Another MSM Obama/Osama gaffe: Associated Press exec goofs, “If I did that, I’m so sorry!”
Obvious point worth spelling out: The Associated Press’s MSM colleagues will cut them a hell of a lot more slack for this than they would if anyone from Fox News had committed the same error (photos here):
At the close of Q and A at an Associated Press luncheon in Washington, DC, AP chairman Dean SIngleton skipped over a question on what’s becoming known as “bitter-gate” in favor of asking Illinois Senator Barack Obama what he surely thought would be a less controversial question on Iraq.
Would the senator be willing to shift a substantial number of troops from Iraq to Afghanistan, asked Singleton, where the Taliban has been gaining strength — and “Obama bin Laden” is still at large.
The room was quiet – as the crowd contemplated whether they’d heard what they thought they heard. But Obama, apparently, heard the same thing. After a pause and a smile, he said “I think that was OSAMA bin Laden.”
A red-faced Curley put his hands to his head. “If I did that, I’m so sorry!” he said to nervous laugh[t]er in the room.
Obama diffused the situation fairly effortlessly. “This is part of the exercise that i’ve been going through over the last 15 months,” he said, breaking into a grin. “Which is why it’s pretty impressive ‘m still standing here.” The professionally-stoic crowd of journalists gave him a round of applause.

Good job Obama for taking it as good as he did….. if it wasn’t set up.
You really gotta give it to the guy. He can talk himself out of any situation.
Typical white people,
Attending Wright’s church,
Bitter people clinging to guns
Guy is freakin bulletproof
Well, if you are talking about taking money from working Americans and giving it to someone else, then you would be talking about Socialism. So, I guess Washington is working hard to move us in that direction.
And this complete idiot just changed the storyline.
Practicing Muslim or not, his 20 year association with a pastor that demonstrably has serious issues with the U.S., and has demonstrated associations with the likes of Farrakhan and other racist do not build one’s confidence that he is 100% pro-U.S. I would really like more assurance and more explanation about why he could worship under Wright for so long without objection.
@TexasTiger post 75
Perhaps you should read my post more carefully. I simply said granite thinks there is credible evidence that Obama is a terrorist plant. I grant granite’s magnanamous concession that maybe, just maybe, he is not.
Thank you Theotherside for showing us who you are and what you Really stand for and that you have no concept of what you are talking about. Good night all. I am going to bed and dream of the good old days when Ronald Regan was our president.

Sure looks that way, Barry F.

Wow, I guess I really hit a nerve or three by listing items about Obama which are cause for concern; items that I have not created out of whole cloth, but rather have gathered from reading over the past several months.
I’ve seen ferocious, derisive responses directed at me regarding my concerns at this thread, and at other threads…but I have yet to see any explanation – not one – offered as to why the items I have laid out should not be a cause of concern.
Given that radical Muslim jihadis want to grind us under Sharia; or, alternatively, want to slit our throats, why should I, or any of us, want to take any risks, however slight?
The tone of the responses, and the lack of substance of the responses, speak volumes. Really quite ferocious, full of sound and fury…but signifying nothing (to paraphrase Shakespeare).
The responses are not unlike the responses that a public figure, like a judge or legislator, gives when confronted by someone asking questions about a stupid court decision, or a shady, corrupt business deal:
“That’s a ridiculous question!”
“What’s ridiculous about it?”
“It’s just ridiculous! It’s the most ridiculous question I’ve ever heard!”
“Why is it ridiculous?”
“It’s utterly ridiculous! How could you even ask such a question?!”
Yep.
Obviously nerves have been touched.
Waiting for indignant, dismissive, arrogant, empty rebuttal in 10,…9,…8,…7,….
Dakine, if you lived down at Barber’s Point I will apologize but I can honestly tell you that I’ve known no one from Ewa no matter how hard they tried for scholarships or just trying to get in while the folks worked 2-3 jobs because they were told amongst other things “it would be difficult for them to fit in”. They are also very smart kids as well and one of these girls graduated number 6 at Sacred Heart last year but she was told she wouldn’t fit in at Punahou. So perhaps when you were there it wasn’t so elite but from what I’ve heard from the neighbors who lived there all their lives it always was.
