How dare they explore questions of character, truthfulness, and judgment?
Don’t you know you’re supposed to do the Schoolmarm thing or the Suck-Up thing or the Bogus Plant thing?
Don’t you know you’re supposed to just let the candidates bloviate about Compassion or Global Warming or Diversity or some other MSM-designated Important Issue?
Don’t you know you’re supposed to ask the same, old, recycled softball questions in order to allow the candidates to recite the same, old, recycled answers about their health plans, their housing plans, their Iraq withdrawal plans?
Why, this just proves the MSM is in cahoots with Fox News! (Or “Fix News,” as the pastor who shall not be named likes to call it.)

Sullivan went absolutely crazy because Bill Kristol accurately noted how close Obama’s comment about religion was to Karl Marx’s statement that religion is the opium of the masses. Sullivan quickly retored by dismissing Mr. Kristol as “a nonChristian”. Sullivan apparently thought that by “outing” Mr. Kristol as being Jewish, he was somehow destroying Mr. Kristol’s legitimacy. Sullivan’s shameful behavior was yet one more example of left wing bigotry.

lgm, I look at all the websites and I have never seen the outright hatred, bigotry and even death threats here like I routinely see on the huffington post, daily kos and others. I personaly have recieved death threats on those other sites. I usualy laugh at them because I never give my real address on the web. But still, it is liberals who are the most deranged on the web.

Everytime they shot over to her, I jumped out of my seat and was wondering if I was watching a debate or political horror movie. Numerous Puns intended.
And Mrs. Clinton and Mr. Obama said that as president, they would execute promises to begin the withdrawal of American troops from Iraq, even if their military commanders at the time advised them that it would be wiser to keep troops on the ground

As to the topic at hand, I disagree that the issues raised were “gotcha” issues. They go the very heart of the candidates’ character and integrity. Scripted speech delivered with the aid of a teleprompter provide an opportunity for a candidate to appear to be all things to all people while masking their true character and beliefs.
Are honesty and integrity no longer important? Does a candidate’s TV persona and charisma trump their true mettle?
And the issues raised are more than soound bites of “mistakes”. The issues reflect a stunning departure between what we are being told and what the candidates actually believe. In that department, Obama is the clear leader over Hillary. He’ll immediately pull troops out of Iraq, but his advisors say he’ll leave a “quick reaction force” in place that happens to be twice the number of troops we have maintained in Korea for 50 years. He says he will obliterate NAFTA, while telling our trading partners in secret to ignore his campaign promises. He believes the right to bear arms is an individual right under the Constitution, yet he believes that government entities at all levels can impose restrictions on those rights that have no equivalent with other individual rights such as religion and speech. He states he does not accept money from corporations (which is illegal) and special interests, yet at least half of all funds he has raised have been through bundlers who just happen to be lobbying for their own interests. He denounces his pastors rhetoric and asks people to believe that in over 20 years of associating with Jeremiah Wright, he never heard a discouraging word. He claims to be a staunch ally of Israel, yet surrounds himself with advisors who are decidely anti-Israel (by the way, Hamas just came out in support of Obama).
The questions and issues raised in the debate are VERY relevant. Character and integrity DO count. If a slick presence in front of a camera is all we need, we would be better to look to Hollywood for our presidential candidates rather than government.

Yes, the questions asked were gotcha questions, but they had to be asked, since the candidates’ songs and dances were too much even for ABC News. My advice to Hillary and Hussein is, better to keep your mouth shut and be thought a fool than to open it and remove all doubts.
Democrats avoiding, not answering or becoming indignant over the asking of certain questions. It’s like the banning of tag only at the (supposed) grown up level. Hands off people!

This is my favorite excuse from Obama. He spent TWENTY years in the church and he never noticed that his preacher was a racist anti-american? Either he is blind and stupid (he is niether) or he is simply lying to cover his butt. To say he was never there for “those” sermons, yet was an on-going member of that church and had no idea how his “spritual leader” felt about these issues is simply too much to believe. You would have to be a true believe not to see through these lies.

So, by several sheer strokes of luck, Barack Obama was not in church on any of the Sundays when Jeremiah Wright spewed forth his racist anti-American diatriabes? I find it hard to believe that such speech from Wright was limited to just a handful of Sundays when Obama, as a “person of faith”, as he likes to refer to himself, was not sitting amongst the rest of the congregation.

You have to keep in mind that with the Left almost every incident occurs in the “Grey Area”. You could say, “The sky is blue and water is wet,” and the reply would be, “Not at night and not when it’s frozen.” The condition is called being so open-minded that your brains fall out.
Rooster made the logical assumption that by knowing someone as a friend, pastor, or acquaintance for 20-plus years most people would have at least a clue of where that individual stood on certain issues. Yes, there is a chance that Obama was unaware of Wright’s comments and attitude just like there is a chance the lottery ticket I bought will win.

