he had his way he ban religion because it turns people into “hateful lemmings” and is completely without compassion?!
Me too!
Love the comment malkin fan!
Misogynist, if you don’t vote for Hillary. Racist, if you don’t vote for Obama…
Damned, if you do. Damned, if you don’t.
What are you you if don’t vote for, McCain?
Oh, never mind…
Misogynist????? Did Elton John say that while BILL CLINTON was on stage?????
My mind boggles at the stupidity of Reginald Dwight……….
Photo taken at auditions for Queen for a Day.
I guess I’m just a racist misogynist. Or perhaps a misogynist racist. I can’t decide.
Yeow! I’ve seen better heads on an iodine bottle.
When will celebrities simply act, perform their music or do whatever they do and leave politics to politicians?
Oh yea – and let’s have the Brits, and anyone else, stay out of our elections, policies & politics as well.
it’s racist to call Obama a mysogynist because he opposes Hillary
…and they both lost.
I am glad I never liked Elton John. I do not have LP’s or 8-tracks to get rid of now.
When it comes to matters of sex, who do you call? Mysogynist-Busters
Rush does that too.
Hillary should not be supporting these types of comments. I know that the candidates can’t control what their supporters say, but it would seem that she should make a statement to let people know she doesn’t really think that misogyny is the only reason people won’t vote for her.
To me, this is similar to Obama and a seemingly endless stream of racist preachers. He can’t stop them from expressing their hateful opinions, but he could speak out against such rhetoric.
In the words of Ted Nugent,
“Don’t pay attention to what I say, I’m a rock star. Make up your own mind.”
The world has surely come to a sad end when the endorsement of Elton John lends credibility to any campaign! I never thought of myself as a misogynist, since I am a woman. What about a misterogynist?
RR -
That’s because their supporters eat it up like candy. They love to be able to point at the opposition and say it’s because of racism or sexism – that deflects from the real reason: Ideas, leadership ability, and their record.
As far as I know having a vagina does not preclude one from being a lying dirt bag not worthy of the Oval Office — but I could be wrong.
Or is it mysogynist to call Hillary a racist because she opposes Obama? I’m getting confused with the liberal-PC pecking order.
In my opinion, the biggest issue of sexism in regards to Clinton’s candidacy does not lie in people not voting for her because she is female. I have talked to many women (some in-laws included) who plan on voting for Hillary simply because she is a woman. That is pretty sexist if you ask me.
Two excellent points, MM! I just wish the people who use the gender card, as a means of refocusing the blame for Hillary’s loss back on the voters, would realize that her gender has noting to do with her failed campaign, while her persistent dishonesty does – she lied even when it wasn’t necessary!
jiHillary is not Margaret Thatcher, though she were, and Elton John is a delightfully talented musical carbon unit but he has a life time of not making good decisions and not being too bright. So should we all now take his perception of us seriously. Well, sure we should.
It really is quite nauseating how these two just seem to gravitate toward each other. It’s like static cling. Too bad one can’t say the same of John’s opinion of former Prime Minister Thatcher.
Either way, it’s a weird choice for Dems this election. Or should I say top choice? You’re either voting to perpetuate racism or sexism. If Obummer and Shrillary join up could we call them the “victim ticket?”
Does anyone even listen to Elton John anymore….
Nice to see Elton is an anti-black racist.
Hey, live by the sword, Sir Elton…
I will say this. I am SURPRISED by how the Democrats have turned against Hillary. John’s comments are directed at the Obama democrats, which include former Bill supporters. Bill however has been turned into a laughingstock by these democrats and its allies, the Main Stream Media. So when Hillary wins and the Republican Vice Presidential candidate is a women, will he be praising the Republicans.
I can understand Elton John wanting to defend Hillary. They share a common bond; both of them are married to unfaithful husbands.
Elton John…ugh.
When I was at the end of high school, and early in college, Elton John was quite popular and successful, and I didn’t mind some of his tunes, at that time.
During our courtship shortly thereafter, my at-that-time girlfriend/fiancee liked Elton John; so, naturally, I listened too.
But, since the mid-later-70s, I’ve ignored him; I might add, that that has been no loss in the least.
He is so lame and “not happening”.
This is the same Elton John who called America racist because a black American Idol contestant was voted off the show. I love his early stuff, but he has grown into such an a$$
He did have a thing for Diana apparently…..maybe just a move to get him knighted
Very classy gemini…you must be quite the human being. BTW, most of my gay friends have very strong friendships with women. I’m not sure I’ve ever run across a gay guy who “hates women”. How do you feel about women gemini?
As with anything in life, process the information, consider the source, and then make up your own mind. You think that Elton is making a good point on this subject and you consider him a credible source, then by all means, vote for Hillary. You don’t, then go another direction. Who cares?
FWIW, I think 4 or 5 Elton John songs from the 70’s rank among the very best pop tunes ever written.

