Michelle Obama’s noblesse oblige: “I’m willing to make the sacrifices”
Michelle Obama stooped to Stephen Colbert’s level and endured a 7-minute rendezvous with buffoonery to tout The Soul-Fixer’s campaign. Why did she agree to appear? Because Barack is “special” and because, as she so nobly put it, “I’m willing to make the sacrifices.”
She wasn’t kidding.
Colbert prides himself on his talent at spoofing narcissism. Michelle Obama’s narcissism is beyond parody.
Unintentionally funniest line: “Barack and I tend to look at the positives.”

Probably because Mrs. Obama is placing herself in the position. If she’s going to be on the frontlines, campaigning for her husband, she’s going to catch some shots, too.
If she wants to know about sacrifice, she needs to talk to my wife. My wife stays home raising our children while I work. Our son is autistic, and my wife struggles to work with him several hours every day, trying to get through to him.
That’s sacrifice.

if you simply go to their page, and do a search on “cindy mccain”, there are all kinds of articles there, everything from pill popping to recipies on a website. The bloggers and posters there do a fine job of saying the same thing. And the search to find anything even remotely condescending took about 4 seconds.
Anyone who takes just a couple of minutes reading that site can see that its chock full of conservative-hating calories. I’m sure that even a simple google search would dredge up all sorts of material. I would indulge, but unfortunately, work calls during the day.
In this case, at least, I see less of an attack Michelle O., and more of simply pointing out the obvious by virtue of her own words and actions.

So tell me … who tried to drag Cindy McCain into a false story about her husband having an affair with a former campaign worker?
Who circulated stories questioning her financial worth as the heiress to a family fortune?
Who questioned the fact that the family wealth was accumulated running a beer distributorship?
Add to that the ongoing rumors being circulated about her relationship with her husband and other family relationships and I would say she has also been targeted.
The BIG difference … she stood up and refuted the stories immediately … no bull … just facts … and didn’t get sucked into the ongoing spin machine mentality of the Obamas and Clintons.
Looks … yes.
Money … yes.
But I’ll take BRAINS and COMMON SENSE over those any day of the week.
She runs circles around the Obamas and Clintons without even trying every day of the week by showing more class than they have put together.

Not entirely true; even today, my mother and my sisters still go apoplectic at the mere mention of Nancy Reagan.

Liberal First Ladies or First Lady wannabes generally lack two personality characteristics essential for the job: class, and a sense of humility.
Contrast:
- Hillary was and remains a poster-child for haughtiness, pretentiousness and vindictiveness.
- Theresa (pronounced te-RAY-za for all you hoi polloi out there) Heinz fairly dripped of arrogant condescension, as does Michelle Obama - who adds a touch of whiny self-pity as well.
Tipper Gore was about as close to being a normal human being as any donkey First Lady candidate in the past 30 years - and as the exception, she only tends to prove the rule.
I’m beginning to become convinced that the greatest thing a democratic candidate can do for his opponents is get married.
In reference to Mrs Obama’s statement that “He is going to change the face of America.” I would ask Mrs Oama, What is the face of America now in her eyes? And what will be the face of America after Senator Obama wins? With the understanding that he hasn’t won yet.
Secondly Mrs Obama throws out terms like “regular folks”, again I would appreciate her definition of who and what exactly are regular folks?
I think we could guess about her definitions, but her own words would certainly clear the matter up, I,m sure.

I have seen that more than once. My wife kept an incident when my Aircraft Commander’s wife (he was only an Air Force Captain O-3) and demanded that my wife an active duty NCO babysit their children. When the Captains wife told her husband that my wife had refused he covered his butt pretty quickly by chewing her out and having her call my wife up in tears apologizing for her poor behavior. She was right to keep it from me at the time this AC was not a particular favorite of mine and I would have wasted not time in having him on the carpet explaining his failure to control his dependent to the Squadron Commander and Ops Officer or asked him to step behind the blast fence to discuss a finer point of airmanship.

I thought Michelle Obama had a background in Public Relations, though the title of Vice-President for Community and External Affairs was invented two months after her husband became Senator, and I think has remained vacant since she left to help him run for President. But it seemed like a PR job, yet her personal PR skills seem limited.

The person picking up the slack probably didn’t even get a raise, so Michelle, through her personal sacrifice, has lowered the cost of Health Care in America by $316K!

Rich people (of ALL colors) generally got that way because they exibited the traits listed above. True, there are some that inherit their money but don’t kid yourself - the majority of “rich people” got that way because they worked their butts off, made sacrifices along the way and didn’t depend on the government or anybody else to do anything for them.
I’m not rich. Far from it. But the idea of “I am willing to trade places with you. I will trade homes, jobs, clothes, and bank accounts” is, frankly, appalling to me. I’ll get there myself, thank you. Or not. But whether or not I get there will be because of the choices I make.
Let it go Papa Louie. Slavery existed for a very short time in this country and ended about a century and a half ago now. Last time I looked, there were no signs on public facilities saying “colored only”. In fact, last time I looked this country was still engaged in the canard of “affirmative action”.
