Let’s talk Constitutional rights. I would wager that givng up my right to bear arms in exchange for a lib’s right to free speach is not a bargan they would be willing to make. Weaken one part of the Constitution and you weaken the whole.

Jim M, “fighting words”, “time and manner”, “yelling fire in a crowded theater”. These are all examples of constitutional state actor imposed restrictions on free speech. I’m pretty sure you understand that the Bill of Rights are not absolute. The good news is that Obama stated that he believes the 2nd amendment to create an individual right to bear arms. I think the Supremes will agree, and the key question will then become what level of scrutiny the court will put in place regarding federal, state or local restrictions (i.e., gun control laws) on such individual right to bear arms. I don’t think there’s any serious disagreement that some degree of “gun control” will pass constitutional muster even with a very conservative court.