What’s that got to do with the price of tea in china?

Possibly that, or just the “thing” that the “fabulous” glitterati have for each other.
I remember some 20 or so years ago that Elton John got married to a woman; and I also remember thinking at the time that that marriage was a joke, and that I was not alone in thinking that at the time.
That marriage ended several years later.
FYI, for the likely reason of the end of that marriage, here’s a link:
http://www.biogs.com/famous/johnelton.html
On the other hand, David Bowie, a glam-rock star, has been married to Iman for 20 years.

No, I certainly don’t bother reading these sites.
They popped up on internet searches, and the links are being listed as “evidence”.
C’mon max…give me a break. Several prior posts made mention of the quality, or lack thereof, of EJ’s music. Kind of an inane and toolish of you brah.
C’mon max…give me a break.

Telling and predicable that granite’s response to gemini’s bigoted and disgusting post it to basically agree with it.
Every so often celebrities of a variety of nationalities and sexualities let the mask slip to give us a peek at what they really think of their adoring fans who made them rich.
I need some introspection time to consider why Sir Elton thinks my countrymen and I don’t prefer women. He does have,er, expertise, after all.
Hillary Clinton surrounds herself with beta men so it figures that Elton John would be attracted to her. Hillary has beta men like Sid Blumenthal around her. These are beta guys who spend all day fretting about Hillary’s appearance and writing snotty letters to anyone who criticizes Hillary.
Wasn’t the 70’s famous for Disco. So, what does talent have to do with anything.
Like I said, I wish I had LP’s and 8-tracks to get rid of.
The ones written by Bernie Taupin.
John was once a great songwriter and musician. He also collaberated with others for a lot of his music. He, alone, is not responsible for his success (or huge ego).
Not everybody shares your love of Elton John, dakine. I myself, have eclectic tastes that range from classical, country, to hard/alt rock. John is also quite the ignorant/misinformed Brit based on a lot of his liberal/gay activist leanings.
For a lawyer, dakine, you show an abhorent use of such abbreviated words as “brah.” What the hell does that mean? “Bro,” “brother,” “sistah,” or “sister,” are one thing but “brah?”
Granite/gemini, you probably should consider that a compliment given that he’s also called me “predictable” several times. It’s also quite telling that the champion of such “renowned” blog visitors as Rusty could call anyone “predictable.”
Do you have a bug up your butt today about something, brah?
emjem,
Careful or you may suffer the wrath of “bra”.

I thought Elton John was supposed to be a compassionate AIDS activist? I watched a loved-one die from pancreatic cancer over a 6 month period last year. I clearly state that I would never wish death upon any political opponent, no matter how strongly I disagree with their political philosophy.
How does a “compassionate” AIDS activist get off wishing death upon a fellow countryman, and hope to retain any human credibility in the eyes of rational people?
Just two days ago a fellow poster lashed out at another, who made light of the leading cause of AIDS, by calling that someone an orifice:
Can we agree that a “compassionate” AIDS activist, like “Sir” Elton John, is a far greater orifice for wishing death upon someone he politically opposes?
screw Elton John, that talentless hack.
How is it legal for a British citizen to campaign for a presidential candidate?
The devil does so why cant he?
People who take political advice from a guy who makes a living dressing up like Donald Duck shouldn’t be allowed to vote.
Misogynist America. While hugging a female U.S. Senator. While the Secretary of State is a woman. Etc., etc., etc. Celebrities are hopelessly stupid and/or ill informed, with a few notable exceptions.
As someone on FreeRepublic said, he shouldn’t say anything unless it was written by Bernie Taupin.