Why don’t democrats admit that in a post 9-11 world they have offered up an islamist sympathizer? Islamist sympathizer is putting it mildly, I don’t think BO has ever met a militant he didn’t like or listen to. Through improper vetting and the rush to look inclusive they have chosen an anti candidate the only thing they can do at this point is hide the truth. They have to pretend that they were not here or there or tell us that they never heard this or that. I am not doubting that Obama heard many a controversial statement given by Wright from the pews. But “those sermons” is a reference to the ones we have heard played over and over again, namely the “G D America” one after 9/11. Obama claims he was not there for “those sermons” and Rooster claims proof that he is lying. I’m wondering, given the tenacity of investigation of some of the right-wing bloggers, how come no one as found proof contrary to what Obama claims?
Because his statement is incredulous.
As far as trolls I have to disagree with Soap; the trolls provide an opportunity. They offer up the spoon-fed talking points and twisted logic that someone may encounter from people in everyday life. By seeing the arguments the left is making you can formulate a thoughtful response to hopefully save a rational person who has otherwise had their brain hijacked. I find and capitalize on these opportunities on a daily basis at the college I attend.
Case in point: A young guitarist tore one of those silly ‘Che’ stickers from his case after I explained to him who that murderer was. The kid had the outward appearance of a typical college-indoctrinated youth, yet was not entirely lost.

That being said, I would still like to see this site improved a bit.
While my previous post attempted to label troll postings as opportunities, TOS was totally negating that concept by typing up a message arguing the subtleties of the English language. TOS post was not, in any shape, form, or fashion, the kind of opportunity I was referring to.
The ones debating the importance of character, however, do. When students at my school pose the question,”What does it matter what a candidate does in there personal time?,” I generally respond thus:
If a candidate cannot remain faithful to his wife, why should I expect him to remain faithful to his office?
If a candidate cannot recognize a problem within his church, how can he recognize a problem within the entire country?
If a candidate associates with and befriends anti-American people in his personal life, how can I expect him to loyally serve as the President?

Have you ever been to a large black church? They have a big business inside their compound, selling every sermon at the on base book/video store.
Your messiah admitted listening to his sermons when he was at Harvard. You can only do that if you purchase them and listen to them later.
By your logic, Obama had no need to be in church right after 9/11, or felt the need to purchase Rev Wrights sermon to provide some comfort after what just happened to our nation.
To make the chickens comin’ home to roost statements Rev Wright did in the first sermon after 9/11 would have been the talk of the congregation, even if Barry wasn’t there he would have heard about it.
I do believe members of black churches have phones and do socialize with one another outside of church. You really think Barry never knew his mentor is a black separatist and hates America and is committed to Africa first.

I would not think highly of “a dishonest person who keeps bad company as well”. And personally, I would not think highly of any Klansman.
My reaction to the first hour last night was that it will likely be a while before Hillary gives time to ABC.

Obama is either a liar or a fool. That he listened to his minister’s rants for twenty years with little reaction until the news got out says one thing.
His being active in a church
such as his without knowing most of what his minister said for twenty years as he claims, says another. Neither is complementary.
I like trolls. I was once the only moderate on a Janeane Garafalo message board, and they considered me a troll until they got to know me.

Although I am dreadfully tired of the Rev. Wright scandal, it, as constantly stated previously, is still a valid point and question to ask someone seeking the highest office in this country.
“How can you attend a church for over 20 years and not know of Rev. Wright’s attitudes towards America? How can you consider someone a mentor and family member and not know these things? How can you belong, for 20 years to a church that is “Unashamedly Black” (which is not bad, as I am proud of my heritage as well) and teaches a separatist theology yet speak of uniting our nation.? Please answer so I may better understand your character.”
When this is all over Hillary will need a bid and a drool cup and Obama will be back in his hate filled Church.

I realize that Obama is a spectacular orator. His prepared speeches are delivered with an eloquence that soothes the untrained ear with an almost musical promise of change and hope. Unfortunately when the curtain is pulled back to reveal the man there is no audacious leader. None of the wondrous gleam survives the light of day; the marble of the statue is pitted and cracked. Yet the marveling throngs refuse to see. The doubts of the eyes and ears are ignored.
Adolph Hitler and Vladimir Lenin were excellent orators but we know now what their Agenda brought their people.
Obama is a Marxist and a Racist.
Black Liberation Theology and Marxism are not a basis of preparation for leadership of the Free World.
It is an outstanding recipe for disaster for Us.

Obama knew perfectly well what his preacher and his church were all about. If you noticed, while Wright is spewing this garbage, the people in the pews are cheering him on! This is at the core of what this whole church is all about.
Anyone who doesn’t have the spine to stand up to people like Jeremiah Wright won’t be able to stand up to challenges facing our next president.
By the way, my church makes CDs and DVDs of past services available for free in the foyer.
