Jeremiah Wright to preach in Norfolk
Hey, Barack: Speaking of “bitter” people, your profanity-spewing, America-bashing spiritual mentor Jeremiah Wright will be preaching in Norfolk, VA this Sunday. He’s scheduled to give the sermon at the 11 a.m. service at Bank Street Memorial Baptist Church at 7036 Chesapeake Blvd. Wright is a relative of a former preacher at the church.
Not everyone’s rolling out the red carpet, you’ll be glad to know.
Here’s a dissenter:
Black Minister in Norfolk Area Declares ‘Unity & Patriotism’ Day as Counter-Balance to Jeremiah Wright’s Speech at Norfolk Church
Bishop Jackson Calls for Unity Based On Ideals & Patriotism – Not RACE
Sunday, April 13th, 11:30 Am – 1701 Park Ave. (Hoover Ave. Entrance), Chesapeake, VA. at Exodus Faith Ministries
Contact: Bishop Jackson, 866-573-0772, 757-546-7587MEDIA ADVISORY, April 8 /Standard Newswire/ — On April 13, 2008 at 11:30, while Rev. Jeremiah Wright speaks at one church in Norfolk, just a few miles away, Bishop E.W. Jackson Sr., like Wright also a former Marine and also African American will sound a very different note than has been heard from Wright’s sermons. Wright has been quoted as saying “God damn America”, accusing the Government of creating the AIDS virus to kill blacks, and calling the United States a white supremacist country.”
Says Bishop Jackson, “Last Friday I buried a young African American soldier who died from wounds suffered in Iraq”. “Before he went on that mission – his second voluntary tour – he told his mother he was prepared to make the ultimate sacrifice for his country. Seen in that light, Rev. Wright’s remarks are beneath contempt and denigrate the sacrifice of Sgt. Jevon K. Jordan and many other Americans, black, white and every other ethnic background.”
Bishop Jackson has begun a campaign to counter the remarks of Rev. Wright and those who defend him. He argues that Wright’s so called “black liberation theology” is not representative of what African American preachers are offering in pulpits around the country. “We preach Jesus Christ and Him crucified, not hate your country, hate other people and avoid ‘middle class-ness’. The Anti-American, Anti-Israel, pro-Farrakhan message that Wright teaches is heretical to the Bible and Christianity. Christians are too busy teaching what God is doing for us to become obsessed with what real or imagined enemies are doing to us. God commands that we forgive.”
Bishop Jackson is an unapologetic patriot. He has criticized Barak Obama’s removal of his flag lapel pin. “People have bled and died under the banner of that flag, and it’s not good enough for you to wear it?” Jackson asks rhetorically. “What is it about our flag that you don’t like?”
Bishop Jackson’s says Exodus Faith Ministries’ Sunday service will not be about who Rev. Wright is, “But about who we are as Americans. We are a nation thirsting to be all that the Founding Fathers envisioned and more, not wallowing in the past but marching forward into an ever greater future.”
Barack Obama, meet Bishop Jackson.

I like what I hear about this man. He is spot on with how to look at this nation and the wonderful, patriotic people that make it up. It is a positive message, not negative. Doesn’t make you wonder? Liberals, MSM thrive on misery. Look at S.F., Berkeley, L.A., Chicago. How does the MSM represent them? Poorly.
Let’s limit free speech!
//sarc off
Bishop Jackson is the man of truth and hope here. He ought to invite the Marine who penned “She Called” to recite his poem.
She Called
Nah, let’s continue to use free speech to point our what a racist, America hating, BS conspiracy theorist, divisive piece of crap Wright and others who think like him are.
I, for one, would love to hear Bishop Jackson’s sermon. I hope it is recorded and gets at least as much media coverage as that preacher, Mr. I Hate America, the “Rev.” Jeremiah Wright gets.
May God the Father Almighty rest his Soul and comfort his family.
“Rev” Wright would make a perfect wife for hugo.
