An epidemic of black preacher bigotry

By Michelle Malkin  •  April 14, 2008 10:55 AM

First piece of advice to Jeremiah Wright: It’s probably not a good idea to accuse someone else of being “stuck on stupid” when the “stupid” they are stuck to is…you.

Second piece of advice: Funerals are supposed to be about the person being eulogized, not the self-aggrandizing eulogizer. Or maybe that’s just a racist norm I’m oppressively imposing on his diverse culture.

Disgusting:

The Rev. Jeremiah A. Wright Jr., former pastor of Barack Obama’s Trinity United Church of Christ, has kept a low profile since some of his sermons landed him in the middle of a political firestorm.

But on Saturday Wright made his first extensive public remarks since the controversy began as he paid tribute to his friend, former appellate judge R. Eugene Pincham, a congregant at Trinity since 1987.

While discussing “seven lessons the judge taught me,” Wright never mentioned church member Obama, who has rejected some of Wright’s comments, which included denunciations of America for its mistreatment of black people and claims that America’s promotion of terrorism abroad helped prompt the 9/11 attacks. But Wright did take the opportunity to bash some of the critics of his controversial statements, including Fox News personalities Bill O’Reilly and Sean Hannity.

And while Wright made no mention of terrorism, he did revisit the topic of America’s mistreatment of blacks, saying America’s founding fathers “planted slavery and white supremacy in the DNA of this republic,” and adding that Thomas Jefferson wrote, “ ‘God would punish America for the sin of slavery.’ I guess that makes Thomas Jefferson unpatriotic,” he said to the cheers of the congregation…Escalating into full-preaching mode, Wright thundered, “Fox News can’t understand that. [Bill] O’Reilly will never get that. Sean Hannity’s stupid fantasy will keep him forever stuck on stupid when it comes to comprehending how you can love a brother who does not believe what you believe. [Pincham’s] faith was a faith in a God who loved the whole world not just one country or one creed.”

At that point, congregants nearly drowned Wright out with a booming standing ovation.

Wright also referred to Fox News as “Fix News.”

Third item on the agenda: Meet yet another loony black preacher, Pastor Mack King Carter of New Mount Olive Church in Fort Lauderdale (big hat tip – Marked Manner). In this video of his sermon last week, the preacher’s about to pop a vein as he screeches and howls that “the thing about the Jeremiah Wright thing is White People have never repented of their transgressions:”

As you’ll note, he’s also a big fan of Nat Turner. And of shouting the n-word at the top of his lungs.

Bitter much?

tsk tsk tsk….we cant tell them that…that would make a “typical white man” like me racist, and it would be too close to the truth.

I dont know why you cant understand, its just their anger and pent up feelings about being slighted, and about slavery, and every other social injustice we’ve thrown upon their backs. It’s our fault, and we should immediately make reparations.
    /sarc off

I always find it ironic that the first people to play the race card, like Wright, are usually the ones who first throw out racist, inflammatory comments. The same ones who fuss about the evils of slavery have never experienced it. The same ones who complain about racism are the same ones who actually perpetuate it by the venom in their speeches. And even though i’m not religious anymore, I’m positive that church should be about preaching the good word, and not using it to grandstand and broadcast a purely political message.

Ugh, these race hustlers make me sick.

This will never be “fixed” until we all grow-up regarding matters of race. Until we can accept a “White Church”, this whole concept of a “Black Church” is obvious, yet completely ignored, racism.
And the whole idea of “racism” is in itself a ruse. It only applies to white people, regardless of what elitists say!
Where blacks excel, like in sports and music, we’re taught it’s because of their skill.
And where whites excel, like sales, marketing, construction, human relations, policing, firefighting, swimming, hockey, political representation, driving, education, science, customer service, business administration, and executive ability, we’re taught that it’s because of white racism. Get the scam? Whites don’t really excell at ANYTHING! Except discrimination!
What would you call one group that excels at a few things, compared to another, that excels at nothing? The answer is…..SUPERIOR.
This is the REAL lesson learned in “Black Churches.”
Believe blacks are supereior to whites? FINE!
Believe whites are superior to blacks IN ANY WAY? It’s off to Hater’s Prison for you! Re-education must be performed to save you from your “hate.”

I would argue it’s not a “black church” thing, but a LIBERAL church thing. In many liberal churches (white, black, and otherwise), you get specious theology and rhetoric that blames everything under the sun (read: conservatives, whites, America) for the world’s problems. The thing they ALL have in common is a religion based on the self, rather than a relationship with God and Christ – a religion that requires of them no sacrifice, no self-control or restraint, no deeply reflective examination of their consciences.

That was one of the things that always stood out for me in Wright’s now-infamous sermon. He bemoaned the “killing of innocents” but I’d bet you dinner he never had a discussion about abortion with Barack Obama, or Obama’s refusal to protect living, BORN infants – twice – in voting against the “Born Alive Act” in Illinois.

That’s the kind of half-hearted theology that Wright and the rest preach. And it’s not even theology, it’s spirituality.

There is at least one predominantly black congregation here in Milwaukee, a Lutheran church that is very conservative. While their pastor is white, I’ve heard him on the radio and his theology is pretty sound in as much as it adheres to Luther’s Small Catechism and the like. So not all black churches are like that. And a family friend is a (now retired) black minister and a conservative even more so than I.

