Britain Can’t Deport Libyan Al-Qaeda Suspects
{Post by See-Dubya}
Islamic extremist paid STG 2,000 to be smuggled from Malta to the UK
A terror suspect who was once found with a map marked with the flightpath to Birmingham International Airport has defeated the UK Government’s bid to deport him to Libya.
The man, who can only be identified by the initials DD, has been described by a court as “real and direct threat to the national security of the UK”.
A second Libyan, known only as AS and described as a “committed Islamist extremist” also won his appeal against deportation.
Note that this isn’t DD and AS’s first hearing; this is the government’s appeal after a prior loss. They were in the news a year ago for that and apparently Britain really, really, doesn’t want to send them back to Libya. Both articles–even the Guardian’s, for Pete’s sake–go on at truly jaw-dropping length explaining this guy’s familial and circumstantial ties to terrorism…for example, a violently deceased brother-in-law who was the suspected masterminded the Madrid bombing. But why can’t DD and AS be sent home?
Let’s ask the kindly souls of Amnesty International, UK:
In the cases of DD and AS, the Court of Appeal found no grounds to disagree with the decision of the Special Immigration Appeals Commission (SIAC) that the assurances which had been obtained by the UK from Libya, in the form of a ‘Memorandum of Understanding’, were not sufficient to protect DD and AS from a real risk of torture or other ill-treatment if they were to be returned to Libya. Amnesty International welcomed this recognition of the real risk to which these men would undoubtedly be exposed if they were to be returned to Libya.
Got that? The chance that this man (who bribed his way into the country illegally and engages in a ridiculous level of suspicious and outright pro-jihadist activity) might endure some unpleasantness at Khadaffi’s hands outweighs the risk that he might well unleash a bit of unpleasantness of his own upon the British populace.
Don’t worry, though. These guys won’t be set scot-free to roam the English countryside. The Maltese article notes they’ll be under a strict “control order”. Nothing keeps terrorists locked down like a control order.
There’s even a curfew.
Sleep tight.

What a stupid country…They actually WILL cut off their nose to spite their face.
And to think, I used to actually want to move to London. *sigh* Another dream best forgotten.
That’s not a lot different than some of the problems we have with our illegal aliens from down south…Both situations are deplorable
This is what you get when beaurocrats run things.
They just need to be sued out of the country for free speech violations like their critics are.
There’s a reason why it is often said “The Law is an ass”.
Britain used to be a very strong country and its navy the best in the world. They were a proud people, with a “stiff” upper lip. Now, it seems they jump at their own shadows, scared to hurt anyone’s feelings. They’ve become a shell of their former greatness. I lived near London many years ago; I would be apprehensive to go back today. With all the government controls today, it just wouldn’t be much of a pleasant visit.
My generation doesn’t have a John Wayne to look up to. We just have beta males.
It’s interesting to see how the EU has countries hamstrung to protect their own self interests. National security is secondary to the rights of accused terrorists. It’s the emo war – in a time where blood is being shed, we don’t want to offend someone’s feelings.
The Liberal Brits cheered when they scored a victory by getting several British Al Qaeda Terrorists returned to the UK from Gitmo. It was 2005.. Late June if I remember.. Of course, a few weeks later, several bombs went off in London and, amazingly, BBC never mentioned the “Victory” again. There are a few in the UK that have common sense. However, as soon as they say anything, the liberal press accuses them of everything from insanity to Nazism. Too bad. A wonderful place hijacked by lunacy. Remind you of anywhere else?
The problem with the UK is that there are two paths of immigration. There is the legal path and then there is the illegal path.
I’m currently pursuing the legal path. I’ve lived in the UK for 9 years now (since I was 18), I need to live here for another year in order to qualify for indefinite leave to remain. In order to apply for that, I’ll need to provide reams of documentation showing my financial status and proof of residence. That means I’ll need bank statements and utility bills going back a few years. Doesn’t matter if I’ve moved much, I’ll need all my bills. As far as cost goes, I’ve had to fund myself by working.