I’ve very interested in what Reverend Wright says, whether he tones it down or gives white America the finger again.
Good for you Bishop Jackson!!
My son is stationed in Norfolk on the USS Enterprise. Jeremiah Wright could take himself elsewhere. But this is great news to have Bishop Jackson in Norfolk preaching patriotism. Our military doesn’t need to hear or see Wright, actually Wright needs to sit and listen to Bishop Jackson and maybe learn from him and unlearn his hatred.
Bishop Jackson’s message sounds like something ALL Americans should take to heart.
I’m surrounded mostly by military people at work and I imagine my view of things are biased by that. There are people of all shades and races that have many reasons for joining. I admit that I joined for the training and travel opportunities, but after 22 years I am still in due to a love of my country and the desire to help defend this nation. As a front line supervisor I try to instill those same ideals where I can. Some folks you get to and some you don’t. It’s gratifying to watch the positive transformation.
Does Bishop Jackson need to counter balance Jeremiah Wright. I think not. Does a dead black warrior need to be offered as a balance to Michelle Obama. I think not. The Jeremiah’s and Michelle’s can not be compensated for. There are thousands, if not millions, of them in the Subculture. As shocking as that is, that is and they are same ilk as Barack Hussein Obama. As much as McSame is totally unworthy he is better than giving America to theses three as another entitlement.
This is beyond predictable. Jeremiah Wright is the new “Rodney King” for the people who embrace his subculture:
Jeremiah Wright had been “speeding,” “driving under the influence,” and engaging in every other Rodney King analogy for over 30 years in the pulpit.
Once Wright was caught on videotape, what enraged the average American only strengthened the support and resolve of the average embracer of Jeremiah Wright’s subculture.
Just like Rodney King’s PCP-infested, 90 mph car chase through law abiding neighborhoods of LA on the night of 3/3/91, and the swath of all of King’s subsequent crimes against himself, his spouses and society; Reverend Jeremiah Wright’s insults against Jews, Italians, whites in general, and the proud history of the United States of America will continue to be excused, and he will continue to be paraded around his subculture like a Park Avenue mistress’ shitzu in a Louis Vuitton handbag…even though the spoiled little dog continues to crap in the corner of the room.
And with continued fortunes on the line, Wright would have to be a fool not to play his game.
Snob-ama Confucius philosophy says: They’re just a bunch of gun loving, religious, racist, Neanderthals foaming at the mouth! Uh Goddamn!!!!!! Coming soon,to a liberal fortune cookie near you.
The left doesn’t want you to know it but Americans, true Americans are all part of a tribe. Our tribe as you know follows the Constitution as put forth by the founding fathers. We may not have the same skin color or we may come from different parts of the world but together we become Americans. There are many Americans willing to lay down their lives for their country but what is a country without its people? It is people like Reverend Jackson that combined with others make up our tribe. Those who are willing to give the ultimate sacrifice military or civilian do so for the people like Rev. Jackson who are the country. So really we are willing to go all the way for each other and therefore the country as a whole. The more of us who are willing to do this the less of us will have to. United we stand against anyone anywhere anytime. BHO and JW will try to divide us but it wont work we know who and what we are and we are comfortable in our own skins. Maybe they could spend some years/decades/centuries and try to figure out who they really are.
Wright accused the Government of creating the AIDS virus to kill blacks? Woah, I missed that one. Tin-foil hat time.
If Wright wants to see a true racist, he need look no further than the nearest mirror.
Amen.
Has anyone heard this yet?
…White bars represent the “white” slave masters that run this country;
the red bars represent the blood of the “black” man who has bled and died to make the white man rich;
the blue field is representative of all the beatings that the slaves endured at the hands of their “white” masters;
the stars represent the view of the black man, on his back after receiving his beatings;
and the flag raised on the flag pole shows the world just how shamelessly the white man has dominated the black man, and is proud of it….
I haven’t yet heard any of the black racists in this country make a remark like this, but just wait. This sounds like something out the the Race Book Malik Shabazz carries around in his head.