I don’t assume you & Mookie are voting for Hillary-maybe Barry but don’t remember much being said about McCain. I will hold my nose and vote for him because of Iraq and those other two clowns are dangerous. I have stated before I volunteered in his campaing in 2000, gave lots of money but his immigration stance turned me off. However, I am not going to let the dimocrats take this country down the toliet on the way to socialism if I can help it so I’ll vote for him.

has this ever happened? really? hmmm…maybe i missed it. /sarc
Chap-the only person’s calling me out and on my so called idiotic statement is you, TOS and other liberal toads. It’s a joke but you have no sense of humour. I don’t think he likes this country, I think like OBL they both want a different America. Perhaps you do as well.
Idiotic statements is what you type everyday. Sorry you have no sense of humour. Poor chap.
TOS #93:
why on earth would i go to his website to read what he “believes”? i just need to wait until he’s speaking to middle-class white men to hear what i want – or wait till he’s speaking to middle-class blacks to hear what i don’t want.
From Wikipedia:
i didn’t realize voting “present” counted for anything other than to prove oneself an indecisive coward.
legislation??? what legislation? has he passed anything of true merit? is this what i’m to be impressed with?
or this?
no, clearly, it must be the soon-to-be landmark summer learning day that’s to WOW me:
wait…no i’ve found it. the almighty “uniter” has me hooked:
what would happen, by the by, if a white senator proposed legislation for the clingy, religious, white, redneck teens in pennsylvania? methinks Pennsylvania’s CHICKENS…will have come home to roost.
but what do i know??? i’m just another typical white, western-PA born and bred, gun-totin’, bitter religious redneck, standing on the shoulders of my legal immigrant ancestors that laid the foundation for me to become what i am today.
U.S. Rep. Geoff Davis, R-KY, is neither a racist nor an idiot! I do not know him personally, but I do know of him. He is being taken completely and totally out of context by the Obama campaign, which never misses a chance to use the race card as means of shielding a vulnerable Obama from the tough questions he must one day face.
Of course Rep Davis is being taken out of context. Obama is grasping at straws to get himself out of this jam.He is not stupid.
Davis likely temporarily forgot the rules. Unlike minorities, the typical white man cannot say certain words.
It’s a joke but you have no sense of humour.
Nah, that’s not it. It has nothing to do with having a sense of humor. It’s about the same sorts of comments showing up here, that show up on DailyKos and HuffPo. . .except from the other side of the aisle. We bash those sites for their anti-semitism and BDS, only to see similar comments arise here. We don’t question the seriousness of the members of THOSE sites, assuming that none of them were posted out of ’sarcasm’. Their readers are likely to do the same when they see similar comments here.
That’s the whole point.
I guess you’re new here Yashmak? We don’t use the foul language that’s on Huff Po & Kos for starters. I have stated that I think like OBL, BHO has an agenda for the US-no I don’t think it’s Sharia law but I do think he is a socialist of the first order who has no respect for those who are gun owners, who want to do something about illegal immigration (something McCain I hope understands now), and go to church. In that sense they are two brothers of different mothers-they both want the US to be a different country than what it has been and what it is now. So if that makes me a fill in the blank person to you, oh well. I don’t think you, tos, and chap truly understand what I was saying. I can say this about this site-the leftist are allowed to post and do so on a daily basis. I tried signing up for both huff po and kos and when I said “I was a conservative looking forward to spirited debate” I was suddenly banned. I don’t know what comments you’re talking about as far as any anti-semitism goes. Speaking for myself I wouldn’t call Rev. Wright a fine example of a pastor but whatever, you seem to want to see just what you want.
That’s the whole point-if you don’t like it that’s your problem not mine.
Wow…so take the broadest possible statement about two people’s agenda, i.e., they want change, and use that as your basis for comparison. That is really useful progression of the discussion. Glad you cleared that up.