In terms of cost, the immigration costs are almost prohibitively expensive. The process so far has cost me at least £1500 and I haven’t even begun to apply for citizenship. Just indefinite leave to remain.
On the other hand, I could have just arrived here illegally. I’ll have a living allowance provided by the state, have legal representation that will fight for my right to stay, free health care, free boarding, all of which are paid for by tax payers. In fact, I think I might be able to claim unemployment benefits too.
Given the two paths, it feels like a real slap in the face for those of us who choose the legal path. When a software engineer at a huge MNC who holds a PhD and has 0 criminal convictions (hell, I have never ever been warned or cautioned even) has to jump through hoops in order to stay in the country while the government has a huge legal battle just to deport a terrorist who is living in the country illegally, the system clearly doesn’t work and needs a huge overhaul.
You can tell I’m slightly bitter about my situation -.-
You have every right to be bitter.
Is it just me or does this sound strikingly familiar? Are we not in the same boat here? Let’s see, we tolerate seditious behavior, allow
protestersmorons to pour concrete over railroad tracks without consequence, set their children in the street in front of big rigs and other much worse behavior without fear of repercussions or responsibility. We reward illegal aliens for breaking our laws. For what consolation it may be worth to the Brits, America is not far behind in this mess.
Farewell, farewell to all my greatness.
Labour is at fault for a lot, well just about all of it. They singlehandedly destroyed Britain and refuse to call elections because they they know they’ll lose to the Conservatives and it will be very embarrassing for them.
One day the British will be marching into the Infidel Beheading Centers. Henry the Eighth’s got nothing on Muslim true-believers.
Classic match of Illegal Immigration and Terror!
The Brits are going about this the wrong way. Don’t deport them to Libya; instead deport them to Antartica. This way Amnesty International cant claim they will be tortured by another human being and the world does not have to worry about them wreaking havoc on anyone else. Simple solutions are ususally the most effective.
Great idea, but if the Brits will not return DD and AS to their home base, no way would their control order include free room and board at Gitmo.
A similar problem exists in America. Now who ever knows more about this subject please tell me and I’ll shut up. But I read America deported a Somalia at a cost of $200,000, by air, only to have Somalia refuse accepting this person who was subsequently released back into the good old U.S. of A.
A larger problem, 55,000 criminal deportees have been so rejected by their home countries and who have since committed 450,000 new felonies. How about a tent city in Arizona for these carbon units rather than allowing them to graze on America. If it cost me ten cents more per head of lettuce not to buy it, fine. But lets find a cheap way to incarcerate these predators. Where is that guy who said his main job is protecting the American people. Oh, ya. He has Iraq and America confused.
That’s one decision that is most certainly going to come back and bite them on the a55.
BTW if they came to the UK via Malta, send them back to Malta – let them decide what to do from there.
When you have a government that is considering, allowing clerics to use loudspeakers, in London, to call their flock to prayer, you wonder what happened to their culture. If I had to listen to that stuff several times a day in my town, I’d flee in no time.
Nope, that would be too cozy. I suggest we give them a hobby, namely parachuting. Their first jump is either into the rain forest in South America or the jungles of Africa. So we don’t hurt the environment we provide them with biodegradable parachutes that will dissolve back into nature.
Great post see-dubya. You would think the Brits would have learned that “control orders” are ineffectual with suicidal, murdering Islamic fanatics.
It’s a shame. If Tim Robbins were cast in the John Wayne character above, it would be a comedy.
Was it TS Elliot? “This is the way the world ends, not with a bang but a whimper…”
Suspicious persons that can not be deported, speeding tickets forgiven IOT visit second wife…I guess the Islamization is just about complete.
They’ll always be an England (until they rename it)
I strongly disagree.
If Tim Robbins were cast in the John Wayne character above, it would be and an insult to a far better man.