Hmm. I’m moving to the Norfolk area May 1st. I’m glad he’ll be gone by then. It will be interesting to see the reaction down there, especially being a military town. Right_on, I hadn’t seen that before. Gotta remember that.
Bishop Jackson sounds good. Something to check out.
Having been stationed at Naval Station Norfolk for nearly 7 years, I can assure you that a very large portion of the local populace thinks, acts and speaks like Wright does. The myth that it is a “military town” as far as being ultra supportive of our personnel is also false. There are exceptions, mind you, but we were made to feel very unwelcome by many of the locals.
I’m glad I escaped that area.
It’s refreshing to know that someone like Bishop Jackson is willing to speak up for this country, not just against Wright’s ignorant belief system. I wish I still lived there because I’d be in church tomorrow morning.
I agree with you PBoilermaker. We were stationed at Norfolk for 3 years, but chose to live in Newport News. The whole area, although I knew Conservatives, was quite liberal. Glad to be back in FL.
Wait, so if this black bishop disagrees with Wright’s racist views, does that make him a “typical white person,” too?
I’m confused . . .
Perhaps another way to rephrase this fine question to Mr. Obama, because I am sure we would all be interested in the answer, is: “What flag out there is the one you do like?”
Seriously, the question is reasonable and Mr. Obama needs to be pressed on this. Let’s put a cap on SmoothJive. Just the truth. Tell us, Barack, what you really think and feel.
Thanks, navywife and pboilermaker. Well, we’ll be in Portsmouth, not in Norfolk city. I hope for good neighbors. Anything might be better than being surrounded by day laborers and illegals, like in Fairfax County. Heck, I wouldn’t mind a liberal neighbor, if the person can discuss (not argue through name-calling) issues. These days it seems they are everywhere, in cities.

“Snob-ama Confucius philosophy says:… Coming soon,to a liberal fortune cookie near you.”
OK, I know you are being funny & I don’t want to get all huffy about offending the Chinese (-Americans, that is)… BUT what were you thinking?
Confucius dealt with logic & liberals don’t… was up wit dat? too much msg?
anyway back to the thread..
Wow, small world. I grew up in Fairfax County and I know exactly what you are talking about. That ship is sinking fast.
Hampton Roads -can- be a decent place if you know where to hang. I never spent much time in Portsmouth, but it can be nice. If stationed in Norfolk, the best place to live is out in VA Beach near Dam Neck/Oceana or NAB Little Creek . Chicks Beach is nice, too, but expensive. I certainly don’t miss the base traffic on 264/64.
Navywife, congrats on getting to FL.
We have a townhouse out by 664. Shouldn’t be too bad, traffic-wise. Had a taste of it last Monday morning, going there from Va. Beach, in the rain, through the tunnel/bridge. Heck, piece of cake, compared to I-95 and the Beltway. I know Michelle doesn’t miss I-495. Navywife in Florida has it nice in the winter months.
“Jeremiah Wright to
preachspew hatred in Norfolk”With added ignorant accusations and fabrications.
Bring the Kiddies!
Bishop Jackson married a friend of ours this past Feb. He was great. It was a wonderful ceremony and he gave a fantastic sermon on marriage and family. Wright should go to his service and maybe learn something.
Graysonret, I lived in VA BCH for 10 years. I wouldn’t mind moving back there but my M-I-L lives there and my husband says even being in the same state as her is too close. I used to go to Ghent a lot when I was single. I’ve been gone for 8 years but there were a lot of great places to eat and bars down there. The beach is nice too but I always liked it better when the tourists were gone in Sept. I think you’ll like it better than Fairfax (we now live PWC). I hope that you both enjoy it.
Hey, gray. We moved from Ffx (Herndon) to Tidewater in the fall of 2004. Three weeks before a presidential election is a great time to look at houses. The agent took us to see some in Norfolk the first day, but the itty bitty yards and the plethora of John Kerry signs had us looking elsewhere the next day.