Seems like a lot of people on this site don’t like what they perceive as America today…increasingly liberal, secular, anti-Christian, etc… and would like to see it change. I guess they, including you, terririst- oops I mean terrig- (sorry, but the names are just so dang similar) are a bunch of Bin Ladens too.
And FWIW, I have no dog in the fight over what sites out there are more or less inclusive. I don’t really visit HuffPo and Kos much and am not registered there. All I can say is that the admins here seem pretty hands off (in a good way) with respect to the more liberal among us, and for that I am thankful.
And btw, terririst DANG I MEAN terrig I AM SO SORRY TO KEEP MESSING THAT UP, I recall seeing Yashmak’s name around here well before I started noticing you posting.
Wow, chap you’re really a mature individual. You don’t like my thoughts on the subject so I’m a terrorist? BTW I’ve been here from the beginning so stuff it. I just didn’t have a lot of time to post while my hubby was in Iraq. Sorry, you’re so confused.
Yes, Michelle has a pretty hands off policy here which is good. It allows you to make your voice heard and in turn call people names because I dared to question your sacred cow.
Yes, many of us don’t like the liberal point of view-so what? I’m sorry you have life and you’re so unhappy you want to make us all as unhappy as you are.
Again, I’m sorry you don’t like what I have to say but that’s freedom of speech buddy. All I did was shorten your name, you on the other hand-well, never mind.
Again, sorry you’re such an unhappy individual but there is help out there for you. Cheers!
Should be “have no life”
Jeez terrig, can’t you even take a joke?
I was just using humor to make a point.
You know, kind of like how the BHO/OBL comparisons are totally ROFL cause their names are similar?
Why so sensitive?
Sorry again that you don’t like my opinion. I wore a uniform for 12 years to express it and for you to do the same.
You’re obviously a child who can’t take it so before you contact Michelle and say I’m bullying you know this-it’s really no big deal. Sorry you can’t accept a difference of opinion. Have a nice day.
I can accept a difference of opinion terrig. I am not trying to change anyone’s opinion of Obama as a leader, politician or as a person. I couldn’t care less about your opinion of Obama in that sense.
What I do care about, and what Rusty or I or Yash were saying is that it is patently absurd to even begin to compare Obama to a murderous terrorist, especially using the “they both want the US to be a different country” justification you used, the jumping point of which is an entirely coincidental name similarity. That was my point with the terrig/terrirst bit, which you ironically took great offense to. I didn’t think I was being too subtle.
One may cloak such scurrilous comments after the fact as “I was just joking” but after seeing them time and time and time and time again, one wonders how much joking is really going on. At least granite owns up to the fact that he’s not kidding.
And lastly thank you for your service and your husband’s. The sacrifice that military families choose to endure is truly humbling. My brother in law goes back for his second tour this summer. I really hope it is after the 12 month tours kick in.
That reminds me…did you hear they caught Bin Laden in the mountains of Pakistan? No? Yea, me neither…
What intrigues me is the staging of this incident. Not that it is anything new, mind you. I just find it interesting that Obama has taken up Clintonesque ruses and doublespeak in order to defend himself from political attacks clearly engineered by Clinton herself. It is kind of fun to watch Democrats drown in thier own hypocracy.
From what I have seen during my adult life, Democrats seem to believe that the average person in the USA has the common sense of a rat. That is, no real common sense but they will respond to stimuli such as food, sex or bright colors. The problem is, they seem to be right, at least for those people who regularly vote a Democrat ticket. Bill Clinton helped to prove this with his many smoke and mirror comments such as, “I didn’t inhale” and “your definition of is”. Hilary tells us she is a pro religion hunter who drinks whisky.. Just like the little people. Obama has to create the illusion (and it requires a lot of supporting actors) he has (to steal a word from the 2000 election) GRAVITAS. Wow, these guys are stretching reality like Tim O’Leary on his best day. The problem is, the audience which they target will fall for it hook, line and sinker.
Que Chiste..
