The NRA (of which I am a Life Member) really has been behind the curve ball when it has dealt with outrages by Wal-Mart, K-Mart, and UPS with respect to how they treat gun owners.

Kudos to The Raging Republican

That means by proxy Bloomberg has acheived a NATIONAL REGISTRATION program. You don't think that next year he will tell the press "why if Walmart can do it can't the US Government?" You think that YOUR LOCAL police forces won't walk into the local Walmart and demand to do ad hoc queries on their databases? Bloomberg has already sent his cops as far as Virgina to pull off stings at gunshows and gunshops. He has teamed up HIS cops with BATF agents to walk into gunshops in NY and the BATF guy asks for the yellow sheets while the NYC cop looks over their shoulder.

When Bloomberg calls for Microstamping and turns to Walmart what do you think will happen. Walmart will DEMAND IT OF THEIR VENDORS. 17% of Remingtons guns are sold at Wal-Mart guys !!! Don't you think Tommy Milner may winch but he will salute and say Ay Ay captain ! All without a single legislature having to act. YOU DON'T GET TO VOTE ON THIS ONE. This my friends is the real POST HELLER WORLD. Bloomberg is just so freaking smart. He is OUTSOURCING POLITICAL ACTION.

The NRA reeeeeaaaallllyyy needs to step up to the plate on this one.

Maybe Bloomberg and Wal-Mart could point out where in the 2nd Amendment or the Constitution it allows for the Government and Walmart to track gun purchases.

Every one of these back door attempts at infringing our Constitutional Right is nothing more than Tyranny.

"A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed."

It seems to me that a clear reading of the 2nd amendment would say that both Bloomberg and Wal-Mart are infringing the 2nd Amendment right of Americans.

Of course I am not an attorney or Judge that would "interpret" the meaning of Shall not be infringed to mean that the Government can force you to register your gun, have a background check, take your picture to put into a data base, and have Wal-Mart maintain an illegal database to track your purchase so you can be sued.

Our founding fathers wrote the Constitution in plain English for a reason, they knew the moment the ink was dry that some lawyer would try and "interpret" the clear meaning of their words to fit their agenda.

..and do not get me started on what they have done to militias in this country.

PVT Jean,
Good luck on America coming to its senses, and I pray that if and when another attack occurs--people will step up.
Unfortunately the only people who will are the Sheepdogs!

Frankly, I could care less what they do in the socialist republics of Boston and New York Sh#ttie. Perhaps Bloomie, with Hil and Chuckie's help, can propose a bill for succession, Now that's something I could support.

Bloomberg attempts to accomplish 2 things: shows he's doing something about the gun "problem", and to attack Wal-Mart, the left's nemesis. Neither one is successful, of course; it's just for show. If I wanted a gun, the local stores have plenty to sell anyway.

I cant believe this... More companies are following this anti gun propaganda. Why dont they look at press releases from the FBI, DEA, DHS, & Research studies from independent sources... that say Gun Control doesnt work. That states with no gun control laws.. no registration.. have record low crime. Vermont is enjoying record low crime in the states history... since they cancelled registration, permits.

I live in New York ... just found out that The Assembly passed about 10 anti gun amenments. 10!... All that hurts gun owners.

Please if your not a member of The NRA ... now is the time to join. www.nra.org

Im hoping this country returns to its senses and to Freedom

They already do.

Tried buying cold and allergy medicine with a decongestant in it for the past couple of years? You have to provide a picture ID and signature to the pharmacist (which means you can't get it after or before the pharmacy hours), you can only have 1 pill a day, you can only buy 10 pills at a time, and no more than 30 in a month (you're screwed if the month has 31 days). The store provides the data to the Feds. Oh yeah, you have to be 18 and you can't get a prescription for it, so if both you and your kid have allergies at the same time, you're out of luck unless you find another adult to purchase it for you. Or do it illegally at a different store and risk having the DEA show up at your door.

Have not bought anything at wal mart in years. They tend to have a lot of things that you use once and throw away.

The guns I purchase are rarely from a shop so large. I prefer the small town gun shop. Although they are becoming increasingly rare. One of the best ones nearby was leveled so that they could install a traffic circle on that plot of land. They touted it as "Your nickel at work".

I'll register my guns with a shot out the window at whomever thinks they want to come and take them or make me register them.

Wal-Mart understands its role as a leading, responsible retailer in the U.S. and is making strides to strengthen its already existing security processes to help combat illegal gun activity in the communities we serve. Wal-Mart has a long and proud history of offering the products hunters and outdoorsmen want and need and that will not change.

It is important to note that these procedures should not impede law-abiding citizens from purchasing firearms at our stores that sell them. These processes merely provide us, as a retailer, an additional mechanism to assist law enforcement when illegal activity occurs.

We are hopeful these enhanced processes with help from law enforcement and other retailers committing to do the same can make a positive difference in our communities.

Thank you,
Wal-Mart Customer Relations

So if my gun is stolen that i buy from them and is used in a crime how is that going to help ? Oh i see now so i get sued for owning the gun that comitted the crime. I guess i can sue walmart for selling me a gun that got stole that was used in a crime ? sarc/off

No more Walmart. No way. Not no how.

A larger comment I'd like to make especially during this election is that the only reason why more gun control didn't happen after 1994, and that the Democrats bother to even talk nice to gun owners since then is because Gun Owners waged a scorched-earth campaign on every issue affecting them without compromise.

If you want conservative issues to be ultimately pre-eminent, you must be willing to vote against and not cozy-up to a John McCain-type politician...Even if it means making him lose the election in 2008 so that the issues we hold dear are taken seriously.