In the name of Oh!b♥m♥, please don’t cling to guns or religion for comfort!
WarTip,
You are right, except I think our disease is further advanced than England.
We actually have a viable politician for president that associates with terrorists and America hating preachers.
I don’t think there is a country in the world that would allow 20+ million illegals to come and steal benefits and jobs from its citizens.
IMHO, we are much further up sh%t creek without a paddle than any other civilized nation.
graysonret,
We already have these speakers in the metro Detroit area. The largest population of arabs outside of the middle east.
When I was a kid most of the arabs that settled were caldean, trying to escape the government imposed religion.
It has been a long time since I lived in the area, but knowing that they have their call-to-prayer speakers, I would say it is more than caldean settling in the Detroit area.
In laymans terms the “religion of peace” is taking root in the state without any hope of lower taxes.
I have doubts that the conservatives would be much better…
Englandistan.
It’s only going to get worse before it gets, uh, worse.
WWIV.
Is the USA worried about things on the ground? Why should it?
Think it’s gonna be a ground war? LOL.
Nah. Think big. Big boom. One shot. Game over. Global re-boot.
Wonder if they’ll use the Tower of London again?
Stumped me for a second. I couldn’t determine who I was and what he would V.
I prefer to ask WWVTD (What Would Vlad Tepes Do) to the jihadis?
There are similar issues all over Europe. For instance, we’re stuck with a guy who can’t be deported for some obtuse humanitarian reason – and just to make sure, has asserted that there would be much fire and brimstone (and more importantly – bombings and terror) if he were to be put on a plane and flown back to Iraq. This in spite of him appearing as the chief demagouge starring in a couple of “educational” videos intended for the field training facilities of known extremist organizations.
He’s obviously hostile towards the West and his country of residence, he adds nothing of value to society (other than filling the pockets of his pet lawyer), yet for some reason he’s completely untouchable. The logic of it eludes me.
To downdiver: Kind of reminds me of how STUPID this country is!!!
Unfortunately Rooster, I honestly believe that ALL of the current candidates will create more harm than they can do good. My only hope and deciding factor is a roll of the dice that PERHAPS one of them will select slightly less liberal judges to the Supreme Court but even there, it is only a roll of the dice with no guarantees.
There is a reason I do not gamble but that is all we have going this political season. These next four years will prove very telling about whether or not we actually have a future. Furthermore, with Secession not being a viable option and no foreseeable future of a return to conservative values, what is there to do?
The only thing I have seen that gave me any hope at all was about China returning to the position of a global superpower and how that would (according to the article at least) force a return to more conservative values in the USA. Can you imagine what a shakeup that would be for our current band of political party-goers above the people? If that is what it takes and we can do it without a war … well, the next four years should be very interesting.
It’s sad. I love the UK. I have friends there. But when the Sex Pistols sang about “no future,” they were as it turns out, about 30 years too early.
I really feel sorry for the entire British Empire. They are all going down the liberal drain. England seems to be the worst though. It is actually against the law to defend yourself if attacked by muggers, etc.! Good Grief! This is not the England I enjoyed some 40 years ago. Not by a long shot. Street creeps had to work in gangs of at least three or four or they’d get their heads handed to them in a street mugging. All gone. A shame.
Didn’t know that, Rooster. Thanks for the update. I also have heard it’s one of the worst cities to live in. I guess so, with all those speakers going off.
Boryon, I just now saw your comment and I would agree with you. I doubt David Cameron would be a whole lot better than Gordon Brown has been.
Conservative has changed in the UK, gone are the types like Lady Thatcher…and thats the kind we could really use right now.
Malta has also become a victim of the alliance between the EU and terrorists. See, they must allow those North Africans coming to EU on rafts aslyum by all those dopey, feel-good, help-the-Third-World-while-lining-my-pockets
and-retaining-political-power
liberals.
There’s even a curfew.
