I can’t look at Petraeus

And the reason he cant is because everyone of those medals was EARNED. Each one shows that General Petraus has, his PHD aside, done something honorable with his life. It’s that conviction that Cavett cant stand. It cuts him to his liberal core and each medal is salt in the wound.

Reading Cavett in his twilight years gives us an insight into what Bill Maher will be like if he lasts into the 2030’s or so. Minus gratitutous profanity, of course.

Is he being deliberately ironic, or is he a bigger dope than my father always said he was.

Prissies like Cavett hate Soldiers, especially those who’ve spent a lifetime at the service of their nation, and in harm’s way. Feeling inadequate and resentful must be an awful thing for those who didn’t have what it took to enlist in the military.
Cavett was one of those kids who got beat up on the playground and stuffed into lockers in highschool. Insulting people far better than he, makes him feel better about himself.

Hey Dick, leave the heavy lifting to Steven Colbert.

MP&T is right: Cavett is a William F. Buckley, Jr. wannabe – a pseudo-intellectual for the left whose only claim to fame was his ability to ape Buckley’s erudite mannerisms during interviews with Hollywood greats in their declining years and in bashing America’s military, then engaged in Vietnam, as a desperate ploy to gain relevance with the anti-war vanguard of the 60’s.

He is shameful and should get back under the rock of obscurity that he has somehow managed to claw his way out from under by, once again, bashing America’s military in a time of war.