We ended up down in southern Chesapeake. We have lots of space between the houses and a dependably conservative congressman in Randy Forbes. It’s kind of what Herndon used to be, ya know?
I have to be in Norfolk tomorrow, but I think I’ll pass on the “honor” of seeing Wright in person. I got young’ins, and unlike some people (yes, I mean you, Senator), I don’t want to subject them to hate speech and vulgar language.
The next time Jeremiad Wright ponders questions of justice he might want to ask why a sniper’s bullet took MLK from us yet Wright still lives. Or why JFK took a bullet, but Teddy K. hasn’t.
Instead of eternal grievance mongering, he might express gratitude for what hasn’t come to pass.
OT..
is there a lot of VA folk here? my wife and I are moving to VA at the end of this month..
Overall, Virginia is a pretty good state. DaveC, where in Va.? Hope you have a good move, and welcome.
Let me add this little “tongue in cheek” that includes Rev. “Right-on”. The burning Bush lied, and people died.

FYI…My son is an alumni of Messiah College in Pennsylvania. It is a Christian college that is leaning more and more liberal every day. His commencement speaker was Juan Williams. Tonight the college is hosting the Compassion Forum.
All three candidates were invited to attend. It seems that Obama and Clinton will be there. CNN has EXCLUSIVE rights to broadcast the “forum” and will do so tonight at 8-9:30 E.T. Go to http://www.Messiah.edu click on compassion forum …look at the topics and gag.
Little Creek is very close, maybe the occupants of Little Creek should pay a visit to hear the sermon.
News on the sermon:

Three cheers for Bishop Jackson!
I lived in Lynchburg, Virginia from ‘79 to ‘84. I loved it, great little city in a beautiful state. I’d go back there any time.
Depends upon where you are moving. It is a beautiful State and very different depending on location.
Dave C, we live in Prince William County-near Manassas. We also lived at Fort Lee, VA & as I said, I previously lived in VA BCH. When I was a kid (about 7) we went to Williamsburg for the first time. I fell in love with it and knew that one day I wanted to live there (I guess I thought you got to dress up everyday in colonial costumes or something). However, I got to VA BCH because I had the opportunity to get my cousin’s townhouse at a steal because he was being transferred from NOB to Rota.
I think you’ll like it here. It’s beautiful and there is so much history and many things to do.
I think if I had anywhere in Virginia to live, without job concern or anything like that, it would be around the Lexington area. It’s a beautiful, quiet area…from what I have seen, visiting there. Housing is pretty good too.
south of Richmond..
Moving out of Michigan because of a bad economy and my clinging to religion (praying) has led to a job opening up for us to being able to move away..
Found A new Rev Wright supporter. VIDEO:
Pastor Mack King Carter: “The Thing About The Jeremiah Wright Thing Is White People Have Never Repented Of Their Transgressions”
THE REAL OBAMA !! READ ON MICHELLE’S BLOG “ANOTHER WACKY OBAMA PREACHER, ANOTHER HATE-FILLED RANT # 48 THIS MIGHT OPEN SOME EYES.
I live in Virginia Beach and was thankfully out of town this past weekend. I missed breathing the same air as Wright, a so-called “minister.” I am elated to learn about the Bishop in Chesapeake who is rallying against preachers like Wright. We need to see more black preachers come out of the woodwork to denounce people like Wright’s hate filled “blame whitey” sermons.
(By the way, I have lived in VB since 2005 and love it here! I live 3 miles from NAS Oceana and get to see, hear, and feel those kick butt SuperHornets fly over my house almost every day. They give me chills!! The traffic in VB can be bad, but compared to Northern VA, it’s a cakewalk. )
I too live in Virginia Beach. The local news (WAVY 10) covered Rev. Wright this morning. This was not open to the public, by the way, but the people that they interviewed said that the speech was very tame. He did mention that reporters had snuck in to a eulogy that he was performing to tape him. The Thomas Jefferson was a pedophile story came out of that.