Thanks, emjem.
And you’re tight about “predictable” – looks like certain bloggers have huge projection issues.
But, that particular blogger and others of that ilk are nothing more than mosquitoes and gnats for us to brush off, as far a logical, mature discussion at this blog is concerned.
They get very dangerous if they decide to vote, though….
“Do you have a bug up your butt today about something, brah?”
Good one, emjem…bloggers such as that one so often seem to have that problem!
Or, as my father used to say (and still does say), perhaps he “has a hair across his **$”.
…you’re right about…
Apologies.
Sadly, “preview” does not “work” at work.
IMHO, the quote of the day goes to Chuck:
“People who take political advice from a guy who makes a living dressing up like Donald Duck shouldn’t be allowed to vote.”
Touche’ and spot-on!
What’s next – CNN political coverage from Disneyland?
“With guest political commentary from Goofy, Pluto & Mickey”
lol, how can you type and chase ambulances at the same time?
That’s why they invented Stoplights, Aj…..
opps, i missspoke, i thought dakine said:
my bad, just funnin anywho….
Talk about beyond the yellow brick road…..Jeez! Or maybe theyve been rocking one too many crocks.
Michelle, that’s a generously shoulder-cropped photo of Elton John that you are using. Drudge’s larger photo shows that Elton’s pantsuit is twice the size of Hillary’s.
Has he been retaining water again?
if his hinder is bigger than el skankys then he’s retaining elephants.
Oh what a repulsive qu@@r he is.
Wow. Maybe we should have a whole topic about ‘brah’.
I’m just glad that a musician making a comment about a political race isn’t enough to make me brand him a ‘repulsive queer’ or ‘talentless’.
Consider this my pointless addition to the most inane set of comments I’ve ever read on a topic at this site.
Really? Where you been hidin?
#64 – lol your moniker….”Confed of Dunces?”
He also accused the nation of being racist for not voting for someone on ‘American Idol’.. the guy is a tool, trying to feel important because he’ll be remembered at the gay dude that plays the piano.. but he had good voice…
has a good voice, even..
***must, resist.. skin.. flute.. joke..***
Ooooh, the directions one could take with comments on Elton John’s support of HRC. But, alas, many of those options could get one banned from here. So, I am trying hard to refrain from making them.
But, if Elton John likes women so much, the why doesn’t he like women?

but i know many a gay caballero hell bent on proving he could be a better woman than his mommy. and many who make the very penetrating claim that they “know” what it’s like to feel like a woman.
so on the outside, many of them strike a nice “you go girl” pose– while on the inside they are playing the kitty kitty shred shred game with their competitors.
what a twisted cabal some of them have created— while believing they can’t be seen doing it.
and as for the Crisco Queen John-boy: did Harrison Ford and Calista Clip Art really drink too much at your Oscar party?
and as for Hillary: close your yap for the photo-ops please. ewww.
Randi Rhodes fired for her misogynistic description of Hillary as a bitch.

Oh, soap, you’re too funny.
Perhaps, he has this problem?
Or maybe he’s got “bra envy.”
Thanks, but the juvenile lash-out was prompted by someone without a sense of humor. I wasn’t mocking AIDS victims; I was mocking ABSOLUT’s gay-themed advertising.
I sometimes like to go out go about cyberspace in drag…as Myrna Minkoff, bien sûr
Re 69:
I think Randi could get off the hook on this easily and keep her job: “I was talking about myself! Not Hillary!”
The face plant she did some months ago walking her doggie may have forced her last few stray neurons out of her ear hole.
What goes round comes round.
RE 71:
the question remains….do you have a weiner wagon?
Elton John is a white Naomi Campbell.
Is that

If your intent was to mock, you should have just taken the Elton John approach and “wished them dead.”
I guess being a white male in the South, I would probably automatically be labled a racist or a misogynist.
Ironically, I would vote for one woman for President. Her name is – Condoleezza Rice.