Agreed. To add to it though, confronting people with this mentality is almost, at this point, an exercise in futility.

If you agree with them, you’re getting screwed over.

If you disagree, you’re labeled a bigot, a racist, a hate-monger, and everything else they can think of to demonize you. Once that starts, its hard to hold a forum to discuss the issue without someone calling your point of view invalid, because you’ve been assigned those labels. That doesnt mean you give up the good fight or back down from these hustlers…but it admittedly makes the fight a bit more difficult.

As in all things, eventually, the truth comes out and exposes people (like these frauds, racists, and others like them) for what they really are.

Since I was young, I’ve heard of white racism in the “deep south”. I’ve seen and heard of it in movies and books. I see and hear the claims of racism everytime Jackson, Sharton and their ilk speak. Now I’m hearing it from Barack Obama and his preacher.

I’ve looked around and I guess maybe I’m sheltered or just haven’t been in the places where racism was prevalent. I’ve not seen blatant racism displayed as depicted by the above sources in real life. At least white against black racism.

What I have personally seen is black on white racism. The perpetrators have normally been female, government workers who have attained positions of authority. That’s because my career was in the government.

The fact they attained the position does not necessarily mean they are not qualified for the position. Many are well qualified. There are many whites who attain positions they are both clearly qualified and unqualified for.

It’s what many do when they reach those positions. Not only is there an arrogance, but I’ve seen blatant preferential treatment in the hiring and special treatment afforded black co-workers. They unabashedly promote everything black.

So if I were to step back and look at racism that I’ve personally observered over a lot of years, I’d have to say the most rascist are blacks.

After the “coming out” of Jeremiah Wright and others, I’m beginning to think that my observations are not too far off the mark.

I’ve noted comments in earlier posts about black churhes in general. The one’s you are hearing about are the liberal churches (like the white churches) who have hijacked the word Christian and are making news with their anti-Christ behavior and words.

Most true Christian churches are not vocal with regard to politics and the subjects of the talking heads. They are too busy attending to the spiritual needs of their congregations.

For those who have read the New Testament, I don’t believe you will find where Jesus or any of the Apostles ever railed against the government or the politics of the day. Jesus did condemn the actions of the hypocritical religious leaders of the day.

The problem here lies in the fact that the older generation of blacks that did have to deal with not having the rights that whites had seem to want to pass this down to their children when their children live in a totally different world than their grandparents lived in. Instead of embracing the change that has occurred in our nation over the last 60 years they tend to bring up the past as if these problems happened yesterday.

A slightly different take: it’s not that today’s “blame whitey” black subculture failed to embrace the changes, but rather that they embraced those changes all too well.

Before Lyndon Johnson’s “Great Society,” statistically blacks were working their way up in American society despite the obstacles in their path. The nuclear family was the rule and not the exception, literacy rates were climbing, as were income levels.

It is arguable that had they been allowed to progress on their own, blacks in America would’ve eventually followed largely the same trajectory as other immigrant/minority groups: from discrimination to eventually finding acceptance in the melting pot.

But instead, beginning in the 1960s the Federal government demonstrated exactly what Reagan meant when he said that “The most terrifying words in the English language are, ‘I’m from the government, and I’m here to help.’

Instead of empowering blacks, the Great Society infantilized them. And while it’s tempting to think that this was just another example of The Law of Unintended Consequences, the brutal truth is that the Great Society did exactly what it was meant to do: create a permanent subclass of adult wards of the state.

Or as Johnson put it in his characteristic way: “I’ll have them n*ggers voting Democrat for the next 200 years!”

What we have today in black America is a catastrophically dysfunctional subculture that sees little incentive to change. It’s hard enough for most people to see their problems and their failings as the result of the choices they’ve made; harder still when there’s encouragement all around to point the finger at somebody else (e.g., “whitey,” “The Man,” “Republicans,” “Jews,” “structural racism,” “Fox News,” etc.) to explain why they remain self-destructive, resentful, stagnant and poor.

Ordinarily, one would expect the Christian Church to help them in coming to grips with the situation; after all, it is the acceptance of one’s inherently sinful/flawed nature that is the first step toward spiritual salvation, just like it must be in overcoming self-defeating attitudes, beliefs, values and behaviors.

But as we see, even the black church is in on the act of keeping blacks focused on external scapegoats instead of bettering themselves. Thus, some of the greatest poisoners of black minds today have something in common: the word “Reverend” before their names (Jackson, Sharpton, Wright, Carter).

It’s going to take a sea change in the institutions and people who serve as black opinion-leaders before any positive change takes place; unfortunately, Lyndon Johnson may have been dead-on accurate in his “200 years” prediction. Certainly I don’t see such change happening in my lifetime…

    2. Multiple baby daddies/out-of-wedlock births 70% of overall black birthrate
    3. Poverty
    4. Drop out rate
    5. Dependence on government services
    6. Black men killing each other/going to jail instead of to college
    7. Broken homes
    8. Drug addiction

Yet, there are blacks (and their victim demagogue preachers) who will say it’s whites keeping blacks down. It’s whites denying blacks opportunities.
